Estigma es una banda chilena oriunda de la ciudad de Concepción que se destacó en su primer trabajo, por su estrecha relación con la mística indígena autóctona, y ahora, no hacen más que reafirmar este camino, con el cual sus ideas se llenan de energía y reflejan sus sentimientos. Su intento por la continuidad del rumbo musical escogido, se transforma en una identidad. Esto no significa que su futura trayectoria tenga que estar ligada necesariamente a esta visión, pero ya sea de forma consciente o inconsciente, esta persistencia les entrega algo que los puede identificar y destacar en la no menos contundente cantidad de bandas encaminadas en el rock progresivo-sinfónico del país.
Por las propias palabras del grupo, se nota una labor conceptual, en la cual ejecutan piezas basadas en la estructura musical progresiva, pero paralelamente, su desborde está asociado a una identidad regional de la cual no pretenden desprenderse. Su reflexión apunta a los componentes sociales y culturales en los cuales está sumergido el diario vivir urbano en la región, con sus propios anhelos y sueños.
La flauta traversa tiene un papel muy importante a la hora de matizar el disco; su papel es de un protagonismo relevante. No adorna ni hace de hilo conductor, sino más bien está presente en muchos instantes. Su sonido es la que pone la nota de serenidad y la temática de la música que convoca nos hace aterrizar de la revolucionaria elevación de las guitarras.

Hailing from Concepción, Chilean ensemble ESTIGMAS have been one of the most active prog bands in their country since their inception in the early 2000s. The band's sound is definitely ballsy and powerful, which in no small degree is due to the dual guitars, but it is also to be considered the robust scheme provided by the rhythm section. Magically enough, the flute can easily find its way to make its melodic lines and flourishes get noticed. ESTIGMA's musical ideology is based on the reconstruction of Chilean folk textures and rhythms in a context of progressive rock's aggressive side. Their gusto for conceptually driven music has led them to release two concept albums so far: "Rañi Killen" in 2006 and "Retrato de un Sueño" in 2008. Both releases have gained them critical praise as well as a reasonable expansion of their cult following. Between the first and second album there have been important variations in the band's line-up, but they have not affected the natural evolution of ESTIGMA's essential style.
ESTIGMA is recommended to all who love hard-driven prog fusion (especially from Chile, such as ERGO SUM, MAR DE ROBLES, KOIAK), as well as heavy prog with eclectic influences based on folk and psychedelia.
