Remy Stroomer (REMY) is born on October 9, 1979 in Haarlem. At the age of nine he takes keyboard lessons and his first compositions are created. He first appears on stage in 1994. In the beginning as a solo artist, but not much later also with other bands and musicians in various genres, such as electronica, jazz, rock and symphonic / progressive rock. Despite Remy completely follows his own musical path, Klaus Schulze (especially his period of the late 80s / early 90s) is frequently mentioned in comparison to his early musical style.
In 1999, after completing secondary school, Remy starts studying sonology at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. In the same year, Remy releases his first album “Exhibition of Dreams” on AKH Records, the label he runs from that moment on together with Ewout Koek. “The Art of Imagination” appears a little less than a year later on Groove Unlimited. With this album, Remy wins a prize in the category ‘Best Newcomer Electronic Music’ at the prestigious German Schwingungen Festival 2001, presented by Winfried Trenkler. In the following years, Remy releases several albums and performs in the Netherlands, Germany and England. Between 2007 and 2010 he gives a number of performances in the Grote or St. Bavokerk in Haarlem. In 2012 and 2022, Remy and Ron Boots again organize concert evenings on a larger scale at the same location. Remy has also been on stage several times over the years during the E-Day and E-Live Festivals (at various locations in and around Eindhoven); during the 2008 edition as a support act for Tangerine Dream’s Edgar Froese. He also performs at the Patronaat (Haarlem), Rathaus Schöneberg (Berlin, Germany), Awakenings (England), Zeiss Planetarium Bochum (Germany), Theater de Wegwijzer (Nieuw- en St. Joosland), De Pletterij (Haarlem), and the ruins of Brederode (Santpoort-Zuid). The studio album “i-Dentity” from 2011 coincides with a performance during the E-Day Festival in Oirschot. The CD marks the establishment of Remy’s Deserted Island Music label, which releases his recent albums. Remy has collaborated with a large number of musicians, including Ron Boots, Eric van der Heijden, Harold van der Heijden, Bill Fox, Gert Emmens, Eric Wøllo, Francis Rimbert, Synth.nl, Thomas Betzler, Moonbooter, My Breath My Music, Wolfram Spyra, Mario Schönwälder, Bas Broekhuis, David Wright and Space Art. After a short-lived adventure with the formation Free Arts Lab (2014-2015), members Petter Janse and Remy continue in 2016 as improvisation duo Mäläskä. Soon other musicians are involved from time to time, and they give performances in own country and abroad. Their output is completely unprepared and without prior appointments. Remy’s most recent studio album “The Other Side” dates from 2020. “The Other Side: Lost in Reality” continues the concept of this album with the registration of the 2022 Grote of St.Bavokerk concert. This new music merges electronics with a ten-piece choir. Subsequently, Remy’s Deserted Island Music label is enriched with new album releases from Mäläska, Däcker, Space Art, Feralia Planitia, Basic Principles and Martijn Comes. 2025 Marks the 25th anniversary of REMY’s debut album “Exhibition of Dreams”, the album release concert from volume 2 of the Planet of the Arps ambient side project at the Brussels Planetarium, and while the second collaboration album with Däcker is being finalized, there is also a brand new REMY solo album in the pipeline. ![]() Жанр: ElectronicСтиль: Berlin School, Ambient, Experimental Год издания: January 18, 2010 Дата оригинального издания: December 21, 1999 Тип издания: 2xCD + CDr, Album, Box Set, Limited Edition, Reissue, Remastered Издатель (лейбл): AKH Records Каталожный номер: akh 01103-2 Тип рипа: tracks (no log, .cue) Продолжительность: 01:11:47 + 00:59:12 + 01:12:46 Треклист: CD 1 1.1. Earlier that year there has been made a selection of tracks which were composed in the preceding two years, and which were likely to appear on the final version of Remy's debut release "Exhibition of Dreams". The basis of the tracks were recorded on Remy's brave old Atari computer, and because the original recordings were done with minidisc, without the possibility to dub anything, all tracks were recorded in just one take, without any editing. In those two weeks of recording sessions there have been recorded quite some different takes of the same tracks, of which the best tracks were chosen to appear on the album. In December 1999 the final 2-CD-R version of "Exhibition of Dreams" is being distributed in a limited number of copies through several music stores in the Netherlands. After having sold the album to a large part of family and quite some enthusiastic people, one copy reaches Dutch electronic music label and mail-order Groove Unlimited, which releases Remy's first official cd-release "The Art of Imagination”, nearly a year later. It's then decided that the production of “Exhibition of Dreams" will not be continued. Ten years after the "Exhibition of Dreams" release, this album can finally be heard by a larger audience. The original recordings from 1999 have been remastered entirely. To also expose the development Remy has made in the past ten years, Remy has recorded and released an album with newly arranged and recorded versions of a selection of the tracks of "Exhibition of Dreams" (available as "EoD"). - Wouter Bessels Жанр: ElectronicСтиль: Berlin School, Ambient, Experimental Год издания: May 13, 2016 Дата оригинального издания: December 21, 1999 Тип издания: WEB, Album, Reissue, Remastered Издатель (лейбл): Deserted Island Music Каталожный номер: DIM-D004 / 16051-0 Продолжительность: 02:10:09 Треклист: 01. Earlier that year there was made a selection of tracks which had been composed in the previous two years, and which was likely to appear on the final version of my debut release “Exhibition of Dreams”. The basis of the tracks was recorded on my brave old Atari computer. However, ten years later, the original recordings from 1999 were remastered entirely, and an official factory pressed double cd of “Exhibition of Dreams” could finally be heard by a larger audience. To expose the development made in the past ten years, I also recorded and released newly arranged versions of a selection of the tracks of “Exhibition of Dreams”, as “EoD” (later renamed to “Exhibition of Dreams revisited”). Although “Exhibition of Dreams” celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2024, there was decided not to have another remaster, limited edition, or whatsoever, but let you experience the music from the 2009 remaster, just as it was intended to sound. The previous packaging for the 10th anniversary was customized, and has been sold out in the meanwhile. And so have the 20th anniversary limited editions. For the remaining cd stock there was decided to produce this packaging. The artwork of this release has been revisited and derrived from the original images. For the completion, the 20th anniversary artbook has been included. Containing background information, stories and photos, offering a complete overview of this well-respected electronic music album. During this concert, Remy played 60 minutes of music, of which “Destination: Berlin – part 1” and “Destination: Berlin – part 3” are unedited live recordings. The basic track of “Destination: Berlin – part 2” was also performed live. However, Bill Fox’ appearance was decided on the very last moment before the performance, so due to technical reasons no multi-track recordings of his contribution were made. For this release, the track has been slightly re-edited and feautures newly recorded parts by Bill Fox. The title track “i-Dentity” consists of two parts, of which the second part features contributions by (in order of appearance) Gert Emmens, Synth.nl, Erik Wøllo and Francis Rimbert. Composed, performed and produced by Remy Stroomer. All electronics by Remy Stroomer. Guitars on “Destination: Berlin - part 2” by Bill Fox. Additional synth solos and sequencing on “i-Dentity” by Gert Emmens, Synth.nl and Francis Rimbert. Guitars on “i-Dentity” by Erik Wøllo. Tracks 1 and 3 published with kind permission of Vic Rek (Ricochet Dream). Recorded and mixed between October 16th 2010 and March 24th 2011 at the AKH Studios, IJmuiden. November 14th, 2009 was cancelled, due to the birth of Remy's son, but one year later, on November 13th, 2010, the trilogy was concluded. Each of the concerts consisted of two sets. In one set Remy exposed his recently released music, and in the other completely new material was performed, especially composed for these occasions. This album mainly concentrates on these new and yet unreleased live-tracks. All music conceived, composed, performed and produced by Remy Stroomer. Tracks 1 & 2 recorded on November 10th, 2007. Mastered by Wouter Bessels, February 2020. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.6.11 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1 This most conceptual project to date by renowned Dutch musician of electronic music REMY (Remy Stroomer, 1979) reflects the composer’s curiosity about our existence, presence and perception here on this place and at this time, and everything attached to it.
The Other Side consists of four extensive music pieces. For the musical direction, Remy slightly refers to the kind of music from the beginning of his career, more than 20 years ago. Partially winking to the Berlin School of electronic music, but also including plenty of elements that make REMY’s unique musical style recognisable: stretched out, repetitive and story-telling pieces, evolving sequencer-patterns, and subtle details and layering. The overture, A Different View, is about thinking different and opposite from the mainstream. Approaching things from another point of view leads to new or different insights. The second track imagines a point of view which human being is never capable to imagine. We are constantly focussing on the things we know from experience, and all things we have been told and educated. What if Everything is Distraction from the real essence? If there is any. The Perfect Dream questions how dreams and reality are connected to eachother. A dream so perfect that it could be reality. Or is it reality? With musical and conceptual winks to Klaus Schulze’s 1986 album Dreams, which has always been one of the main inspirations for REMY’s music. The concluding epos Lost in Reality is trying to find a way through a world of dreams and reality. Quietly putting things into perspective, while trying not to lose it from insanity. He influenced us both, but our own styles evolved in different directions. Eventually during one of our dinners we decided that it would be cool to make some music together or at least give it a try. So we started doing some studio sessions and found out that our approaches were completely different. Remy started yelling musical terms and Michel had no idea what he was talking about. Where Michel can’t even read notes, Remy is classically schooled. In the end we found out that we shouldn’t talk too much and should just listen to each other and improvise. That turned out to be a good idea and in the end we made a lot of useful material. During this process we became good friends and we think you can hear that back on the album. We think that this album is a good mixture of both our styles with music we wouldn’t have created on our own. We hope you enjoy listening to this album as much as we did creating it. - Remy Stroomer & Michel van Osenbruggen ----------------------- foobar2000 1.6.11 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1

Remy had no idea at all what to expect, but the young and talented musicians did a tremendous job improvising on his tracks, while they were entirely unfamiliar with the (kind of) music.
The purpose of “My Breath My Music” is to offer people with severe physical disabilities a possibility to make music with for example self-developed electronic instruments. The Magic Flute, a specially developed instrument which was originally designed as an adaptive musical instrument for people with little or no arm movement, was built with the goal to allow people with a wide range of disabilities to perform live electronic music and aim for the highest professional levels of performance. On this album (which contains the full sessions) you can hear the possibilities of the Magic Flute, as well as proof that there are no restrictions to speaking the language of music. ![]() Mäläskä is a constantly changing improvisational collective around Petter Janse (guitar and stuff) and Remy Stroomer (synthesizers and stuff). For each occassion there are invited friends to create unique moments. In the studio, but above all sharing these moments live on stage. Heavily inspired by the late 60s Krautrock movement (Can, Ashra, Amon Düül) and early 70s Berlin School electronic music (Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream), blended with contemporary electronics (Brian Eno, Orb), Mäläskä’s unpredictable improvisation and non-restricted output is being established and evolved in the most natural way. Whether Remy and Petter play together, or whether they invite fellow-musicians from a wide range of musical orientations to be part of the world of Mäläskä, everything depends on the moment of the creative process and state of mind. Mäläskä’s debut album “Uncle Jim’s Cidney Factory” (June 2016) is the result of the band’s first studio sessions. It is about party animals and college drop-outs at an American college. The second album release “First Day of Spring” (April 2020) features improvised ‘classic electronic music of the future’. With the ambient atmosphere, Mäläskä throws away the map and the book of rules that keeps them on well-known roads. So far, Mäläskä performed in the Netherlands, Germany and U.K. Solo, and as support act for Acid Mothers Temple and Monomyth. As duo, but also including appearances by Tristan Lama Waaien (bass), Bas Broekhuis (percussion), Joost Verhagen (vocals) and Thomas Betzler (percussion). It became a trip of one hour which might be at some points in the line of the composer’s solo work, but it was decided that this project was about to be presented as an ambient side-project. To be called “Planet of the Arps”.The name refers to the musical phenomenon arpeggio (whether or not produced by an arpeggiator), Halton Arp and his Atlas of Peculiar Galaxies, Alan R. Pearlman and his legendary ARP synthesizers, and it might be clear that it also winks to the “Planet of the Apes” science fiction franchise. As soon as the first version of the music piece was recorded, Remy had in mind to involve a fellow musician to contribute to this project, as he felt it needed an extra touch before it eventually could be released. When the Ricochet Gathering event took place in Berlin, in October 2010, Remy asked Wolfram Spyra to be part of this ambient work. Although ‘Der Spyra’ wanted to work on it, there seemed to be lack of time, and above all both artists had other priorities at that moment. The project was set aside for the time being. When Remy was invited to perform at the Zeiss Planetarium in Bochum (Germany), September 15th 2012, he decided to perform this particular piece of music. Simply because it was about to fit perfectly on this location. Some additions and edits were made, and during this solo concert version 2.0 was established. Then, almost two years passed since then, when Remy organised a concert evening at the Ruins of Brederode in Santpoort-Zuid (Netherlands), June 27th, 2014. For the line-up Remy programmed his band at that time, Free Arts Lab, as well as Wolfram Spyra. To conclude the evening, the idea came in mind to do an improvisation around an edited version of “Planet of the Arps”. Which took place in a different way Remy had in mind. Due to circumstances there was no time to rehearse the collaborational session, and just before the show it was decided that Spyra’s partner in crime and singer Roksana Vikaluk was about to join. Resulting into a 20 minutes live version of “Planet of the Arps”, in an entirely improvised setting. The outcome was, so to say, really exciting. Musically, as well as atmospheric, everything seemed to fall into its place. Hereafter it again took a while – more than 4 years – before it was decided that “Planet of the Arps” should get the release in its current form: The original piece, remixed and supplemented with elements from the live performances. Let’s see it as a project which needed this time to evolve, and to result into the version to be heard on this “Planet of the Arps”. “Planet of the Arps 2” was premiered at the Brussels Planetarium, at an one-off event alongside album presentations by Rhea (Mark de Wit) and Synquentium (Peter Dekker) on June 21st, 2025. Un Dernier Adieu à Rambouillet ...... 07:10 The story behind this project is linked to some special meetings in the Yvelines region, just outside Paris, in the summer of 2023. Two years after we started our electronica collaboration in 2020, which led to the “Live At BYSS” performance and its release, we played with the idea of recording a piano album. Things started to take shape when we got the opportunity to record a beautiful Steinberg (not to be confused with Steinway) grand piano from the early 20th century. The fact that the piano had not been tuned recently gave it even more character and charm. We decided to also involve some synthesizers to partially process and modulate the live piano parts and to add extra contrast and atmosphere. Additionally, we used a violin bow and some percussion tools. In the end it became a balanced whole so that you are not just listening to a piano. What you hear on this registration is completely based on improvisation and our state of mind during the sessions we recorded on August 5, 2024. For this reason we decided to have only the one-day recording sessions, as additional days would have resulted in completely different output. For this album release, parts were selected and edited from the more than six hours of music we recorded. We aimed for an honest and organic impression of how things were performed, maintaining dynamics and keeping mistakes, mis-hits and even ambient sounds, resulting in this listening experience that we would like to share with you! - Remy Stroomer and Peter Dekker Performed by Remy Stroomer and Peter Dekker on August 5, 2024.
