8th June 2022 – The Midnight are thrilled to be announcing their new full-length studio album Heroes – due out September 9th via Counter Records. Along with the news, the band is releasing the celebratory new single “Heartbeat” – a rousing and electrifying track that helps set the tone for the album, which was written during isolation by the band’s Tim McEwan and Tyler Lyle. Heroes represents a clear sonic shift for the duo, who have expanded their lineup to include three live musicians – Lelia Broussard on bass, Royce Whittaker on guitar, and Justin Klunk on saxophone and synth – with both Broussard and Whittaker working alongside them on the new LP which was produced by McEwan and mixed by Ingmar Carlson (Tate McCrae, Disclosure, Carly Rae Jepsen).
Heroes is also the third in a trilogy of albums that started with 2018’s Kids – which reached #1 on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Chart – and was followed in 2020 with Monsters. “…for me, Kids is self-knowledge, Monsters is self-love, and then Heroes is empathy,” said Lyle. “I got into depth psychology and this idea of etiology, the way a human forms,” he said about Heroes, adding that “the world doesn't get better but we do. We grow into ourselves. We grow into our voice.”
You can hear this shift in the new songs which are more visceral and warmer. For a band that started as a synth-heavy duo, they have come a long way – creating fully realized arena worthy songs. From new single “Heartbeat” with its Van Halen-inspired synth leads, echoing drums, layered vocal chants and an explosive chorus to last month’s single, the propulsive guitar-laden “Change Your Heart or Die” – Heroes ushers in The Midnight’s next era with some of their biggest and boldest songs yet.
While taking a huge sonic step forward on Heroes, the band’s music still possesses the dramatic and nostalgic streak they’ve become known for since their 2014 debut in EP Days of Thunder. The new LP also reflects the confidence they’ve gained in their songwriting thanks in part due to their expanded live lineup. The band’s vivid sound is well-suited to full rock instrumentation, and the five-piece has cemented that in front on massive sold-out crowds this past year in 1-2k-capacity venues, up from 500-capacity clubs in 2019 and looking ahead to selling out London’s 5k-person Brixton Academy and similar sized venues in 2022.

The Midnight continue their tradition of releasing the instrumental versions of all of their albums including their latest chart topping LP Heroes which was released on September 9th via Counter Records.

The Midnight's new LP Heroes streamed more than 10 MILLION times in just the first month and the band followed the release with a nearly sold out US Headline Tour that included a play at the Hollywood Palladium in LA as well as a performance on the ACL Fest Main Stage both weekends. There is a Japanese term: Mono no aware. It means basically, the sad beauty of seeing time pass - the aching awareness of impermanence. These are the days that we will return to one day in the future only in memories. How do we capture them? How could we possibly be able to fully appreciate them in the present? This project is our attempt to put time under glass.
The Midnight is a marriage between a songwriter from the Deep South and a producer from Denmark who both live in Los Angeles. The songs were written in North Hollywood and Santa Monica over two years and represent the first fruit of The Midnight. This is our love song to our city and a testament to the weight these years can hold.

The Midnight have announced their first live album Red, White and Bruised: The Midnight Live out 1th September on Counter Records. The album will be available digitally as well as limited edition LP and Cassette.
All tracks are taken from their sold-out 2022 US tour in support of their latest studio album Heroes and includes fan favourites like “Sunset”, "Days of Thunder" and "Deep Blue" that displayed “flashy, irresistible melodies and unashamedly shiny productions with mature philosophical lyrical content” (Juno Daily).
The announcement also comes with a special ‘band on the run’ style music video of footage from the fall tour set over Heroes standout track “Heroes”.
The limited edition vinyl released earlier this year for Record Store Day and sold out immediately will see a wider release along with cassettes will be available in 1 of 3 random colours pressed in equal amounts: Blue, Red or ‘Natural’ Clear. Each colour will be randomly packed with no external cue as to which colour is available within the package. The vinyl is housed in a gatefold sleeve with MirriBoard hologram effect alongside a poster insert and download code.
The Midnight’s Fall 2022 tour that followed the release of 'Heroes' saw The Midnight play at high-profile festival Austin City Limits Festival (whose lineup includes Phoenix, James Blake, Flume, and Sofi Tukker) and headline the Hollywood Palladium, the band’s biggest Los Angeles show to date. Their Spring 2022 tour had the band playing high-capacity venues including sold-out stops at Brooklyn Steel, The Wiltern, 9:30 Club, First Avenue, Royale, Majestic Theatre, and more. They also sold out London’s Brixton Academy, playing to 5k fans. The Express lauded their Brixton show, noting that The Midnight “without question, one of the next iconic rock acts of the generation.” Fall 2023 will see the Midnight hitting the road yet again hitting several stops throughout Texas, The Midwest, and New York.
The Midnight released ‘Heroes’–featuring rousing and electrifying singles including “Change Your Heart or Die”, “Heartbeat”, “Avalanche”, “Brooklyn. Friday. Love.”, and “Heart Worth Breaking”–in September 2022, garnering acclaim from the likes of The Express, New Noise Magazine, Music Radar, AllMusic, Juno Daily and The A.V. Club who said “the way these guys walk that retro line—vintage sounds, more modern singing styles—that allows them to relate to a wider audience and make a sultry ’80s sax solo sound cool again.”

Consisting of Danish-born (LA-based) producer Tim McEwan and NYC-based singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle, The Midnight have emerged in recent years as a veritable leader of the synthwave resurgence. More specifically, the duo have received generous support from legions of synthwave enthusiasts, as well as more casual synth-pop fans, ever since their aesthetic-defining debut EP, "Days of Thunder" (2014). Their subsequent LP offering, "Endless Summer" (2016), cemented the duo's reputation as one of the finest new synthwave acts, a sentiment that musical legends (Chicane), renowned artist peers (FM-84), and prominent genre hubs (NewRetroWave) have graciously reinforced of late. The Midnight Remixed, one of our most ambitious releases to date, features brand new remixes by a distinguished group of Silk Music veterans, whose melodic and atmospheric sound has significantly helped to define our brand. We've also recruited a few famed nonresident label contributors, including Lifelike and Michael Cassette, whose specific compositional gifts and musical legacies seemed especially apropos to this 80s-influenced endeavor.
The Midnight Remixed showcases breathtaking new interpretations of The Midnight's past work, ranging in style from drum & bass and deep house to trance & progressive. Michael Cassette, Johan Vilborg, Dezza, Lifelike, PROFF, Terry Da Libra, Sundriver, and Talamanca's exhilarating, club-oriented interpretations feature rapturous chords, and, of course, Tyler's mellifluous and infectious vocal hooks. Offerings from Marsh, Vintage & Morelli, eleven.five, and Mango vs. We Are All Astronauts convey a deeper and more introspective musical tone, but are nonetheless equally memorable.

Since the August 2017 release of "The Midnight Remixed," one of the most thrilling and spiritually rewarding endeavors in our label's history, Tim McEwan and Tyler Lyle, better known as The Midnight, have released a #1 Billboard Dance album ("Kids") and toured much of North America, Europe, and Australia. It is safe to say that the acclaimed discography and global popularity of the Los Angeles and Atlanta-based duo have both grown dramatically, since we at Silk Music last had the privilege of developing and releasing new remixes of their indelible tunes. Indeed, The Midnight is currently in the midst of another world tour, which will take them through the United States, Europe, and ultimately, Mexico, near the end of this year.
Flash forward to today, as we joyously announce the sequel, "The Midnight Remixed 02," featuring brand new remixes of more favorites by The Midnight, from "The Years" (off their debut EP, "Days Of Thunder") to "Lost Boy" (the first single from their most recent LP, "Kids"). This time around, we have recruited a cast of (almost) entirely fresh faces on remix detail, including legendary synthwave artist Timecop1983, indie-electronic phenom Uppermost, acclaimed retro-tinged act ERKKA, and deep-and-dark-progressive maestro Nox Vahn. Russian sensation PROFF, the only artist to appear on both 'Remixed' editions, offers a visionary take on "Kids" that brims with creativity, power, and musicality alike. Rounding out the extraordinary roster of remix artists, Silk Music veterans Claes Rosen, Dan Sieg, Kobana, Blood Groove & Kikis, Jayeson Andel, and A.M.R all deliver emotive and inspired renderings, ranging in style from introspective deep house cuts to cinematic-electronic power ballads. We are truly overjoyed to finally reveal these emotive and intelligent new takes on eleven more of The Midnight's celebrated classics, all of which have never been remixed before.

We are tremendously honored to present the Silk Music debut of The Midnight, consisting of Danish-born (LA-based) producer Tim McEwan and NYC-based singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle. Electing to forge their own path in the ever-evolving landscape of modern music, the bicoastal duo have self-released the majority of their catalogue, up until now. Their music pays homage to the dreamy and uplifting, yet subversively melancholic 80s film and television scores of their youth.
The Midnight's triumphant single, "WeMoveForward," epitomizes the wistful spirit and irrepressible musicality of their oeuvre. The song establishes an exhilarating groove at its onset, soon followed by a gorgeous piano theme, one of the track's most heartfelt and enduring instrumental motifs. Tyler's opening verse captures the intoxicating presence of a sun-kissed beauty, culminating in the titular refrain, which is backed by anthemic chords and exceedingly lush pads. The euphoric groove immediately to follow and extended coda beckon us to celebrate and, ultimately, empathize with the songwriter's lovestruck condition.
Talamanca, the extraordinary composer behind last year's beloved "A Day At The Beach" EP, has emerged as an undeniable force in trance & progressive, thanks to consistent global radio support. Drawing heavy inspiration from the Balearic sound of Chicane and fellow forefathers of the genre, Talamanca seemed to be the perfect fit to rework The Midnight's melodic, romantic, and summer-flavored opus. In the early going, a thrilling, uptempo groove is coupled with mesmerizing arp lines. The crescendo of sound and emotion paves the way for a breathtaking climax, in which Talamanca's lush, layered chords reinforce The Midnight's unforgettable chorus.

The Midnight, consisting of Danish-born (LA-based) producer Tim McEwan and NYC-based singer-songwriter Tyler Lyle, made their triumphant Silk Music debut earlier this year with "WeMoveForward," an electrifying peak-hour anthem. The single has since been championed by the likes of Chicane and Roger Shah. In recent months, the duo have continued to generate tremendous buzz (including hundreds of thousands of streams on YouTube and Spotify) for their latest self-released singles. As fans anxiously await their debut artist album, we have revived their characteristically 80s-inspired classic "Days Of Thunder," featuring a brand new drum & bass remix by Russian legend PROFF.
The Midnight's original version of "Days Of Thunder" kicks off with a start-your-engines sample, hinting at the titular Tom Cruise-helmed feature film. We are soon met by an uptempo groove and Tyler's thrilling vocal, the first of several verses that lyrically feature a playful conceit, regarding the dark side of love. The euphoric, sing-along chorus is punctuated by an equally emotive saxophone riff, which ultimately enjoys an extended solo. The Midnight's neon-tinged instrumentation and inspired vocal performance coalesce in the form of a sonic masterpiece.
Faced with the daunting task of remixing a superlative track, PROFF demonstrates his enviable artistic versatility by tapping his Soultorque alias; the result is another blissful drum & bass rendering. His composition features adrenalin-fueled beats, which are soothingly offset by lush and tranquil pads and other melodic accents. Tyler's emotive vocal soars above PROFF's simultaneously dance-friendly and introspective arrangement.

As we prepare for the mid-August album release of "The Midnight Remixed," we are pleased to present the third and final pre-album single, "Sunset," featuring a brand new remix by iconic 80s-influenced artist Michael Cassette.
There was a sense of destiny behind Michael Cassette's triumphant remix of "Sunset." The Finnish producer's 2010 album, "Temporarity," released on the mighty Anjunadeep stable, remains the benchmark upon which modern-day synthwave is often assessed. Coaxed out of a significant production hiatus, Michael Cassette proves that he has not lost a compositional step. His life-affirming take accentuates The Midnight's euphoric chords and equally inspired, sing-along vocals, not to mention the original cut's hurts-so-good cinematic 80s aesthetic.
In this release, for good measure, we have also included The Midnight's original version of "Sunset," an instant synthwave classic that will forever remain synonymous with the genre. From the song's cinematic opening monologue to its poignant melodic outro, "Sunset" is Tim and Tyler's achingly beautiful ode to fellow wistful souls.

This past summer, we had the enormous privilege of releasing an album of remixes, in celebration of the past work of acclaimed synthwave duo The Midnight. We were thrilled to witness this release reach the Top 25 on the Billboard Dance / Electronic Albums Chart, and The Midnight have since sold out celebrated venues in both San Francisco (DNA Lounge) and Los Angeles (Globe Theatre). Our final single from "The Midnight Remixed" is a love letter to "Synthetic," a distinctive cut in The Midnight's oeuvre, given that it features a rare vocal from the band's producer, Tim McEwan. Initially showcased on the album itself, the glorious Mango vs. We Are All Astronauts remix is, of course, included here, as well as four other eclectic, yet equally inspired new takes.
Kicking off the release, visionary Boston-based composer We Are All Astronauts reveals the first of several collaborative "Synthetic" interpretations; he is joined by American producer and fellow Silk Music newcomer Lost Empire on this specific rendering. In the early going, a gentle house beat, infused with a deep, swingy groove, sits below Tim McEwan's soulful vocal. As the song progresses, a symphonic layer to the arrangement emerges, ultimately leading to a poignant, string-backed main breakdown. Signaling the full thematic metamorphosis of the song's protagonist to a non-human entity, a video-game inspired new melody line carries the midrange to the song's conclusion.
On "The Midnight Remixed," label muse Mango, alongside We Are All Astronauts, revealed his first production in years, an inspired indie-house take on "Synthetic," now appearing on this follow-up single as well. Waves of melody imbue the soundscape with touches of both melancholy and euphoria, which is to say: Mango is in vintage form from the song's earliest moments. The juxtaposition of Tim's wistful vocal with Mango & WAAA's uplifting instrumentation feels pitch-perfect for the nostalgic mood evoked by The Midnight's music, in general.
Finally, We Are All Astronauts offers his own solo interpretation, in which the arrangement is denuded of any percussive elements via a glorious, fully orchestral three-minute intro. The heartrending instrumentation, matched by Tim's affecting vocal performance, sets up a cathartic, 'post-rock' finale, in which ambient-electronic textures provide the underpinning for an edgy and, ultimately, anthemic rock score. As Tim's vocal gently fades into a sea of symphonic sounds, the coda poignantly captures the transience of life's beauty.

Silk Music is honored to present an inspired new remix of The Midnight's "Shadows," courtesy of French virtuoso Uppermost. A household name amongst the indie-electronic set, due in part to several extraordinary artist albums over the past decade, Uppermost is an especially thrilling addition to our artist roster. Not unlike The Midnight, Uppermost was heavily influenced by the cult film "Drive," and his recent "Given by Nature" artist album -- a veritable masterpiece -- combines retro-laced electronic motifs with modern production techniques, to emotive and exhilarating effect.
The first of several 'remixed' singles ahead of our forthcoming "The Midnight Remixed 02" album release, Uppermost's remix of "Shadows" is a slow-burner that not only showcases The Midnight's evocative songwriting and (often) noir-tinged aural aesthetic, but also Uppermost's equally cinematic musical stylings. A dramatic, beat-less intro shines a spotlight on Tyler Lyle's gripping first verse; at the quarter turn, powerful, reverb-heavy drums begin to propel the arrangement forward, soon followed by an Uppermost signature: an entrancing series of pitched vocal effects, which conspire to create one of the song's most memorable hooks. The arrangement's patient crescendo reveals the second verse of "Shadows," later joined by the soaring, unforgettable refrain, "Shadows in the city / I'm a stranger to myself / On these streets I'm someone else." Following this climactic sequence, Uppermost treats the listener to his ornate orchestration one last time, as the arrangement features a dazzling coda, replete with the French maestro's mesmerizing, robot-on-acid vocal effects.

The second single from our forthcoming "The Midnight Remixed 02" album features the legendary Timecop1983, a dear friend and occasional collaborator of The Midnight. With last year's single release, "Static," the synthwave community witnessed the first ever co-production between these two celebrated acts. For the first time, Timecop1983 has graced The Midnight with a remix of their work: an ambient-retro rendering of "Arcade Dreams," one of the most cinematic and thematically rich pieces from The Midnight's recent "Kids" LP.
Timecop1983's ornate take of "Arcade Dreams" begins with some of the most familiar motifs from the original version of the tune, as well as the "Kids" album as a whole, including the eternally cheerful voices of children at play in the background. Following a one-minute cinematic intro that centers on soaring, retro-laden synths, the listener is treated to an infusion of "live" drums, which bolster the anthemic power of the composition. The patient crescendo of the arrangement finally comes to a climax with an intensified drum sequence, as well as the arrival of several gorgeous new variations on the main melodic themes. Completing the narrative, Timecop1983 leaves us with the glitchy echoes of a chorus of 8-bit video games, the ultimate sonic homage to the soundtrack of our childhoods.

The third and final single from our forthcoming "The Midnight Remixed 02" album showcases a remix from PROFF, the one and only artist featured on this release to have also appeared on the first installment of the 'Remixed' series. More specifically, PROFF's interpretation of The Midnight's "Days Of Thunder" (under his Soultorque guise) proved to be a standout from the last edition, so it seemed well-advised to give the Russian phenom an opportunity to reinterpret one of The Midnight's equally beloved, but more recent productions. The result, a "Dub" take on The Midnight's "Kids," is an exceedingly groovy and suspenseful progressive house anthem that pays homage to the late-night, noir-influenced side of The Midnight's songwriting.
PROFF's remix of "Kids" begins with a foreboding intro, centering on a heavily filtered rhythm and the faint echoes of the song's moody background pads. The monster, previously lurking in the shadows, arrives at the quarter turn in the form of a thunderous bassline, which propels the remainder of the tune. As the arrangement patiently crescendoes, we begin to hear the distant voices of the choir from the original version of the song: "Kids are sad, the sky is blue / There are monsters in the spare bedroom." In this musical context, their spirited, chantlike voices sound and feel revolutionary, further catalyzing the arrangement and enhancing its emotional resonance. PROFF deploys his extraordinary technical and musical gifts in the song's final act, in which the beautifully mixed sonic layers coalesce and completely enrapture the listener.

LA-based band The Midnight have unveiled their new single “Change Your Heart Or Die”, out now on Counter Records. Signifying a shift in sonic direction for The Midnight, “Change Your Heart Or Die” combines unashamedly bold guitar licks with infectious vocals - an anthemic jam that leaves a lasting impression.
Speaking on the new single, The Midnight say, “Since we’ve begun touring, our music has continued to be influenced by communal, live experiences. This is something we’ve missed for the last two years. We wanted to write a song that was about having a collective experience with other people and singing something raw at the top of our lungs. This song, when you sing it together, becomes more than the sum of its parts The song started with the track idea for the verses, and Tyler had the lyrics which he had produced himself to a house track, but it wasn’t until we got the call and response chorus that the song took on the life of a metal anthem.”
“Change Your Heart Or Die” comes hot off the heels of an extensive tour across North America. The Midnight’s recent video for “Good In Red (Live)” featured a robust five-piece band, dazzling stage setup, and an impassioned vocal performance from Lyle filmed at multiple stops along the tour. Their captivating performance made rounds in multiple sold out shows in major cities including New York, Chicago, Toronto, Philadelphia and Washington DC.
Consisting of Tyler Lyle, a songwriter from the Deep South, and Danish producer Tim McEwan, The Midnight formed in 2012 feeling indebted to Johnny Jewel/Chromatics and Cliff Martinez’s OST Drive and the resurgence of classic synth sounds growing around its release, the pair wrote two singles “WeMoveForward” and “Gloria”, that would later be released as part of their debut EP ‘Days of Thunder’. The band then released 12-track LP ‘Endless Summer’ in 2016 and ‘Nocturnal’ the year after, which spent several weeks as a Bandcamp best-seller. This followed with 2018’s ‘Kids’ that reached #1 on the Billboard ‘Dance/Electronic’ charts. Their most recent album, ‘Monsters’, came last year, an acclaimed LP described by The Express as their “most stylish and creative music yet”.
The band over a few short years of forming, have achieved over 452 million + catalogue streams, while gaining 972K Spotify Monthly reach peak and 70 million + YouTube channel views. They have grown from online cult fascination to international touring band, with sold out multiple worldwide tours from their past two albums. Their 2020 album ‘Monsters’ alone sold over 50,000 equivalent albums worldwide, charting in the US, UK and Australia and sold out in every format amassing 50 million+ streams 18 months after release. Their immersive world-building attracts a rabid fanbase that is now over 1 million strong across profiles and platforms seeing over 16M TikTok video views, over 700K Shazams and 300K Genius page views.
