Duffrey is an electronic music producer with a unsatisfiable hunger for brain tickling soundscapes and funky bass. Woody Klann, an Oakland based drummer and musician from a young age, has been squeezing sounds from his environment since he can remember. His style is heavily influenced by a chilled-out west coast bass flavor introduced to him during his time spent in the NW and California. Duffrey's goal is to convert brainwaves into vibrational energy that takes control of your body and leaves you with a tingly sensation. Dynamic, colorful, imaginative… “The World That You Know” is a beautiful and bizarre exploration through the depths of a kaleidoscopic rabbit hole consisting of grooving rhythms, humanoid melodies and creamy bass synthesis.
Wandering through lush and outlandish atmospheres, one is asked to suspend their (dis)belief and question where they are. Forged with careful precision and dedication over the last three years, Duffrey’s first full length album is a flowing storybook of thoughts, grooves and spaces that altogether become an homage to the explorative spirit of music.
As each piece unfolds, lively organic instrumentation seamlessly fuses with meltingly weird and wonky sound design to create a musical experience that is at once unique and accessible, intelligent and playful, deep and cheeky, funky and real. Traversing the stereo spaces beyond his traditional catalog, Duffrey has been at the forefront of an aural and social injection of Drum and Bass into the bloodstream of the wider bass music landscape.
Brandishing a reputation for rhythmic swagger and tight instrumental interplay, his pronounced characteristics find a natural home at elevated bpm’s, delivering both an homage to and an evolution on the sound at the center of the Shred the Infinite EP. Duffrey is heading on tour this year as direct support for nine dates on Daily Bread’s ‘Invisible Cinema Tour’ along with several other exciting plays at Envision Festival and Meow Wolf in Denver.
