Reclusive veterans of the live music scene, Tycho occasionally gig around their home city of Brisbane and beyond, either as a duo or augmented by additional personnel.
Between shows they retire to Tycho Central, a bunker full of vintage synthesisers, drum machines and science fiction memorabilia. Tycho have had numerous releases, traded remixes with a number of bands, appeared on compilations the world over, and shared the stage with acts such as The Human League, VNV Nation, John Foxx, Covenant, Pseudo Echo, and Real Life.

During the time of recording what would become the Triplex series of EPs, the band went through several personnel changes, and suffered the loss of their studio in Brisbane's devastating flood of January 2011. This resulted in a long period of rebuilding and recovery, only to be followed by yet another flood scare, and ultimately a complete relocation of the band's facility to higher, safer ground. Overall, this delayed the finalisation of the Triplex EP series by at least two years. The founding duo of the band, Ken Evans and Georgina Emery, emerging from this period of adversity with a new resilience, focus, and strength of purpose, elected to continue with the project. After a brief dalliance with Hi-NRG dance music (Sex Rocket, 2012), the Triplex EP series sees a return to Tycho Brahe's original direction, as established on their first album Cassiopeia in 2000, and further explored on 2006's Atlantic. released December 1, 2013 Recorded and mixed at Tycho Central Studios, Brisbane, Australia. The duo had a residency at an Adelaide nightclub called Infinity in September/October 1989, and would perform onstage with synthesizers, a sampler, a drum machine, hardware sequencer and four go-go dancers on podiums. A cassette player with a prerecorded 30 second "Club House Theme" was utilized between songs, to allow the half-minute required to load sample and sequence data from floppy disks into the onstage equipment. Whilst some 4-track cassette recordings were made at the time, none of those compositions were professionally recorded. Ken Evans retained the programmed data and most of the equipment used by Club House. In 2017, working from the data programmed by the duo in 1989, which had been carefully archived on floppy discs and cassette tapes, and utilizing the same synthesizers, sampler, sequencer and drum machine used 28 years prior, Evans revived and reworked the Club House song "Acitech". Most of the original programming, sounds and samples remain, but with updated production. The mix is named the "Infinity Mix" as a sentimental reference to the nightclub where the song was performed live. Infinity, previously known as The Toucan, was located at 181 Hindley Street in Adelaide, and as of 2017 the same building still serves as a nightclub. The recording is credited as "Tycho Brahe vs Club House" as it spans both bands of which Ken Evans was a member, and whilst not strictly a Tycho Brahe release, neither is it a Club House release - it stands as an odd hybrid utilizing the almost three decade old programming of one creative endeavor, and the production techniques of the other. To mark the 25th birthday of Dreams of Dying, the band has completed new mixes of the song using the Cassiopeia album vocals and some other audio elements recorded during 1998-99, plus some re-recorded parts, with an accompanying video being re-cut from a live 2004 video. Dreams of Dying 2021 includes the new mix from the video, plus a new dub mix which shows off some elements of the song in a new light, and a new mix of the original live arrangement, aka the "full length" version. The artwork for this release is derived from an alternative but unused version of the Cassiopeia front cover. The liner notes of the Cassiopeia album included the statement, "It's been a long journey, and it's only the beginning..." and here we are still on that journey.
