Philipp Münch - Armageddon (4:04) know your history: ars moriendi originated in the - undisputedly historic - autumn of 1989, more a collective than a band, teeming with youthful energy and idealism. in the following five years they would record half a dozen albums on their very own fich-art label, stylistically shifting from industrial-with-punk-rock-aesthetics to an exploration of deeper and darker musical realms. these cassette-only release were later recollected on a lavish ant-zen retrospective, and while the single members were already continuing their creative efforts recording and performing in units such as asche, templegarden's, morgenstern, monokrom, mandelbrot and synapscape (to name a few), ars moriendi also graced the maschinenfest stage in 2002 and 2008 for reunion shows. seminal, influential, legendary - one may choose the adjective of his own liking for this band, it's all true. life in the here and now: these are unsettling and uncertain times, so the music of ars moriendi is as topical as it was back then. and, their music is simply too strong to just sink into oblivion, so philipp münch (who has been the most constantly active musician of the original line-up) as the trustee of the ars moriendi heritage has meticulously re-recorded twelve original tracks with contemporary means of production. rhythmic bangers like 'deeper trance', 'meiner selbst' or 'splatter me!' pack a punch, upfront tracks like 'bewegung' or 'valium' are as confrontational as ever, 'kingdom ov trust' represents the solemn and sinister side of am, and 'verworrene welt' takes us back to those apocalyptic outlooks of the passing cold war, making an alarming comeback. In 1997, he stopped this project due personal reasons. The Rorschach Garden was reactivated in 2001, made its first public appearance at the Maschinenfest 2002 in Aachen, Germany. After this, some other live perfomances were held with the help of some of Philipp's closer friends. Ever since, TRG has grown into a proper band with a steady lineup and a great reputation for live performances. The Rorschach Garden - 25 Years (3:29) bazooka joe is proud to present the rorschach garden's first full length cd (after several vinyl and cd-r releases). this debut cd features 18 of the finest 80s / retro-minimal-electro tracks recorded since 1997. the rorschach garden was started by p.muench (when he was 20 years of age ) as a one-man project in 1988. initially the project made its way in the underground tape scene. in the beginning, p.muench experimented with a synth (his first one) and created something that was somewhere between ambient, industrial and avantgarde. this first trg phase ended in 1996 due to p.muench's engagement in other musical projects. in 2001 trg came back to life and with this resurrection there was a change of musical direction toward synth-pop and minimal-electro. the new phase was kicked off with the first 7" vinyl release on bazooka joe. "state protection" surprisingly became a small club hit and the now deleted 7" is a cult object for minimal-electro addicts. then, b.teichner and n.pohlmann joined the group for studio recordings and for well received live appearances. on this cd, you will find unreleased tracks along with carefully selected material that was previously available only on vinyl ('state protection' is one of them). you can expect to hear catchy melody lines, minimal sequences, a unique voice and a cover version that will cause enthusiastic reactions for eighties fans: '25 years' by the catch. released October 4, 2004

The Rorschach Garden - All My Friends Turned Into Plastic (We're Sent Back To 1989 Remix By Memmaker) (4:44) 42 times around the sun, not normally a time span associated with the completion of a lifecycle, but this album feels a lot like it. this is the sixth full-length in six years, and it really is a musical stroll through the styles and contents trg have explored so far, with a strong emphasis on progress and refinement. what once started with a very retro sound has now got a lot of modern aspects sonically. also it seems no coincidence the sun is mentioned in the album title - not much gloominess to be found here, positivity is the word. philipp münch has invited some well-known friends to join him on vocals while his own style of singing has also progressed with the vocals barely untreated, working just fine with his probably most interesting and diverse lyrics so far. 42 times around the sun starts with the uptempo ‘automatic’, something trg hasn’t done in a while. more in the classic trg vein with the more familiar melodies are ‘broken’ and ‘unusual romance’, the latter being a heart-felt declaration of love by the charging cable to its connected mobile (!), and yes, it does remind somehow of the b 52's. ‘some reasons to call this time the hate-ies’ is not only a clever reference to the morrissey quote, not only a punch into the face of the narrow-minded nostalgist, but also a wonderful party track. dirk ivens delivers unmistakable backing vocals on ‘living in a cage’ while genevieve pasquier does so on the anti-paparazzi track ‘how to become invisible’. ‘(in search) of the amber room’ is a detroit-tinged electro smash with the immortal line 'what has gone lost must be found, underwater, in the ground.' other standout tracks are the devo-style ‘micro machines’, a duet with synapscape partner tim, and the wonderful ‘red light’, a track in timeless pop tradition, and maybe the ultimate earworm trg have created so far, featuring background lyrics by scott milton of american newcomer act the present moment. the latter also performs the entire vocals of ‘rejection’, a spine-tingling trance-infused ballad that makes way for the closing title, a very upbeat remix by memmaker. 42 times around the sun is nothing less than a classic pop album, tightly produced and with a coherent mood, yet enough diversity in sound and content, and it displays the enormous musical talent of philipp at new heights. released February 11, 2010

'tales from a fragile mind' is a definite case of an aptly chosen title and a return to the core values and themes of trg. think the trademark lovingly assembled analogue beats and melodies, think the marginal pop appeal oscillating between joy and melancholy, think the lyrics about lost and found loves and social oppression. and this time: also think munich machine style computer disco sounds as a leitmotif of this album. no genres, no conventions, just an expression of individuality through heartfelt music - 13 tales of a fragile mind, plus a remix by like-minded canadian artist displacer. it has been over three years since the last trg album, and while the previous releases had always seen an increasing number of guest vocalists and collaborators, the 13 original tracks on 'tales of a fragile mind' are the offspring of philipp münch’s creativity alone. the lyrics are more revealing than ever, dealing with the challenges of love and relationships ('control', 'nothing matters'), rejection of individuality ('stay in line'), autobiographic remorse ('my major mistake') and sleazy fantasies ('faith and obedience'). of course there are a number of classic trg pop songs with a slightly dark appeal ('experiments with me', 'that fading line', 'simple minded'), but also a fair share of novelty tunes: the opener 'fun tastica' sports a bouncing sub-house beat and tweaking synth sounds and 'distant disco' is driven by a patrick cowley style hi-nrg bass lead, while 'a little piece of moog' is a psychedelic space electro fantasy. the uptempo 'visions without a meaning' even boasts moroder style melody fragments, before 'we’re all gonna die' brings 'tales of a fragile mind' to a seemingly desolate end. then there’s an encore: the displacer remix of the last track, a perfect example of how to completely alter your subject matter, he turns the originally quiet and downbeat tune into a beautiful widescreen, cinematic wall of sound. The Rorschach Garden - Decay (3:44) 'a game of passion', more than an album title this is a manifesto for the rorschach garden: passion is the one big reason why philipp münch has been pushing the project since 1988. this out-of-line collection of 12 tracks perfectly showcases the current state of the rorschach garden sound, electronic pop for the back alleys. beside the steady regular cd releases, for some years trg have had a tradition of collecting more obscure tracks, some of which may have appeared via social media or other channels, and collecting them on small handmade editions supplied to good friends only. but the good news is, this time around they have decided on a proper release in digital format (yes, it’s been a long way since the days in the tape scene)! 'a game of passion' is much more than the collected leftovers from 2014-15 (even though everyone knows, sometimes the leftovers make a great meal again), but this is quite close to a regular trg album, albeit exploring the possibilities of the download format. the nearly 50 minutes of 'a game of passion' sound very coherent and display the trademark trg sound in its best shape: analogue, but not lopsidedly retro, deeply melancholic, but also resiliently positive, determined, but never aggressive. there will be a dear favorite for everyone among these tunes, e.g. the introverts’ anthem 'born this way', the dreamt journey to 'norway', 'nothing stops our craze' - an unashamed declaration of love, or perhaps the sci-fi instrumental 'perry rhodan', which one is for you? whatever you choose, in music, in life, the rorschach garden encourage you to always play your game with passion! released April 22, 2016

Ars Moriendi - Es Schreit (4:02) ars moriendi was founded in 1989 by p. münch (rhythm, synths, metals), a. schramm (guitar, voice), s. pügge (voice, metals) and u. münch (bass, voice). in march 1990 they released their first tape (dildo), which was a strange mixture of punk, new wave and experimentation. during the summer of 1990 u. münch left the band due to the fact that a.m.'s style became more electronic orientated. after their second tape (freudentränen), a.m.'s music developed into a darker and more ritualistic sound. in 1991 a. börner (synths, voice) joined the band and they spent a lot of time developing a new direction. a direction that could be heard on the tapes 'über-leben' (1993) and 'boom survivor' (1994), in addition to their more song orientated work they did the 'hexass' project. this project only used tapes/effects and the result was a noisier and more collage oriented work. in the end of 1994 a.m. came to an end because the solo-projects of all the members became more important. their first vinyl release, 'the final document', was also their last official one. the cd+lp set 'memorandum' was a final retrospective of the work that ars moriendi did between 1990 and 1995. in short it was a collection of tracks previously released on different tapes. "endlich - es ist vorbei!" (a.m.). hmmm... or was it? it seems not. the announcement of an a.m. live performance that features almost all of the original members at maschinenfest in aachen was the initial surprise, and now ant-zen presents a 7" containing three songs already released on tape but re-recorded this year! compared to the a.m. members' other projects (synapscape, asche, morgenstern, templegarden's, the rorschach garden, m.o.a.t.a. omen...) ars moriendi is the most 'band oriented' project to date. you can even find guitars on this 7" and the distorted strings add almost a 'rock' feeling to the harsh power-rhythms and the german vocal screams. their ambient roots are replaced here with some good, rough, dirty e-rock'n'roll (or maybe punk?). enough to keep your party going! released October 5, 2002

So they went to visit a household liquidation shop. There the desired was found not less than three times. The three old clocks were dismantled, the striking mechanisms were removed and assembled into a new instrument, which was henceforth called the 'Time Machine'. Inspired by the construction of this instrument, three instrumental pieces were recorded. Live and without additional audio tracks. Teichner, Leigh Hunt, Philipp Münch, Tim Kniep This project was founded in 1993 as a colaboration of the former cult-project Ars Moriendi by Phillip Münch (Synapscape) and Andreas Schramm (Asche). The aim is very dense, ritual-ambient sounds. In 1995 Andrea Börner (Morgenstern) joined this project. They made several interesting live-performances all over Germany. Actually Templegarden's is organized as a loose collective with several friends (among whom are Leigh Hunt and Raison d'Etre), so the sound-variety has become enormous; but always in the mystic ritual sector. Old fairytales, nature, magic places and the unexplainable are their main inspirations. Most of the sounds are a result of sampled ethno-loops, a convertion from natural analog datas to digital. So the technical aspect of this project becomes a symbol for the dialectical relationship between nature and (industrial) culture, which can be experienced in those special Templegarden's atmosphere: the impression of ritual-emotional maturalness, which we're all seeking, is satisfied by the result of a technical cultural act. Cell Auto Mata - Trisol Swap (4:17) after six years and several releases on different labels, matthieu maire decided to cancel all activities that were executed under the celluloid mata moniker. but it wasn’t his intention to end his musical activities - something just had to change. as a member of the ant family he was in contact with philipp münch (synapscape, ars moriendi and a solo artist (rorschach garden)). mata decided to exchange musical ideas with philipp and a new project was formed. a project that would include the creative output of both musicians. hence, cell auto mata was created. maybe you heard the first result on ant zen’s 'daruma' compilation and maybe you wanted to get some more - well, here it is. we proudly present cell auto matas first full length release. the first impression you might have while listening to this cd is that these are songs - not just “tracks”. for instance, 'huevos de oro' or 'ish galil' are based on a 4/4 beat, melodies and even vocals – in other words they are structured like a song. but this isn’t pop; the industrial and technoid influences of both members melt together and deliver music that is beyond a listener’s expectations and previous listening experiences. the cd's mood seems to be quite dark and serious at first, but as the title implies: the devil is in the detail (and behind the surface). you need more time for this record than you might initially think (also you need time to check out all the nice little photos on the cover). those who are familiar with both of the artist’s previous releases might be able to identify the musical roots of this cd. such as the 'synapscape-ish' sequencer treatments in 'gws hearse' or the 'surf-organ' on 'hipsters'. nevertheless, this cd is an original and should not be seen as 'just another collaboration'. it should be heard as the debut album that it actually is. released September 13, 2003
