"I never fell out of love with the synth music of the 1980’s: Depeche Mode, The Human League, Pet Shop Boys, OMD, and Gary Numan, just to name a few of my heroes. I definitely try to evoke their sensibilities in my own music. Juxtaposing the coldness of the electronic synthesizer with the soulfulness of songs about the human heart was one of the most intriguing aspects of 1980’s new wave. Bands like Soft Cell, Yazoo, and Erasure did an awesome job of it. In my own music, I wanted to take a similar path, and also push the lyrical constructs of science and technology to explore human relationships. How we relate, connect, and manage the inevitable failures inherent in all fragile machinery is what interests me the most. My first collection of songs revolves very closely around the concept of communication. The band name, Maxwell’s Complex, was inspired by Maxwell’s Equations, which are “a set of partial differential equations that form the foundation of classical electrodynamics and electric circuits. These fields in turn underlie modern electrical and communications technologies.” (Yep, I read a lot of Wikipedia). The debut album from Maxwell's Complex: First Transmission, was released on 5.1.12, and is widely available on iTunes, Amazon.com, and pretty much anywhere else you get your digital music fix."
