German born Volker Albert Barber started playing the piano at age 5. After going to college for Germanistics, Anglistics, Linguistics, he decided to follow his passion and studied piano with Hilgard Stenda of Munich University, also at Peter Cornelius Conservatory in Mainz, and studied the correspondence course of Berklee College of Music.At this time he also played top 40 hits in American clubs and fusion rock- jazz in clubs in Germany.
He then joined "Hired Help Band" and won the German Academy Award "ECHO" (equal to a “Grammy”), for best Newcomer band.
Volker then joined German top rockband Tokyo, opening for Meatloaf on Europe tour. He also toured as keyboardist internationally with Jennifer Rush.
As synthesizer/sampling product specialist for PPG, a leading brand in the market, he travelled Europe and the US, show- casing state of the art technology including numerous Namm Shows and Frankfurt Musikmesse. He concepted, organized and performed international workshop tours and clinics for PPG, AKAI, DYNACORD, and did sounddesign and presentations also for the WALDORF synths.
As a recording artist he can be heard of hundreds of studio sessions & productions worldwide, catering for arrangements, playing keyboards, programming synths for artists such as Terence Trent d ´Arby, Milli Vanilli and Meatloaf. He contributed as a composer to the showmusic CD of Las Vegas magicians Siegfried & Roy, the compilation album of Formula1 champion Michael Schumacher, writing and producing music for Olympic performance of German participant Magdalena Brzeska and Boxing World champion Marcus Beyer and wrote the themesong and winner song for the Oliver Kahn TV show. He also was invited for the 2010 Worldexpostion in Beijing to participate in the theme music and made it to the top10 tracks.
Volker had setttled in Frankfurt/Germany to work in his own studio, producing all day - everyday. Volker built a successful career not only in the recording industry. He composed for cinema, TV, radio, artists, commercials, branding and show events as songwriter, producer, keyboardist, arranger and composer. Over the years he released on major labels like EMI, SONY, BMG, WARNER, RCA-VICTOR, UNIVERSAL, MOTOWN with charts entries in both the dance and commercial sales charts. His TV credits include docu series, prime time features and a title song for the "Julius Caesar" TV series.Many known brands use his music .
For quite a few years he produced jingles and trailers for a series of over 300 syndicated radio shows for DOVE, FERRARI, BAYER & SHELL for the emerging Chinese market; highlighting in an album production for "JADE" a Chinese girl group of four winners of a "Chineses Idol" format. They were the first act from China ever to enter a Top 100 chart outside the PRC.
Moving to the US he enforced his TV music career and has music placements on chanel like NBC, Foxsports, National Geographics, Animal Planet, German channels like ARD, RTL, ZDF, other European countries and far east like Chinese CCTV, Malaysia etc..He currently resides in Los Angeles with his wife and daughter, inspired by the California lifestyle and media world.
