Gerd Weyhing - Silence and Ecstasy (12:28) Pano | The Expanse Where Landscapes and Soundscapes Combine Pano is the third project born from the collaboration between The Electronomicon Group & Dhatura Records which began in 2013 with the 'Future Imperfect' project and culminated in an early 2014 release. Future Imperfect explored a future where things just didn't turn out as we had hoped or expected. No flying cars, hover boards & no happy robot servants. More so, a dystopian wasteland of broken dreams and malfunctioning Technology. Spanning 2 CD's & 26 tracks, 'Future Imperfect' made such a future somehow more palatable... Almost inviting! Later in 2014, the Electronomicon Group and Dhatura Records combined forces again to produce the '1984 - A Retrospective' project which celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the year 1984 with wonderfully realised reinterpretations of hit songs from that year. Dare we say, 1984 is a 'must have album' that will reignite many nostalgic moments from your youth. It is the intention for each collaborative project to be a complete departure from previous works. Entirely removed from everything we have done before and this brings us up to this moment with the release of Pano. The concept behind Pano was to find a series of breathtaking, Panoramic images and hand them over to extremely talented electronic musicians to interpret as long form, musical compositions. Their goal was to find the soul within these stunning vistas and give them a voice so that they may all talk and sing in their own unique language for the first time. Pano is a series of sonnets for the visual cortex. Songs for the minds eye. Music for sunrises and sunsets, for rainy days, quiet nights and all the other deeply meditative moments in our lives. The phrase and concept was first coined by the author “FM-2030” in 1972. What started as futurist ideas have eventually become evolving ideas held by thousands of individuals linking across the internet. The scientific community has embraced new concepts in human evolution, leaving us- the artists- the opportunity to focus on exploring new tools to enhance our senses and develop alternative realities. New evolutionary words and phrases have come to pass; nanotech, biotech, A-Life, AI, transhuman, automorph, avatar, singularity. Transhumanism marks the beginning of our evolution from human as we improve the human condition. Put simply, humans are biological animals. The Transhuman is at a transitional stage of merging with technologies resulting in a shedding a biological exclusivity. It seems time for artists to explore these new ideas – and to give them the art of life. Electronomicon’s first compilation album, Future Imperfect, dwelt on the dark and dystopian possibilities of the future – how multi-national corporations and corrupt governments would eventually bring the downfall of civilised society – how misused technology would eventually destroy us as a species. “Transhuman” is different – This album will be a celebration of the power of technology and its effect on the human condition. How things hitherto completely impossible at the moment may become instantly possible. How technological advancements may improve our species and be the driving force in evolving us into beings capable of the greatest feats. Our evolution has been a cumulative process. Footprints across time have left traces of our reach beyond ourselves for something better. From the earliest plebeian cultures to the advanced complexities of social systems the future has been unfolding. A year made famous by George Orwell's dystopian masterpiece, Crack Cocaine, AIDS, Questionable Fashion, Bad Hair, Great Movies and Incredible Music! Russian programmer Alexey Pajitnov released the highly addictive Tetris and the worlds Super Powers signed the Moon Treaty banning any country from turning that big, old ball of cheese into a Nuclear Clad Death Star. We witnessed the emergence of new school Hip Hop with noticeable progressions in both rapping technique and the accompanying music & rhythms, and sadly, waved a tearful goodbye to Marvin Gaye. In 1984, we had taken our rst real steps into the digital world with Sony & Philips introducing the rst CD Players, Apple launching the MacintoshvComputer & Bell Labs manufacturing the rst Megabit Chip (Whoah!). Though we were blissfully unaware at the time, this was a pivotal year for electronic musicians such as we. A year that would herald the way forward. The year that began, for better or for worse, the midi revolution... (well.... sort of). KORG released their Digital/Analogue hybrid, The Poly 800, Akai the AX80, Roland released the now famous Juno 106 and Yamaha's DX7 was front and centre of music video. If only we had science degree's so we would understand how to program it! New Romanticism was waning but the androgyny was not. Shoulder Pads, Garish Colours, Hairspray and Lipstick were the order of the day... and fucking Keytars!!! Happy 30th Birthday 1984! '1984 - A Retrospective' is the second collaboration between E-Con, Dhatura Records and The Wetlands Productions. The goal of this tribute album is to share with you, our nostalgia. To draw the eyes of a new generation back to the original artists and their incredibly enduring music, and for them to be enjoyed as we did all those years ago. This compilation is completely FREE.
