DeepWarmth is a sonic melding of beats, usually but not limited to, Dub Techno and Ambient Techno. Also included on this are Ambient works of various kinds as James Shain. Since 2009 James Shain has striven to carve out his own place in the vast world of Electronic Music with his style influenced by quite a number of artists from all over the world including Japan. DeepWarmth - Ratio (Of Silver) [Coppice Halifax Evaporant] (10:56) Prefacing his upcoming debut album for RP (Start Of An Ending, scheduled for release sometime in 2014), DeepWarmth provided us with a lovely expanded-single for his dub techno missive "Ratio (Of Silver)". Watery, wavering chords rain softly down on a static bass and kick rhythm that never deviates from its train track. DeepWarmth revisits and revises his cut on a version, then pulls the curtain back to allow a few other producers to have their own things to say through the window of "Ratio". Textural Being, appearing here under his newer alias aspect., brings an overwhelmingly feel-good organic techno mix, with hints of lush summery house. Zander One bathes "Ratio" in blue water, freezes it and then slowly thaws it beneath a soft orange lamp. Optic_ reduces it to a gentle fog of wafting chords and nearly unspoken whispering delay trails, while Axs creates a Red Dye reshape that removes "Ratio" from techno confines and transports it to a distant land, somewhere far East, in a crimson desert adorned only by metal bells and stretched-skin drums that are occasionally moved into musical shapes by the lonesome wind. Following this, Ocralab dials in with his usual isolationist approach, sending "Ratio" out into the Earth's atmosphere and re-recording it as it bounces back to him over secret radio waves. Closing the experience is an atmospheric Coppice Halifax remix that burns the original track to ashes, makes pigment with the remains and paints a colorfully subdued piece of Impressionist techno across a sunsetting skyline. Altogether, the single that becomes an album is a surprisingly varied listen, with very little resemblance to the source material from track to track, and leaves us with high hopes for the next DeepWarmth excursion at RP. Additionally, Coppice Halifax has issued a very limited edition CD-R containing his Evaporant mix, and a second epic 32 minute remix called Glacial Fortress. DeepWarmth - Ratio (Of Silver) [Coppice Halifax Evaporant] (10:56) Recycled Plastics has recently issued an expanded single for DeepWarmth's "Ratio (Of Silver)", containing several remixes of the track. This release is a special limited edition physical pressing of the two Coppice Halifax remix constructs for Ratio, a double fantasy of lush pads, airy open atmospheres, radiant drones and organic rhythms. Clocking in at a massive 32 minutes, Glacial Fortress is yet another example of just how deep the CH submersible is able to go these days, as it was created using ONLY source sound from DeepWarmth's original track (this remixing code has been the CH mantra for the last year or so). Dub techno drifting along at the rate of melting icecaps, blurry and spacious. The second mix, Evaporant, hearkens back to the first Ocean Lion album in 2008. Ratio's chords are reduced to smears of soft pastel color on a wintery skyline, and a warm bass pulse slowly rises from the fog to keep you nice and comfortable for 11 minutes. I was asked by Rohs! for a release, and sent them this, and they wanted 4 tracks. so I finished up another track from around that time and called it Underwater Dub, pt 2" - James Shain ROR welcomes our buddy James back to the label with another DeepWarmth release. Although James is always in the behind the scenes of ROR, he hasn't released any of his own material since his 'Waiting For Something' album under his actual name. This one is really special because this is material that was made during 2010-2011, before his DeepWarmth alias had a mature catalog of releases. James Shain has passed these tracks to the label so they will finally be released to the public. ROR has also invited remixers to take part in this release, re-imagining these tracks into works of their own. Something also special to note is that Cristiano Campos's remixes were originally going to be it's own release back in 2011.
