Both Harm and Merijn have roots in the filming industry, which is also where they met in 2010. When they found out they were sharing the same love and ambition for creating electronic music they decided to team up as a producers duo. Merijns background is more triphop and rock orientated, Harm is influenced by jazz and house music. Because of their different backgrounds they blend the best of these genres together in their combined work.Albums Tracklist:

Weval - Years To Build (5:16) When Kompakt came across Amsterdam-based Harm Coolen and Merijn Schotte Albers aka WEVAL back in 2014, we were blown away when we heard their slow-burning, darkly emotive tracks. Their debut EP “Half Age” on Atomnation featured painfully intimate and surprisingly kinetic electronic chamber pop that convinced us they were a perfect fit in Kompakt's family. Following two widely acclaimed EPs for Kompakt and playing numerous festivals including DGTL, Reeperbahn, Iceland Airwaves and Piknic Electronik, we now see the two tackle their self-titled debut full-length WEVAL. What you have before you is not a mere collection of tracks, but a complete listening experience with organic flow, emotional heft and a narrative thread. Smitten with WEVAL's uniquely personal and catchy approach to producing dark electronic music, it didn't take much to win us over... and so came WEVAL's acclaimed 2014 label debut EASIER EP (KOMPAKT 318), followed by the bold and beautiful 2015 offering IT'LL BE JUST FINE / GROW UP (KOMPAKT 344) which saw the two soundsmiths digging deeper into the granularities of electronic funk than ever before. However, Harm and Merijn's music - while astonishingly fully-formed even in its earliest stages - always seemed destined for more, a bigger format, more space to explore the nooks and crannies of their rapidly evolving sound cosmos. Simply put, they needed to think about an album and their beloved living room studio wasn't cutting it anymore. An old school building became WEVAL's new home, repurposed to house small creative businesses - but in the summer of 2015, it was abandoned most of the time, with everybody out in the sun while our heroes turned the building's attic into a sweet spot to make some noise, have 24-hour access and lose track of time. And apart from a sketchy tenant being evicted, the occasional soccer game with friends and live gigs across Europe, there really was no interruption to the focussed vibe. It's not like they were looking for distraction anyway: "working on the album all by ourselves in this bloody hot attic was all we had on our mind", the artists admit. And they decided that their album shouldn't sound too clean: "We try to find the beauty in imperfection. It makes things sound more human". Weval draw their inspirations from no single genre of music but a cumulation of music that inspires them. The results present an astonishingly coherent vision - cuts like the dramatic THE BATTLE, bass growler I DON'T NEED IT or the trippy epic MADNESS share the same DNA of zestful nostalgia, a knack for immersive sound-sculpting and that certain kink in the groove. They also feed on deeply personal experiences and moods, as exemplified by the haunting electronic ballad YOU'RE MINE, the carefully layered, polaroid-tinted JUST IN CASE or the beautifully voiced closer YEARS TO BUILD. And sometimes, it's just an old, out-of-tune piano that stands in the hallway: "Whenever I'd pass by it, I couldn't resist playing it", says Merijn, "so Harm decided to start recording and it became an integral part of YOU MADE IT (PART I)". No doubt about it: this is WEVAL's most powerful and organic material yet - which means a lot, considering the amount of skill already on display in their small, but weighty portfolio. released June 10, 2016 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.3.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Opening track 'Out of The Game' has anthem like potential, combining hypnotizing vocals with a deep climax and a haunting vibe. The other tracks are no less impressive but gradually move more towards the dancefloor. Chopped-up minimalistic vocals, analogue sounds and ever evolving chord schemes are the key words that glue this EP together. released March 19, 2013 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.3.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

01. Weval - Gimme Some (5:09) 02. Weval - One (5:28) 03. Weval - Thinking Of (2:37) 04. Weval - Easier (5:28) Hearing WEVAL's music for the very first time, you might wonder from what geniuses' vault of vintage milestones these sounds have been pulled: the Dutch duo's incredibly catchy arrangements seem perfused by a rarefied pop magic that only a chosen few have truly mastered. Surely, this must be the work of a well- established veteran – or two youngsters so massively talented that it borders on the obscene. Weval's EASIER EP is here to demonstrate that it wasn't an accident, either - with four epic cuts that will haunt you long after you've left the floor. The 2013 debut „Half Age EP“ from Dutch newcomers Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers aka WEVAL struck a perfect balance between ingenuous simplicity and warm melodies: a rare moment of rapture and certainly one of those records that you wish you would've released yourself – which is probably why we smuggled an exclusive Weval track onto the tracklist of our much-acclaimed „Total 14“ compilation (KOMPAKT 310 CD 118). There, the duo's dreamy, yet dynamic variant of slow-burning, sweeping house held up more than well with the other high caliber names present on the record - leading us directly to the phenomenal outing at hand. With its glistening melodies and rousing beats, WEVAL's EASIER EP displays a staggering sense for danceable drama - spread over four expertly crafted tracks that will speak to your hearts and feet through radiant synths, ardent vocal snippets and sublime melodies. From pawing opener GIMME SOME to synth power ballad ONE, the introspective THINKING OF and title anthem EASIER, this is a rather beautifully flowing listening experience, not at all betraying the slightly yeasty circumstances of its creation: „we made this EP in two totally different moods“, the producers explain, „we were both totally in love with two different girls, but for both of us it didn't work out – and to be clear, this was not our choice.“ However, the defeat led to a phase of high productivity and research: „we felt terrible but we had a new EP we could work on and spend days and days finding a new sound.“ A couple of months and gear updates later, „the winter was gone and surprisingly it all worked out with those girls.“ Suddenly flush with happy feelings, Harm and Merijn finally hit the stride and quickly wrapped up production – resulting in an impactful wealth of emotions permeating all four tracks: “you can almost hear these two different moods we were in – it gets from cool, euphoric to dramatic and intense at the end.“ released November 24, 2014 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.3.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Weval - It'll Be Just Fine (4:47) 02. Weval - Grow Up (5:05) With the much-acclaimed EASIER EP (KOMPAKT 318), rising Dutch duo WEVAL presented an obscenely masterful label debut, dropping four intriguing tracks, but one fully-formed vision of their sound. The young producers' massive amount of talent couldn't help but manifest itself in incredibly catchy arrangements perfused with rarefied pop magic - a stunt they pull again on IT'LL BE JUST FINE / GROW UP, featuring two glistening cuts that marry serious beat science with heartfelt lyrics and soaring melodies. Being punchy and introspective at the same time is not necessarily an easy feat - you might expect that from seasoned veterans of prime time crowd control, not from two youngsters just starting to carve out their stylistic corner in the maze-like universe of electronic music. But here we are, still not believing our own ears, thanks to the bravura of Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte Albers aka WEVAL when it comes to meticulously crafted electronic pop with character. Just as their earlier material, WEVAL's new offering seems at least partly inspired by personal events, making for a surprisingly intimate ride - a title like IT'LL BE JUST FINE can be taken as an obvious hint. But this is only one half of the story, as powerful synth hooks and interwoven lyrics unfold over intricate rhythmic patterns. The flipside's GROW UP slows down the tempo and takes a slightly more direct approach to drumming, adorning its steady throb with immersive vocals and existentialist melodies - again hitting that sweet spot between melancholy and hopefulness that we've already come to love in Weval's output. released September 25, 2015 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.3.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Weval - Ways To Go (Margot Mix) (7:11) 02. Weval - Ways To Go (Red Axes Mix) (6:16) 03. Weval - You’re Mine (Kasper Bjørke Mix) (7:28) A massively successful 2016 saw Dutch duo WEVAL release their chart-topping debut album (KOMPAKT 352 CD 131) while touring the USA, Canada, Germany, Spain, UK and more, crossing frequencies with acclaimed artists such as Dixon, Michael Mayer or Danny Daze. Reflecting Weval's unique sound cosmos, its impressive versatility, genre-bending appeal and catchy melodic genius, we brought together Israeli masterminds RED AXES, Danish club Mozart KASPER BJØRKE and Italian tag team MARGOT to put their own distinct spin on album highlights WAYS TO GO and YOU'RE MINE - resulting in an enticing, dance-ready bundle of reworks that will scratch your clubbing itch while retaining that very special, almost intimate feeling of the original cuts. A perfect way for Weval to head into a new year that will see them grow even more, with upcoming live performances at Sonar Istanbul, Primavera Sound Festival and DGTL Amsterdam already lined up. released February 17, 2017 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Weval - Roll Together (Steve Moore Mix) (5:31) 05. Weval - Doesn't Do Anything (Silicon Mix) (3:04) 06. Weval - Are You Even Real (TRS-80 Mix) (4:24) Weval returned in early 2019 with their sophomore full length “The Weight” - breaking their pop-mellow, nostalgia-friendly facet further out in the open as they arrived "at this place again were everything felt spontaneous, new and exciting, like we had in the beginning". On limited edition, hand stamped vinyl, we present a collection of remixes from “The Weight”. Kompakt co-founder Michael Mayer opens “Same Little Thing” up to the dance floor with an everlasting lush house rhythm. Weval offer their own alternative version of “Same Little Thing” - a more stripped down affair with a solid breakbeat holding the track in sweet momentum. Lake Turner is an artist you will hear more about on Kompakt in 2020 - his interpretation of “The Weight” is a lush, kaleidoscopic crooner. Steve Moore (of Zombi fame) finally returns to Kompakt with a peak time ready techno-fied version of “Roll Together”. released October 25, 2019 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Для того, чтобы скачать .torrent Вам необходимо зарегистрироваться |
