Ewan died unexpectedly in December 2012 while undergoing heart surgery for treatment of his Marfan Syndrome. Born in Aberdeen in 1985, Ewan was both a celebrated musician and graphic designer. He first picked up a guitar aged 10 and by 14 had formed his first grunge band, Incendo. Moving to London in 2002 to study at Central Saint Martins, he joined experimental art rock group Lark and played with the band until 2011. While studying, he began working part-time as a graphic designer at Big Dada. After graduating he and design partner Oscar Bauer continued to work closely with the label, creating iconic artworks such as Wiley’s Playtime Is Over, Roots Manuva’s Slime & Reason and Bonobo’s Black Sands. His first release as Offshore came out on the Scottish label, Stuff in 2009 and Ewan was signed to Big Dada as an artist in 2010. He released two EPs on the label, Aneurysm and Pacer, and in 2012 produced his first album, Bake Haus. Ewan was working on the Offshore album when he died in December 2012. This release has been pieced together as close to Ewan’s intentions as we could manage. The album artwork is based on two of Ewan’s previous ideas, a design for a vinyl outer sleeve for a Big Dada tenth anniversary release and another project replicating landscapes through a simplified screen printing technique. Ewan was an exceptionally brilliant, witty and gentle person whose warmth, humour and grace touched everyone who knew him. He is fiercely loved and missed by his family and friends, who continue to be constantly inspired by him and his life. Tracklist:

Offshore - East Coast Capital Connect (4:10) Aberdonian-in-London Ewan Robertson aka Offshore returns with the third of his “EP” series, his second for Big Dada, and it’s another massive stride forward for this multi-talented producer. The EP begins with title-track “Pacer”, supple and dancefloor friendly but with enough of Offshore’s trademark melancholic melody to satisfy the most emotional of listeners. “Pepper” is a brutal bass number which pushes his sonic palette into new territory. “Pearls & Butlers” with guest Cienfuegos is a deconstructed ballad with a more ‘live’ feel than Robertson’s previous work. Skit-length “Mintlaw” once again sees Robertson pushing the sonics further than in the past, while “East Coast Capital Connect” offers a journey back to the frozen North of his last EP, the complexity and sharpness of the execution showing how quickly Offshore is still improving. Already a favourite amongst electronic music aficionados, “Pacer” shows how widely Robertson is setting his sights. With another EP to follow later in the year and an album in early 2012, Offshore is ready to come in from the cold. http://bigdada.com/release/offshore/pacer-ep ----------------------- foobar2000 1.3.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Offshore - Long Now (2:32) 14. Offshore - Downer 2 (2:04) If you had to define what it is about Offshore's music that makes him stand out a little from the the whole post-dubstep brouhaha, it's that he combines an ability to make big, vicious, system-shaking tracks that also sound human - eccentric and handmade and unique. Using the space given him by the full-length and informed by spending more time listening to Gang Of Four than the latest EDM/trap sensation, Ewan Robertson crashes together styles and instruments and ideas like an eccentric 19th century anarchist pastry chef given access to a Moulinex. The result is exhilarating, funny and cutting edge, yes, but also deeply affecting. There aren't that many electronic musicians who make music that sounds so personal, so much an emanation of their own personality. So while a track like "Downer" has the kind of wide-screen emotiveness that we've come to expect from this Aberdonian-in-London, "Venom" buzzes with rhythmic drive and off-centre malice, "Slip" is epic hip hop and "Bake Haus" itself a kind of deconstructed slow-jam. In between you can find post-rock, static and malfunctioning computers. Robertson plunges tracks, sounds, styles and moods together here into a continuous piece of music, where the individual tunes are less important than the way in which they're strung together. It makes for a short, visceral and, at times, beautiful suite of music which should establish Offshore as a key name in new electronic music and further build interest in his full full-length (this only being a palette-whetting mini-album) which is due next year. The buzz around Ewan Robertson aka Offshore has grown and grown since his debut release with Stuff/Numbers and his two EPs on Big Dada. Combining elements of grime, dubstep, hip hop, early electronic music and more into a unique, off-kilter sound, Offshore won't stay secret much longer. http://bigdada.com/release/offshore/bake-haus Exact Audio Copy V1.0 beta 3 from 29. Offshore - Off Peak (2:44) Two and a half years on from the sad and untimely passing of Ewan Robertson aka Offshore, his label Big Dada can announce the release of a last album from the Aberdonian musician and designer. The tracks for the new record, Offshore were all more or less completed before his death in 2012. His family, his partner and the label have pieced the album together as close to his original intentions as they could manage, to create a suite of music which in its openness, beauty, humour and joyfulness, both hints at what Ewan could have gone on to achieve, and celebrates what a unique and lovely human being and musician he was. In addition, artists including Ikonika, Amon Tobin, Blue Daisy, Slugabed, WEDNESDAY NITE, Lockah and Enchanté have all contributed remixes and expect videos and photographs from long time collaborators. All profits from the record are to go to the Marfan Trust at his families choosing, it was the condition that affected Ewan. The sadness felt by those who knew and loved Ewan is still very real, but this record is a chance to celebrate what a unique and talented individual he was. http://bigdada.com/release/offshore/offshore foobar2000 1.3.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
