The band evolved out of the industrial elements of a previous project called Enchantica which featured founding member Hypnos and a close friend. The band decided to go their own ways around about 2005 and Hypnos took the project to another level, taking over all writing/production duties and driving home his personal message and feelings through the medium of electronic/progressive music.
In 2005 the band released its debut E.P. - “The road to misery”. This is now largely out of print and copies were distributed exclusively, mostly to close friends. in 2006 a two disc full length album was completed but never formally released. Hypnos felt that the songs featured were not upto the standards he wanted to acheive and thus the tracks were archived. Following this a debut album was written entitled -”A Perfect System”. On the strength of this album Anowrexiya played its debut gig with the Cruxshadows. The gig went well but it was personally felt that the live performance and music involved could do with some improving. Thus 2007/08 was spent writing the follow up album “Audio Vomit”. This album gave the band a more well produced and more considered, less reactionary sound. During this time Hypnos also refined his production/writing skills. More gigs followed later that year, support slots with, amongst others, UK big hitters Modulate and Cybercide.

"I dont see Anowrexiya just as a musical project, I see it as a way of life and I want it to reflect the way I feel inside. I love making music and feel that music is something every person should have access to un-restricted by artificial boundaries of borders, countries and cities. I also believe strongly in the creative process as a form of therapy and that the product of that process should be available for all. We only have a limited time on this earth and the only real legacy we can leave is the things we create rather than the money we make from it. Any money made from Anowrexiya is put back into the process in order to bring you more music and creative output. I have no problem working to support this project and will always strive to make an acceptable version of albums and music available for all. If you see our music on a file sharing site then feel free to download it. Alternatively you can download it directly from us. I support file sharing of Anowrexiya’s music, and feel that when you pay for an album you should get something more that makes it worth paying for and that price should be proportionate to the product, rather than inflated to support a top heavy music industry.
