vital Information has been together in various incarnations since 1983. It is a labor of love and a wonderful creative playground and outlet for myself, Jeff, Frank and Tom.
Ray of Hope is the seventh Vital Information recording, but it is the first time we tried "group writing." Tom and I were very familiar with the process from our Santana and Journey experiences respectively. The band gets together and "jams" and a song idea is born and then is nurtured to completion. Jeff and Frank had never tried this concept before and were a bit skeptical at first but ended up loving it and being the major contributors!
Clouds, Celebrate Life, Lorenzo's Soul (dedicated to Frank's ailing Dad), Ray of Hope and Over and Out were all created this way. Rio-Lize was co-composed when I got Frank together with my friend Morris Pleasure. Morris is a talented keyboard, bass and trumpet player who works with Earth, Wind, and Fire, Najee, Paula Abdul, and a long list of others.
Sacred Treasure was created when Frank and I got together with one of my all time favorite drummers, writers, producers and "beautiful people' Narada Michael Walden.

All My Lave Always is a beautiful tune written by Frank. Jeff contributed two of his own compositions, the soulful Sixth Sense and the intense Fit to be Tied. A hold-over from our live shows is the Ногаce Silver jazz standard Peace, performed brilliantly by Jeff and accompanied telepathically by Tom on synths.
The Ray of Hope project was written and recorded during a period of time when all the band members were experiencing major life changes: divorces, family transitions, new relationships and a new marriage. We got to express some of the myriad of emotions that we were experiencing through this music.
