Lung Function (named after the bands optimistic record label) was housed at the top of an industrial unit in Bute Street, Luton. The band rehearsed and recorded there from its inception until its demise in 1989. They had an open door policy and allowed just about anyone to attend free of charge. Recent tapes from the sessions have come to light, highlights of which can be heard on the “Experiments” collection. released September 10, 2014 Electronics, vocals - Adrian Smith Drums, percussion - Derek E. Click Click - Keep Us Out Of The Way (7:04) The band appeared to be dead, but the cult lived on 17 years have passed since "Shadowblack", Click Click's most "recent" studio album. In the meantime, the English duo, comprised of the brothers Adrian K. and Derek Smith, completely disappeared from view. This did not keep fans from raising high collectors' prices for the largely out-of-print back catalogue of the band, however, because Click Click have established and still represent a uniquely stark sound characterised by an organic frailty and depth, albeit produced electronically for the most part. It was only in 2010 when the brothers suddenly returned with a back catalogue album, notably titled "Lung Function", via Dependent. Furthermore, the band played a couple of live shows which proved that they are indeed still capable of giving a striking stage impression. In 2011, they followed up with the EP "Skin & Bones" featuring "Rats In My Bed", a cult song which had been unavailable for a long time. Finally now, Click Click are going to release "Those Nervous Surgeons", their first album with new studio material in 17 years. The title used to be the name of the brothers' very first band project before they opted for the monicker Click Click. "We have come full circle", explains Derek Smith, and it is true: With respect to its instrumentation, the album sounds absolutely retro and harks back to the uniquely gloomy atmosphere as heard on old Click Click albums. Apart from solemn tracks like "Factory" or the intense "Keep Us Out Of The Way", there are faster tunes such as "Man In The Suit" and "What Do You Want" that remind to the very birth of the EBM-movement in the early and mid-eighties. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Both albums have been out of print for approximately 25 years and (unless you're prepared to pay £73 or £32 respectively for a CD) they've only been available as low quality mp3's via Amazon or iTunes. There have been various attempts at re-releasing these albums but as nobody seems to know who owns the copyright these attempts have failed almost immediately. Occasionally a tiny ray of light will shine on a possible solution to this dilemma but this is soon extinguished when disputes over money occur. These disputes have nothing to do with Click Click whatsoever. They are nothing but music industry interference which we in the band find both tiresome, detrimental and an insult to you, the fans. Therefore, at the risk of upsetting whoever believes they have exclusive rights over music which they had no hand in creating, we have decided to release our own high resolution version of Rorschach Testing, and just to be fair we've added selected tracks from Wet Skin & Curious Eye into the bargain. We hope you enjoy the music which will remain available here until the woodwork parts and those who believe we've broken a law or two come forward with a Cease & Desist notice. 01. Click Click - Factory (Codename: Cumulus) (7:10) 24Bit Original version on "Those Nervous Surgeons" (Dependent, 2014) Written by Adrian K. Smith and Derek E. Smith. released April 8, 2016 Remixed and mastered by Vrhovny, DJ (aka Ferenc Téglás) in July, 2014. foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Industrial/Electro side project of ebm/industrial act Click Click. Computer based studio. Sample heavy. Esoteric - maybe. Instrumental - mostly. Uncomplicated but sometimes overlong, possibly due to an effervescent environment. Heavily influenced by the noises of Karlheinz Stockhausen, Neu!, Can and Faust (which is probably why people think Paperhouse is a German entity.) A great deal of work created by Click Click never saw the light of day, most of it being too abstract or pseudo commercial for the bands purposes. That music lay untouched for years before its merits were reassessed for inclusion in the PaPERHOUsE project. Work began in 1989 after a confusing time in Switzerland took the life out of Click Click. The Department Of Polyrhythmic Experimentation (D.O.P.E.) began assembling the contents of the vaults in 1991 and the first recordings, a tape entitled Disintegration, came out in 1994 (Not Enough Memory.) Several more tapes were finished throughout the 90's before Click Click reformed in 97 to produce Shadowblack. Work resumed with PaPERHOUsE shortly thereafter and the CD On Acid Too was finally released in 2000. Sappho followed a year later and new work is on the way. Tracklist:

Originally a dark ambient project Skripglow has gravitated towards beat driven experiments. Tracklist:

Skripglow - Peace Of Mind (2:24) Day One is a collection of dark ambient electronics recorded at the Department Of Polyrhythmic Experimentation during late summer 2009. As an experiment in longevity, most of the music was improvised. It was felt that a complete lack of structure would help sustain the life of the music and retain its dynamics over time. With that in mind percussion and rhythms are kept to a minimum while treated organic sounds are emphasised throughout the album. Skripglow - Betamax (9:48) Biblefire is another collection of dark ambient electronics recorded at the Department Of Polyrhythmic Experimentation, but this time the ambience has teeth...and a heartbeat. Percussive elements appear from the start and continue throughout the album; only "Somewhere Anywhere Nowhere" retains the dark ambient template from Day One. "As with all of Smith's solo work Biblefire began life as a collection of offcuts from sessions with Click Click, but in this case the offcuts were bent out of shape and moulded into something very new." released January 1, 2011 Engineer - Sound Forge/Izotope/Smith Production - Adrian Smith Recorded at - Dope 2011 Sleeveart - AK Copperson ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Although elements of chill, relaxation and audio therapy remain, Alchemy is anything but a standard piece of coffee table ambience. “Dangerously close to chill-out but dark enough to worry the neighbours”, is as clear a description as there’s ever likely to be. “Too often chill-out music relies on formula to achieve a pleasing result. It’s become stale and just a little corporate. I like the idea of throwing a pneumatic drill halfway into an eight minute piece of tranquil ambience - BAM! - palpitations, cold sweats and, slowly so they don’t notice, back to tranquility. I don’t see why chill-out can’t have a bit of an edge and still be relaxing.” - Adrian Smith October 2011. released April 25, 2015 Produced by Adrian Smith foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Irrenhaus are Ferenc Teglas and Adrian Smith, two people who (apart from an exceptionally brief encounter in Berlin) have never actually met. Their electronic relationship began during the early stages of the Internet when Ferenc remastered "Hands Fall Backwards" for Click Click, and from that point on the relationship developed into an ongoing collaboration. For many years they traded ideas about working together on original material but due to their individual commitments the idea remained on hold. In 2013 Ferenc suggested setting up a Bandcamp page to showcase the work Adrian had done outside of Click Click, and as the material accumulated and the page expanded, the idea of a collaboration began to resurface. During the summer of 2015 the first of a series of files were exchanged. They were basically templates which were mutually dissected, reassembled and stitched together over a very short period of time. After all of the talk they finally had something solid to work on. The music here represents the urgency of the original idea. It's not perfect but it's a statement of intent. The music they intend to work on in the future will evolve and expand. It will mutate and lean closer to left field. It will challenge and terrify. Tracklist:

Smith - There's Nobody Here (13:44) 24Bit With the exception of "Laughter In Moscow" and "The Sun and the Moon" the music in this collection consists of samples taken from some of the albums available on this site. Some of the samples are unadulterated and some have been sliced and diced to fit their new home. The entire album took four weeks to compose and assemble and will probably be the final installment of my "commercial" collection. Most of the soundbites come from "Carnival of Souls" (1962 - directed by Herk Harvey) and "The Atomic Cafe" (1982 - directed by Jayne Loader, Kevin Rafferty and Pierce Rafferty), two movies that hold a special place in my heart. Gene Moore's score for "Carnival of Souls" (elements of which are included here and there) was one of the reasons I got into music in the first place (along with seeing King Crimson at Hyde Park in 1969) and it's fitting that I end my "career" with that score in mind. I'm getting on a bit now and (apart from continuing to work with Ferenc on the Irrenhaus project) I only have one major ambition left, and that is to compose (in the old fashioned sense) a major work in the avant garde/musique concrete genre. Wish me luck. Adrian K Smith - March 2016 released March 20, 2016 Instrumentation: Sampler, Absynth, FM8, Guitar, SW Radio, Sax, Oboe, Horn Produced and directed by AKS Mastered by Fiat Pompeius foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 This Box will give a nice insight into the world of the Adrian and Derek Smith's musical legacy during their very productive stage and the early years of their Lung Function-Label from 1982 to 1986 with the Solo- (Adrian Smith) and Side Projects (Half Nervous/Those Nervous Surgeons, EFF) to the EBM-Legend Click Click
Adrian Smith, the main-figure behind the EMB/Dark-Wave-Legend Click Click started to experiment with sounds as early as 1974. In 1976 Adrian managed to get his hands on a decent tape machine and he was wise enough to record everything he ever did onto cassette; after all, he was building a legacy. He and his brother Derek never got the tools they really wanted but learned to make do with whatever they could lay their hands on. They had already decided what musical direction they would to follow, all they needed was the right equipment. During the Years 1977-1980 and before starting their own Lung Function Label they both had the post-punk project Those Nervous Surgeons (Adrian Smith on guitar/synth/vocals, Tim Wilson on bass, Derek Smith on drums, Mark Turney on guitar) and Half Nervous (Adrian Smith on synth/vocals, Derek Smith on drums/designs/direction) In 1980 Adrian takes possession of Tim Wilson’s Wasp synth and Akai reel-to-reel and retires to the smallest room in the house he shares with his wife. During this period he continues to work alone until the music is assessed for possibilities and the brothers decide to work together again. The 1980 - 1981 period is particularly productive and gives birth to the skeletons of songs which will later be shaped into the music of Click Click; but, before this happens, Adrian begins to release music on cassette under the names Another View on his own Abstractions-Label and later on already as EFF (eject or fast forward). In 1981 they introduced and change their name to Click Click, turn their backs on electronics and add funky experimental guitarist Rick Camp to the band. They record the “Silver Single” and play wherever they can. Their sound begins to mutate into post punk/jagged rock and further recordings are made, but there are clouds on the horizon. After much shouting the band breaks up and the guitars are put into storage and the name was even changed back to Half Nervous. In 1982 and during the stage of constant changes (in band-name, band-members and music-styles) Adrian and Derek begin to gig as an electronic duo and Friends donated equipment and fx pedals and Derek acquires a set of electronic drums. They spend two weeks developing and recording “Behind Dark Glasses” at their newly established Lung Function HQ. Results are recorded onto cassette. It is a brash, Residents influenced collection of dark industrial electronics. At same time Adrian Smith releases “If Look Could Kill” (a cassette containing various elongated versions of an earlier tune called…Look) and in 1983 “Another Bag Of Legs For Ya” is recorded onto a borrowed Portastudio but is never officially released. Half Nervous (augmented now by Jenny Prestana on viola) change their name back to Click Click record a version of The Sack and revisit more of Adrian’s solo work (I Don’t Wanna Wear a Bag, Boss Say Work) as well as versions of Natural Actions and The Last Chance from “Behind Dark Glasses.” During 1984 and 1986 Click Click (with Jon Morris replacing Jenny’s viola with another Wasp synth) are now in full flow, Adrian’s solo material continues to materialize especially under the moniker EFF. Click Click adapt several more of these works into recognisable songs (I Rage I Melt, Skripglow, Man In A Suit, Mercy and Rotor Babe). Since 1986 an ever increasing collection of cassettes and hours of recorded music sit unheard in the vaults of Lung Function. At some point an 808 drum machine replaces the Eko Rhythm Master and more material is added to the collection. Projects are developed and labelled as works by PaPERHOUsE and The Toy Shop. These too are plundered by Click Click or reworked on better equipment and released as music recorded by Skripglow. And so it goes on. Multiple styles. Multiple personalities. Endless music.
