Ok... Hi again folks. Here we have the Jazz/Audiophile classic by Flim & The BB's 'Big Notes' which was released by DMP way back in 1985. This is the original first pressing manufactured in Japan for sale in the US and Europe. The original Japanese version was slightly different, of course, as it was made for the Japanese market. If anyone is looking at this listing and does not know this group or this release, here is a few reviews:

5.0 out of 5 stars You can't go wrong with Flim... by Doc Sarvis on June 30, 2000
Flim and the BBs have always been viewed as "audoiophile" recordings, noted more for their dynamic range and digital purity than for musical content. While there is a bit of truth to this (this isn't exactly ground-breaking from a style perspective) I still think it's a bit of a bum rap. Yes, this is high-quality recording, guaranteed to show off the finest stereo system to its fullest... even fifteen years after it was recorded, it's still state-of-the-art. But that's not all. This is super-enjoyable, if predictable, new-age light jazz. I've always felt that Flim had a certain quality of optimism in its music that makes its appeal universal... there's an exuberance that's hard to pin down, but imediately apparent, that I've seldom heard anywhere else, regardless of the recording technology in use. Listen to it for its own sake! 5.0 out of 5 stars Born To Love You by John P Bernat on May 19, 2006
This, as one of the most original of the "firsts" produced by this combo, is an extraordinarily clean recording, as others have said here. But that's only a small part of what this is all about... This group tried to maximize the range of a new recording medium with the compositions they created and performed. And perhaps the greatest of all examples of this is the track, "Born To Love You." Digital recording, as a development beyond analog technology, meant extraordinary dynamic range. "Born To Love You" is one of the most startling recordings I've ever heard. It begins with a very quiet piano solo by Billy Barber, and gradually adds non-electronic instrumentation, most hauntingly a flute solo. This gradually builds to an incredible climax - and that word fits better than any other I can think of. Where are they now? Nobody in the 1990s made more innovative storytelling music like these guys did... 5.0 out of 5 stars The best sounding CD ever recorded. by Don Edvalson on May 27, 2004
I have had this CD for nearly 10 years, and I keep looking for any better sounding CD. So far I have found nothing that can come close to this recording in terms of clean, distortion free sound. The snare drum is so crisp and sharp it sound like you are there. The saxaphone tracks and synth stuff is clean and very transparent. The dynamic range in "Born To Love You" will blow your speakers off the wall if you are not careful. This is the album I use to test speakers with. I have listened to it on my Klipsch KLH-30s, my Sony MDR-80II headphones and on Sennheiser HD650 headphones. It sounds great on all of them, especially on the biamped Klipschs. Besides the incredible clarity, the music is a lot of fun to listen to. 5.0 out of 5 stars Big Notes by Gregory Adams on April 2, 2014
My first indoctrination to the Flim & The BBs sound. I would not be what most consider a jazz fan overall, but being a musician, I have always appreciated really good musicianship and music in general. Flim (Jimmy Johnson) is one of the most talented and melodic bass players I have ever heard. The rest of the guys are not slouches either and I love their inventiveness with the tunes, and how they slip in some fantastic bits all the way through the album. The last track "Born To Love You", STILL rattles the woofers every time I play it. I know I don't have a true audiophile system, but I would challenge anyone with a nice system to give this one a play and see what I am talking about. Oh yeah, and Bill Berg being (or at least was at the time) a lead animator for some company called Disney, may give him a bit more street cred, but he is one really great drummer. 5.0 out of 5 stars Musical and sonic excellence together by andrew horan on April 17, 2015
'Big Notes'? A blast! So, stereophonically, want to try "old school"? Two channel stereo? An old Marantz (that still looks new), a couple of Wharfedales and a good source? Mozart? Roland Kirk? Kraftwerk? Ahh, Flim and the BB's. The first group to record, master, and deliver jazz digitally received the coveted "Jazz CD of The Year" for Big Notes sometime back there in '85. The BB's, known for what they could do with an alembic bass guitar, percussion, piano, keyboard, synthesizer, and woodwinds are a joy here. Have a listen and marvel.
Billy Barber, mostly keyboards
Bill Berg, mostly drums
Flim Johnson, mostly basses
Dick Oatts, mostly saxophones
