01. Alchemy - In This Age (3:28) 02. Alchemy - Rebel! Revolt! Recruit! (2:33) 03. Alchemy - Suburbanite Insurrect (5:56) 04. Alchemy - The Modern Rebellion (3:22) 05. Alchemy - We the People (3:38) 06. Alchemy - Tired (4:17) 07. Alchemy - The Battle is Lost (8:49) 08. Alchemy - For All the Wrong Reasons (4:50) This was the first album I did with real guitars, vocals and drums. Up until now, I had been doing mostly instrumental songs with sample guitars, but now I took the big leap into full-fledged song-writing -- and also, very nervously indeed, took lead vocals on all the tracks, despite the fact I that I can't hold a note to save my life. I was really chuffed when the drummer of my favorite Danish hardcore-band, The Psyke Project, agreed to play drums on "The Modern Rebellion". I remember that cost me my student job at the library, because we had a few beers after the session, it was a very hot summer day and, consequently, I almost passed out while stacking books, but in retrospect, it was totally worth it. Most of the drums, however, were programmed -- which I'll confess I hated doing, because drums really are my primary instrument. Only "The Modern Rebellion," "We the People" and "The Battle is Lost" feature real drums. Owing to my complete lack of experience, the drums were miked up with three vocal-mic's, so most of the live drums are also overdubbed with programmed drums. This was also the first time I'd ever played guitar, let alone tried tuning one -- which I tried to compensate for by overdubbing tons of guitar tracks on top of each other. Also, none of the tracks have live bass: that wouldn't come until "Practically Sentient", two years later. Anyway, the album itself is a concept album of sorts. At the time, riots were breaking out in Denmark concerning the closing and eventual demolition of a youth-house in Copenhagen. A radical right-wing Christian organisation had purchased the house behind the backs of the youths who used it, and, caught in endless bureaucratic red tape and lies, the youths saw no other recourse than to set the streets of Copenhagen on fire and throw bricks at police officers. I was watching all of this while having constant flashbacks to the now-romanticized student riots of the sixties, and decided to write an album correlating these two time periods of civil, youthful dissent. The album is mainly written from the point of view of a young and naïve little shit who is 'recruited' by cynical orators to 'fight the power', and ends up on the flaming barricades in the middle of a street riot, wondering how the hell he got there in the first place. released June 1, 2007 Produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Troels Pleimert. All guitars, keyboards, live drums, drum programming and vocals by Troels Pleimert, except: "Surburbanite Insurrect" - lead vocals by David Warmind "The Modern Rebellion" - live drums by Rasmus Sejersen "Tired" - ambience and guitar solo by Thomas Arnt Jensen Cover design and layout by Troels Pleimert. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Alchemy - Carl Calls the Police (Dialog) (1:37) 02. Alchemy - Death By Proxy (3:20) 03. Alchemy - Newscast I (Dialog) (0:44) 04. Alchemy - 5.15 am (3:40) 05. Alchemy - The Crime Scene (Dialog) (1:10) 06. Alchemy - The Crusader (2:07) 07. Alchemy - Newscast II (Dialog) (0:39) 08. Alchemy - Human Preservation (2:51) 09. Alchemy - Communique (Dialog) (0:55) 10. Alchemy - A Safehouse for Carla (Dialog) (0:26) 11. Alchemy - Dealt An Unwinnable Hand (4:58) This is a quite silly science-fiction concept album I wrote mainly as a present for a friend of mine. We both have a great love for concept albums, such as Genesis' "The Lamb," Gary Numan's "Replicas" and Pink Floyd's "The Wall," so I thought it appropriate to do an all-out 70's style concept album, complete with radio-theater-esque dialog-bits in between the actual songs. It's a science-fiction story set in the future, where religious fundamentalist groups are opposing the government's plans to electronically tag every citizen in the world through what they call the Global Digitalization Initiative. So, in essense, we have two reprehensible antagonists at war with each other, and us, the citizens, caught in the middle - unable to choose sides, because both are equally defeating. The Global Digitalization Initiative is being spearheaded by a small group of programmers, working over the distances of the internet (which, in the future, is accessed through terminals called Access Points, or just "The Access"). Three of them are already dead as we open the story, despite being under heavy guard, and the police are still at square one. It is, of course, obviously the religious fundamentalist group, who call themselves the Human Preservation Society, who are responsible for the deaths of the Initiative programmers. And they make this perfectly clear to the authorities - but continue to elude them, by using our society's advanced technology against it. The story opens at 5.15 am in the morning, when rogue programmer, Carl McIntyre, phones the police with a tip about having potentially seen one of the assassins, hacking into a public Access Point behind a seedy dive called the Server Café (yes, I know, very cheesy). Just as he is about to give a description of the assassin, an unknown force pins him to his seat. Unable to move, a disembodied voice admonishes him - and then, Carl's head spontaneously explodes. And so begins our silly little tale. Later, we'll meet Detective Clements, who is the lead investigator of Carl's murder, and the last surviving programmer of the Initiative, Carla Regina Arigold, who is put into protective custody. (Of course, Carla doesn't actually SPEAK, since I can't impersonate a female voice at all convincingly.) The ending is intentionally ambiguous: the final track of the album presents you with two different endings. In one, the Global Digitalization Initiative is completed, and every man, woman and child on the face of the Earth is digitally tagged and under constant surveillance by the government. In the other, the Human Preservation Society succeeds in stopping the Initiative, then goes into politics and tries to overthrow the world's government on a platform of rejecting all technological advancements; basically sending everyone back to the stone age. Both horrible outcomes; no happy endings; just the way we like it. Again, don't take the whole thing too seriously. It was recorded in about a week, only a month after Complacency Kills. Despite having 11 tracks, the album is quite short, since most of the tracks are brief dialogue scenes. This version of the album features a freshly remixed version of the final track, "Dealt an Unwinnable Hand." released July 1, 2007 Music, lyrics, script, production, engineering, mixing and mastering by Troels Pleimert (whew). Alchemy - The Talent Show (Asger Mygind remix) (5:59) To celebrate the release of "Practically Sentient," I invited a handful of my musically-inclined friends to remix the album's most commercial sounding track, the sarcastic "The Talent Show." This promotional single was handed out to everyone who attended the "Practically Sentient" release party. But because I think the guys did such a great job tearing my song apart and stitching the bloody stumps back together, I felt everyone should be able to hear them. Some of them bear little to no resemblance to the original at all! 1. The Talent Show (Album version) The original version from the album. Features Bjørn Rørbæk Pedersen on vocals and additional drum programming. 2. The Talent Show (Fuad von Kampf Mekanik edit) Bjørn Rørbæk's own radio-friendly edit of the track. 3. The Talent Show (Charlie C. Fair remix) Claustrophobic, lo-fi industrial-metal remix with lots of pipe-clanging. 4. The Talent Show (Jesper Frost remix) An industrial-dance remix for the sort of clubs where everyone's dressed in black. 5. The Talent Show (Grafikfejl remix) A deep-bass dance remix for the late night pill-poppers. 6. The Talent Show (Lydstat remix) A seriously spaced-out, almost ambient remix. 7. The Talent Show (Asger Mygind remix) A hard-hitting behemoth of a remix. Sounds almost nothing like the original, but is loud enough to knock your teeth out. A huge heaping dose of thanks to the remixers for their work! And thanks for helping me out and making me look good. released August 8, 2009 Music and lyrics by Troels Pleimert. It is the first proper full length album I've recorded with 12 tracks of punk-ish drums, metal-ish guitars, industrial-ish programming, 80's-style keyboards, Commodore 64-ish melodies and hardcore-style vocals. released August 8, 2009 Produced and engineered by Troels Pleimert. Alchemy - Merry Friggin' Christmas (5:25) For Christmas 2009, I did four tracks for a little EP which was released over the course of December. For this little package, I didn't use any guest musicians or vocalists — it's all me, which means a lot of screaming and a lot of meaty guitars. But there's also a healthy dose of breakbeats, electronic widdling, and even some clean vocals. And in the Christmas spirit (especially since the songs on the EP are so mean-spirited), it's all for free. Alchemy - Closing Theme (1:33) This is an original soundtrack for an adventure game I did called "A Life Worth Losing". It's an acutely self-aware fan-fiction thing starring the faces of my favorite on-line review celebrities, such as: * The Spoony One (Noah Antwiler) * The Angry Video Game Nerd (James Rolfe) * The Nostalgia Critic (Doug Walker) * LordKat (Jason Pullara) * JewWario (Justin Carmichael) - RIP, man ... plus and a few other familiar faces (such as a very special surprise at the end). The tracks are sequenced in the order they appear in the game. Fair warning, this is not a rock album. It's meant to meander along in the background while you traipse around the game world, solving puzzles and being insulted by the characters. To be perfectly honest, I think game soundtracks today blow. They try too hard to sound like movie scores, and in their efforts to be as non-intrusive as possible, they end up sounding like generic, cheap, anonymous droning. Which is odd, considering they have full orchestras at their disposal. My inspiration comes from the classic adventure game scores of the 90's, where the music didn't get in the way, but it wasn't taboo to have a bit of melody to hum along to. It's probably no surprise that my greatest inspiration comes from the works of Mark Seibert and Ken Allen, who did one of the best adventure game scores in the history of gaming, "Space Quest IV". I hope I didn't just dig myself a massive hole by making that comparison. Of course, this stuff is nothing compared to what these guys were doing with General MIDI back in the ol' days. But I hope you enjoy it nonetheless. released January 19, 2011 All tracks written and performed by Troels Pleimert. Recorded Dec 21. - 22. (2010), Jan 15. and 18. (2011). That's four days for over an hour of music. I hope it doesn't show too much. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

This is my first real music album in six years, and I hope it shows some improvement. It probably doesn't, but that's not my place to say. In the early winter months of January and February, I wrote a couple of tunes ("Virginity", "Soft", "Silent Snow" and "Sunken"), then went almost the entire year until October before writing the rest of the album during a week-long vacation. What you're (hopefully) listening to is what amounts of a week's burst of inspiration, coupled with a few notes and bars of a different inspirational burst some eight months prior. And now it's here. Please enjoy. It's free, as always! released October 29, 2015 All tracks written, produced, mixed, mastered and performed by Alchemy. Additional mixing on "Virginity", "Soft", "Monolith", "Silent Snow" and "Something To Hold On To" by Dion Førslev Pedersen. This record was made entirely using free VSTs from www.vst4free.com and free loops from www.looperman.com. My thanks and sincere apologies to the people whose hard work I have misused for my own devious ends. I did, however, program drums, synths, and play guitar myself. So I did *some* work on my own. Alchemy - My Happy Place (10:22) I wanted to make an album that sounded like a scrunched up, screaming face. And this is it. Pretty close, if I do say so myself. I found the harshest guitar sound I could make out of free VST's, then mastered the sound into an absolutely violent brick wall. The goal was to leave you utterly drained (and hopefully feeling a bit cathartic) by the end of the album. I hope I succeeded. During the writing of this album, I gave up drinking. It actually worked out so that the first half (track 1-5) was written and recorded whilst drunk; the other half (track 6-10) was written and recorded whilst sober. (All the lyrics were, as far as I remember, written drunk, though.) Ben Chandler (resident artist at Wadjet Eye Games) painted the album cover because he's a very nice bloke and has questionable tastes in music (by his own admission).
