Beginning off as a competition held between February 18th, 2016 and March 18th, 2016, over forty different musicians submitted tracks to be featured on the industrial/EBM/dark-electro gathering. Our staff handpicked and voted for twenty of their favorite submitted tracks to be included on the compilation for purpose of quality over quantity. The tracks on the album are presented with their favorite tracks first and continuing downward. However, there is no one bad track on the album'; from the start with Microwaved's cover of "Obsession" all the way down to Lights Out, God Help Me's dancefloor killer "All Will Drown", BRUTAL RESONANCE: PHASE ONE is an infectious assortment of music to listen to in the dark. Brutal Resonance would also like to extend their hand and thank EVERYONE for supporting the webzine throughout the years and for making this compilation a reality. Rather than dish out an annual compilation we thought it would be best to do a free monthly collection of industrial and dark electronic music from across the globe to further support the underground scene. It is with that in mind that we have created our very first free monthly compilation simply titled JUNE 2017. We gathered the talent of many heavy hitters throughout the scene such as NØIR founded by Athan Maroulis (Black Tape For A Blue Girl), the recent French electro phenomenon that is Horskh, and even the aggrotech/metal crossover known as Subliminal Code. Mixed in are a ton of underground artists just waiting to be discovered. Cell Zero's American industrial rock formula is to die for; the aggrotech mash-up between Bleeding Corp and Alien:Nation is a stompy banger, and we even mixed in the darker side of synthwave with DreamReaper closing out the album. The compilation starts off with Sadgirl Electronica producer Molly.Noise's glitchy and rhythmic noise riddled 'Pain Speaks'. Luxury Mollusc's harsh, atmospheric scrap abuse brazens the compilation with 'IV'. The angry fucking noises about being sad from grabyourface's 'drinkbleach' continues this downward spiral into oblivion. Cursed Monk Records' came in to haunt our compilation with four different artists, starting with Beneath the Sod's doom laden noisy industrial track 'The Great Dying'. Blackened doom metal project Crypticum takes over the spotlight bringing us a little outside the industrial spectrum with 'An Intonation In Sour Tones. Gourd offers a twisted, mind fuck of a track with 'Stir of Dread', while dark ambient/drone artist Ruairi O'Baoighill occult and pagan influences stir the dark side with 'Offering'. Dark ambient and harsh noise producer Harsh Discipline pulverizes with 'U-BK II (Tribute to Parazite)'. They Burn Witches Here, a project featuring members of the aforementioned Harsh Discipline and Outis of Horrenda, gives us another shot with 'How Can I Go On'. The final song on the compilation comes from black metal and electronic producer These Teeth Devour Flesh with 'Vanity Speaks Murder'.
