Album’s name “Void” means a boundless space for ideas and experiments. It was already planned to record this album by the time of releasing Shelter, where Noise Beats also participated. As soon as this album was presented they decided to make a split album, which would include selected works from Shelter and new tracks, too. In fact Void is Shelter’s direct extension. That is why the authors created the entering track Love Kills Pt. II and kept the same mood in the first part of this album. The new album contains a lot of experiments, complicated structures and unusual sound. “We followed our favorite conception and recorded as much live instruments as we were able to: bass, guitar, acoustic, drums, piano and even violin in the most emotional track of the album Remember. Our most ambitious experiment is Great Hoax. It’s smooth, but at the same time very rhythmic, so we even put it through a test at the morning jogging! The album endures 20 minutes and something. Layer by layer, the picture is a bit washed out; there is no exact sequence just like in our “equally unique” lives where happen “eventful grey periods”. This music was spawned by greyness to add some colors. Here and there you can find a brushstroke of despair, hate or hope, and then suddenly this all fades away to slowly calmness. Downtempo with a dash of dirt, noises, various samples and scratches which go together with hip-hop sound and notes of trip-hop and lounge. Catch The Crackle is an experimental project and so it is hard to say how the next release is going to sound. Album has got a lot of samples: vinyl noises, vocals, Liverpool fans signing and other artefacts. “People are satisfied with everything, and this is not good for something new”, says Sasha. He decided to blow dust off old instruments and use his own head and hands oftener than “magic” buttons which do all work instead of you. Roomy Universe is an album at the cusp. PC was still necessary to compose it but next releases will be recorded on sequencer from 90s Yamaha QY700 which controls hard synths, drum machines and groove boxes. He started writing it back in 2013 when living in a rehearsal studio at the out-of-service factory. As a dedicated ‘analog’ musician, antrru arranged his album using only hardware from his live setup: synthesizers Nord Lead 2 Rack and DSI Mopho accompanied by vocals and electric guitar. When questioned if it was easy or hard to record the album he says: “Neither one thing nor the other. All I can say now, having it finished, is that I feel as if I graduated from the university. I feel ease.” According to him the best songs are always written straight off, during several hours. The founders of the band, Sergei Kashkovsky and Dmitry Tochilin, started their musical carriers with indie rock but eventually decided to move to more electronic sound. Sergei is band’s vocalist and song-writer while Dmitry is responsible for the whole musical stuff. Not without irony guys admit that primarily they intended to write trap music. But when writing the first track they understood it’s too boring for them. After several experiments they found out that the most original and suitable way to beautify their music is to use samples and echoes of a long forgotten cultural epoch — jazz of the early and middle 20th century.
