Ведущий гитарист и один из основателей The Mars Volta. Бывший гитарист пост-хардкор группы At the Drive-In. Владелец звукозаписывающей компании Rodriguez-Lopez productions. A Manual Dexterity: Soundtrack Volume One, the solo debut from The Mars Volta guitarist Omar Rodríguez-López, was recorded in 2001 after the breakup of former band At the Drive-In and released in 2004. A Manual Dexterity is the first of a two part soundtrack set to go along to a film directed by Rodriguez-Lopez. Omar's father was also featured on the album doing the vocal tracks on Deus Ex Machina.
The release of Soundtrack Volume Two, which was originally planned for Spring of 2005, and the film were both delayed indefinitely due to legal problems. Conflicts over ownership of certain footage and Rodríguez-López's reluctance to revisit the project, which featured his late friend Jeremy Michael Ward in the lead role, were both cited as reasons for the delay. However, Rodríguez-López stated that he does intend to release both Volume Two and the film at some point in the future. Tracklist: 01. Omar A. Rodriguez-Lopez - Around Knuckle White Tile (7:16) 02. Most of the overdubs and mixing were done on the road in September 2005. Gold Standard Laboratories began offering a limited edition vinyl picture disc of this release for mail order in December 2006.
The Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Quintet, which formed in unison with the release of this record, toured briefly in the Netherlands in the fall of 2005 in support of this new release. Joining then on stage for one performance was Damo Suzuki, for the song "Please Heat This Eventually" which would resurface on the next two releases from the group. The centerpiece of the album, Jacob van Lennepkade (which was later reworked on The Apocalypse Inside of an Orange) is named after the street on which Omar lived during its recording. Tracklist: 01. It was written and recorded in 2005 in California and Amsterdam, and was released May 29, 2007 by Gold Standard Labs on both vinyl and CD. A limited edition, brown marble vinyl was also available. 750 were made to fulfill pre-orders through April 30.
It is one of six albums written and recorded by Omar Rodríguez-López whilst living in Amsterdam in November 2005. Se Dice Bisonte, No Búfalo was conceived simultaneously to The Mars Volta's Amputechture and Omar’s soundtrack to the Jorge Hernández Aldana film, El Búfalo de la Noche, which is where the title for the album originates. In the album's liner notes, Omar expressed that this record is a response and expression of his feelings of the film, the soundtrack of which will feature The Mars Volta contributions. The album artwork is provided by longtime collaborator Damon Locks of The Eternals. Se Dice Bisonte, No Búfalo consists of 3 vocal tracks and 7 instrumentals, and also includes the original studio version of the song Please Heat This Eventually (without the vocals of Damo Suzuki). Omar performed the majority of the compositions solo, although the album also includes performances by The Mars Volta members Cedric Bixler-Zavala, Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez, Juan Alderete and Adrián Terrazas-González. It also features cameos by Money Mark, John Frusciante, and former Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore who appears on the final track, which was recorded while he was still a part of the group. "Rapid Fire Tollbooth" eventually became a part of The Mars Volta's live set, and evolved into the song "Goliath" which appears on their studio album The Bedlam in Goliath. Tracklist: 01. The album was released in Japan on December 15, 2007 with a following U.S. release later on February 5, 2008, merely a week after The Mars Volta's The Bedlam in Goliath. The album art was illustrated by graffiti artist GREY, a childhood friend of Rodriguez-Lopez's. According to the label, the original title given to them by Omar was "Calibration Is Pushing Luck and Key Too Far" but the "Is Pushing Luck and Key Too Far" part of the title appeared nowhere on the physical release.

It is one of four solo albums completed in 2001 by Omar Rodríguez-López during the interim period following the demise of At the Drive-In and the formation of The Mars Volta. Absence was tracked at Doug Messenger's North Hollywood studio only a few weeks after Rodriguez-Lopez recorded A Manual Dexterity Soundtrack, Vol. 1 there, and is comparable to that project in both sound and atmosphere. The album features tracks that were "originally intended for use by The Mars Volta." No personnel credits are listed in the insert for either the LP or CD, though it features a photograph of Jeremy Michael Ward never seen prior to this release.
The song "Hands Tied to the Roots of a Hemorrhage" is the foundation of what would become "Eriatarka" on The Mars Volta's first full-length, De-loused in the Comatorium. Also, the song "Teflon" from TMV's 2009 album Octahedron includes parts worked from the song "A Story Teeth Rotted For". Tracklist: 01. Rodríguez-López explained that the album is "loosely based on the concept of exploitative industrialists and, well, their old money." Stones Throw Records released the vinyl version of the album on February 6, 2009.
Rodriguez-Lopez has hinted that this record was a potential follow up to the 2006 The Mars Volta studio album Amputechture until he changed his musical direction. Many songs share similarities with previous Mars Volta live jams. Review aggregate site Metacritic calculates a score of 70/100 for the album, but erroneously referred to it as "The debut album for the Mars Volta guitarist". In the song "I Like Rockefellers' First Two Albums, But After That...", there is a dialog from the movie El Topo, from Chilean director Alejandro Jodorowsky. Tracklist: 01. August 2011 REM DATE 2009 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.3.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Xenophanes is the twelfth studio album by Omar Rodríguez-López as a solo artist. The same members of Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group who toured Europe in March 2009 (and released Los Sueños de un Hígado around the same time) are featured on this record, created a few months beforehand. On September 28, 2009 the recording was released digitally via the Rodriguez-Lopez productions website as well as physically in Europe on both CD and yellow vinyl. The recording was released physically in the U.S. on November 10, 2009 on both CD and pink vinyl. A music video directed by Omar for "Asco Que Conmueve los Puntos Erógenos" was released on YouTube on November 30, 2009.
According to drummer Thomas Pridgen, while he was recording for the album he was under the impression Xenophanes would be a Mars Volta album. In the liner notes, Omar wrote: "This album is dedicated to and exists in celebration of Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Ximena Sariñana Rivera who have always believed in me and pushed me to be my true self. Thank you." A conceptual journey through life, death, and rebirth, the album tells the story of a selfish and judgmental female caseworker who falls in love with a male client, only for him to die soon thereafter. Over the course of eleven subsequent lifetimes, the woman experiences life from every conceivable vantage point as her soul evolves, thereby allowing the maturity and eventual letting-go of her ego which in turn enables the realization that the man was, and always has been, her father spirit. Suggesting the fractal and holographic nature of both consciousness and physical reality, the concepts embraced on Xenophanes will appear at least vaguely familiar to anyone with experience in the psychedelic and/or shamanic realms, concepts which Xenophanes himself was likely the first to express within the confines of Western philosophy. It was released on October 18, 2010 on CD and vinyl by Rodriguez Lopez Productions on Koncurrent in Europe, then November 18 through the US hello merch store. It is the first collaboration between Omar and vocalist Lisa Papineau, who had previously worked with The Mars Volta bandmate Juan Alderete in their band Big Sir. This record features the song "Victimas del Cielo" in studio form, having first been released on the live album Los Sueños de un Hígado.
The credits on the inside sleeve of both CD and LP releases incorrectly list vocals by Lisa featured on the final track instead of the penultimate, as "Carne de Perro" is instrumental. Cizaña was recorded in Hamburg, Germany by Omar and Lars Stalfors, with all artwork done by Sonny Kay. Tracklist: 01. Omar Rodríguez-López - Soledad Y Silencio (4:51) 02. On July 7th, 2016, it was announced that Sworn Virgins would be the first of 12 records Ipecac would be releasing throughout the remainder of 2016. Each record will be digitally released on a bi-weekly basis, with a limited CD pressing as well. Upon completion of the release schedule, a limited edition CD/LP box set containing all 12 records will be made available. Sworn Virgins was first discovered on Rhapsody on June 24, 2016, just as anticipation was building for the newly unveiled ORL Projects means of distribution for all previous and upcoming releases by Omar. This record prominently features The Mars Volta & Bosnian Rainbows bandmate Deantoni Parks who contributes percussion to the recordings ranging from his drum and keyboard setup most notably used in Bosnian Rainbows and throughout his solo work, to a more traditional full kit. The first two tracks form one 7 minute composition, as do tracks 7 & 8. The final two tracks are again the same composition split between the songs. "Crow's Feet" samples John Lennon's "How Do You Sleep?" and serves as a parody of the lyrics "those freaks". "Saturine" samples Invisible's fragment of "Durazno Sangrando"'s intro. A proper digital release of this album from Omar's new website and Bandcamp page, ORL Projects, was on July 15, 2016, with the limited CD release to follow. foobar2000 1.2.5 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1 Tracklist:

The EP was released on October 8, 2007 in Europe.
Rodriguez-Lopez had been a fan of Lydia's work and invited her to the All Tomorrow's Parties Festival when The Mars Volta curated it in December 2005. The meeting eventually resulted in their first recorded collaboration with the intention to record more in the future. The music was recorded in Amsterdam and New York and Lydia's vocals were recorded at her own studio in Barcelona. Cover design is by Sonny Kay. The symbols on the two buckets on the cover are Arabic coca-cola labels. Tracklist: 01. Omar Rodriguez Lopez & Lydia Lunch - Welcome to My Church (4:59) 02. It features both live performance of the group (then named Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Quintet) with Suzuki in Cologne, Germany on November 14, 2005, and studio recorded elements arranged together into one extended piece. The EP consists of a single 25-minute track split up over both sides of the record. Parts 1, 2, and 3 appear on side 1 and parts 4, 5, and 6 appear on side 2. It was released commercially on January 23, 2007 on vinyl, though GSL pre-orders began shipping in December 2006.
A shorter, instrumental studio version of the song appears on Se Dice Bisonte, No Búfalo, while the full EP with Damo's vocals appears as a bonus CD on the Japanese edition of the same album. A single track version of 24:49 is now available via Omar's digital store. Cover design is by Sonny Kay, who continues to have artistic involvement in all of Omar's records. The record was digitally released on April 30, 2010. It is the twentieth release by Omar, and their second collaboration following 2005's "0=2" vinyl single, which appears on this record along with its b-side, "0". These two tracks have been available digitally since October 3, 2006. This album was a free download with the option to donate for a period of time. All money raised has gone to "Keep Music In Schools". The album can now be downloaded for $3.99.
In December 2010, the album was released on CD in Japan through Sleepwell Records and enjoyed success, ending up on Amazon Japan's bestseller list as #2 in the Music > Alternative Rock and #22 in Music > Rock section. The album cover and art is from a picture that Omar took of John Frusciante. The guitar featured is one of Frusciante's notable instruments - a 1962 Fender Jaguar. In September 2012, it was announced that the album was being re-issued through Rodriguez Lopez Productions/Sargent House, this time both on vinyl and CD. The second vinyl pressing is on transparent red vinyl and limited to 1,000 copies, with the first 500 copies ordered containing a 11x17" folded posted designed from the cover of the album. As of January 10, 2013, the Vinyl reissue had sold out according to Sargent House / Rodriguez Lopez Productions' official distributor's website, Hellomerch.com. The album features Omar Rodríguez-López, Thomas Pridgen, Juan Alderete de la Peña, Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez, Ximena Sariñana and Mark Aanderud and was released digitally via Rodriguez-Lopez Productions on September 27, 2009. A limited edition of 1,000 vinyl was released on December 1.
At the time of release, the first two songs were from previously released Rodriguez-Lopez albums. The latter three were as of then unreleased. It is the second live album to be released by the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group, with the first being the live BBC studio session Los Sueños de un Hígado. Notably, during the week of these four concerts vocalist Ximena Sariñana was said to be suffering from laryngitis, a cold, and the flu. At the time of release all the songs had already been released in studio form, except "My Horror is in Park, Drive Me Away Troubled Heart", which was released as "Horror (original)" on ¿Sólo Extraño? in 2013. However, "Miel del Ojo" at 13 minutes is noticeably longer than its album version and is split into two parts (tracks 6 and 7). The latter features an extended jam, and despite sharing the name "Lorentz" with the composition which follows "Miel del Ojo" on Solar Gambling, is a completely different piece.

Although Rodriguez-Lopez Productions intended to release the album on December 28, 2012 (which is the date listed on the Bandcamp page), it was only made available on January 1, 2013, less than 2 hours after the release of Equinox. Since Omar Rodriguez Lopez's recent efforts were focused on his newly formed band, Bosnian Rainbows, this album was not as anticipated as it had been in 2011, when the album cover art had first appeared in the booklet for Rodriguez-Lopez's compilation album, Telesterion.
Since 2014 the album is no longer available to purchase officially, as Rodriguez-Lopez's Bandcamp page has been taken down after a split with Sargent House label. Tracklist: 01. It also includes a live take of "Vondelpark Bij Nacht" in the form of the title track, also from the self-titled record. Tracklist: 01. The Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Quintet - Melting Chariots (3:54) 02. July 2007 REM GENRE Rock ----------------------- foobar2000 1.3.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Cryptomnesia is the debut studio album by El Grupo Nuevo de Omar Rodriguez Lopez, released on May 5, 2009. The album is the first of three albums recorded by the band, and is Rodriguez-Lopez' eleventh solo record overall. According to Rodriguez-Lopez, the album was "recorded in the summer of 2006, around the same time I did Old Money. It was a very, very fun record to make. I made that record in five or six days."
The band features Omar Rodríguez-López on guitar, Zach Hill (Hella) on drums, Jonathan Hischke (Hella) on synth bass, and Juan Alderete (The Mars Volta) on bass guitar. Additionally, Cryptomnesia features the vocals of guest frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala on eight of the album’s eleven tracks. Rodriguez-Lopez completed the album in 2006, shortly after finishing The Mars Volta’s Amputechture. Bixler-Zavala’s vocals were tracked in summer of 2008. Regarding the release, Cedric Bixler-Zavala states: "if anyone's bummed that Octahedron is too simple or too pop, they can buy [this] album and it'll take them right back to that [heavier] kind of sound. It's one of my favourite things I've ever worked on. It's pretty much a Mars Volta record, just without Thomas [Pridgen], Ikey [Owens], and Marcel [Rodriguez-Lopez]." A special limited advance vinyl offering of only 3,000 copies was made available exclusively to indie retail in honor of Record Store Day on April 18 and saw its official release on cd, vinyl and digital everywhere on May 5, 2009. The album was made available for pre-order from hellomerch.com on April 8. In the liner notes of the album, Omar states: To soothe the symptoms of a cursed go-between, this magnetar of a record (an uncomfortable meditation on bad manners), was recorded in the foul summer of 2006. It then sat in my grotesquely overpopulated, roman holiday of a closet, awaiting its vocal tracks, which were finally realized in the illustrious Australian summer of 2008. Being predisposed to insults, I would like to say now that I love this record with all my guts and find it very much worth the wait (I hope you'll agree, though I sense some of you may not). This project, as many before it, though one small step in my (our) personal therapy, still bears the question: is our footing sure enough to be trusted? Tracklist: 01. It was released for download on February 14, 2010 via the Rodriguez-Lopez productions website, along with a limited pressing of 1,000 copies on vinyl.
The song titles are the Spanish names for each day of the week. Though they start with Monday (Lunes) and end with Sunday (Domingo), the titles are not in day order otherwise. Track listing of the original digital release had the tracks in order of the days of the week, with "Noche Día" ending the album, however this was changed later for unknown reasons. The band consists of former The Mars Volta members, Omar Rodríguez-López (guitar, backing vocals) and Deantoni Parks (drums, keyboards), alongside Le Butcherettes vocalist Teri Gender Bender and Nicci Kasper of KUDU and Dark Angels (keyboards).
Initially billed as a variation on the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group, the band was formed following a decision to put Rodriguez-Lopez's primary project, The Mars Volta, on hiatus. In March 2012, The Mars Volta released its sixth studio album, Noctourniquet, following a lengthy three year recording period. Only 19 tour dates were announced in support of the release, of which 18 were in Europe and one in Israel. Following the tour's completion, Rodríguez-López moved back to his home town of El Paso, Texas, and subsequently formed Bosnian Rainbows with frequent collaborator Teri Gender Bender of Le Butcherettes, Mars Volta drummer Deantoni Parks and Nicci Kasper, who previously worked with Parks in Kudu and also as the writing duo Dark Angels. Regarding the band's conception, Rodríguez-López noted, "I found myself lonely and bored. So it's like, 'OK, new phase — let's get into it and let's create a dialogue. Let's find some things out.'" Rodríguez-López subsequently put The Mars Volta on hiatus (although the band dissolved four months later) in order to focus on a more democratic project, stating, "It’s a band — that's something I haven’t been in for over eleven years. [...] [The Mars Volta] was my baby: I started the group; I named it; booked all our tours — it became known as my family, not my band. I had to be in control of everything and I was really fucking domineering with everybody, not just musicians." Rodríguez-López elaborated, "Doing films has taught me to be a collaborator, since it’s such a large medium, you couldn't do it on your own if you tried, you know? And also hanging out with all my friends, Jim and Tony and Paul, the At the Drive-In guys, and being in that headspace again, life puts you exactly where you need to be. You can try and pull away from it, but it will always remind you where your path is. So yeah, this past year has been a really illuminating experience for me." In September 2012, Bosnian Rainbows embarked upon its first tour under the banner of the Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group, with Rodríguez-López noting, "The tour was booked five months before it happened, and it was going to be another solo tour, and then at some point, I decided to start a new group and have a team effort. So it got booked one way, but I try to make it clear every night that this is a new group, and these are the names of the players, and “thank you.”" The band chose to rehearse at Clouds Hill Studios in Hamburg, Germany and also used the studio as a base for the tour. Rodriguez-Lopez and Johann Scheerer, founder of Clouds Hill first met in 2009 when recording for Johann's project Taka-Takaz. During the rehearsals Bosnian Rainbows recorded a live session, which was released on 10" vinyl and DVD as a part of Live at Clouds Hill limited edition box set in December 2012. After the European leg of the tour they returned to the studio to record their debut album. The album was recorded and produced by Scheerer and is expected to be out in spring 2013. Regarding the band's influences and aesthetic, Rodríguez-López noted, "These are very much shorter, more to-the-point songs [than The Mars Volta's]. They still have spaces that stretch out, but what I mean to say is that it’s all the same influences that have been in most of my writing and all the people in my bands’ writing. Can is there, Siouxsie and the Banshees is there, Gang of Four is there, all the Led Zeppelin, whatever... all those things are there, it’s just different elements of those things. You make it shorter. It’s stripped down, it’s starker. The very melodic side of Can; the very textural side of Siouxsie. You take all those elements, and you take elements that maybe you weren’t exploring as much before. On January 23, 2013, the band released their first single entitled "Torn Maps" on Soundcloud. Later, the song was released as a digital single on the band's Bandcamp page. On February 12, 2013, the second studio track, "Turtle Neck," was released on the band's Soundcloud and bandcamp pages. The debut self-titled album by Bosnian Rainbows was released worldwide via Clouds Hill Ltd on June 25, 2013. Bosnian Rainbows is the debut studio album by American alternative rock band Bosnian Rainbows, released on June 24, 2013 on Clouds Hill, Sargent House and Rodriguez-Lopez Productions.
Recorded and produced by Johann Scheerer, the album was recorded at Clouds Hill Studios in Hamburg, Germany in October 2012, during a break in band's touring schedule. Bosnian Rainbows debuted at #2 on Billboard Top Heatseekers chart. Tracklist: 01. Bosnian Rainbows - Eli (5:26) 02. Bosnian Rainbows - Worthless (3:30) 03. August 2011 REM GENRE Alternative ----------------------- foobar2000 1.3.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Antemasque (stylized as ANTEMASQUE) is an American rock band formed in 2014 by former members of At the Drive-In and The Mars Volta, Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala. Their first album featured Red Hot Chili Peppers's Flea on bass and Dave Elitch on drums. Both Flea and Elitch had previously played with The Mars Volta. Despite initial reports to the contrary, Flea is not a member of the group but only played on their first album and let the band use his recording studio. Omar's brother Marfred Rodríguez-López (formerly of Zechs Marquise) eventually joined as a permanent bassist.
On April 9, 2014 the project was announced, and they released their first single "4AM" on the same day. Rolling Stone described the song as "a charging, punkish rocker with the sorts of squiggly noodling that both the Mars Volta guys and Flea have used as calling cards in their respective groups." The next day, the band released a second song, "Hangin in the Lurch", on their bandcamp page which is described as a mix of progressive rock and punk rock. The song's description mentions that it will be released on an upcoming self-titled album. Their third single "People Forget" was released on April 11, 2014. On April 15, the band released their fourth single, "Drown All Your Witches". Their self-titled debut album was released on November 10, 2014. Tracklist:
