Fascinated by stories about parallel worlds, the beginnings of Öxxö Xööx were centered upon the question of life in other words than ours.
The first concerts of Öxxö Xööx's original line-up were interpreted by two "extraterrestrials".
After a long time of questioning, of growing awareness, of huge empathy towards earthly pain in each and every cell, as it is suffered by the human, animal, vegetal being, and filled with a huge desire of expressing this life, emprisoned and mutilated, in the depths of being.
In a world where the mind's blooming seemed unreachable, this project, above all, was a means to find a reason to live according to one's inner truth.
It has been the purpose of several years of research, aiming to find a way to bring together many artistic fields through a singular vision of art.
We have invented our own language issued from intuition, then we codified it and gave it rules.
This language translates spontaneous emotions which generate sounds; the voice, as an instrument, takes on a true importance and all the emotion is released, at first, through the choice of sounds.
This language thus allows a totally unique vision of expression.
It stands as the opposite of what is taught by our world, a way to fight an oppressive way of thinking.
The sounds are elaborated so that they get a meaning, and hence is created a personal lexicon of more or less four-hundred words.
These words can come out of sheer intuition or have a link with existing languages.
As far as the meaning is concerned, « Rëvëürt » (title of the first album) means "the revolt of heart" from the deepest of ourselves, a revolt which tries to take us out of our lingering darkness and to make us able to go on living in this material world we are not meant for.
The concept of the word Öxxö Xööx has several origins. It mixes the symbols of the Yin and Yang, the Ouroboros and the hexadecimal system (0110 = 6 ; 1001 = 9), the « X »s standing for the « 1 »s, which puts yet a bigger stress on the opposition with the « O ».
Each vowel has a « ¨ » sign, to render a specific accent to our language (for lack of a whole alphabet with new symbols).
Öxxö Xööx thus means the number 69, representing evolution, symbolising above all the desire to transform the 6 into a 9, to free the immaterial Yang (Light, Life, Love, the Sky, anything good) of the empire of the material Yin (the darkness, death, earth, the negative) within everything of this universe.
It represents, at the same time, the emprisonment of life in duality, the opposite forces of the universe, and the eternal « all over again » (the curse of reincarnation).
It also symbolizes the building and the desire to break the walls of this carnal and material prison.
It is the will to reconnect with The Great Spirit Of Life (the true God) within us while being profoundly anti-religious.
It is because we have carnal bodies that we are separated from one another and that we are fighting each other.
We are all demons coveting the others’ energy to survive.
This world is a place of constant war; even our cells are fighting each other.
It is because we are vampires, made of earth, that the sun burns our flesh.
Love and beauty shall save the spirits of this material universe.
Each and every creature has its own reason to live, deserving respect, protection, and love just for the sake of what it is.
As a reflection of a world that suffers and dies a little more each and every day, Öxxö Xööx's music is dark and sad. At the same time, it is full of hope and of a fire that can sometimes burn.
This music has turned towards fighting, a benevolent and controled rage, which aims to free the emprisoned life.
The musical instruments that are used are both ancient and futuristic. It is avant-garde Doom, with grand organs, harpsichords, string ensembles and opera, with Metal and Electronic music lead by the voices of Laurent Lunoir and Laure Le Prunenec.
There is a strong bond between the music and the visuals.
On stage, we have costumes and sculptures with bright stones.
We try to dramatize our inner truths, and our true personalities, through a tribal and telluric visual to try to recreate the link between the earth and the celestial worlds.
Art is magic and provokes something indescribable in man.
Music is therapy for us and above all, a cure.
It is through the fact that only beauty can make the heart beat, that we have created our own method, which consists of escaping the muddy banks of the hell of flesh and soul, of the determinisms and the dull grey forces of predatorial thoughts that surround us in this time.
All of this has one purpose: to make our seed grow, to see it turn into a tree which roots will grow deeper and deeper into the earth, fire, and darkness, who’s branches will rise high above into the skies and the celestial worlds.
We believe there are many methods of elevation that are each individual.
There was a time when we rebeled against Light, it is about time we rebel against the Darkness.

In a world where the mind's blooming seemed unreachable, this project, above all, was a means to find a reason to live according to one's inner truth, in this limited reality. We have invented our own language coming from intuition, then we codified it and gave it rules. This language is translated by spontaneous emotions which generate sounds; the voice, as an instrument, takes on a true importance and all the emotion is released, at first, through the choice of sounds. This language thus allows a totally unique vision of expression. The sounds are also developed in order to give them a meaning, and hence a personal lexicon is created. These words can come out of sheer intuition or have a link with existing languages.
The concept of the word Öxxö Xööx has several origins. It mixes the symbols of the yin and yang, the Ouroboros and the hexadecimal system (0110 = x6 1001 = x9), the « X »s standing for the « 1 »s, which puts yet a bigger stress on the opposition with the « O ». Each vowel has a « ¨ » sign, to render a specific accent to our language (for lack of a whole alphabet with new symbols). It is also the symbol of the duality of this universe. Öxxö Xööx thus means 69, symbolising above all the desire to transform the 6 into a 9 to free the immaterial (the superluminous soul) from the empire of the materialism (the underluminous body) within everything of this universe, where evil is possible. It represents, the opposite forces of the world, the eternal « recurrence » (atomic recycling) and expresses a position facing the entropy present everywhere in the tangible universe. To break free from all forms of limitation and alienation.
As a reflection of a world that suffers and dies a little more each and every day, Öxxö Xööx's music is dark and sad. At the same time, it is full of hope. Because everything goes back to light and love, inevitably. Because this world is simply an ephemeral game where we are experimenting suffering through evil in a three-dimensional existence. For us there is no movement without a goal, and the goal is simply light, perfection, and absolute love, in the original and real dimension. This project is like a battle, a rage which aims to free the imprisoned life, inside of the embodied being. It is spiritual music that wants to elevate the soul to the original light, in a unique way, wild and free. Without prescribing to a religious practice.
The musical instruments that are used are both ancient and futuristic. It is avant-garde and experimental doom metal, with grand organs, harpsichords, string ensembles and opera, with metal and electronic music lead by the voices of Öxxö Xööx (Laurent Lunoir), Rïcïnn (Laure Le Prunenec), and the drums of Isarnos (Thomas Jacquelin). On stage, we are made up, in costume, dressed and surrounded by sculptures with bright, blue stones. We try to dramatize our inner truths, and our true personalities, through a tribal and telluric visual that's come from our imagination, another reality where there is no limit. To try to recreate the link between the Earth and true reality, to break all the walls above our heads, which encloses, limits us and prevents us from raising ourselves.
Art is magic and music is therapy for us and above all, a cure. We created our own method of liberation, the depth of mind and beauty can make the heart beat, the intimate revolt against evil in humans is proof of one's membership in goodness. All of this has one purpose: to make our seed grow, to see it turn into a tree whose roots will grow into the Earth, whose branches will rise high above into the infinite universe.
We are the convict of the land jail, a prison for the violent and killer spirits, retained on Earth thanks to the bodies and gravity. When we don't want to kill anymore we can get out of the three-dimensional cube. There was a time when we rebeled against light and shut up in a cube, it is about time we rebel against the darkness, to get out of this limiting cube.

The unique, French, avant-garde doom unit that features Öxxö Xööx [Igorrr / WHOURKR] on full songwriting duties and the operatic treasure [Rïcïnn / Corpo-Mente / Igorrr] on guest vocals.
“Ÿ” also utilizes synth guitar processing by cybermetal mastermind MASTER BOOT RECORD.
Expanding the thematic foci of the band, their self-created language peels back layers surrounding the nature of reality while trying to comprehend the truth of an ambiguous and ominous “cube.”
The album opens with a solemn funeral dirge – for a character, for mankind, or perhaps for sanity. Oozing with beauty and melancholic doom, the album gives way to bell-like organs before drums build to an assault. The record shifts rapidly from haunting laments to utter desperation and unhinged mania as the 78-minute journey spirals deeper and deeper into the maze of enigma.
