Philip loved to walk and live around the romantic landscape and beautiful countryside of Dorset. He never felt the need to live anywhere else apart from frequent visits to his second love, the wild beauty of Cornwall. These two beautiful counties gave Philip the inspiration to compose music with a significant third influence being his grandmother’s love of music. Philip’s grandparents were musicians, and in the 1940s they had a dance band, his grandmother played the piano and his grandfather the cello. Philip’s grandmother was also a music teacher and regularly played the organ in churches. Despite Philip being very close to his grandmother; Philip showed no interest or aptitude in music as a child. However, under the influence and support of his grandmother Philip became more interested. After Philip’s grandmother died in 1984 he felt he had to learn to play an instrument properly and purchased a Hammond organ. Philip found he could play the instrument with ease and shortly after started to write music. Over the next twelve months Philip’s interest in music increased dramatically and he started to record his own compositions. Today Philip’s music continues to attract a huge world wide following and he has created a position as the Master of the orchestrated music with the sounds of strings and piano being a hallmark of his style. In recent years Philip also writes and produces music for his second passion – filming and photography. Over the past few years and by special commission he has diversified into producing training films. Philip enjoys composing music for these films and has found photography and filming another opportunity to showcase and share his unique musical and creative talents. Sadly, Philip passed away, age 55, after a long illness, on Christmas eve, 2009. Despite his challenges in the last few years he found great comfort in music, especially classical, his own compositions and those of his fellow composers in the genre. He also felt very touched and honoured when other people contacted him and shared with him the support and hope his music gave them. He hoped that his music would go on and continue to bring inspiration, hope and brighter days to others long after he was gone. --
