' BLUE KNIGHTS ' Full Discography :: 1992-2005 :: 5+1CD Genre: New Age / Smooth Jazz
Country: Germany Format: MP3, 320 kbps, CBR [Lame 3.98] from lossless (флейта, саксофон), Bill Joseph Flynn (гитара), Dirk Erchinger (ударные). Original Release: 1992 Innovative Communication (Germany) (Sep 1992)

Arrangements, programming and keyboards are the work of the composers Jay Heye and Curtis McLaw. They've added guitar and saxophone to produce some rich sounds and some very tight arranging. Sensual jazz, light house grooves and some fine piano playing turn this into a first-rate CD debut. Review by Wislndixie (Birmingham AL) :: Amazon.com: This is an awesome album. Very smooth music and keeps you in an upbeat mood. Love to listen as I drive and it can be very romantic.. Original Release: 1993 Innovative Communication (March 22, 1994)

Review by "gitcha1" (Louisville, Ky): The cool song "Red Night "first got my attention on this CD. It just has that haunting melody that I look for in the "space jazz" or acid jazz realm. Some songs are immediately catchy, and others may take a few times to catch on. But they are all just kind of fun, catchy tunes that have a bit of a dance beat to them. Some may say that it borders on hip hop pop. Still it's a fresh, clean sound that these two guys keep coming up with. I understand that this is very popular music on the fashion world runways and that this might scare true fusion jazz folks, but give it a listen, and I think it will fill a jazz void some where in your collection. I heard that the two guys who write for this group also write for Dancing Fantasy,who is also a great space jazz group. Review by Distant Voyageur "Nicholas Computer" (Io): Though I'vel istened to this subgenre for my entire life, I've had mixed feelings about it throughout. Yet Blue Knight's "Red Night" album could arguably stand as being among the greatest treasures to come out of a genre that all too frequently falls into elevator music status. In case many aren't aware of Blue Knights are/were a side-project of the equally marvelous group Dancing Fantasy. It is difficult to distinguish the two groups at face value but Blue Knights have a more dance/groove oriented style to their music where as Dancing Fantasy is more atmospheric and slightly mellower. "Red Night" is a spectacular, upbeat, and cosmopolitan release that in my opinion carries on the sophistication of "Moonlight Reflections" and gives it an even more urban vibe with tracks like the edgy spunk of "Kitty Kat", "Soft Silk", to the haunting dance groove of "Night Flight" to the dance/pop/jazz party of "Downtown", Blue Knight's "Red Night" is among the greatest hard-to-find treasures you could possibly ask for. Buy it today! Review by Coustomer: Red Nights is cool, contemporary jazz. The piano is moody, the sax is sexy and the guitar stings and teases. A follow-up release to their chart-topping Blue Night, Red Night is music for jazz fans as well as New Age music lovers. The uptempo beat guides Blue Knights' relaxed fusion jazz sound but can be just as adaptable to the dance floor. The music is complex, offering numerous interpretations, but never becomes overly serious. A line here and a note there remind the listener that jazz is serious fun. Warner "westend117" (www.bluemangocafe.net): More interesting than smooth jazz, more rich than pure dance, Blue Knights takes strong influences of both to create cool grooves. "Tropical Night" collects enough material for an entire studio album plus a few previously hard to find tracks including a slowed-down version of their club/trance track "Gimme all your lovin'" as well as two other rare gems from Innovative Communication collection albums. It's a description that could be attached to any number of smooth-jazz recordings, and it certainly applies to Night Talk from the German foursome Blue Knights, a group whose best-known member is composer-keyboarist-producer Curtis McLaw, one-half of the duo Dancing Fantasy. Pleasant to the point of innocuousness, this 59-minute package offers modest production values and minimal virtuosity, but its mid- and uptempo melodies offer just enough attractiveness that it may find its way onto smooth-jazz playlists. The brightest candidates for such recognition are "Funky Bill," peppered with Al Jarreau-like vocalizing and finger-snapping grooves, and "Vegaz Dance," a mild-mannered toe-tapper for flute and piano. The one track that offers something other than a formula smooth-jazz structure is an appealing, slow-go piano solo ("The Moon") that McLaw inserts as the disc's penultimate track. Otherwise, Night Talk is largely inoffensive, easily accessible background music for your next patio party. Review by "augey" (Chicago IL USA): To kill some time today I decided to read some customer reviews on CDs that I had owned. I was very surprised to see that only 1 person had reviewed this CD and that was only recently. As good as this CD is I had expected to see more. All the songs are piano accompanied with guitar, sax and flute and are all very smooth and relaxing. My favorites are "Next Sunset", "Saturday Morning", and "Smooth Night". This is a great CD to listen to while driving or cleaning the house. Original Release: 2005 Dream Music (Russia)
