Known for his emotive and cinematic soundscapes, Simon’s journey has taken him through a wide range of musical styles, from avant-garde experimentalism to peak-time dancefloor anthems. A classically trained musician with a deep passion for storytelling, he has released music under various influential aliases, including Lunatic Calm, Elite Force, and Zodiac Cartel, as well as under his own name. Simon’s career began in the late 1980s during his time at Exeter University, where he formed the experimental band Headless Chickens alongside Thom Yorke (Radiohead), John Matthias, and Laura Forrest-Hay. His trajectory into electronic music started with the pioneering electronic rock outfit Flicker Noise, followed by Lunatic Calm, whose music became iconic for its inclusion in films like The Matrix and countless video games. As Elite Force, Simon was a defining figure in the tech-funk movement, merging breaks, techno, house, and electro into a dynamic, award-winning sound. foobar2000 1.2.5 / Dynamic Range Meter 1.1.1  Lunatic Calm were a UK-based electronic music group, specializing in big-beat hardcore and down-tempo trip-hop. Formed in 1996, they comprised of Simon 'sHack' Shackleton and Howard 'Howie' Saunders. They composed and produced several high-energy tracks and two albums. The group are most famous for their track Leave You Far Behind, which has appeared on numerous movie soundtracks including The Matrix, Charlie's Angels, and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Together, they have also done numerous remixes for artists such as Bush, DJ Scissorkicks, and Curve. Lunatic Calm quietly split up since the release of Breaking Point in 2002, with Simon placing the blame on record labels (this was also a factor in the numerous delays in releasing their last album). However, Simon has been an active DJ for many years, operating under the names Elite Force and Simon Shackleton and winning multiple Breakspoll Awards and a Beatport Award for best selling breaks track in 2010. Klaus Badelt has been responsible for many of the finest soundtracks in recent years, including Pirates of the Caribbean and Gladiator. The orchestral parts were recorded at Abbey Road Studios and as source material were second to none ... the charge for me (and Noisia who did the other half of the in-game soundtrack) was to work his themes into music befitting of the game. In the space of 4 weeks I went from a handful of raw orchestral stems, to upwards of 15 different and finished tracks for use in the game. A few months later, and with the kind permission of SCEE I set about evolving these works into longer-form pieces, and thus the 'Shockland' album was born. released June 13, 2011
