Main theme of Dunkelwerk is the moment of total defeat. No glory, no victory just the sweet smell of discomfiture. An atmosphere of leave, loss and comedown. The whole concept of Dunkelwerk focuses on this aspects. There is no heroism or glory. Fatal catastrophes for lives, homes and love. No options left...
Because of the first album “Troops” the project was reduced to war themes by some media. The war theme is just one possible carrier to bring the main theme to life. "Troops" and the third album "Operation: Duesterland" are for sure two of the strongest statements against war in general and the often naive used militaristic style by many scene bands. We don´t play games here. Nevertheless Dunkelwerk is no replacement for the creation of political awareness! Political education is not our business.

depicts the execution of the commandant of the German city of Gotha who disobeyed by capitulating in front of the marching American army in the last days of WW2. While the song "Battlefield" is about the well-known multiplayer first person shooter series, "Wolkenschloss" is a stomper which might give some hints how the DUNKELWERK bunker looks like... who knows? Just take your headphones, choose a silent dark hour in the end of the day, sit down and get lost in the chaos and defeat that DUNKELWERK exhales second after second.
