Tracklist: 01.Marconi Union - Slow Motion (6:32) “Marconi Union have been supplying the world with superior ambient music for some 14 years now” The Sunday Times “Marconi Union always find beauty in the bleakest places" Uncut Marconi Union’s ‘Slow Motion’ is the first release on The Ambient Zone. The Marconi Union sound has quietly whispered its way into the consciousness of those searching out ambient music. Their music is continuing to develop a style of its own with each release, yet across all of their albums there are streaks of black humour and pools of shimmering beauty revealed in their slow undulating groove. And however bleak things might sometimes sound, there's always a glimmer of hope, a faint glint on the horizon. After fourteen years of writing and performing, the reclusive trio from Manchester– founder members Richard Talbot and Jamie Crossley with keyboard player Duncan Meadows – are thought to be “amongst today's most talented musicians” The Sunday Times. They have continually steadily developed and refined a unique musical identity, evoking emotions from gracefully blending elements of dub, jazz, ambience and electronica within their richly melodic compositions. Their recent album 'Ghost Stations' has just won Best Electronic Album at the Zone Music Awards 2017 in the US, a Grammy equivalent honouring electronic, ambient, new age and contemporary instrumental music as voted for by the US Broadcasters. Their track Weightless, from the Ambient Transmissions album series, is generally considered to be the worlds most relaxing song. With its tens of millions of streams and over 24 million You Tube views, Weightless has spent 29 weeks at No. 1 in the US Official Billboard charts for New Age Digital Songs. released July 14, 2017

Tracklist: 01.Cord Labuhn - Unter Deck (5:09) The title 'Unter Deck’ is German and a blend of 'under sheets' and the nautic 'below decks'. I guess I made this tune rather like a blanket or a pillow to rest on, or a cosy cabin on a sail boat, round and warm, slow an peaceful. And dynamic-wise very much opposite to all the physical dance music i was writing with Robosonic. So happy it found it’s harbour with The Ambient Zone. At six years old, CORD LABUHN had his first real career aspiration : becoming an ‘inventor’. Or space traveller. At least working in some kind of laboratory. Hence he became a producer of beats, tunes, records, imagery & merch - and toured the whole planet to play music for the most spaced out... Earlier, when the ghost of Jimi Hendrix jumped out of his parents record collection and passionately promoted the guitar as the weapon of choice for a leftist punk, folk, if not eurodance infected teenager of the 90s, the piano and his sister’s drumset would have to step back for a while. A few years later when TV was still the thing and gaming consoles like PS1 were battling N64, Cord the Beatmaker was rather staring at tiny AKAI S2000, MPC and CRT displays, head-nodding, turning the jogwheels, dreaming of a second turntable to complete his DJ setup - the true school, golden age hiphop way. Next mission - still as a school kid - was a self-released vinyl record with international distribution through a self-founded label. Arriving in Berlin and founding the mashup label „BROKEN BOOTLEGS“ was good sparring for more delinquent ventures in professional sampling culture. Musical diversion had found an anarchic playground, genre-bending seemed to be a good concept for a radical open mind. To date, his longest running project is ROBOSONIC, which was formed as a DJ-producer duo together with Sacha Robotti over 10 years ago. A while after their unconventional, free-spirited debut album „Sturm und Drang“ (2007) they took the world by storm with a string of popular tunes and remixes that went into the crates of tens of thousands of DJs worldwide and made it to top spots in the infamous Beatport charts ROBOSONIC became an authentic figurehead for something dubbed “Golden Era House” (Juice Magazine). Today, after his partner emigrated to the US, Cord the DJ is playing most of the ROBOSONIC shows alone. The house & techno driven sets and releases under this moniker are internationally recognised and performances in 40+ countries reflect the universal appeal of a trademark sound they unleashed into the world. Somewhere along that way Cord Labuhn has succeeded not only in making marks in the history of Berlin’s musical identity but also in commercial and academic fields of his own design: His Humboldt University thesis on the digital future of DJing and its cultural conflicts, was published in 2009 with support from the Goethe Institute and Fink Verlag. From research and Academia to entrepreneurial inspiration, Cord’s practical but stylish invention – the “Punchi” towelscarf – has become not only a trademark for connecting creative endeavors with “real life matters” in physical form, but also for his creation of hybrids – bringing together the best of both worlds. Add commissioned works in the field of fashion and you may empathise as to why Cord the human often seems too ‘lazy’ for much disposable social media content in the century of the selfie. For 2017 Cord Labuhn has redefined his structures and launches a series called OUTTAKES. The label and collaborative hub serves primarily as a studio-to-listeners feed – to pilot an own musical direction, independent from A&R decisions, laws of the market – out of the box. A conscious counterpart and soulful antidote to the dance music business with its particular formulas,t he project has already found favour with, and features contributions from the likes of EPMD. Cord’s artful hybrids and organic blends, zone effortlessly between subversive underground culture, the high-heel house and hippie hoppie heaven – and we are delighted to welcome him to The Ambient Zone. released July 28, 2017

Tracklist: 01.Digitonal - Mirtazapine (3:50) “I’ve always wanted to make music that’s emotive for me and the audience, I think it’s quite difficult with electronic music, to get the right blend. But that’s what I’m always working towards.” Musician and producer Andrew Dobson has been recording and performing his particular take on classically-influenced electronica as Digitonal since the late nineties. Part of the late phase of UK melodic electronica, Digitonal came to prominence on the seminal Toytronic Records label with a track on their Neurokinetic compilation (recently featured in the recent FACT magazine top 100 IDM records) and a debut album, 23: Things Fall Apart, on that label shortly afterwards. A classically trained clarinettist and former chorister, the clean lines of minimalism and Early Music in particular have informed his role as an Electronica producer. Signing to the Just Music label in 2008, his album Save Your Light For Darker Days was released to great critical acclaim : “A heavenly overture…sweeping bows and tumultuous build ups...if the bass doesn’t get you then the throb of the cello will” Music OMH “A slowburning atmospheric beast…shimmering with a yearning romanticism…heartbreakingly lovely” Rock Sound. Digitonal’s next release, a retrospective of his carreer to date, Be Still My Bleeping Heart met similar high praise. His most recent album, Beautiful Broken, evokes the subtlety and self-contained intimacy of chamber music, but as befits Dobson’s recent reconnection with Ambient, these elements move slowly through a cool electronic space. What defines Ambient for him is the literal meaning of the word more than a particular musical genre, specifically the expanse of sound that he experienced singing in a choir in a candlelit Durham Cathedral. There’s a melancholy, a bitter-sweetness to Digitonal’s music, and whichever way Dobson’s particular balance of acoustic and electronic sounds tip in the future, he is currently searching for the kind of emotional narrative and sense of connection that one gets from songs. Alongside frequent collaborators, most notably Egyptian violinist Samy Bishai, harpist Kat Arney and singer Kirsty Hawkshaw, Digitonal have toured extensively and have been in demand as a live act, known for their improvised sets of great range and beauty, with the band’s musicianship taking centre stage alongside the laptop button pushing. We are delighted to welcome him to The Ambient Zone. released August 11, 2017

Tracklist: 01.Sker - Burgundy (4:28) ‘Sker’ is a project by a new young and exciting producer/artist, Sam Brown. It is based on bringing a fresh approach to music & to the production aspect, focused on creating an otherworldly vibe and being open to experimentation, pushing the limits of what the artist can create. “This track is different to the usual, it is a mix of upbeat-downtempo whilst retaining its Ambient grounding. The name is an ode to my first Fender Telecaster which I recently purchased and used to record the guitar for this piece, so it felt right that it was named after it and its beautiful colour.” In 2016 Sam released two ‘Sker’ EPs both very different to previous releases as they were heavily instrument-centric, exhibiting the new artistic direction in which ‘Sker’ was headed. Sam also features on various compilations, remix albums and a CD release under a new, collaborative alias called ‘Opeɪk’ (pronounced Opaque). ‘Dangerous’ has been his most successful track to date - featuring on BBC Radio 1 as free download of the week, garnering a lot of attention from fans and industry alike and becoming the highest climber on the Amazing Radio charts in the space of a week. Sam is currently actively writing music under the ‘Sker’ moniker, translating his signature sound into an exciting and immersive live context. “For me, ambient music has broad boundaries and isn’t defined by its archetypical instruments, sounds or synths, but allows artistic freedom and invokes a space to think and reflect. Having grown up in a picturesque seaside town with a huge variety of environments - beaches, forests, city & countryside - that, in a way, has given me more varied inspiration and has, in turn, altered my perception of the way in which ‘ambient music’ should be perceived and produced” released August 25, 2017

Tracklist: 01.Chris Coco - Friday's Child (4:28) “Friday’s Child is from a collection of eight tracks that were inspired by a trip to Burma and some immersion into the amazing culture of South East Asia. It's a wordless outsiders view of the feeling of another place.” This track is lush, mellow, melodic and rapturous, exactly what you would expect from one of the grand masters of sunset music. Music with inner and outer space. Chris is a tastemaker and one of the early pioneers of the “chill out scene’ on Ibiza and on the airwaves. He has been a DJ since the acid house explosion of the late 80s. He has also edited DJ Magazine and worked for BBC Radio 1 on the after hours show, The Blue Room. He currently broadcasts and syndicates an award winning weekly electronic music radio show called Melodica and runs his labels, Chris Coco Music and Disappear. Living in London and Ibiza he DJs all over the world. Chris’s musical style has developed from his original house beginnings and drawing on those years of experience and is probably best now described as ‘Balearic’. His club/festival/party sets feature the best of the current releases and a selection of classics with a little Balearic disco and a few eclectic surprises thrown in. His sunset/beach sets are more laid back and eclectic, and are also something special. About ambient music he says: “I have always like the idea of functional music, the right sound for the right environment or mood. All music is 'ambient', in the way it invisibly fills a space and creates an atmosphere, and though ambient has become a sort of genre in its own right the sound of it should not be restricted to one style or sound or rigid structure. This music is meant for moments of calm and relaxation. It can be listened to and enjoyed as a whole experience or used as a mood enhancer.” Chris has made artist albums for Warp and Distinctive Records and compilations for Playboy, Ministry of Sound, EMI Classical and Trojan Records. His music has appeared on many compilations including the big ones, Cafe Del Mar and Hotel Costes and has also been featured on Sex And The City, Nip Tuck, House and many other TV shows. We are delighted that he has accepted our invitation to be a part of the Ambient Zone. released September 8, 2017

Tracklist: 01.Ben Fehr & Liam Cutler - Lock (3:55) Ben Fehr & Liam Cutler are a contemporary electronic pairing from London. They started working together in 2016 and their self-titled project pursues deep electronic sounds, working with modern textures along side unconventional composition to create intensely rhythmic and melodic soundscapes. “Neither minimal nor dance, ‘Lock’ for us occupies the space in between, the ambient calm of repetitiveness. The track for us works as a simple chord sequence and a repetitive kick drum.” It is emotions evoked purely through sound, without any subject matter, that make ambient music so important for Ben and Liam. The ambiguous term of ‘ambient’ for them leaves space for a listener to take what they want or need from nothing more than sounds. Often collaborating with visual artists in live situations, the pair also work to create an immersive experience through audio-visual shows and cinematic songwriting. released September 22, 2017

Tracklist: 01.RinneRadio - Yasmin (5:05) “One day my parents decided to invest in a new home stereo system and it was only after being around the wonderful new device, albeit very modest by today’s standards, that I started to discover new worlds within the music I was hearing. The stereophonic sound image and the sense of space it provided, the sheer power of the volume, and the audio landscape stretching from the bass deep down all the way up to the tinny high end gave me goosebumps. Now I could listen to almost anything, suddenly it was all about sound.” Yasmin is music in a magic grotto – where the early gentle breaths of clarinet swirl out of a bubbling spring to be joined in rapture by divine notes which bounce around the cave and float to heaven – it is uplifting and truly breathtaking. RinneRadio is a group of electro jazz pioneers from Finland. Founded by woodwind specialist and saxophonist Tapani Rinne, they have a distinct tonal approach to the music they create, their hypnotic and trance inducing washes of sound meeting Nordic coolness in exciting and unprecedented ways that evoke prime Brian Eno and late-period Miles Davis in equal measure. Long before ”nu jazz” came and went in the late 1990s, Tapani was part of a team of mad musical scientists in Finland who were busy exploring the three-way interface between improvised music, electronic beats and ambient soundscapes. Music had always been an essential part of Tapani’s life. He studied clarinet at music school in his hometown Pori, played the saxophone in the school orchestra and spent evenings and weekends playing with various groups. He also started developing a budding interest in jazz. It was from this background that RinneRadio was formed. “Mood, color, atmosphere, space, sound. These elements have been equally important to me when compared to the more traditional musical features of melody, rhythm and harmony” The band regularly reinvents itself, performing all over the world, releasing a total of eleven albums to date. Whilst their vision comes primarily from woodwind specialist Tapani, in true collaborative spirit he regularly invites an array of exciting musicians to play and record with them. On ‘Yasmin’, the core of Rinne’s bass clarinet, co-producer Konsta Mikkonen’s electronics and Juuso Hannukainebn’s percussion become magnified by the talents of ECM artist and pianist Iro Haarla, famous Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto together with young and talented artists Aino Kurki and Lauri Wuolio. released October 6, 2017

Tracklist: 01.Echaskech - Panoptican Blue (5:28) “Inspired by a trip to Yakushima, Japan, ‘Panoptican Blue’ is built around field recordings made deep within the bewitchingly beautiful, ancient forests of the island. Created as a reminder of this extraordinary place - multiple synth patches were bounced to tape, layered, pitch bent and processed to build a shifting backdrop across which we added our own vocals and further effects." Echaskech are a London based electronic act who draw on numerous influences ranging across techno, ambient, acid, IDM, classical and drum and bass, combining them into a unique and compelling amalgamation of sound. Panoptican Blue surrounds you in a halo of celestial wonder where the light glimpses and glints, the planets glide and glisten, and the music moves and marvels. Otherworldly yet organic in theme, the track conjures up images of this distant Japanese place, with themes of exploration and habitation of a distant world permeating through. With three albums released on Just Music alongside diverse acts such as Jon Hopkins, Leo Abrahams, Marconi Union and Will Dutta, Echaskech have seen fantastic radio support from BBC 6 Music and great critical acclaim across a range of press including Mojo, Drowned in Sound, The Crack, The Skinny and The Irish Times. “Brian Eno sums up the genre perfectly with the statement: “Ambient music allows many different types of attention.” We love that you can choose where to place yourself within ambient music. Ambient is generous in that it doesn’t steal or smother attention unless you allow it to - indeed, it grants the listener an ability to choose how they use the music. This malleability is unique to ambient - enabling options of which journey to go on when listening, either directed by the sounds themselves or with the music in combination with another activity such as mindfulness or reading a book. Producing ambient music holds equally as exciting possibilities – a chance to conjure sounds and atmospheres from memories, emotions or field recordings and where traditional ‘rules’ and structures around making music can be discarded.” In the live environment they team up with visual artist Mach V to deliver shows of excitement and distinction. released October 20, 2017

Tracklist: 01.Opdot - Mollify (4:19) “The title of this track, Mollify, means to appease anger or anxiety. Its distorted opening encapsulates the stresses of daily life whilst the soaring simplistic melody transcends this, quelling the confusion beneath. The middle section submerges the listener in swells of sub before a return to the opening melody gently lifts the listener, providing a memory of the familiar” Shrouded in a musical mist, Mollify is both mysterious and magnificent – a blanket of intriguing textures and movements, and soothing sounds. Opdot comprise classically trained pianist Tim Laverak and bass player and specialist electronic engineer, Gavin Kirtley. The key to their quintessential sound is in the constant development of thematic material within classical structures and forms – the result being something utterly distinctive and quite extraordinary. With influences ranging from Loscil and Tim Hecker to Ben Frost and Hammock, Opdot have a musical eye for detail and an ear for melody, textures and mood. Their compositions marry emotive melodic electronica with intricate rhythms blending synthesizers and acoustic timbres. They recently released an album, Opus One, on the Just Music label. “ Ambient music is an ever expanding trope of sub genres that relax and refresh. It is music for the mind and soul to feast on, transporting the listener, inviting them to take one’s time, to view things from a different perspective. It abates the stress of life and embraces the listener in a warm and tender hug” released November 17, 2017

Tracklist: 01.The Green Kingdom - La Mer Verte (4:47) “Ambient music for me is a refuge, an ethereal escape from the all-too hectic world we live in. I am always seeking to create soundtracks for environments, both existent and imagined.” The Green Kingdom is Michael Cottone, a graphic designer and sound artist based in Michigan. Michael is Interested in creating compositions which blur the lines between soundscape and structure while keeping a sharp focus on melody. His pieces are crafted using a variety of instruments, electronic sources, sampled textures and field recordings. Michael’s aim when creating ‘La Mer Verte’, was to capture the hypnotic motion of a calm sea, perhaps in the same way as it’s inspiration, Debussy's ‘La Mer’. With its gentle rippling sounds both soothing and fragile, it seems to almost caress you in the gentle waves of a tranquil sea. The Ambient Zone selects and curates ambient music from across the full musical spectrum, releasing new ambient tracks and playlisting them alongside the very best existing ambient tracks in its Essential, Classics, Voyage and Balance Playlists with the intention that The Ambient Zone will become the pre-eminent destination and definitive home of ambient music online. Best known for their track Weightless, acclaimed as a brilliant piece of ambient music and widely considered to be the most relaxing track in the world, the first track, Marconi Unions’ Slow Motion soars and spins, and has all of the compelling Marconi Union signature sound that has quietly whispered its way into the consciousness of ambient music lovers worldwide. Slow, peaceful, round and warm, Berlin based renown Producer and DJ, Cord Labuhn’s Unter Deck (track two) is a deliciously teasing track which drifts and dazzles and disappears and comes back again - an artful and compelling hybrid, an organic blend of ambient electronica, guitars, synths, beats and interweaving melodies. Following this, long time established classical composer and clarinetist, electronica and beats wizard Digitonal brings all his immense talent to creating the ultimate musical antidepressant journey in the uplifting and joyful Mirtazapine. Here his delicate clarinet playing moves subtly through a cool electronic space to create a track of great range and beauty. Then we have Londoner Sam Brown bringing a fresh approach to music and the production creating an ‘otherworldly’ vibe. Magical and mesmeric ambient music with fairy dust - Burgundy charms and swirls - dance music for the angels. What better after this than the lush, mellow, melodic and rapturous, Friday’s Child - exactly what you would expect from one of the grand masters of sunset music – tastemaker and one of the early pioneers of the ‘chill out’ scene on Ibiza and on the airwaves Chris Coco - music with inner and outer space, perfect for that sunset moment. Next up, neither minimal nor dance, Lock occupies the space in between, the ambient calm of repetitiveness. A contemporary pairing from London, Ben Fehr & Liam Cutler pursue deep electronic sounds, modern textures alongside unconventional composition creating intensely rhythmic and melodic soundscapes. A hypnotic interlude, Finnish electro jazz pioneers RinneRadio’s trance inducing washes of sound meet Nordic coolness in exciting and unprecedented ways that evoke prime Brian Eno and late-period Miles Davis in equal measure. Music in a magic grotto - where the early gentle breaths of clarinet swirl out of a bubbling spring to be joined in rapture by divine notes which bounce around the cave and float to heaven - Yasmin is uplifting and truly breathtaking. Panoptican Blue then surrounds you in a halo of celestial wonder where the light glimpses and glints, the planets glide and glisten, and the music moves and marvel. Electronic duo Echaskech flirt with multiple influences ranging across techno, ambient, acid, classical and drum and bass, combining them into a unique and compelling amalgamation of sound. Afterhere partner up 80’s electronic pioneer Glenn Gregory with composer and vocalist Berenice Scott to create the following track Sepia –which moves through the spheres and bathes you in its light, its warmth, it’s majesty. It juxtaposes energy with a calming ambience, gliding effortlessly though tranquil lavish synths, sublime strings and hypnotic vocals. The penultimate track, Opdot’s Mollify is both mysterious and magnificent - a blanket of intriguing textures, movements, and soothing sounds shrouded in a musical mist. The key to Opdot’s quintessential sound is in the constant development of thematic material within classical structures and forms – the result, something utterly distinctive and quite extraordinary. And finally a glorious continuous mix of all ten tracks… released March 30, 2018
Tracklist: 01.Sker - Last Night in Bangkok (4:45) "I was in Thailand last summer and when I got home I sat down and wrote this track. My time out there, and other outside factors, played a big influence in the content and aesthetic of the track - it mixes a lot of the sounds and music that I heard there whilst away, along with the band-orientated music that I was listening to at the time". ‘Last Night In Bangkok’ is a new track by London based producer and artist, Sam Brown AKA Sker. Sam brings with him a fresh approach to music & production, focusing on creating otherworldly vibes, being open to experimentation, pushing the limits of what the artist can create. “For me, ambient music has broad boundaries and isn’t defined by its archetypical instruments, sounds or synths, but allows artistic freedom and invokes a space to think and reflect. Having grown up in a picturesque seaside town with a huge variety of environments - beaches, forests, city & countryside - that, in a way, has given me more varied inspiration and has in turn altered my perception of the way in which ‘ambient music’ should be perceived and produced” This is the follow up to ‘Burgundy’ which we released last year. Sker is currently busy in the studio making new music and has a new EP on the horizon. released April 20, 2018

Tracklist: 01.Belorusia - Toska (4:07) Belorusia is a Berlin-based musician and visual artist from Glasgow, Scotland. Upon moving to Berlin in 2012 the project began as a means of keeping a diary through sound and imagery. Since then it has evolved into an all-enveloping audiovisual project which will see its live debut in 2018. The sound is at once familiar yet distant, evoking atmospheric vistas and created using a combination of live recordings, electronic instruments and samples. The resulting compositions are multi-layered tapestries that reveal more with each listen. Belorusia draws inspiration from a wide range of genres, such as ambient (of course) to classical to shoegaze. For him Ambient music is about creating an imaginary world through the manipulation of sound in space. Vladimir Nabokov sums it up perfectly. “No single word in English renders all the shades of toska. At its deepest and most painful, it is a sensation of great spiritual anguish, often without any specific cause. At less morbid levels it is a dull ache of the soul, a longing with nothing to long for, a sick pining, a vague restlessness, mental throes, yearning. In particular cases it may be the desire for somebody of something specific, nostalgia, love-sickness. At the lowest level it grades into ennui, boredom." released May 4, 2018

Tracklist: 01.36 - Aphantasia (5:54) 36 is the alias of Dennis Huddleston, who has been a prolific and leading figure in the modern ambient scene for close to a decade. Beginning with his debut album Hypersona, he has been sharing his own highly emotive blend of electronic music, which has melted the hearts of music lovers around the globe. He has released his music on labels as diverse as A Strangely Isolated Place, Ultimae and Mystic & Quantum. He also runs his own label 3six Recordings, which he describes as a love affair with the vinyl format. The core of the 36 sound is a combination of warm melodies and widescreen atmospheres, that is never shy from the abstract, but one that remains highly accessible. It's dreamy, introspective midnight music, and the perfect soundtrack for your own strangely isolated place. “I recently discovered that a small group of people live without the ability to visualise things in their mind. This condition is known as Aphantasia. It got me thinking about the nature of how we listen to music. When most people listen to ambient music for example, they tend to imagine places, people, colours or memories... It's a genre which is often very easy to visualise, so to know that some people will never get to experience this is both sad and fascinating. I wrote this track exploring what it means to "see" music and whether sound alone is enough to make something beautiful.” The appeal of ambient music for 36 is the freedom it offers - not being locked down to strict BPM ranges or certain audio palettes can lead to some truly wonderful music. He cites as his musical references Aphex Twin, William Basinski, Boards of Canada, Tangerine Dream and The Future Sound of London. released May 18, 2018

Tracklist: 01.Joe Alexander Shepherd - Lost in Space (5:45) “’Lost In Space’ is one of the most ambient tracks I‘ve written to date. Taking influence from Thomas Newman’s beautifully executed piano-driven score for ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ I have tried to keep the music very simple, focusing on the main melodic piano motif throughout, gradually building with strings & various interweaving synth textures.” Joe Alexander Shepherd is a 25-year-old pianist & composer from York, England. He is a graduate of Paul McCartney’s acclaimed Academy of Music. He writes minimalist contemporary – classical music taking his influences from Olafur Arnalds, Michael Nyman, Thomas Newman and Ludovico Einaudi. A composer since the age of 15, he has a classical background, but is also a pop and electronic music fan who incorporates textural synths into his work. His music is incredibly emotional and developed – it’s not surprising that he has been asked to score ads for Land Rover, UEFA, RFU, England Rugby & Melvita and was recently nominated by BBC Introducing to attend a day at Abbey Road Studios, London with artists such as Mark Ronson, Calvin Harris and Labrinth. Joe performs live as a solo artist and has shows lined up in London. He also has an Ep ‘Time’ released via the Nettwerk Music Group. “Focusing on Ambient music has opened up my creative mindset to explore different atmospheric ambiences. The genre covers a vast array of sounds, allowing me the artistic freedom to indulge in various textures to mould a song into something unique, having my own footprint in today’s modern musical world.” released June 1, 2018

Tracklist: 01.Loner - Light Works (3:33) “In a world and city that can take as much as it gives, ambient music is a rare opportunity to float. it’s both sides of the mirror. The detail and the surround. ‘Lightworks’ I think of as stripped piano chords sent through the gentle hum of a street light” The great-nephew of seven organ-playing sisters, Loner / aka Geoff Smith has inherited a gift for playing keyboards and developed his gift into music that transports and transcends the everyday. In his earlier days, Loner would work only in solitude, earning him the hermitic title. However, the oxymoronic Loner has now written and performed with such artists as Dot Allison, Bomb the Bass, The Rakes, Sinead O Connor and Primal Scream. He creates music to watch the world by. He knows all about standing still, about listening, about putting the brakes on. It’s what he’s all about. With his haunting compositional skills, he embraces the dark side of life. Based in his studio in Clapton Hill his work has a sombre sobriety that paradoxically emits a fierce fantasist expressionism that must lie deep within his soul. A classical pianist since the age of 8 and tutored in New Orleans piano techniques in his teens, piano understandably makes up the backbone of his work. Yet electronic interference, fuzzy glitches, Binatone samples underpin the organic qualities of piano and sometimes acoustic guitar. “I take my musical cues from the constant stream of new faces, stories and the sense of life moving on around me. I’m in the middle standing still, watching and staying in one place.” released June 15, 2018

Tracklist: 01.RinneRadio - Zarkukselle (4:16) As ‘Zarkukselle’ proves, RinneRadio make music filled with serene melancholy, but never without a healthy dose of hopefulness. Here the bass clarinet in Zarukselle creates beautiful melodic patterns over the electroacoustic base texture of the track, with a distinctive Nordic air…
RinneRadio’s Tapani was part of a team of mad musical scientists in Finland in the late 90’s who were busy exploring the three-way interface between improvised music, electronic beats and ambient soundscapes.
Fans of the pioneering techno jazz group will be delighted to find the group following the path of Yasmine – here they return with their new track Zarkukselle ("For Zarkus" in English), a homage to the late Zarkus Poussa, percussionist with the group from 1999 until 2002.
On ‘Zarkukselle’, the core of Rinne’s bass clarinet, co-producer Konsta Mikkonen’s electronics and Juuso Hannukainebn’s percussion are added to by the talents of famous Finnish violinist Pekka Kuusisto together with young and talented artists Minka Kuustonen and Lauri Wuolio. released June 29, 2018

Tracklist: 01.Chris Coco - Saturday's Child (3:27) ‘Saturday’s Child’ is a light, floating feeling featuring the wonderful Jo Silverston on cello and some night time wildlife recorded in the countryside in Ibiza. It has a beautiful sense of movement and suspense. This is the second track by Chris Coco to be released by Ambient Zone from a collection of eight tunes based around the Buddhist days of the week (there are two for Wednesday). Earlier this year Chris worked on the soundtrack for a UK film called Obey, a love story set around the London Riots. It’s been shown at Tribeca and Edinburgh film festivals and will be out early 2019. He has just finished a summer residency at Hostal La Torre in Ibiza and will be playing for Xmas/New Year at Karma Beach in Bali. There will be a new album, Indigo, coming out first in Japan in early 2019. “In the current climate where nothing means what it says, where communication is general in angry online soundbites, where the real issues that affect us all (like climate change) are being ignored by the people in power, actually, ridiculously, ambient music is more important than ever. This music invites you to take some time, give yourself some space, let go a little and maybe, just maybe, in that space, while the music plays, find yourself, have an idea, a moment of clarity, a moment of peace. Yes, whisper it, I know, I’m naive and stupid but I still think that music can help change the world!” released November 16, 2018

Tracklist: 01.Hiroshi Ebina - Bergen (4:29) 24Bit Hiroshi Ebina is a sound artist, gagaku musician and photographer originally from Japan, currently living in New York. “‘Bergen’ came about in one morning in early spring, when I was experimenting with my modular synth. The melody line I improvised on my lap harp was so beautiful that I started recording it. This was the beginning from which everything else flowed”. He studied traditional gagaku instruments, hichiriki and biwa, and dance under the guidance of musicians from the Imperial Household Agency. His music explores scenic sounds using modular synthesizer and acoustic instruments, as well as found objects and field recordings. Serendipity is a quintessential part of his unique soundscapes as they incorporate sounds and and silences that emerge and disappear as though by chance Hiroshi says his compositional process is like spreading dots and lines on a white paper and give them some orders. Then those lines and dots start showing some shapes. For him, randomness is the most notable characteristic of so-called ‘ambient music.’ It’s not really about being accurate about rhythm or pitch. It’s not just about drone and reverb either. He is more concerned with texture, the spaces between each note, and how it feels to his ears. released November 30, 2018

Together they write beautiful, contemporary, engaging and bewitching music. The majestic ‘Sepia’ was released last year and they have been working on some new instrumental ambient tracks for The Ambient Zone. Tracklist: 01.ILUITEQ - No Longer Know (Follow The Light Mix) (5:53) 02.ILUITEQ - No Longer Know (Follow The Light Mix / Edit) (4:13) “This version of “No Longer Know” blends ethereal pads with minimal electronic beats and ethnic percussion. I feel particularly attached to this tune because it marked the beginning of my music collaboration with Andrea Bellucci, renowned musician of the Italian experimental scene”. In 2018, Sergio Calzoni founded the ambient combo ILUITEQ, together with Andrea Bellucci. The music journey started at the beginning of the ’90s with the dark-wave project Alma Mater. Afterwards, he founded the band Act Noir, releasing two albums of electro-trip-rock music and playing live as opening act for John Foxx and Clan Of Xymox. The new millennium marked the beginning of his musical collaboration with Gianni Pedretti and his experimental-songwriter project Colloquio, releasing three albums and playing live all over Italy. With an ever-growing fascination for experimental soundscapes, in 2012 Sergio gave birth to his solo project Orghanon, with the purpose to explore the many facets of ambient music. Thanks to Orghanon, Sergio had the opportunity to provide soundtracks for movies and theatre performances. The original version of this track is included on the album “Soundtracks For Winter Departures”. “Ambient music is a form of meditation, through which we can deeply connect to our inner self. We live in a world where spirituality and inner peace are traded for an insane, endless economic growth. Human beings are born for higher purposes and ambient music can be a source of inspiration to see things from a different perspective”. released February 22, 2019
Tracklist: 01.Echaskech - Hyphae (5:12) 24Bit “Hyphae is an ode to fungi and the mycorrhizal network or 'fungi internet' that connects individual plants together via hypha, transferring nutrients and information between each other. These underground networks are amazing - enabling the boosting of plant immune systems or killing of unwelcome plants by spreading toxic chemicals across the network. It's amazing what's going on underneath us all!” Echaskech are a London based electronic act who draw on numerous influences ranging across techno, ambient, acid, IDM, classical and drum and bass, combining them into a unique and compelling amalgamation of sound. With three albums and a number of EPs released on Just Music alongside diverse acts such as Jon Hopkins, Leo Abrahams, Marconi Union and Will Dutta, Echaskech have seen fantastic radio support from BBC 6 Music and great critical acclaim across a range of press including Mojo, Drowned in Sound, The Crack, The Skinny and The Irish Times. “Brian Eno sums up the Ambient genre perfectly with the statement: “Ambient music allows many different types of attention.” We love that you can choose where to place yourself within ambient music. Producing ambient music holds equally as exciting possibilities – a chance to conjure sounds and atmospheres from memories, emotions or field recordings and where traditional ‘rules’ and structures around making music can be discarded.” released March 1, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Rob Lewis - Roots (Ambient Zone Mix) (3:36) 02.Rob Lewis - Roots (Ambient Zone Piano) (2:50) 24Bit “My passion for ambient music stems from the notion that compositions create an atmosphere or feeling that connects with people on many levels. Its diverse soundscape makes all musical styles relevant, it is just a matter of fusing the preferred elements together”
Rob Lewis is a composer, producer and cellist hailing from London.
His compositions are created in one take using a cello, simple effects and a loop pedal; all manipulated using expression pedals. Loops are kept dynamic by changing the playback direction of the recorded material whilst adding new textures using unique sounds on the cello. Each composition is written with the idea of mixing it completely live, and as a result, no track ever sounds the same twice, the resulting sound crossing the boundaries of contemporary classical and experimental electronic. His debut solo album ‘Momentum’, is a collection of ten stunning unique tracks inspired by nature humanity and the constant strife between the two. Rob has created a special mix of ‘Roots’ for The Ambient Zone and also a beautiful piano version of the same track. “Roots references life beneath the surface of the earth. It refers to the foundations of our planet and the way in which we interact with it. A percussive loop underpins the composition, providing a bed for harmonies to weave around a low cello drone.”
As a composer Rob has worked on a variety of high-profile projects for TV, scoring numerous documentaries, as well as collaborating with artists such as Noel Gallagher, SBTRKT and Beardyman and David Holmes.
His musical references and similarities relate to Steve Reich, Nils Frahm, Arvo Part and Berio. released March 15, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Marconi Union - Weightless (253 Edit) (4:14) 24Bit Widely considered to be the most relaxing track in the world - Neuroscience says listening to ‘Weightless’ reduces anxiety by up to 65%
“Marconi Union are amongst today's most talented musicians” Sunday Times “Marconi Union have steadily released albums of pristine, clinical electronic music over the last decade... continuing to refine their art in minimalist fashion and placing MU firmly in the vanguard of acts making atmospheric, ambient music” - Music OMH “The world's most relaxing song” Time Magazine (Best Inventions of the Year) “One of the most popular ambient tracks of all time” Yahoo “Scientifically proven to bring people’s pulse rates down’ Livestrong.com Weightless (253 Edit) is a new 4 minute edit of this iconic track from UK band Marconi Union The original 8 minute version of ‘Weightless’ by Marconi Union, released by Just Music, tops a scientific list of tracks as the most relaxing piece of music of all time, to date achieving worldwide acclaim and more than 150 million streams worldwide. Marconi Union are widely considered to be one of the leading ambient acts in the world, continuously appearing in many lists as the most important contemporary ambient artists around today, with 9 studio albums released over the last 15 years, and a new 10th album to be released later this year. ‘Weightless’ was originally created when Marconi Union were asked to write a piece of relaxing music in consultation with a leading sound therapist. When ‘Weightless’ was tested, scientists reported that their research indicated that the music slowed the heart rate, reduced blood pressure and decreased levels of cortisol, a steroid hormone that is released in response to stress. Participants who listened to the song experienced a 65% reduction in overall anxiety and their resting heart rates were brought to a level 35% lower than their usual physiological resting rates. It is a beautiful combination of arranged harmonies, rhythms and bass lines featuring guitar, piano and electronic samples of natural soundscapes. It works by using specific rhythms, tones, frequencies and intervals to relax the listener using a process known as ‘entrainment’ taking the listener into a deep state of calm.
The phenomenal success of the original 8 minute ‘Weightless’ track to date includes:- No 1. Official Billboard New Age Songs Charts for well over 1 year
Top 5. Official Billboard New Age Songs Charts for 124 weeks
More than 60 million You Tube (Official Videos) views
More than 55.25 million Spotify streams
More than 17 million iTunes streams
More than ¼ million iTunes downloads Consistently topping the Amazon Ambient Music Bestsellers lists
The story has been picked up virally so far by CBS News, Yahoo, Livestrong.com. Huffington Post, Fox News, Wake Up World, Essence.com. Boots, Tesco and to name but a few and literally hundreds of other websites, TV, Radio and Magazines worldwide. Marconi Union went on to record an album - Weightless (Ambient Transmissions Vol 2) which includes the original Weightless track together with five more tracks, the latter derived from the ideas of the former, simply entitled Part 1 to Part 6. The album has charted in the iTunes Electronic Charts, the Billboard New Age Albums charts and the UK Independent Albums Chart In response to public demand they have also created a 30 minute and a 10 hour version. “Sleepless nights could be a thing of the past thanks to Marconi Union. Tracklist: 01.Construction - Talk (RinneRadio Remix) (6:20) 24Bit “We have been huge fans of RinneRadio from Rok to their latest tracks on The Ambient Zone. The remix of Talk from our debut EP took the track in a surprising direction pairing bass clarinet and modular with our voice. It morphed into a strange ambient song, a seductive roadtrip soundscape.” Construction is a collaboration between Nadya Peek and Marko Ahtisaari who met at MIT while fabricating using a large CNC mill! Though occupied during the day at MIT they started improvising with a seaboard and a bass in the evening. Soon they started adding drum machines, synthesizers, vocals, playing shows, and working with producer Pat Dillett at Reservoir Studios NYC. Their debut EP Set was released last year and the band has recently played around Sonar+D, TED, MMOMA, HDW, and Our Festival. Besides music, Construction also engage in whatever other creative endeavours they find, especially if they come with good snacks…. “Down with attention hegemony and narrative expectations! We don’t need you to listen, we are just trying to offer a mood. We like it when music sounds like nostalgia, or memory, a place, or a speed. And yes, we’ve lived in Thursday Afternoon for many months.” They say that they slept through enough minimal Berlin techno and stayed up through Max Richter's Sleep and come from a place steeped in Sibelius with a childhood of triphop and a few pretentious teenage riot years of free jazz to bring you their unique sound….. released March 29, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Unearth Noise - Disappearing (6:57) “Disappearing is a piece that grew essentially out of a feeling of loss for a friend. To me, it carries reverent and funereal vibrations, like an offering. There are slight hints of Asian modes which are produced using backwards slide guitar accompanied by vocal drones and other electronics. The piece is meant to be meditative and reflective. My hope is that the listener will be transported to some personal memory garden via this soundscape”. Unearth Noise is the project of Roger Berkowitz, and experimental musician from New Jersey. The aim of this project is to create an alternate universe in sound - an audible representation of a reality beyond the everyday veil. To this end, he seeks to remove himself from the compositional process, or rather to collaborate with the forces which make themselves present during a recording session. In some respects, he thinks of this process as a ritual or seance. His task is to bring these forces into focus, and present them, respectfully, in a musical form. The resulting "compositions" may at times be non-linear, atonal, and/or arhythmic. Remnants of his aesthetic may also be present. These draw primarily from early experimental music, ritual and world music, as well as more familiar musics which inspired him in his youth. Ultimately, his hope is that the music he produces in collaboration with these otherworldly forces resonates within the (soul) (consciousness) of the listener, revealing something infinite and intangible, beyond the confines of time and space. His primary influences in terms of experimental music are Brian Eno, John Cage, Harry Partch, Glenn Branca, and Indian classical musicians such as Ravi Shankar and Ram Narayan, as well as other world musicians. “I first heard the term ambient music via Brian Eno. I found his soundscapes to be transportive. I don't consider myself to be an "ambient artist", although there are certainly aspects of this concept and aesthetic within Unearth Noise such as drones, slowly developing soundscapes, etc. Overall the primary commonality between what I do and ambient music is the concept of trance, or transcending the physical dimension via sound.” released April 5, 2019

Mixed with tribal drumming and an almost melancholic guitar melody. It's a journey with struggles but you know that everything will be alright in the end. Mercury is in only retrograde after all.” Paw Paw is the nom de plume of Eston Lathrop, Denver, Colorado based experimentalist, drummer, and producer. Paw Paw has taken many forms over the years, various instrumentations and accompaniment. However, always with a vibe of Kosmische music and its roots firmly planted in the earth's soil. An electro-tribal gaze into the future's shimmering horizon. Or perhaps the type of foggy malaise ridden soundscapes conjure memories of deep wooded foot paths and the mind following vivid dream sessions. Tracklist: 01.Odeko - The Dove From Above (4:17) 24Bit “Writing this track has been a lesson in restraint, for the better. Initially, I had in mind something that grew grander and louder from a single tonal seed. In practice, however, there came a point in the track where something snapped and it became something it shouldn't have been. On a seismograph, imagine plates splitting in place of a light murmur. The creative process behind this track has been me trying to control myself.” Odeko is based in South-West England but originally from South Wales. He makes electronic, computer-based music but utilizes recorded sounds from whatever he can capture. He tries to augment one with the other, or not, and vice-versa. He enjoys being self-indulgent and forcing together different aspects and angles from the myriad world of music. He says it's a good way to keep things fun and on rare occasions it can yield something interesting! “I find it hard to pin down exactly what ambient music is, and but it's easy to spot it in the wild. The most prominent quality for me is that it takes me away from my current surrounds and for a brief time I’m lost. Generally, music from most genres, those in a traditional sense at least, hold my attention and tend to give an overt presence which never falls to the background. However with ambient music, whether it’s the background theme of the PS4 home screen, a selected piece of work or even incidental sound in the environment, the same response occurs. To be removed from your surroundings by something that can almost go unnoticed is a magical feeling once realised, but also a bit sad because you don’t know when you’ll go there next.” released April 26, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Bu.Re_ - Ache:mend (4:56) 24Bit “Ache:mend is the dance between health and sickness. Intertwined dissonance in waves of dark and undulating manipulated piano with moments of consonance in clarity and hopeful vocals. The two move in sparseness until they reach a point of peace.” bu.re_ is a producer hailing from Los Angeles, with his eyes and ears set on the world. His songs feature field recordings of ambience from various countries, which he uses as a foundation around which he builds melodic structures around from droning, reverb-laden instruments. Much of his music is a quelling, gently-layered soundscape - the product of bu.re_ working with what he feels fundamental to construct evocative sonic experiences with a healthy amount of space. His debut e.p. ‘Passing Glances’ was a sonic journal of his experiences while living in Japan for a year, travelling around with his Tascam Dr 100 Mk ii recording whatever sounds caught his ear. Each song features sounds recorded in the city after which it is named. For bu.re_ambient music is a form of catharsis. Whether it be listening or producing, there is something about it that allows him to uncoil and suspend any pressing thoughts. He says he can push aside the past and future, and float in the present. He has grown especially fond of more temporal ambient - the movement seems more naturally to him than following a set tempo, that free, wavering progression feels more human. released May 3, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Faru - When We Follow (6:35) 24Bit “When we follow – meaning to move or travel behind, in a sense being guided. A train rides through cloud-darkness. Everything is undeveloped and dark. As time passes, the situation remains serious and difficult, chaos building up. Everything is in motion, despite the danger that exists, but you have a guiding hand, a helper to deal with the chaos. Suddenly there is a turn. This event is so sudden, that it feels wrong, but with time it offers relief. The chaos returns to normal conditions.” Faru is a Berlin-based musician and designer, born in Bonn, Germany. He has been releasing Drone and Ambient music since 2016. His works explore movements of nature, noise and harmonics and his music has been described as a natural orchestra in a dream-like manner. Faru says that his musical references are Biosphere, ASC and Donato Dozzy. “In the space created by ambient music imagination is moving, thoughts are free. Nothing is forced.“ released June 14, 2019

But unless you use this knowledge in the right places, this knowledge that you have is no longer knowledgeable. Ambient music, for me, gives me the knowledge that I can always turn to when I need to power to carry on” As well as remixing for the likes of James Lavelle’s Unkle Project, DJ/producer Paul Gribby AKA Still-Life has been busy carving a reputation in recent years with a steady flow of electronic music productions that have seen Paul sign and release with the iconic Global Underground label, Baile Muzik, Low Rec and Blue Park Record as well as signing tracks to Cafe Mambo, Cafe Del Mar and Denmark’s Stella-Polaris world wide compilations. He was highly accredited from Ben Hoo for his recent guest mix for Ben Hoo’s “We Are Night People” and most recently signing to Just Music’s The Ambient Still-Life’s next few releases will continue down the ambient, minimal darker side of electronic music. Alongside hosting his own monthly record label radio show, Watercolour Records on Frisky Radio and guest sets all over the UK including Rough Trade Records, Paul has also performed at festivals such as Glastonbury, Bestival, Strawberry Fields Festival and Stella-Polaris in Denmark. released June 14, 2019

Some people may say that those places are completely gone since the Tsunami. But we know it’s not true. There are beautiful new things born every day in the place where it has lost everything in the past, and I want you to know it.” Nami Sato grew up in Sendai – a small town on the coast side of Japan. In 2011, Great East Japan Earthquake, a Tsunami washed out many towns. Her hometown, Arahama, was one of them. Ever since, she has made music in an attempt to create “scenery, fragrance and a special holy place in mind” for anyone who listens to her songs. In summer of 2017, Public Cultural Foundation in Sendai city organized the project to report the presence of the affected area. These tracks are created while she attended the local events herself. “When the tsunami struck, my parents were at work out of town. I managed to avoid the direct hit too as I was in my University of Arts in Yamagata City (a mountainous town 80km away from Arahama) but I felt a very strong tremor and all the infrastructure was down completely for several days. My grandfather was in Arahama when it happened. We found his body in a mountain of rubble and mud about a week after the disaster. Our family dog I grew up with like a sibling was at my parent’s house when it struck, and after 8 years, we still haven’t found his body. I understand what happened to us is a tragedy. However, predominantly, these experiences are part of my personal life experience. I accept the reality of what happened as is, rather than being in despair. “Making music” was at the heart of that process of acceptance. I would like to share this universal fact, that these personal life events always have impact on all artists and musicians work, including myself.” Nami’s atmospheric suites inspire both calmness and wonder. With gorgeous layerings of synth, piano, guitar, field recordings and more, her songs recreate our world as much as they reimagine it. The title of each of these songs is the name of the area where the field recordings were carried out. Nami visited those 5 areas with her microphone and focused on capturing the sound of local festivals of affected areas and disaster relief events. She created collages of sound by extracting and using the most personally memorable part of the recording. This was her attempt to reconstruct all of the things lost including town, people and scenery in the listeners mind through music. When not working as a composer for television and short films, she contributes to local art projects and works on independent albums. Her first independent album ‘In spring at the north wasteland’ was released in 2011 as a part of the fundraising project to support orphans of the Tsunami. In 2018, she qualified for the Red Bull Music Academy in Berlin as a solo ambient musician. Her music performance brought many of her listeners to tears. Some say ‘she touched our soul with her sound’. “If time is on a linear line that leads to the future, I personally feels like that line was split abruptly on 11th of March 2011. It almost feels like we slipped into a parallel world and cannot find the way back home. This unusual feeling is something I can share with other refugees who suffered the disaster and the radiation leak. We cannot retrieve what we lost. This strange discomfort will last a lifetime but our lives go on. There are people there and something new is born every day in this little town 300km away from Tokyo, on a small island country that is on the edge of the world map. It makes me really happy and content to show it to the listeners through my music.” Her favourite musicians are Brian Eno, Helios, Hammock, Bon Iver, Sigur Rós, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Hikaru Utada, Masakatsu Takagi, Ryuichi Sakamoto and her music has drawn comparisons to Yoshi Horikawa. “Ambient music is like a little boat. It brings us to a holy part of your mind where you keep your precious memory and scenery.” released June 28, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Bengalfuel - Gryphon (4:21) “Gryphon is a new piece exploring a beautiful daydream about a mythological creature: half lion, half eagle. The music is its theme, both soaring and grounded with majesty.” Bengalfuel is the audio-visual project of Joe LiTrenta and Dentist. They have released ambient electronic music on labels such as Hibernate Recordings and Resting Bells as well as many self-released digital EPs and albums with accompanying videos. The music is a combination of their sensibilities as solo artists typified by soft synthesizer pads sometimes with drum loops of many different styles of electronic music and vocals or vocal samples. “Ambient music for me is the allowing of imagination in a musical sense, rather than the definition of notes. This provides a sonic atmosphere for the areas still being explored; cerebral, vibrational places that are unknown. It’s also a lovely companion for meditation.” With their more ‘pure’ ambient tracks musical comparisons have been made to Gas, Celer and Marconi Union. When referring to their more electronic, beat-driven tracks then similarities have been drawn to Ceephax and Aphex Twin. released July 12, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Neil Foster - Shine (7:18) 24Bit "'Shine' is a nature song without words, an attempt to share something of the way I feel when light breaks through summer clouds and dances on water.” Neil Foster is a musician and producer based in Belfast, with a background as a session musician and music therapist. Late in 2016, he began exploring expansive, elemental and intimate sonic spaces using electronic production techniques. These experiments led to his debut album ‘Hiraeth’ which was released in October 2018. Neil is interested in music as a meditation and a means of growth which harmonises with and reflects nature. His music explores the borders between lyrical human expression and machine-based production across ambient and classical landscapes, with wider influences from world music, experimental electronica and medieval chant. Neil’s sonic creations are rooted in a Taoist philosophy in which grounded contemplation, presence and dreaming are both the path and the destination. In the summer of 2018, Neil returned from a camping trip to the North West of Ireland feeling fresh and inspired. He sat down and improvised the core idea, and later began to interweave found sounds that he had collected on his journey. He also experimented with layers of texture, ambience and colour, editing and refining until the balance and energy felt right: “‘Shine’ expresses something of the bright, playful energy I felt out there under those wild Atlantic skies. “ Neil is a founder member of Vault Artists, a multidisciplinary community of artists based in Belfast. Following the production of ‘Shine’ for The Ambient Zone, Neil is working on a new album due for release in the Autumn of 2019. “Ambient music is about organic, evolving sound that can hold you, dissolve you, and carry you home. It communicates natural forms and spaces which can be familiar or challenging, expansive or intimate. Ambient music speaks to you with a listening heart, draws alongside and invites you closer without making demands.” Neil’s musical influences are many and varied. They include Arvo Part, Kiasmos, Jean Sibelius, Steve Reich, John Dowland, Toumani Diabate, Steve Hauschild, Rachmaninoff, Brian Eno, Hauschka, Keith Jarret, Johann Johansson and The Portico Quartet. released July 12, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Geist - Tranquility Base (4:57) 24Bit “Tranquility Base is a transporting piece that takes the listener to another space. With the lunar landings we experienced a different perspective on where we live, no less real but one that changes our understanding of the world around us. This track invokes the change of perspective that the world gained 50 years ago. Frequencies, harmonies and rhythm can subtly change your perception of time and space. Here’s our way of putting you into orbit.” Justin Adams: guitarist, producer and composer. Creator of wonders with Robert Plant, in whose band, the aptly named Sensational Space Shifters, he plays. Previously guitarist with bass maestro Jah Wobble, he produced two albums with Tuareg desert blues giants Tinariwen which remain world music landmarks. His recent solo album Ribbons and a soundtrack album, Burning Men, explored musical abstraction with highly atmospheric and richly textural pieces. For more than a decade his records have been made in partnership with sound engineer and mixer Tim Oliver, who spent his formative years in Manchester working with the likes of The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and New Order. He’s now based at Real World Studios in Wiltshire, UK and works with artists as diverse as Ludovico Einaudi and Sinead O’Connor. Together they are Geist. “Just as we don’t always want to see a picture full of incident, detail and structure, sometimes it’s best to just see colour or texture, so we don’t always want our listening to be too busy or to take us on over familiar paths. This is the function of ambient Music: to create a musical space where we can breathe and dream.” Their musical references and similarities would seem to be to Brian Eno, Alva Noto, Ludovico Einaudi, Jon Hopkins, Plaid, Bochum Welt and Boards of Canada. released July 19, 2019

Tracklist: 01.stanleystanley - palace of steam (4:41) 02.stanleystanley - you've come this far (2:44) 03.stanleystanley - sung from a different hymn sheet (3:05) 04.stanleystanley - today was too much (2:44) 05.stanleystanley - beside myself (and looking in) (2:30) 24Bit “I started writing ambient music as stanleystanley almost three years ago. Having previously been involved in various bands and projects, I find composing ambient music makes me more creative, as it allows me to discard conventional song structures when combining beatless soundscapes with emotive melodies.” Jordan Russell-Hall found himself experimenting with form and structure when writing the EP and tried to dismiss any notions of falling into old composing habits. This is also the first release of his in which he has tried pairing saturated electronic sounds with more conventional acoustic instruments such as harps and bass guitars. Though it was not his intention from the beginning, these tracks deal with some deeply personal themes and he is pleased with how they have come together. One of his favourite tracks on the EP is palace of steam which came about whilst experimenting with the arpeggiator function on one of his synths on a foggy afternoon. He found the chord progression to be quite majestic and soaring with its ascending topline and descending bass parts. “For some reason, I had the imagery of going for a walk on a similarly foggy afternoon and encountering a desolate palace that only exists within the mist.” Another favourite track is beside myself (and looking in), written about those occasions he has felt as though he is watching himself have conversations with others and not in control of his actions. “When you feel like more of a spectator than a participant. Though this happens fairly often for me and nothing bad cames of it, it can be quite a disconcerting experience.” Stanleystanley’s debut EP ’in light of everything’ was released on Parnell Supply Co (Glasgow) and it was influenced by towering architecture in his local area of Leith and seeking positivity in the surroundings. ‘occipita’, his most recent release, is all about trying to find solace and true comfort through inconspicuous chronic pains. The EP was released through Terminal Dream (Moscow, Russia) and it experimented with trance melodies and structures while combining them with melancholic, ambient tones. He has also soundtracked the Boundaries 0.1 by DelvesIntoHollis art exhibition (Edinburgh, 2017) and a track of his, ‘october’ was included on the 2018 label sampler for Octo Trax (Glasgow, 2018). “For me, Ambient Music is more than just background music. I find myself listening on a daily basis in order to decompress after long days and stressful times. I also feel that it is one of the most interesting and creative types of music around at the moment as you can often find compositions that are both emotive and challenging.” When writing this EP Jordan found himself drawing influences from recent releases by H.Takahashi, Oneohtrix Point Never and Yamaneko as well as the output from electronic labels such as New Atlantis and Not Not Fun. released July 26, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Warmth - Monsoon (4:34) “'Monsoon' follows the minimalist aesthetic of 'Parallel'. Just three ambient layers with merging sounds and some field recordings and low-end lines. “ Warmth is one of the projects of Agustín Mena, an ambient producer based in Valencia, on Spain’s Mediterranean coast. He also runs the labels Archives and Faint and works under the side project SVLBRD, which is focused on ambient-techno. Agustin often hears about the music he creates and about ambient music in general that it is something to have on in the background or even something to ‘sleep’ to. Though he respects any opinion, it’s not at all what ambient music is about for him at. He thinks that ambient music should be listened to properly, with even more attention than to any other form of music, so that the listener is able to enjoy and capture every last detail. “It’s about generating the emotions. I mean, the music that moves me as a listener is the one that makes me feel something. Not necessarily something pleasant, but something that moves me inside and invites me to forget everything and immerse myself in it.” Agustin says that the music of Boards of Canada caused a great impact on him when he first heard it and from there he discovered similar artists such as James Holden and Border Community. released August 9, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Chris Coco - Wednesday's Child (5:30) 24Bit “Wednesday’s Child is a track of two halves, it started as two versions of a similar theme then, after a little A&R intervention from TAZ head John, ended up as one much better whole. If it’s about anything I guess it’s that hole in the middle of the week, halfway from somewhere to somewhere else, but not anywhere in particular, becalmed.” This is the third track by Chris Coco to be released by Ambient Zone from a collection of eight tunes based around the Buddhist days of the week. Chris is a tastemaker, DJ, broadcaster, producer, music curator, musician and journalist. He has been working as a DJ since the acid house explosion of the late 80s. He has edited DJ magazine, worked for BBC Radio 1 on the after-hours show The Blue Room. He has made artist albums for Warp and Distinctive Records. He has made compilations for Playboy, Ministry of Sound, EMI Classical and Trojan Records. His music has appeared on many compilations including the big ones, Cafe Del Mar and Hotel Costes and has been featured Sex And The City, Nip Tuck, House and many other TV shows. He currently broadcasts and syndicates a weekly electronic music radio show called Melodica and runs his label, Melodica Recordings, out of his studio/office in London. His radio show is growing from its online home on Mixcloud to include broadcasts in cities from Melbourne to Istanbul to Chicago. The Guardian called it “the hazy, lazy sound of the summer”. Yes, whisper it, I know, I’m naive and stupid but I still think that music can help change the world!” released August 9, 2019

Having just released his jazz fuelled, club-ready, Bradley Zero (Rhythm Section/NTS) endorsed, EP ’The Ghost’ on his own label, Orphan Records, he makes his Ambient Zone debut with an antithetical follow-up which he recorded west of Seattle in Hood Canal, Washington. The ‘Hood Canal’ EP features an original track by Seattle native, K. Leimer (RVNG ITL) which sits between four rain-soaked odes to the stillness of the western peninsula. Hood Canal is a fjord surrounded by beautiful mountains and luscious trees. The 5 tracks on the EP pay homage to the nature and the clarity of mind leaving the city can bring. Taking his whole studio back and forth to Hood Canal from Seattle every weekend only served to emphasize the calm found on the EP, from the percussive synths and harmonics in ‘Project Jellybean’, to the hypnotic piano arpeggios of ‘2012’, the EP urges the listener to respect time and rumination. The EP draws comparison to music from K. Leimer, Trentemöller, Fennesz and Jon Hopkins. released September 6, 2019

This pure computer music is always recorded as a live performance - I start in one configuration and through a process of poking and stroking the machines, and listening to how they respond, we end up in an entirely different sector of the soundscape. This journey was re-trod in altogether different slippers for a performance piece with my collaborator Sophie Seita, who trances out with hyperacademic text the same way I use sound - together we wove a multi-sensory tonic for the nervous system to score an emotive reading of Karl Marx's astrological birth chart.” Rhodri Karim pka Uther Moads is an undisciplined multi-disciplinary artist-activist working to undermine consensus reality with sensuality, self-defeating behaviour and a friendly relationship with the occult. His work covers the domains of sound, performance, software, organising and therapeutic practice. As a practising animist he uses technology less as a tool, choosing to engage instead in a conversation with technological collaborators. As a composer and sound designer, this means working in a trance state to facilitate improvisational dialogue with instruments, recordings and their spectral inhabitants. The black sun radiates its NO for life to push against with its WHY NOT? ‘Bowls’ begins the task of reversing this process, the warm and silky firmament the backdrop for an eternal sunset, becoming ever brighter as every pinprick sun bursts into spontaneous supernovae, overloading the receivers in a joyous snowblindness / ecstatic overload. We find the narrator drifting in space without craft or protection, slowly precessing around a non-existent axis, cascading in a fibonacci spiral into a wormhole that leads ever inwards, ever onwards. “Journeying is a word that I use to describe the experience of deep listening, and in journeying we throw a lasso around the wandering of the mind and ride it off into the transpersonal sunset. To be moved by sound, to give voice to the formless, to visit astral relatives that we never knew we had – that is the joy of journeying with sound. Unlike Brian Eno I think ambient should be listened to at high volume, or at least this applies to drone. To explain drone I often refer to it as "hard ambient". Non-negotiable music that exerts its own hypnotic pull on the willing, that lets emotion hang mid air and spill out of the confines of form. Ambient is a gesture, the kind of soft and tentative impulse humanity must remember.”
Rhodri credits Jimmy Edgar with anointing him with the spirit of erotic glitch. Tim Hecker for his first moment weeping openly to recorded music, and Massive Attack for a space in which he says he can regularly weep openly at live gigs. When he was 15 he sat down and listened to Richard D James' entire Analord series of EPs and his life was changed forever – he found the deep and abiding emotion in dance music, the humanity in repetition and atonality. He credits Biosphere for the suspense and suspended meaning and his friends and collaborators, Antidröm, Adi and more. released November 1, 2019

A pulsing 4x4 kick pattern and pumping compression drive the modulating, rich synth textures.” This is an edit of the lead track from the forthcoming EP – Earth – from Philadelphia-based artist, Starkey. A leader of “Street Bass,” which combines elements of hip-hop, grime and dubstep, Starkey creates different dimensions in his music with an ingenious complexity that separates him from other artists. Notably, one of the first producers to bring the sound of grime to the United States, Starkey’s richly textured production style, classical music background and refined music engineering has earned him a global fan-base as a true inventor of sound. “His music's so emotionally evocative, even when it's wordless” Pitchfork Commended from around the world, Starkey’s body of work continues to compile stunning originality and imaginative production flair. From producer to singer to the co-owner of the prominent record labels Seclusiasis, Slit Jockey and the aforementioned NOREMIXES, Starkey is an unstoppable force renovating the sounds of electronic music. “I like to think about the term Ambient Music a little differently than others; it’s not necessarily defined by any specific musical idea, or lack of rhythm, but more an attitude in structure and composition. Tracklist: 01.Knivtid - Halves and Doubles (5:03) 24Bit ”Halves and doubles” has a more uplifting feel than most music that I have been making lately, yet it has that melancholic touch that I usually strive after. The track itself was made during a hectic weekend during the spring of 2019, especially for The Ambient Zone.” Knivtid is a Stockholm based musician creating minimalistic electronic and electroacoustic music that sometimes borders on ambient and pop.
He often intentionally limits his palette, tonally and rhythmically, believing that each sound should exist in its own right. His debut EP was released on London based label ACR in 2017 followed by a full-length album, ”Skogarna är redan svarta” on Swedish label Purlieu Recordings the year after. 2019 saw a self-released introspective EP named ”Spiritism”, where each composition focused on heavily on only one or two instruments. All music is recorded in his home studio, largely consisting of home-built synthesizers and effects.
Halves and doubles is a quite minimalistic yet melodic and uplifting piece mixing sampled elements, FM synthesis with guitar and bass.
For Knivtid, ambient music is about small movements and what happens in between the notes. His musical inspiration comes many sources including 70’s ambient artists and jazz but mostly new music. He loves Kara-Lis Coverdale, Sarah Davachi, Andreas Tilliander and Grouper. released November 1, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Digitonal - Fourchords (4:30) 24Bit “Fourchords was written on a warm summer day in 2019 with a single synth, a piano and some effects. It was conceived as an exercise in restraint and expression to explore how a single musical element could evolve organically. It’s about slowing down and exploring a single thought, being plain about what it truly is.” Digitonal are a London, UK based band who have been working at the intersection of ambient electronica, melodic IDM and neo-classical minimalism since 1997. “While the rest of the world spent the naughties lurching from one musical fad to the next, Digitonal quietly created some of the most beautifully constructed art of the decade.” - MusicOHM review of Be Still my Bleeping Heart They have recorded for Toytronic, Just Music, The Ambient Zone, Neo Ouija and Cactus Island and have been called upon to remix the likes of Max Richter, Kelli Ali, B12 and labelmates Marconi Union. They have played live across the UK, Europe and the US and have been critically acclaimed for their expressive performances of great range and beauty. Digitonal are so busy all the time, but growing older has brought an appreciation of the calm that focussing on a single element can bring. “How many things go unexplored to their fullness because I’m too eager to move onto the next part?” This piece was very specifically influenced by r beny and the way in which a simple idea can evolve gradually over time. There are shades of Loscil and Marcus Fischer in there as well. “Ambient music has become more and more important to me as a way of bringing quiet to my headspace. Far from being a background element, I find that it has as much power to immerse you as busy, noisy and demanding music. As a producer, it allows you to simplify your process and sharpen up what you’re expressing to a far greater degree than the music I produce which requires more structure.” released November 15, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Audioraft - Smithereens (4:22) 24Bit “In 2016 I renovated a vintage Airstream trailer and decided it would make a great space to work! I set up a small modular studio and recorded hours of jams - occasionally something good would surface. Smithereens is a shapeshifting modular jam in slo–mo with added textures and piano which I then detuned to give it a gentle feel which revealed hidden artefacts and details, smaller particles” As far back as he can remember Jonny Bull, aka Audioraft, was mesmerised by music and learned to play guitar listening to Led Zeppelin and the Beatles. He didn't get on with school so when skateboarding arrived in London, that and music became his life, until a close encounter with an EMS VCS3 set him on another course. His synth addiction would have to wait. It was the guitar that carried him through a succession of record deals between '87 and 2001, most notably Kinky Machine, then Rialto, for which he produced 2 albums, the single 'Untouchable' a UK top 20 hit. Jonny then went on to write with Lily Allen and Sean Escoffrey, producing him as well and also for Wooshi. He also record a film soundtrack with John Du Prez and wrote adverts for Greenpeace and UPS, moving to Portugal in 2004 to set up a studio... and surf! For several years now Jonny has been moving away from the computer and has returned to analogue synths and sequencers, playing with different setups to find an intuitive system for improvising. With the resurgence of modular synths he saw a way to achieve this and dived headfirst down the rabbit hole! “Making ambient music Is a reflection of your state of mind
or a way to escape a chaotic world that seems to be spiralling out of control. Or maybe its about creating a new space to inhabit. Anyway there's nothing quite like getting lost in a sea of cables and seeing if you can navigate your way to a cool place, somewhere you want to spend some time...” Always a huge Beatles and Beach Boys fan, his tastes are pretty fickle moving between Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin, The Sex Pistols, Jean Michael Jarre, and Ian Dury (in skateboarding days!). Current favourites include: Lightbath, Colin Benders, Steevio, Richard Devine, Alessandro Cortini, Roll the Dice, Burial, Jon Hopkins and Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith. released November 15, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Jonathan S Griff - Coracle Shells (3:53) 24Bit “Coracle Shells” is a sparse and haunting track, a peaceful space to inhabit. Quiet and still to begin with, its reflective and slightly melancholic chords give way to a gently soaring passage which reveals the optimism at the core of the piece.” Jonathan S Griff is a London based electronic composer and classically trained pianist. He has written music for film, TV and theatre, before going to study music at Goldsmiths in London. During this time he studied film composition and arranging, as well as piano with British experimental jazz pianist Howard Riley which fuelled his interest in improvisation. He is currently working on a collection of new ambient/electronic compositions that mix classical influences with improvisation. “Coracle Shells” is a piece about reflection, from a place of stillness. “After finishing the piece, I saw a picture of upturned coracles on a beach, working boats at rest, which seemed to capture the spirit of what I was trying to get across in the piece”. Jonathan S Griff's musical references are to Susumu Yokota, Chris Carter, Simon Fisher Turner, Erik Satie, Maurice Ravel and Philip Glass whilst similarities have been drawn to the music of Susumu Yokota, Erik Satie “Ambient Music appeals to me because I like music that is simple and direct but has hidden depths that reveal themselves with further listening. But I also like the fact that it can equally exist as a backdrop that doesn’t force itself into your awareness, yet has the power to influence your mood”. released December 13, 2019

Tracklist: 01.Jogging House - Fingers (4:33) 24Bit “’Fingers’ is created from natural, acoustic sounds in an artificial space, a little in the way that dreams work. Taking sounds that trigger memories or feelings but shifting the context they are in so they become something entirely different.” Jogging House is the artist name of Boris Potschubay, a synthesist and composer from Frankfurt, Germany, who has a free approach to composition and a uniquely serene and sensual sound. His tracks are about taking things slowly, but also doing the unexpected. He combines ambient soundscapes with laid-back grooves and countless little melodies and detail, creating beautiful music that isn't related to a certain time or place but aims to explore feelings and moods through sound, taking his listeners along the journey.
With ‘Fingers’ he wanted to make a track that makes the listener feel weightless and drifting, but at the same time warm comfortable and at home.
“It is hard to really define ambient music, as it is such a very vague genre. For some it is just background music in spas, for others it is generative music and yet others focus on complex compositions. For me personally it is a way of calming down and being free. Not having to follow any rules and just listening to yourself, maybe even discovering a side of you that you weren’t in touch with before.” released February 7, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Benoit Pioulard - Partic. reve (5:06) 24Bit “’Partic. reve'” has a slowly shifting core loop that was built up over a long time and gently treated with analogue pedals and tape processing – it is one of the very first pieces of music created in a new studio space after a momentous move across the US following 12 years in the Pacific northwest.” Since a young age, Thomas Meluch (pka Benoit Pioulard) has been fascinated by natural sounds and the textures of decay. He began playing piano before his feet could reach the pedals, and for more than a decade has sought to create a unique sonic environment steeped in analogue textures and the unpredictability of field recordings. A veteran drummer of a half dozen bands and an avid collector of instruments and tape machines, Meluch relies on guitar and voice as the bases for his work as Benoît Pioulard. “Ambient music has remained an accepted term for what I hear as an extremely broad realm of thoughtful composition with different goals, like any genre. It can enhance surroundings, create atmosphere, be a humming backdrop, or be the subject of intense focus and meditation. Whereas once it might have been dismissed by the general listening public, it seems these days that people are rapidly discovering its importance in the context of daily life.” His musical references and musical similarities re to William Basinski, Grouper, The Remote Viewer, Bibio, Altars Altars and Fluorescent Heights. released February 21, 2020

What I like the most is how we can hold on to pieces of the past whilst we wait for our future. What about the present? Is it just a stage during which we observe who we were and who we will become? The 5 tracks of this Ep are questions about this.”
Taken from the forthcoming Dep Ep by Italian composer and pianist Luca Longobardi ‘8 Lightyears From Here’ is “a good-night tale, music to set the mood for a nostalgic dream.”
Longobardi comes from a generation of classically trained musicians that incorporate the language of contemporary electronic music into their compositions, and which are strongly connected to the multimedia arts. He studied classical music in Italy and New York and went on to earn his doctorate in digital audio restoration in Rome in 2011. His works reveal a strong interaction between classical and contemporary music. “The fragile and intimate piano pieces are often in the foreground, interwoven with electronic nuances and atmospheric soundscapes. The emotional picture is a fragile skeleton of melancholy, the kind of melancholy that is born between longing and lucid dreaming.” (Gezeitenstrom - Musikmagazin) released March 6, 2020

At his multimedia performances and in his recordings, strongly experimental electronic music meets pure, ethereal and simple-seeming piano playing that nevertheless relays deep emotions. Of the EP Luca says: Now and Always: “a frame of time, a dialogue of two persons who bring their troubled thoughts from the past to present.” Elke: “diving into retro sounds with a cinematic hint.” Dēp: “in memory of Daniele, a special person and close friend of ours who died in an accident too early.” Clouds: “taking a break from the routine, bringing my head up in the clouds.” 8 light-years from here: “a good-night tale, music to set the mood for a nostalgic dream.” “Ambient Music to me is not generally a genre but a place in which we can take a moment for us.” His musical references are Murcof, Beethoven, Nils Frahm, Thom Yorke, BVDUB. “Longobardi’s works seem to be spontaneous, based on everyday-life situations that give the impression of being very simple but that hold deep feelings and thoughts, and the more you immerse yourself in them the more familiar they become, and will fill you with nostalgia for places and people you don’t know” (Gezeitenstrom – Musikmagazin). released April 3, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Musin - Self Frequency (4:08) 24Bit ‘Self Frequency’ is the lead track taken from electronic musician Musin’s debut release - ‘Perception’. While containing dance beats, this EP is also an experimental and ambient work. It captures melancholic sounds in non-linear structures and merges acoustic drums with lo-fi synthesisers through the use of pedal effects and analogue synthesisers finding a balance between electronica and contemporary composition. Inspired by the short movies of the avant-garde artist Richard Sierra, ‘Perception’ is based on the interpretation of reality through time, space and matter. Perception has its own abstract logic and this makes it necessary to adapt verbal or mathematical terms in ordinary life. Time, scale and three-dimensional vagueness are usually accepted as interpretations of reality and the experience of self-reflection highlights the contradiction in the perception of the subject itself and its objective expression. Born in Italy, Musin creates experimental tracks using analogue equipment and real instruments, merging acoustic beats with melancholic music. He learned piano from the age of six and later guitar, accordion, hand percussions and drums. In 2007 he moved to London where he graduated in Sound Engineering at SAE London Institute and had an opportunity to study with a great electroacoustic composer and researcher who got him interested in electronic composition. Fascinated by sound and space Musin has recently dedicated his time to producing music that embraces acoustic instruments with electronics, finding ways to create spatial dimensions through the use of effects in a non-linear structural composition. “Time, space and repetitions are the generative factors in our daily life, while we live in chaotic environments the spatial self-interpretation of ambient is the fundamental key to go through reality. Thus this is the aim of ambient music as a medium to create active listening through the inner expression of senses.” released April 17, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Infinite Scale - Over the Storms (5:17) 24Bit “I wanted to create a piece of music that didn’t have any sequencing characteristics of my past releases. It must be in parts, as if there are 4 movements. A brief complete without a word to no one.” Harmi Palda PKA Infinite Scale has been creating music since the mid-nineties, using a mighty (and expanded!) 2MB Ensoniq EPS sampler. His interest and passion into producing musical experiments of a very varied kind led to seeing his first EP, Sound Sensor, being released on Toytronic Records back in 2005. Today he continues to experiment with his beloved hardware which now partners up very well with a variation of sequencing and audio design software. His music has the ability to haunt the listener's thoughts. “To me, ambient music is the perfection of having the volume low enough so as not to disturb your environment yet be audible in every sense.” His musical reference stem from the iconic Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dream and Gary Numan, moving on through Electro-Street Sounds, Hip Hop (early Bronx), Wildstyle, B-Boy Breakdance, fusing into dubplates such as Jah Shaka, Saxon Sound, Mad-Professor. Tracklist: 01.Harpey - Lost (3:27) 24Bit “‘Lost’ is a disfigured imagining of an original song scattered over a broken soundscape” Harpey is the recording name of UK-based producer and musician, Janet Savage. Dark streets lit with neon, surrounded by highrise buildings and populated by abnormal beings is the setting Lost creates. It could easily be setting the scene to a Ballard or Huxley-esque dystopia, with its eerie pockets of space creating feelings of disassociation in a distorted world. Like its literary counterparts, it mirrors elements of our current world and warns on its potential plight. The advancements of technology, particularly social media mean feeling lost isn’t a foreign concept. Harpey reminds you that you’re not alone here, and Lost provides the cathartic outlet you need sometimes, to make sense of things. “Ambient invites a co-creation between artist and listener. Tracklist: 01.Dear Gravity - Illusion of Sense (2:19) 24Bit Featuring moody piano and atmospheric electric guitar, this brief yet haunting piece by ambient composer Dear Gravity (Mike Graff) gives the listener a chance to step back and explore their thoughts. Combining ambient, cinematic, and post-rock elements, Dear Gravity's musical work is new yet familiar. Always exploring, always searching, always wondering. Principal member Mike Graff is no stranger to the ambient music scene, having been involved in a wide range of instrumental projects over the past decade. Featured worldwide in a variety of films and projects, each Dear Gravity release has been met with critical acclaim. In 2019, Dear Gravity released the three-instalment Pilgrimage Series in collaboration with Echoes Blue Music (Salt Of The Sound, Narrow Skies, Antarctic Wastelands). Each instalment - Departure, Wayfaring, and Arrival - was created to feel like a journey on its own, yet also tie in with a greater narrative. The entire Pilgrimage Series was released in full-length form in January 2020. In between Pilgrimage releases, Dear Gravity released the minimalist-mindfulness album Sleep Scenes in October 2019 and 2020 will see the landscape of Dear Gravity's creative work expand even further. With daring and minimal new sounds yet to come, Dear Gravity has truly only begun on its own pilgrimage. “Ambient music allows me - both as a composer and an avid listener - to reset my mood, take in a calmer approach to life, and focus on what I need to do next. I want to create music that gives this same opportunity for focus and rest as it does for me. There's enough busyness and distraction in this world - I want to keep creating music that bucks the fast-forward mentality of it all.” released June 26, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Kieldfal - Frontier Confines (4:17) “With Frontier Confines I wanted to create a gentle and soft piece, that rolls and swells with a tame, but gradual build towards the summit of the track. I feel that it’s a great piece that the listener can explore the texture and layers with concentration, or simply relax and get lost in.” Kieldfal is an ambient and atmospheric project based out of Northumberland, England. It's the brainchild of composer Sam Wardhaugh, who aims to explore, discover and craft different approaches to sound design and songcraft. Through sampling, field recordings and experimentalism, Kieldfal transforms these elements into deep and intriguing layered, textural soundscapes. The releases predominately focus on orchestral drones, string arrangements and intimate production aesthetics that combined, help to drive depth and character Frontier Confines takes its influence from the cold, harsh and sometimes unyielding environments experienced in Northumberland, England. But yet, where beauty and stillness can be found. Frontier Confines carries a calming sensation, that will take the listener on a relaxing journey and provides a meditative environment. “I’ve always loved nature and stillness from when I was young and I think that has gradually developed and moved into my music. I love that the ambient genre is such a diverse and varied field; that you can discover some amazing artists doing completely different things but with the same instruments. I enjoy the fact that you can either meditate and let the ambient music glide over you, or really focus and listen to all the textures, the gaps between notes, the layers and noise.” Kelidfal has a wide range of musical taste that he likes to bring into his own ambient project, and through years of listening and experiencing those artists it has helped create that own unique approach and sound design that is Keildfal. Ambient artists from which he has really found inspiration and reference recently would be Alaskan Tapes, Lauge and BPMoore. released July 24, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Marconi Union - Departure (4:54) “Marconi Union manages to effortlessly generate its addictive and idiosyncratic spell once again. Although the sound and style are different their emotive nocturnal hooks are present and lethal as always” Igloomag.com With the release of the first single ‘Departure’ today, Marconi Union are delighted to announce the reissue of the ‘Departures’ EP on 25th September. Originally released in a very limited run of cassette tapes some 5 years ago, the EP has never before been made available through normal digital channels and The Ambient Zone are very pleased to be able to bring it to a wider audience this autumn. Foreshadowed by albums such as ‘Under Wires and Searchlights’ and ‘Beautifully Falling Apart’, both of which carry a similar spatiality and traces of regret and loss, the Departures is the continuation of a thread that runs through all of Marconi Union’s work. About this single, Departure, Marconi Union’s Richard Talbot says: “I remember the first time I heard Duncan’s piano on this, it’s simplicity sits beautifully here, its fragility contrasts with the underlying beds of sound, which are quite dense.” To which Duncan Meadows adds: “There's an ethereal quality to this track, a sense of something ascending.” released July 24, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Peppermoth - Space Diving (4:37) “Space Diving feels like a cross between a childlike musical round ('row your boat') and a sweet folk melody from another era, bathed in a landscape of sonic weightlessness - as if it was all being played a thousand miles out in space, while still feeling rooted in a time before man tamed the earth's gravity.” Peppermoth is the ambient instrumental project of Canadian producer and remixer Andrew McPherson. Raised on a diet of musical mavericks like Jon Hassell, Eno, Daniel Lanois, Sakamoto, Michael Brook and the impressionist work of early 20th century composers Debussy and Satie, Peppermoth's world is expansive, cinematic and glacially paced. The sonic palette leans generously on Andrew's classical upbringing, while incorporating his lifelong love of improvisation, dub, impressionism and the limitless, creative canvas of the recording studio. This track was conceived on an omnichord, the skittering melodies catch and refract sonic light as delays and other instruments bounce off each other like so many constellations above us. Andrew particularly loves how the song feels like it's in a waltz rhythm despite being played in 4/4. Peppermoth has released 4 albums to date, 'Now You Hear Me', 'Glimmer Tide', 'Glimmer Tide Remixes' and 2020's 'The Second Bird', the latter 3 released in partnership with world renowned US imprint, Six Degrees Records. Andrew also leads the global dub fusion project Eccodek, who have released 7 albums to date on esteemed labels like White Swan/Black Swan, Buddha Bar, Six Degrees, Real World. His production and remix work includes artists Vieux Farka Touré, Transglobal Underground, Dub Colossus, Pan Electric, Kiran Ahluwalia, Delhi2Dublin, Jane Siberry and more. "As a child with hungry ears I realized that, within the steady diet of classical, opera, folk and choral music I was raised on, lay the many seeds of ambient music that I would come to adore and create. There were so many sonic palettes within each of those musical traditions that I would either try to emulate them in my own recordings or I would try to find substitutes for in other instruments and recording techniques. Peppermoth wears its musical antecedents and influences proudly on its sleeve and it also stays true to the spirit of improvisation, sonic manipulation and melody driven composition that is the hallmark of classic ambient. The gift of worldlessness also sits at the heart of this genre's appeal to me as an artist. The opportunity to communicate that which eludes the spoken word has always held me captive.” released August 7, 2020

Belgian natives from the German-speaking community, the two Rikaar brothers founded their musical partnership in 2013, with the mission to spontaneously translate feelings and thoughts into tones and chords. Kas is the technician of the two, a synthesist and sound specialist, who gave up his saxophone playing in 1995 to dedicate himself to the mastery of his Technics 1210 - and to produce his own music. Ringo, who has been playing trumpet since he was six years old and has played in various bands as a keyboard player, enriches the project with his classical musical education and wealth of knowledge. released August 28, 2020

Cold and harsh, yet heartwarming and caressing.” Igloomag.com The second single before the release of the ‘Departures’ EP on 25th September, ‘Still’ is another beautiful ambient composition from those masters of the genre, Marconi Union. Duncan remembers the three of them discussing the guitar line in ‘Still’ and how it had an Indian feel to it, both the sound and the notes. “That sparked us talking about Indian death ceremonies, which eventually, though not directly, led us to the titles for the Departures EP.” Richard says that he still remembers how the lead line surprised him when he first heard it, “It catches me every time. Tracklist: 01.Lazy Pluto - Sunken 7 (3:52) “I was inspired by watching Chicago Footwork after attending Bass Coast, a small festival on the west coast of Canada. I’m super inspired by futuristic and spacey sounds, I always try to bend genre's so that I can attempt an undefinable classification." The primary alias of Jade Krogh-Mantle, Lazy Pluto, has been credited with some of the least predictable, least classifiable electronic music in Canada. Although rhythmic and dance floor worthy, this track’s primary form takes on the immersion of a Transcendental Meditation. With a driving mantra present throughout, it works through different pockets of your mind; surfacing, making sense of and setting free buried thoughts, while always returning to the propulsive sedation of this motif. Since debuting modestly in 2014 under the alias Kaboko, Lazy Pluto has juggled a diverse array of inspirations, including early-'80s funk and electro, art rock, raw and classicist house, and Dubstep, while putting a fresh spin on the forms to decayed, disorienting effect. “Ambient music is something that can be used as a tool, I'll often use ambient music for meditative purposes, you can create such an interesting emotional sensation with this genre, it's beautiful and relatively unexplored.” released September 11, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Austin Rockman - Aqua Soul Furrow (5:34) 24Bit “This is an improvisational work that revolves around the guitar as both a textural and melodic sound source. The piece contains a myriad of sounds from playfully engaging with the physicality of the instrument. Personally, this work embodies the end of an era, as the artist moves past the sonic approaches of his earlier releases.” Austin Rockman is an experiential composer, multi-instrumentalist and sound artist who aims to inhabit a meaningful overlap between noise, dissonance and musical pleasantry. His works utilize a unique hybrid of digital and organic sound sources. The result being a dreamscape of an almost supernatural origin, that tempt the ears to rethink the possibilities of the auditory arena. Austin is someone who appreciates the subtleties of various art forms. He spends his free time culturing himself in cinema, exploring multiple disciplines of literature, and writing poetry. Be it in words, sounds, or images, expression is the home of his heart and mind. ‘Austin Rockman’s music is truly an unprecedented journey through time and space. Liberating, unconventional and groundbreaking are but a few accurate adjectives to describe his craft and innovative approach to music.’ Soundontime His creative inspiration comes from many forms of art, mainly cinema. Recently, he finds himself coming back to musicians like Talk Talk, Nick Drake, Slint, Swans, My Bloody Valentine and Björk. His music has drawn comparisons to composers like William Basinski, Jeff Greinke, Nicholas Jaar, Shlohmo, and Jim O’Rourke. “Ambient music has become quite the umbrella term, like most genres, for a sort of ‘do whatever you want’ music. But if there is one distinction among other forms of instrumental music it is the aim to create a sort of crystallized emotion, where the listener is invited into a refreshing and unpredictable experience, very much characterized by a place in time.” released September 25, 2020

Although the sound and style are different their emotive nocturnal hooks are present and lethal as always. A spark of improvisation is present as well, equipping the tunes with raw fluid honesty. Contemplative, disconnected, cathartic. Cold and harsh, yet heartwarming and caressing. Hope emerges out of darkness. Beauty shines out of harshness.” Igloomag.com With the release today of the lead track ‘Departure’ today, Marconi Union are delighted to announce the reissue of ‘Departures’ EP, originally released in a very limited run of cassette tapes some 5 years ago. ‘Departures’ has never been made available though normal digital channels and we are very pleased to be able to bring it to a wider audience. Foreshadowed by albums such as ‘Under Wires and Searchlights’ and ‘Beautifully Falling Apart’, both of which carry a similar spatiality and traces of regret and loss, the EP is a continuation of a thread that runs through all of Marconi Union’s work. The music encapsulates a moment of time between the release of the Weightless and Ghost Stations albums when Marconi Union were interested in exploring the concept of coming to an end and through the five separate tracks the different kinds of celebrations of an ending. It was actually made very fast with all three members of the band working simultaneously, then piecing their contributions together to create the whole. Richard Talbot says: “I’m not sure whether those moods were conveyed by the music or whether they captured the kind of life changes we all go through. What I most like about these tracks and indeed the whole EP, is that despite the way it was made the music sounds played, rather than programmed, and there is the feeling that we are listening to real people interacting to make the music.” Marconi Union reinvent themselves with every release, but without ever losing their magic. ‘Departures’ is an illustration of the band at their most subtle and minimal. released September 25, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Avalanche Death - Plethora (3:36) 24Bit “I feel warm listening to this piece of music and I hope that everyone else will feel the same.” Avalanche Death is an alias of Cho Beomsuk (or as what others call him, David Cho). Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Avalanche Death has been producing various styles of music ranging from a hard-hitting rave to a tranquil afterhours chill-out since 2015. David is quite an impetuous person and due to his natural impetuosity he says that many of the choices he makes often lead to a personal regret and an emotional mismatch both before and after. He says the worst thing is that the rewards he gets for the choice he makes are often underwhelming compared to his expectations, and he finds it hard to deal with such a sudden plunge of emotional tension from the sentimental plethora. This is what the theme of the track ‘Plethora’ revolves around. David decided to take a minimalistic and a laid-back approach with this piece and he hopes that it will relieve the tension in the listeners’ lives. Fun and inviting Plethora’s beats are softly and delicately woven together and it gets you thinking about what really matters; the relationships we all have with one another. Whether it be family, friends or the wider world, there is a plethora of trivial things that get in the way of simply getting along. The emotions Plethora radiates highlight this beautifully and bring you back down to earth in doing so. Artists from PC Music such as Easyfun or Hannah Diamond, and a lot of Charli XCX’s recent works were early influences, but currently he is making more organic and pastoral sounds with the influence of artists such as Sun Angels, Ana Caprix, Múm, Baths, and Nosaj Thing. David also listens to a lot of Cloud Rap or obscure Hip Hop music from Friendzone, Main Attrakionz, Bladee, and etc. which would also have influenced him on a subconscious level. “I love how ambient music could sculpt certain atmosphere for the listener. One of the most overwhelming emotions I have had in my life was when I saw the northern light in the outskirt of Tromso, Norway. Surrounded by the pitch-black of the Norwegian forest, I gazed at the sky for more than 30 minutes straight standing in awe of the nature. The experience was accompanied with the ambient mix ‘Long Dark Summer’ by Ana Caprix playing in my headphone. Without the music I would not have felt the same amplitude of emotion I’ve had in the moment.” released October 9, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Francisco Sonur - 108 (5:00) 24Bit “Mountain Guide has been written and recorded for over a year waiting for the right moment to be released. It was a long process, but at the same time a very nice learning time.” Francisco Sonur is a musician / producer (born in La Plata, Argentina) but currently resides in Sydney, Australia. He says his challenge has always been the same, to transmit what words cannot name. Tapes loops. Ambient soundscapes. Field Recordings. Toy instruments. Almost everything that can be used to express emotions can be found in his music. The main concept of the Mountain Guide EP was to create a dance piece, but at the same time capable of leading us to introspection. It is an EP that aims to take us through the beautiful trails until we reach the top of the mountain. 108 starts with a familiar notes of the piano yet the higher you climb, the more exotic and hyperreal your surroundings become. Glossy neon synths slide past you and glitchy tropical textures bring your landscape to life. As you climb you are again met with the familiar, except you now view this in a new light. The expression of the piano reflects your oneness with nature in this moment, and as you go to climb again, the endorphins begin to flow through you. Francisco’s main musical references are Explosions In The Sky, This Will Destroy You and V8 and his work has been compared to that of Kiasmos, Christian Loffler and Marcus Fischer. released October 23, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Viragi - Spirals (3:40) 24Bit Spirals is the lead track from Viragi’s forthcoming EP ‘Into the Clear Light’. A synthetic ensemble from your dreams carries you through a piece that is first-hand evidence of less often being a lot more. It's silky arpeggios float from your mind and call to nearby dream catchers. The dream catchers response portrayed by the bed of soft, synthetic chords, aiding a deep and peaceful sleep, the cycle continuing until the mind has worked through all that lies in the subconscious. Beautiful and extraordinary, Viragi's music is a spiritual and mystical mixture of east and west. Featuring hypnotic multi-layered rhythms, virtuoso guitar, enigmatic voices and inspirational sounds from a vast musical landscape, he makes modern ambient music. His album ‘The Seven Heads of Propaganda’ released some 20 years ago remains a classic in the genre to this day. He lives in the depths of the English countryside and travels extensively in Asia, Africa and Europe. He spends his time making music, collecting and trading in art and digging his garden, listening to music all day, everything from classical to world to pop and rock. He is currently much enamoured by the music of artists from the Islamic world such as Anouar Brahem and Dhafer Youssef. “To me ambient music is about creating spaciousness and atmosphere whilst retaining a harmonious melodic thread to keep the listener engaged. No surprise at the rising interest in this form of music given the trying times that we live in.” released November 6, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Qaett - Undercurrent (4:54) 24Bit ‘Undercurrent’ is one of 3 beatless, meditative and pure ambient tracks which will form the upcoming Molten EP - release scheduled for early next year. It is peaceful and lo-fi, minimal and pensive. Having released music in digital and physical form on several labels since 2011 under a different alias, Qaett is a return to basics. Under this guise Qaett creates ambient music in its purest form, neo-classical piano music with strong lo-fi influences and dreamy, melancholy beats. Qeatt’s influences are broad, as he loves a lot of very different music and his preferred artists change over time as well. Some constants in the more or less ambient realm are Boards of Canada, Rafael Anton Irisarri, Arovane, Alessandro Cortini, Seefeel, Jon Hopkins, Nils Frahm and Ólafur Arnalds. “The kind of ambient music I like draws the listener into sonic environments to explore rather than traditional songs. It offers momentary windows into these other worlds. It meanders, using sparse melodies and subtle changes to grab some attention, but at the same time stay in the background.” released November 6, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Soular Order - Absolve (3:20) 24Bit “A deliciously delicate ambient track Absolve is built around a continuous pad, with other elements falling in and out of timing slightly to create obscure patterns that come together as one whole. The order in chaos.” Soular Order is a musician from Manchester, England who creates experimental, ambient and beat-driven electronic music, combining elements of analogue synths, guitars and found sound percussion. Born Jon Maynard on November 26th, 1988, in Manchester, England, he began creating music under the name Soular Order in 2010. Having spent most of his youth playing guitar in various local bands, Jon began producing electronic music under various names until settling on the alias. Jon released 2 EP’s in 2012, before going on to form the label City By Night Records. That same year, he released the IV EP to launch the label. He released 5 EP’s through the City By Night Records label before releasing his first full-length album, Rhythmic Sleep, in 2016. Since then, he has gone on to found Beatsupply with label mate IOM and has continued to release various EPs and singles. “Ambient music is something that I've constantly gravitated towards both as a musician and a listener. I listen to all kinds of music, and I've made all kinds of music. But ambient has been a constant. There's something I find truly special about it. The subtlety in compositions. The time it takes to discover those subtleties. Ambient music, to me, is like looking at a painting. The more you look, you see things you didn't notice before. Ambient music can take you on a journey.” released December 4, 2020

It’s the sound of a city shutting down. Midnight was created with by granular loops. These loops build on each other but gradually disperse into a reverberation” Zander Kagle (aka glowlonely) grew up in Boston, Massachusetts, and currently resides in Portland, Oregon where he enjoys hiking and taking his dog to the dog park when he’s not making modular music. Trained as a drummer from an early age, through playing in bands and spending years touring, he developed a profound interest in production and mixing. This interest eventually cultivated into the pursuit of modular music. His current endeavour is creating live ambient and modular music in order to achieve an organic and emotive atmosphere of sound and feel. Previously, he lived in New York City and wrote music for commercial media. He also wrote and toured for the electronic act Holiday Mountain. After many years, glowlonely is enjoying writing from a different and more introspective perspective containing a more nuanced and subtle artistic approach. Citing his musical references as Ann Annie, Brian Eno, Lightbath, rbeny, and Jogging House, about ambient music he says: “Unlike many types of music that try to get from point a to point b, I believe ambient music is trying to capture a moment in time and the complexity of nature.” released December 18, 2020

Tracklist: 01.Nami Sato - TEN (3:42) 02.Nami Sato - 6th August (5:28) 24Bit Following on from last year’s critically acclaimed EP from Nami Sato - ‘Our Map Here’, a beautiful and moving record of atmospheric soundcapes recorded in the area that was heavily affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the Tsunami that followed, we are delighted to bring you two new tracks from Nami in advance of her forthcoming album entitled ‘World Sketch Monologue’ which will be released in the new year. About ‘TEN’, which will feature on her new album, Nami says: “The rain stopped and I saw a rainbow in the sky as if it was perfectly orchestrated. It felt like I was part of a perfectly written script. At the same time, I felt this strange feeling pouring through my body. We don’t recall it but every cell and tips of our body remembers it. We just haven’t recalled it yet.” The accompanying video has been sponsored by the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation (PIIF) Sendai City Citizen and Culture Public Corporation. The second track on the EP is entitled ‘6th August’, which is a reference to the bombing of Hiroshima which took place at 08.15 on that day in 1945. “On 6th of August 2020, I was rolling the recorder as I walked down Jouzenji Street. I was contemplating about peace. Summer will come next year and the following year in the same way it did this year, 6th of August will come the same way too. People can forget tragedy such as war and disaster so easily when they stop thinking.” Nami Sato grew up in Sendai – a small town on the coast side of Japan. When not working as a composer for television and short films, she contributes to local art projects and works on independent albums. In 2018, she qualified for the Red Bull Music Academy in Berlin as a solo ambient musician. Her favourite musicians are Brian Eno, Helios, Hammock, Bon Iver, Sigur Rós, Kara-Lis Coverdale, Hikaru Utada, Masakatsu Takagi, Ryuichi Sakamoto and her music has drawn comparisons to Yoshi Horikawa, “Ambient music is like a little boat. It brings us to a holy part of your mind where you keep your precious memory and scenery.” released October 30, 2020

Tracklist: 01.DEEP LEARNING - Sunken Forest (4:15) 24Bit “Sunken Forest is a short piece I wrote at the start of UK lockdown, 2020. When I hear it I imagine one of those towns that have eventually been swallowed up by a lake - you know buildings are still there underneath, the tops of pine trees still poking out. It evokes ideas of the earth and life undergoing constant change.” Richard Pike is a London-based Australian composer & multi-instrumentalist. His ambient/experimental solo pseudonym is DEEP LEARNING. He is also known as frontman and producer of Sydney pioneers PVT (Pivot), released on Warp Records UK and Felte US. About DEEP LEARNING he says: It is the electric aero-pulse of bliss. These are the texture residue songs of childhood dreams. The unstable strength of solitude. The sweet anxiety of a cascading fog. The moment where the data-music unfolds to lay bare it’s triumphant meaninglessness and vast uninterruption. It was always there and wants for nothing. If you open the door it can bring cosmic joy. Richard launched his own record label, Salmon Universe, in 2018. With a focus on ambient and electronic music, he released 2 of his own albums under the name DEEP LEARNING: Soft Confidence and Dataverse. He is also an AACTA award-nominated score composer. Although the sounds he uses are quite analogue, his albums are mainly made with software. In the rare case outboard equipment was used it is comprised of a Korg MS20 Mini and Roland RE-301 Chorus Echo. “I moved into ambient music after a period of reassessment with everything and then a period of renewal with my first release 'Soft Confidence'. It has become a mainstay for my life, inner and outer.” "Impeccably crafted, DEEP LEARNING is the luscious background you deserve, scraping away the noise and junk to reveal the constant drift that ties everything together." Tracklist: 01.Jogging House - Lasting (4:01) 24Bit “The Too EP is about a sensing a shared feeling. And an encouragement to follow it. It is an effort in creating a gentle and free outing that lets our minds wander, helps us to reflect and gives us hope for things to come. I wanted to make music that says “Yes, I feel it, too. But it’s going to be alright." Jogging House is Boris Potschubay. A synthesist and composer from Frankfurt, Germany, with a free approach to composition and a relaxed, sensual sound. Loosely named after the German word for sweat pants, Jogging House tracks are about taking things slow and being in tune with yourself, combining ambient soundscapes with laid-back grooves and countless small melodies & details. Boris creates music that isn't related to a certain time or place but aims to explore feelings and moods through sound, taking his listeners along the journey. "It seems that Ambient music is more important than ever. If words fail to help your anxiety during this year, then you should listen to these tender synthesizer sounds." DMCworld Besides making and sharing his own music, Jogging House is also the head of Seil Records, a label focused on optimistic ambient music. Releasing cassettes and vinyl LPs by likeminded international artists like Hainbach, r beny, Paperbark, Sofie Birch and many others. Boris is also a frequent supplier of synth patches for companies like Elektron and Novation. And on his recently started Patreon page, he mentors a growing community of artists in finding their own voices." “I see ambient music as a positive force in our world. It can’t change it but it might be strong enough to inspire people, to help them heal and to spread optimism.“ released January 20, 2021

No surprise at the rising interest in this form of music given the trying times that we live in.” ‘Into the Clear Light’ is new EP from Viragi. He is currently much enamoured by the music of artists from the Islamic world such as Anouar Brahem and Dhafer Youssef. released January 20, 2021

Tracklist: 01.Stanleystanley - You Could Strobe (2:52) 24Bit “For me, Ambient Music is more than just background music. I find myself listening on a daily basis in order to decompress after long days and stressful times. I also feel that it is one of the most interesting and creative types of music around at the moment as you can often find compositions that are both emotive and challenging.” Stanleystanley is the alias that electronic music producer and short film composer Jordan Russell Hall uses for releasing ambient music. His earlier track released by us was the beautifully composed ‘beside myself’. [link] With ‘You Could Stobe’ a single beam of light seems to grow, a kaleidoscope of swirling melodic textures and colours, seeming to draw you into a mesmeric fusion of warmth and sonic beauty - this is ambient music for the soul and enlightenment for the spirit “`The rising chord progression and bright arpeggiated synths allow the composition to build consistently towards a bittersweet ending.” Jordan looks towards the more unsettling side of ambient music by taking influences from outside the realm of calming or meditative music. Influenced by electronics producers such as Oneohtrix Point Never, Actress and Nathan Micay, he chooses to use synthetic voices, pulsing syncopated rhythms and glass-like synths to create music that is unquiet yet still warm and ambient. released February 3, 2021

It brings you to a holy part of your mind where you keep your precious memory and scenery.” Japanese artist Nami Sato grew up in a small town of Sendai on the coast of Japan Her atmospheric music inspires both calmness & wonder. With gorgeous layerings of synth, piano, guitar & field recordings, her songs reimagine & recreate our world. ‘She touches our soul with her sound’. ‘Seabed’ is a track from her forthcoming album ‘World Sketch Monologue’. Here she says she uses the sound she recorded on a plane heading back to Japan from Berlin. “I like long flight. Tracklist: 01.Lo-fitronics - Solaire (3:33) 24Bit “I discovered ambient music when I was a teenager with the record “No Pussyfooting” by Robert Fripp and Brian Eno. First upset, I then went from fascinated to obsessed. At the time I wondered what it would sound like if this droning guitar record was played by a classical orchestra. A few weeks later I discovered Glass, Reich and Riley..” Lo-fitronics is the audio and visual project of French musician, Arnaud Le Coq. Solaire is the first track to be released from his Five Arcana EP, an EP about symbolism as a visual language and how it interacts in our lives. Arnaud describes it as: “A kind of slow textured melodic video where the instruments play themselves, for no one, in search of nostalgia.” His childhood was about drawing, his adolescence about music. After studying music and graduating from the Paris Conservatoire, he began working with various groups as a guitarist, but then decided to focus on his own music, searching for the balance between the concrete and the abstract, between instinct and study, creating beautiful hallucinatory ambient pieces. released February 3, 2021
