Twelve Minds is a fresh, energetic producer straight out of London with an innovative underground sound which has been described as deep, groovy and hypnotic, with a classic feel. When not crafting beats and melodies, he is cooking up a storm in the kitchen, running his own events catering company in London. A man of many talents! The Owl EP showcases four big tracks from the deep, emotive and melodic house and techno spectrum: Twelve Minds - The Owl: moody, dark and grooving, this track brings a killer hook and is huge in the club. Twelve Minds – Rhino: dark and brooding, huge and rolling, this track is guaranteed to get the dancefloor moving to its melodic bassline. Twelve Minds - Where Did You {KatrinKa Edition}: KatrinKa brings a fresh and forward-looking sound to this twisted, melodic banger. Expect plenty more of these on Chapter 24! As a classically-trained pianist, Russian-born but London-based KatrinKa brings her skill, unique style and ear for engaging music to bear on her original productions and remixes. In 2013 she won a producer contest organised by Berlin-based label Steyoyoke and also regularly releases original tracks and remixes on Spirit Soul Records. Twelve Minds - Where Did You {Sam Pauli Edition}: an emotive and beguiling deep house track that tells the tale of internal worlds colliding, broken hearts and fresh starts. Sam Pauli is a co-founder of Chapter 24 Records. Inspired by a blend of influences on and off the dancefloor, his main passion is in pushing a new wave of deep, emotive and melodic house and techno sounds forward in the UK and beyond. released February 9, 2015

QUARTZ are two talented up-and-coming British producers, Paul Nolan and Andy Woods, united by a vision for finding the future and connecting people through a love of powerful, dramatic soundscapes and emotional house music. And sure enough, their first release - the Crystals EP - achieves this and more. A paean to the universe, the EP brings a fresh, new sound while being rooted in the spirituality and intent of the early days of house music. As with anything you can expect from Chapter 24, the tracks are deep, melodic and emotive: Cosmos – a tough future piano house tune, guaranteed to step things up and take control. Crystals – driving, epic and melodic, a peak track to help transport the dancefloor. Chronos – haunting and hypnotic, settled and expansive, take the journey inward and get lost in the depths: “we are in the universe…the universe is in us." Three parts of a single unified whole, each track showcases a complementary and interconnected dimension to QUARTZ’s unique sound. Expect big things from this act in 2015! released March 9, 2015

The title track comes backed by a collaboration with Paul Nolan and remixes from two of the rising stars of the deeper, more emotive and melodic end of the underground house and techno scene, producers Jonas Saalbach and Rashid Ajami. London based artist Sam Pauli is a founder of Chapter 24 Records, launched in December 2014. Although only a few months old, the label has already seen support from many of the World's finest DJ's. Here Sam pushes on with some fresh material for his imprint, working alongside another of the label’s founder members Paul Nolan on one of the cuts – a man hard at work behind the scenes producing and mentoring with the likes of Richie Hawtin, Thievery Corporation and Cassius. Opening the EP is title track Implications, which sees Sam Pauli provide a solo offering of gritty, melodious and bass heavy electronica. Across its seven and a half minutes Pauli entwines weighty rhythms, growling bass tones and meandering dreamy atmospherics to create a unique and charming opening piece. Next, Jonas Saalbach offers up his own take on Implications, with the German producer laying the focus on elongated bass drones, sparse rhythms and whirring electronics to create a smooth and hypnotic interpretation. This big, melodic and euphoric track is a perfect representation of the German’s heavily musical style that has featured on labels like Parquet, Einmusika and Kollektiv Turmstrasse’s Musik Gewinnt Freunde. On the flip side Pauli teams up with Paul Nolan on Start Over taking things a little darker with chugging bass licks, wandering arpeggios and a hazy ethereal feel that permeates an entrancing and emotive composition. Rashid Ajami then rounds things off with his own, very big version of Start Over. The Anjunadeep/Get Physical artist provides a more stripped back take on the track, laying the focus on sparse percussion and a weighty, subtly unfolding and compelling groove. released April 20, 2015

Billie Fountain - Beauty (7:32) For its fourth release, Chapter 24 Records offers up an EP from up-and-coming Russian-born, London-based producer KatrinKa. With previous releases to her name on Steyoyoke, Spirit Soul Records and Chapter 24 itself, she is building up a reputation for emotive, enticing and melodic grooves. This package delivers on all fronts. KatrinKa’s originals are accompanied by debut editions from Brazilian producer Danny Oliveira and Just Her - one half of unstoppable duo Him_Self_Her - marking an exciting start to her solo project. The EP opens with the title track ‘Echo Gnomic’, a wonderful cut of electronica through which KatrinKa purveys a deep and delicious blend of wandering arpeggios, synth lines and chugging percussion. Next up is Danny Oliveira’s edition of ‘Echo Gnomic’, which retains the dreaminess and emotion of the original. Beautiful and melancholic synth lines are matched all at once by underlying tension, unease and a brooding sense of euphoria, finally yielding to a relentless and pulsating techno groove that would sound at home on labels like Life and Death. With a number of future releases slated on Chapter 24, we are excited to see what the future brings for this artist. The second edition of ‘Echo Gnomic’ comes from Just Her, who eschews dreaminess in favour of a banging tech house cut. Unease and drama are amplified as the track builds to a crescendo of driving stabs for what is sure to be a dancefloor winner. Last on the EP is a collaboration between KatrinKa and vocalist Billie Fountain, which brings yet another flavour to an excellent EP. A seductive and entrancing groove entwines itself with a bewitching vocal, to which you cannot help but move your body. This brilliant track rounds off a multi-faceted and high quality release for the new label, which is going from strength to strength. released May 25, 2015

Better known for his work as DNYO and following a glimpse of his production skills on remix duties last time out on Chapter 24 for KatrinKa’s Echo Gnomic EP, Danny Oliveira marks a very exciting start to a new project in the house and techno scene. A Thought In Mind sets the tone, rooting the EP in a cosmic vibe by building a layered ambient soundscape, unearthly voices mingling with synths rising to a crescendo, undulating between harmony and discord in a perfect set starter. Oliveira immediately follows this up with a bolt from the blue: the startling and huge Rekonektion. A descending arpeggio relentlessly drives home, building and re-forming, rising and falling in a track precision engineered to destroy dance floors. Things take a turn towards techno with Saikin Do, a chugging groove overlaid with a catchy, spacey synth hook combining to create a quality, hypnotic piece. Finally, the EP closes with the eponymous Stargazer. All at once channelling and inspired by the cinematic brilliance of Hans Zimmer, the track builds from a techno groove into a climax of wondrous, ethereal cosmic pads. A bright future beckons for Danny Oliveira as he builds his new project for Chapter 24. released June 15, 2015

Born with a techno soul, this fast-rising artist blends melodic beats with an incredible variety of influences which have seen him rapidly signed to Crossfrontier Audio, Tenampa, Chilli Mint Digital and Einmusika. The Goodbye EP on Chapter 24 is perhaps his finest work to date. First up comes Station. A straight up banger of the purest kind, it pulses forward relentlessy as an arpeggio weaves around a chunky, repeating bassline. Blippy, twisted melodies are introduced and it’s game, set and match…a surefire winner. Next on the EP is Come On, another banger…this time taking us on a melodic voyage. Combining old school hip hop, electro and futuristic references into a unique and cohesive whole, this piece builds hypnotically around another arpeggiated synth. Once in the break, an evil jazz-influenced melody unfurls and the sub takes hold, taking us home. Finally we finish on a peak, with the eponymous Goodbye. Dark, menacing, deliciously dramatic and technically accomplished - a fitting end to an impressive and forward thinking EP. The story moves on apace. released August 3, 2015

Taking inspiration from a 16th Century a cappella choral piece, Aspice is a perfect summer track. Carried by choirs, a dreamy pad and an entrancing house groove we find ourselves transported: looking to the heavens, taking flight across azure skies. Uplifted, we skirt the edges of the divine... Next up, Olivier Weiter (Armada/Sudbeat/Parquet) offers up his own take on things. For his first release on Chapter 24, Weiter maintains the original’s vocal sample while adding new hooks and interweaving complex and compelling textures into a tense and uplifting piece. Where the original Aspice takes us to the sky, KatrinKa’s Edition is far more grounded, even subterranean. A heads down powerful groove takes hold in a track perfect for the dancefloor. Following a killer drop at the end of the main break, we find ourselves in the seventh circle of the inferno…and it’s never felt so good! Finally, Chapter 24 co-founder Paul Nolan picks things up for his Look To The Universe Edition. With a relentless and entrancing groove allied to rolling bass guitar licks, the track unfolds into something of an epic, never once dragging despite its thirteen minutes. Cosmic and melancholic, this truly is music to make you feel connected with the universe. released August 28, 2015

History never repeats itself: for progress and thought moves not in circles, but in spirals. For its latest instalment, fast-rising imprint Chapter 24 welcomes Kurt Baggaley to the helm for two mesmerising pieces of electronica-infused techno, supplemented by powerful Editions from THe WHite SHadow (FR) and Nhar. An artist who lives and breathes electronic music culture, Kurt Baggaley has evolved his productions into a unique and personal sound since his early days as the Electro artist Scape One. Taking in influences from early 80's Chicago House, Detroit Techno and New York Club, with a fusion of Italo Disco, Euro Synth and Electro, his huge Former Self EP on SoHaSo in Spring 2015 was met with widespread acclaim. Supported by the likes of Michael Mayer, Dixon and Petar Dundov, it was followed up with an album on Abstract Theory a few months later. With the Spiral EP, Kurt brings more of his mesmerising and arpeggio-laden electronica to the table. Spiral {Original Mix} relentlessly interweaves layers of analogue synths and drum machines into a unique and compelling whole. Meanwhile, Spiral {Staircase Mix} is dancefloor ready, losing none of the hypnotic edge of the original whilst being deeper, darker and techno-tinged. The spiral winds its course. THe WHite SHadow (FR) (aka Anthony Godwin) is next up. He delivers a typically intricate and electrifying Edition that sees him capitalise on the success of his Goodbye EP for Chapter 24, leaving us tingling for more. Finally, the label welcomes Nhar. An electronic music staple with Kompakt, he has released as far and wide as Mobilee, Correspondant and Boxer Recordings. Adding his own French vocals, he deploys his talents to take things into low slung, menacing and sexy territory. Emanating from a central point, continuously increasing and receding. He welcomes Swiss/Chilean Producer, DJ and Mina Records boss Masaya and up-and-coming artist Christopher Ivor on the remix to round off a stunning EP. Title track Lumina is a huge angular cut, a slinky rolling groove interspersed by acid licks giving way to a killer, hypnotic arpeggio on a bed of dreamy voices. David follows up with Basiq Talking, a wonky soulful affair which is no less hypnotic. Complex, layered and drifting, this one will have you hooked. Masaya takes things forward with her Esperanza Edition, placing the emphasis on Basiq Talking’s soft, sensual vocal and turning in a groovy, minimal and futuristic remix. The final original piece on the EP is Demencia, an insanely hooky techno number that ratchets things up with layer upon layer of tension. The EP closes with Christopher Ivor’s Edition of Demencia, in which the Einmusika artist recasts the track in house form, replete with percussive, funky loops and an epic, emotional breakdown. Showcasing the skills that have seen him signed to the likes of Diynamic, Suara, Knee Deep In Sound and Stil Vor Talent, Jeremy brings four cuts of the highest quality for his debut Chapter 24 release. The Lost Valleys EP sums up the Several Definitions project perfectly. Spanning a spectrum of emotion: loss, love, and joy, somewhere between house and techno, each track combines warm atmospheres with rich, captivating melodies and is carried home by deep, rolling beats. The EP opens with Cronos, a moody, dancefloor roller which builds into a cinematic climax. The title track Lost Valleys is next, and ups the ante further. Undulating melody lines ebb and flow, becoming ever more intense. A weapon for peak times. Atlas brings the same ambition and scope. Built around more stunning synth work, this evocative piece manages to be driving, heads down, percussive and cosmic all at the same time. Finally, the sting in the tail: Recover. Miss Melera hails from Amsterdam and has been honing her craft over the last decade. She is a radio regular as well as a touring DJ who plays the finest clubs and festivals around Europe and the Americas. As well as this, she has proven her studio chops are slick and compelling and has released EPs on labels like Parquet and Einmusika before now. Her first cut here is Magenta, a robust house roller with grumbling bass, dark atmospheres and icy hi hats rolling on top of the groove. It’s a broody back room track with lush synths that subtly uplift the whole affair and keep you locked. Dave Seaman is one of the original pioneers of house music who has been smashing it recently with cuts on his own Selador, as well as Hive Audio, Suara and many other influential labels. His Edition of Magenta is much more wild and freewheeling, with edgy synths rising up and up above turbulent drums and apocalyptic chords. Miss Melera’s next original is Mint, a deep and bubbly house cut with phased bass and scale riding pads that are spooky and eerie and suck you deep into a late night groove. Classy and well designed, it is another fine bit of work. Jonas Saalbach is a young star who is making his second appearance on the label. He has recently put out an excellent full length on Einmusika and a fine EP on John Digweed’s Bedrock. Here, he comes good once more. His Edition of Mint is spine-tingling and awash with gorgeously smooth pads and spangled synths. Soothing and calming yet driven, it closes out an essential EP. released January 15, 2016

For this next story in sound, we welcome back Kurt Baggaley, whose wonderful 'Winterland' also receives the attentions of Patlac and Petar Dundov with two immaculate Editions. An artist who lives and breathes electronic music culture, Kurt Baggaley has evolved his productions into a unique and personal sound since his early days as the Electro artist Scape One. Taking in influences from early 80's Chicago House, Detroit Techno and New York Club, with a fusion of Italo Disco, Euro Synth and Electro, his huge Former Self EP on SoHaSo in Spring 2015 was met with widespread acclaim on both digital and physical formats. Supported by the likes of Michael Mayer and Dixon, it was followed up with his debut release on Chapter 24 a few months later, opening the book with his Spiral EP. Winterland continues this momentum. The title track blows in a cold, enveloping wind of analogue synths and drum machines, swirling around a central arpeggio. Disco, minimal and electro influences are clearly to be heard in what amounts to a unique and compelling piece of electronic music. Patlac takes the reins for the first Edition. With original releases on liebe*detail and Soulfooled and remixes for Pets Recordings, Noir and Musik Gewinnt Freunde, his music possesses an empathy for time, people and place. Retaining some of the disco influence of the original, this sensitive and thoughtful approach results in an energetic Edition driven by pushing rhythms and deep, powerful grooves, but also with a refined sense of harmony and melody. The final Edition on the package is a fitting one, from Croatian maestro Petar Dundov, who occupies the flip side. Dundov makes intelligent electronic music that breaks boundaries. His breathtaking take on the original embodies this ethos, hitting home with body twisting beats while also challenging the mind with complex melodies and slow-burning, hypnotic progressions. In his masterful hands, the track takes on life of its own, forever evolving and expanding and increasing in intensity. With the Winterland EP, Chapter 24 turns the page on its first volume of releases, closing the Aesop’s Fables artwork series with a stunning linocut portrayal of 'The Wolf and the Crane' from in-house artist Simon Vaeth. The lessons from Aesop will make way for those of the Tarot, as the Book of Changes continues to shine a light on the wintry path ahead. released January 29, 2016

Häxeri, meaning witchcraft in Swedish, is the alias of 27 year old producer Max Mansson. Although born in Stockholm, he has called London home from an early age. Debut single 'Heavy Dreams' saw widespread success, receiving airplay on BBC Radio, featuring on The Magician’s 'Magic Tape' mix series and reaching nearly 400,000 plays on Soundcloud to date. Since this first release, Max has been steadily honing his production skills and building his studio, with the overriding aim of cutting back the computer's role in the creative process and leaving maximum room for musicality. He returns with the North Sea EP, delivering an outstanding collection of songs that blend live takes of hardware synths and drum machines with his own recorded instrumentation across bass, guitar, drums, and vocals. Title track North Sea opens the EP, warm, uplifting, melancholic, and driving in equal measures, perfectly bridging home and club listening environments. Love Is All You Get is next up. More warm, captivating ambiences and textures are the order of the day, creating a sonic landscape for the listener to get lost in, building to a vocal refrain worthy of Caribou. Final track Looped brings things to a close, eschewing the club and offering a cut of dreamy synth pop. A fitting end to a very musical EP. Witness the reaction that occurs when these two electrifying artists enter the same creative orbit. Joining them on this release are talents Miyagi and Danny Oliveira, for a stellar body of material. Pauli and Nolan are at their best on Atoms, delivering a wonderful piece of electronic music. The Instrumental Edition is all glistening arpeggios and cosmic pads; whilst these fuse with the soaring vocals of fellow Chapter 24 artist Reiver on the Original. The nature of atoms lies far below our powers of observation. Since atoms cannot be seen, their movements, too, escape us. As atoms travel through the void, they swerve from their course. Were it not so, they would remain forever isolated, and never meet to form the complexity of the universe. Providing his own swerve on the title track is Hamburg's Miyagi (Katermukke / Einmusika / SOSO), whose Edition focuses on a powerful, bass-laden groove which transports us until the familiar harmony takes over once more. The final connections are made by Brazilian Danny Oliveira, who returns to Chapter 24 with a cut of powerful, original and astute techno. Bumping beats interweave with chunky synths and dramatic top lines as we fall headlong into a musical black hole. There are only atoms and the void. So it goes. But hold a mirror up to the void and you will discover that it is by no means empty nothingness. It contains particles of light which flicker in and out of existence. Beyond the atoms, there is hope... released February 26, 2016

A key figure in Greek mythology, Perseus blazed a trail across the sky in his quest to defeat the Gorgons...a tale now reprised here, in Chapter 15. Our latest story in sound casts Sezer Uysal in centre stage. Artists across the creative realm frequently lament the difficulty of putting thoughts onto paper. In electronic dance music, it’s the producers whose quest is to battle the hardships of making the creativity of mind materialize on a computer screen. For Sezer Uysal, finding the right touch is more instinctual. His future written in the stars, he has been a regular on Suara, Hope and Manual Recordings. More great things lie in wait with the Rho Persei EP, for which he is joined by another hero of underground house music: Luis Leon (Blankhaus, Subjekt). The EP’s opener, Rho Persei, is a pulsating track. Blending disco guitar licks and haunting ambiences, it is built on a killer bass hook which opens out into synth work of mythic proportions. The odyssey continues as Sezer Uysal embarks on Bitter Struggle. Here, a chugging house groove built around swelling synth stabs is the order of the day. Undulating melodies unfurl, Medusa-like, masterfully executed. The third act comes with Space Egg, as we take to the skies. Sure enough, the artist never loses his head. Warm atmospheres abound in a driving piece rich in Sezer’s signature melodies. Luis Leon’s Cosmic Edition of Space Egg brings things to a close. A real treat, this refined house cut adds a vocal sample and finishes the story with a slab of beguiling and futuristic sounds. In all senses, a stone cold killer. Another epic tale on Chapter 24. released March 18, 2016

Words or phrases not only change their meanings over time, but can also differ depending on how we interpret them. We all have our own realities. We don't see things as they are, we see things as we are. Malbetrieb lets his music do the talking, never losing the thread, letting emotions be his guide. His instinctive approach recently rewarded him with his first full length album ‘Life in the Clouds’, featuring remixes by Sebastian Mullaert, followed up by 'Nim' on SoHaSo, 'Epic' on Chapter 24's first Seven Stories VA, and a remix of Sebastian Mullaert's 'Movement' - coming out on Kontra-Musik - scheduled for late 2016. For his first EP on Chapter 24, he presents a collection of tracks he made in one take, in the throes of inspiration. The productions are exclusively made on hardware, using a computer only to record the stems. They are captivating and communicative, both raw and refined. Title track ‘Meun’ is direct and engaging. A descending chord progression sets a dramatic scene before an expressive white noise rhythm takes the lead, interspersed with haunting background vocals and jazz-like disembodied melodies. ‘Keely’ is up next, decidedly more calm and collected. Elegantly restrained, it’s a classy techno cut which maintains the rawness and some of the tension of Meun whilst being gently hypnotic. ‘Crackwhore Streetchoir’ is a driving and dark techno track, with Malbetrieb’s signature white noise and atmospheres returning to the fore in support of a killer groove with an acidic edge. The EP’s closer ‘Brecht’ is a fitting coda to what has come before. Altogether more peaceful and settled, its exploratory and introspective melodies are an excellent set opener or closer. Words, by their nature, are only a rough approximation. Music, on the other hand, is a feeling. A search for pleasure. Music melts all the separate parts of our bodies together. It takes us to a place that words alone cannot go. Do not seek the because. Often in music, as in love, there is no because, no reason, no explanation, no solutions. And that is the greatest beauty of all. released May 6, 2016

The seventeenth Chapter brings together a cast headed by AFFECT! (Moodmusic, Chapter 24) and Maximillion (Tonkind) for an EP heavy on musicality. Polyhymnia was in Greek mythology the Muse of sacred music and dance. AFFECT! and Maximillion channel this divine energy into the EP's title track, an uplifting melodic piece rich in organs and bright synths. The original is accompanied by a set of Editions which each apply their own unique stamp on proceedings and result in a rounded, high quality EP. JOBE (Connaisseur, Selador) brings a more driving take on the original which gives it a cosmic edge. Stevie R and Alex Zed, founders of London's Inside Out Records, develop an intricate and organic groove for a more twisted, leftfield cut. Finally, young Peruvian talent Ly ChenG (Blankhaus) closes the EP with a wonderful piece of drifty, laidback electronica. For our eighteenth chapter, we welcome back two of our most popular artists from last year. At the time they were in the early stages of their careers; both have risen quickly since then. Rafael Cerato (Systematic, Suara, Stil vor Talent) continues his ascent in the electronic music scene, collaborating once again with fellow rising star THe WHite SHadow (FR), who picks up from his own Goodbye EP on Chapter 24 - the label’s bestselling release in 2015. Here they offer up three quality originals marked by the pair’s own unique style and ineffable grasp of groove and melody. ‘Memories’ and ‘Distance’ strike more emotional, club-ready tones while ‘ID’ is a pure dancefloor driver. This newly-forged French connection is joined by two giants of the Spanish house and techno scene. Marc Marzenit (Bedrock, Cocoon, Tronic) has been a staunch supporter of Chapter 24 right from the start and we are delighted to welcome him on board. Marc’s ability to impregnate sense and sensibility to more 'muscular' techno is once more on show in his Edition of Distance, sure to be a summer hit. Meanwhile, David Granha (Sincopat, Sudbeat, Parquet), one of Spain’s most respected underground producers, closes things off with a powerful techno rendition of ID. I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest". For our nineteenth Chapter, Atapy leads the charge with the powerful Redub EP. He is joined by three talented horsemen from the label ranks: Javier Orduña, Malbetrieb and Luis Leon. It's all about quality and not quantity for Atapy, with previous key releases on his own Cimelde label, Bedrock and Get Physical. ‘Redub’ is a powerful club cut that builds around heavy, dubby Detroit stabs bound to hit home on the dancefloor. Meanwhile, bonus edit ‘Redub to Space’ takes the original and softens it with a cosmic edge. New Chapter 24 family member Javier Orduna (also a member of the Jeudi, Culprit, and Moda Black clans) applies a bombastic touch with driving arps and interweaving synth lines. The release is rounded off by two quality turns towards techno from the label cavalry. First, Malbetrieb delivers an epic, melodic reinterpretation. Finally, Luis Leon steps up with a sophisticated, killer rerub that bears listening to time and again. The divine apocalypse? 'Tis the wind and nothing more!' Chapter 24 is back with a fine new story in sound from Oliver Schories. The German producer serves up one standout original and then gets remixed in great style by Marc DePulse, Third Son and Atapy. The Hamburg man is well known for his quality house and stripped back minimal sounds. He plays at some of the best clubs in Europe and has released on Parquet, Steyoyoke, Darkroom Dubs, his own label SOSO and many more. He impresses once again here with Artik, which is a broody cut with dark bass underpinning an arching groove. Subtle synth patterns flesh it out and spooky vocals really add an air of intrigue. Marc DePulse then strips it back to make it a deep and dubby roller that really gets under your skin. The fast-rising Third Son comes good once more with eight minutes of deep and spine tingling tech complete with starry melodies and big hi hat ringlets. Lastly, Romanian Atapy finishes things off in style with another spacious, warm and rolling cut that is deep and delicious. 'On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.

KatrinKa’s emotive, enticing and melodic grooves are a perfect fit for Gandey’s haunting vocals. The Nameless One is a bewitching follow up to 2015’s Beauty, a combination of dark languid rhythms and exotic scales. Meanwhile, How Does It Feel takes things to deeper, more techno-influenced dancefloors. The EP is completed by a set of powerful Editions by Chapter 24 artists Sezer Uysal and Stas Drive, with label newcomer and up-and-coming star Tim Engelhardt also making a big impression. Sezer Uysal (Suara, Manual) applies a cosmic and driving touch to The Nameless One, while emphasising the Eastern musicality of the original. Tim Engelhardt (Poker Flat, Cityfox) shares a dirty, groovy and sparkling vision of How Does It Feel, while Ukrainian Stas Drive (Sudbeat, Crosstown Rebels) transforms the track with big, bold synths culminating in dreamy pads. Luis’ outspoken sound with carefully crafted productions, poised basslines and striking synths is once again on show in a concept EP built around the theme of space. Opening things up, 'Eta Carinae' burns brightly. An organic groove underpins exploratory synths which echo into the void. ‘Betelgeuse’ follows and lives up to expectations, a massive, more driving track which hits home hard on the dancefloor over its eleven minutes. This symbolic offering is a vinyl-only package from Masaya, with an Edition by her close friend and frequent b2b DJ partner Ripperton. Masaya’s entire life is music and this really shines through across the four cuts served up by the Swiss-Chilean artist. As boss of her own label Mina Records, she is a real underground star who has been responsible for numerous great releases over the last ten years. 'Borderline' kicks things off and is nine minutes of spine-tingling deep house music with haunting vocals and wispy autumnal synths. Subtle and seductive, it is a killer opener to the EP. 'Picture' is then just as emotive and spiritual, with tender string sweeps and rolling rubbery beats mixed in with warm finger clicks to make for a hugely atmospheric house groove. The final original is 'Flow of Tears', which is again cavernous and deep, its sombre chords draped over gentle drums with whispered vocals that really mark it out as an evocative listen. Ripperton is the long time deep house star from Switzerland who runs his own Tamed Musiq and has a fine discography, releasing on the likes of Innervisions, Maeve and more. His version of 'Flow of Tears' captures the sound of futuristic house and techno in 2016. It is more direct and driven, with corrugated drums and loose limbed percussion lulling you into his autumnal groove. This is a brilliant EP from some of Switzerland’s finest, a fitting 24th Chapter offering four stories in sound. released June 16, 2017

The 11 track affair is an accomplished listen from start to finish. Masaya’s whole life is music. As boss of her own label Mina Records, she is a real underground star who has served up many great releases over the last ten years. This latest and greatest opus is a particularly personal one. Three years in the making and influenced by the birth of her son it is an album which draws on a rich range of musical references, truly 11 stories in sound. Starting with the atmospheric and beatless Walking Dad, the album sucks you in right away. From there The Backstage picks up the pace with a serene deep house groove featuring plenty of soulful chords and sombre moods. Agnostic is brilliantly sparse and deep, with well-crafted drums and cosmic synth patterns unfolding up top. Throughout the album, there is often a firmly rooted drum groove that keeps things locked to a late night dance floor vibe, and Haumea and Picture are perfect examples of that. Haunting vocal chops, shadowy strings and angelic keys colour pieces like Flow of Tears, Justin Loves and Inside, before the closing trio of Innocence, with its downbeat bass notes and wallowing vocal whispers, Borderline, littered with cowbells and synth drones, and Time Goes Fast, an optimistic closer complete with dreamy female vocals that leaves you feeling enlightened. Overall then this is a sensational and absorbing album that really showcases Masaya’s fantastic sense of mood and groove, leaving us excited for the album remixes package set for later in the year. Her story continues on Chapter 24. released March 10, 2017

Selected from Masaya’s recently released Picking Up The Pieces LP, one of the most refined tracks now has its moment in the spotlight, accompanied by reworks from three greats of the house and techno scene. Initially released on vinyl only last year, Borderline’s signature tension, atmosphere and ethereal vocal lines are reprised first by the internationally renowned Patrice Baumel (Kompakt, Crosstown Rebels, Afterlife). Typically, this Edition is a classy, peak time affair. A chunky groove sets things up before the inexorable climax, setting dancefloors ablaze in the process. Diynamic artist Johannes Brecht is next up. Fresh from his remix of Moby's Natural Blues and the chart-topping Voix Grave with Christian Prommer, the multi-instrumentalist producer delivers a standout Edition which is melodic, powerful and hymn-like. This piece presents him at his sophisticated and direct best. Last onto the stage is Irish-born Berlin émigré Neil Flynn (Lossless, Needwant). His Reduction Edition is a masterclass in minimalism, keeping the listener gripped as vocals evolve into synth lines and back into vocals again, all against a pared down techno backdrop. The Borderline EP presents a constellation of stars in one of Chapter 24's most significant outings yet. released April 7, 2017

Chapter 24 serves up a powerful 13 track album that finds a wealth of originals from Masaya’s debut, Picking Up The Pieces, getting the Editions treatment by top artists including Ripperton, Petar Dundov, Patrice Baumel, Johannes Brecht and many more. They make for essential listening. First out of the bag, Kurt Baggaley flips Walking Dad into a deep spine tingling number that will infuse and fill the dance floor with warmth and soul. Love over Entropy’s take on Haumea is deep but more driving, with slick synth modulations colouring the grooves, then Swiss master Ripperton builds lots of tension with his brooding techno remix of Flow of Tears. As well as a starry and cosmic Edition from Nhar, a tense and edgy take from Neil Flynn and a melodically excellent variation from Croatian Petar Dundov, the album includes a slow and haunting rework from David Durango and a skittish, broken beat kicker from Patlac. The final third of the collection hones in on simmering techno from Johannes Brecht, a loose house roller from VVerses and masterfully seductive and steamy tech house from Patrice Baumel. Closing things out in fitting style are a rumbling epic from Malbetrieb & THC, and Paul Nolan’s delicate take on Time Goes Fast. These works all breathe plenty of new life into the still standout originals from the Swiss Chilean artist and are sure to do plenty of damage on the dancefloor this summer. Building on their classical training and many years of jazz practice as percussionist and pianist respectively, Etienne and Raphaël join Chapter 24 with an EP that is a typically bold, heavily musical fusion of styles. Expressive and improvised musicianship is a common thread through the originals on the EP. Title track Prince Des Marais is a delicate dancefloor-oriented cut, built around a killer hook and rolling techno hats. It is followed by Luciole, a deeper exploration which conjures images of hazy summers and distant shores. Finally Epicéa closes the package, striking a balance between more driving beats and a strong sense of melancholia. A hefty dose of power is added to proceedings by John Monkman’s Edition of Prince Des Marais. Monkman - who graces some of the biggest labels in the game including Kompakt, Get Physical, Anjunadeep and Rebellion - is on a fine run of form and his remix marks out the start to a big 2017 for him. Finally, Chapter 24 bosses Sam Pauli and Más Black step up in the first in a series of Edits as part of their new VVerses project. The Luciole Fire Edit is a groovier, darker and more stripped down rework that retains the musicality and edge of the original. The first EP of the year for Chapter 24 lays out five new stories in sound of typically high quality as the stars realign and the signs of the future start to reveal themselves. released February 24, 2017

Artists Stevie R (OFF, Babiczstyle, Parquet, Inside Out) and DelFin (Motek) conjure studio magic in their collaboration on the Jalemba EP. The EP opens with the title track, a wonderfully atmospheric cut that allies heavy percussive rhythms with hypnotic tribal chanting and vintage synth harmonies. It is accompanied by another original, Lepa Sela, a deeper, mysterious and engaging affair with liquid, found sound grooves. The remixes on the package befit this stunning pair of originals. First up, the in-demand Mathias Schober, boss of Lossless and man of a thousand disguises, contributes a couple of bombs in the form of his Rhythm Sequence and Rhythm Rework. The former grabs the headlines as a peak-time affair, whereas the latter offers a pleasing, chunky heads down groove. Next to provide Editions are Rancido (Innervisions, Connaisseur) and newcomer Juan (Kindisch). Rancido adds power and punch to Jalemba in trademark style, ensuring the track cuts through on any dancefloor. Meanwhile, Juan delivers a powerful Afro re-rub of Lepa Sela that brings the curtain down on an impressive EP. released July 21, 2017 Percussion on Jalemba by Greg Rawson.

Leon Power - All I Want (Manuel Tur Edition 2) (6:39) 05.Kieran Apter - Elle (8:03) The opening of the 27th Chapter sees the revelation of Scottish artist Kieran Apter’s sophomore ‘All I Want’ EP, featuring Editions from Aera (Innervisions, Hivern Discs) and Manuel Tur (Innervisions, Freerange). Newcomer Kieran is hotly tipped for success, having come to the attention of some of the best artists in the scene as head honcho and resident DJ for Edinburgh house and techno party ‘Tweak_’. Opener ‘All I Want’ is a standout composition, featuring the vocals of singer/producer and Nicolas Jaar collaborator Leon Power. It is followed up by the instrumental ‘Elle’ which, more arpeggio-driven, shares the same spiritual feel and electronic soul as the title track. The Editions on the EP are worthy of the original material. Between them, Aera and Manuel Tur have amassed classic releases on labels as seminal and worthy of reference as Innervisions, Hivern Discs, Freerange and Running Back. Aera’s Edition blends afro techno, chopped vocals and a beguiling synth sequence to winning effect, in a version heavy on dark drama. Meanwhile, Manuel Tur turns in two versions, both equally stunning. The first is driving and twisted; the most dancefloor-oriented track on the EP. Meanwhile the second makes the very most of the original’s vocals, placing the focus on live instrumentation and a disco groove. A stunning and versatile package, we are proud to be a part of launching Kieran Apter's artist career and are excited for what's to come. released September 1, 2017 Artwork by Simon Vaeth.

Now based in Copenhagen, Norwegian artist Djuma Soundsystem was catapulted into the public's consciousness over a decade ago with his club classic 'Les Djinns' on Get Physical Music. His organic, sample-heavy signature sound is the perfect combination with fellow Copenhagen artist Westerby’s rougher, analogue synths and techy edges. ‘Disambigua’, their much-anticipated follow up to smash hit ‘Koma Kobache’ (Get Physical), is a standout cut which is already turning heads on dancefloors across Europe with its dark groove and killer vocal hook. Rising star Jonathan Kaspar (Objektivity, Pets Recordings) is first up on the Editions, where he takes things deep. Built around the interplay of synth lines in call and response, his rework is a pure bass monster. Meanwhile, label regular KatrinKa marks her latest release on Chapter 24 with an Edition that places the emphasis on a trademark infectious groove, paired with a spiritual melodic motif; a perfect balance of darkness and light. The package is rounded out by Aaaron. The in-demand producer has worked with everyone from Defected and Get Physical to (more recently) Connected and Yoshitoshi. JOBE - previously responsible for one of Chapter 24’s biggest-selling tracks ‘Aurora’ - has released as widely as Akbal Music, Connaisseur and Steyoyoke. On this occasion, he serves up a balanced four-tracker combining cosmic, afro and techno influences. ‘Rafari’ is the opener. Marked by characterful sound design and swirling disembodied tribal voices creating a strong sense of disorientation, the track is held together by the hefty and assured drive of the main groove. ‘Anomaly’ showcases a more considered side to JOBE’s production and marks a shift of emphasis to harmony and composition, as layers of synths swell skywards before their satisfying return to earth. Meanwhile, ‘Boma’ is a return to the tense, cosmic afro drive that is bound to set dancefloors aflame, before title track ‘Changes’ rounds things off with a powerful slab of progressive techno. Four stories in sound that demonstrate JOBE as being totally unconcerned with the constraints of genre, and entirely fixated on creating music that is both timeless and forward-thinking. released November 10, 2017 Artwork by Simon Vaeth.

This time, the head honcho and resident DJ of Edinburgh party ‘Tweak_’ delivers four standout original cuts, with an Editions EP slated for later in 2018. The EP rolls straight into title track ‘The Mirror’. Hooky percussion and warm cosmic reverb atmospheres give way to a relentless bass and synth stab pattern guaranteed to get dancefloors grooving. ‘Without’ sees Apter resume his successful collaboration with Leon Power. Power’s trademark haunting vocal and production marks a driving and emotional, forward-looking track. ‘Babylon {Club Dub}’ is next up, melding punchy drums and rolling bass arpeggios with wistful synth lines and chorus-drenched vintage pads. Closing things out is ‘Remember’, the artist’s tribute to those who lost their lives or were otherwise affected by London’s Grenfell Tower disaster. This dark, dislocated piece of techno samples words spoken by British-Jamaican dub poet Linton Kwesi Johnson in the aftermath of the 1981 New Cross Fire and channels Apter's anger and sadness at last year’s horrific and avoidable human tragedy. All profits from sales of ‘Remember’ will be donated to the British Red Cross London Fire Relief Fund. The trio - composed of Riccardo 'Cap' Cappelli, Riccardo 'Ohm Guru' Rinaldi and Luca 'Lu-Me' Mercatali - combine their musical and technical experience to create an original and captivating sound, which has become a favourite with the likes of Tale of Us, Fur Coat and André Hommen. Here they serve up an impactful five-tracker. Title track ‘Lunare’ offers a peak-time euphoric flourish, marrying timeless, transcendent trance chords with an afro techno roll. Meanwhile, 'Till The End Of Dawn' arrives in two flavours, with the Africa Dub replacing the eerie spoken vocal with clarinet and congas - both versions packing a punch for late night dance floors. They are followed by 'Kalimba', which is similarly marked by a combination of techno and organic, percussive touches in a deep and exploratory piece. 'Desert Rose' is the deepest, most laidback and textured of the pack. Stunning, evocative sound design beckons the listener to lose themselves in a dream-like world. A fitting closer. Apter, a label regular hotly tipped for success as the head honcho and resident DJ of Edinburgh house and techno party ‘Tweak_’, is joined this time by four heavyweights who make a big impression. Co-owner of Maeve, The Drifter is a DJ and producer of the highest order. He opens the book with an Edition of the title track which pairs bombast and dancefloor drive with a heavy dose of cosmic disco goodness. The first to rework ‘Without’, Apter’s collaboration with Leon Power, is Hamburg’s very own Doctor Dru. The track is a masterclass in deep, propulsive and forward-thinking house music that makes full use of the haunting and evocative vocal of the original. Next, ESP Institute, Futureboogie and Culprit artist and hero of Ibiza’s We Love… at Space, Ian Blevins presents a deep, contemplative and emotional meditation for the afterhours as his reimagination of the track. Domenic Cappello closes the EP out. The legendary DJ and mainstay of Glasgow’s Sub Club recasts ‘Without’ through layered and interweaving arpeggios that are reminiscent of Larry Heard. The package sees the Diynamic regular present his fresh and innovative sound on an EP that bridges the tech and deep dance realms with the worlds of jazz, funk and soul. Title track ‘Cuore’ is a showstopper. Full of drive, tenderness and ultimately optimism, the piece tells a very personal story for the artist and affirms the power of keeping an open heart. Next, ‘Rocky’ offers something darker and deeper - an ode to a hero from the artist’s youth. Huge, dramatic synth riffs are the order of the day, full of panache and flair. Meanwhile, closer ‘Sunny Day’ is another stellar number, richly laden with choppy piano riffs on a bouncy tech groove. Once more, there remains a sense of positivity that all will be well in the end. CERPINTXT - Tsari (5:51) 11.Stevie R feat. Djanan Turan - Misirlu (4:15) Musician and producer Stevie R makes a welcome return to Chapter 24 Records with his Melt album, in which he showcases a desire to bring back ‘rebetiko’ - the little known, underground ‘blues’ music of his native Greece, music that was often outlawed due to its anti-establishment themes. As its name suggests, Melt is a melting pot of sounds and an intricate journey through the musical cosmos, an enticing and alluring soundscape that captivates the listener and invites them along for the ride. “Melt is the story of 13 animals trying to go to space. Each animal is a figure in the artist's life, accompanying the others on the difficult journey. Nobody knows where space is, what it looks or feels like. To me, space is where our fears disappear, our loved ones stand beside us, and the fights in our mind cease. Nevertheless, there is a different journey for each and every one of us, our Universe is unique and the animals always look different; in this journey we travel alone.” - Stevie R Melt is Stevie R’s platform to bring the rebetiko music that he was raised on, sounds that he believes are a real healing tool, to a wider audience. On the album he worked alongside the Egyptian poet and glitch producer CERPINTXT and Turkish singer/songwriter Djanan Turan. The album unites the music from his childhood with music from Greece’s neighbouring countries - Egypt and Turkey. The album opens with the ambient melancholic sounds of Stépa, where dark strings are interwoven with euphoric horns. The vocal hook is a sample from a Greek theatre play that translates to “kiss me, my light”. Stevie R explains that “the song represents purity, creation, fertility and unconditional love”. Delias feat. Djanan Turan & Master Dani begins with an abundance of earnest strings with a mesmerising beat and sensual vocals. It is a tribute to Anestis Delias, one of the forefathers of rebetiko, who met a sad and untimely death in his early 30s. It features the alluring vocals of Djanan Turan and the skilled string work of Master Dani. Asprúla steers the journey into more electronic territory - bubbling synths and a bouncy bass are interspersed with those unmistakable stringed textures. Gkii, written alongside Egyptian poet CERPINTXT, is a call and response song between the melodies of both Greek and Egyptian instruments, a cross-cultural dialogue that marries the two in a beautiful union as the track unfolds. On Gunii, Stevie uses a slow, chugging beat, intertwining traditional sounds with analogue synthesisers. The album then moves into the next part of its story with Bótsa Bótsa, once again featuring the spellbinding vocals of Djanan Turan. It’s gripping, intense and thought-provoking. Madilo brings together the elements of light and dark. A crescendo of cymbals and tinkling percussion sit neatly together with glitchy, whirring synths. Red Lemon is overflowing with percussion against the backdrop of a heady bassline. Acid Tri takes the album back into more electronic territory, fast-paced and layered with the enthralling vocal talent of Djanan Turan. Penultimate song Tsari is the beginning of the end of Melt’s journey. A powerful plethora of sounds sit atop a growling bass. Intense and rhythmic, it’s slow burning and chaotic with somewhat supernatural vocals. The album closes with Misirlu, the perfect antidote to its predecessor. The pace is slowed and a calm ambience adds to its presence giving the listener space to breathe, whilst instilling an essence of reflection, asking the listener to take stock of the journey that they’ve been on. Was it all a dream? Stevie R’s masterful ability to tell a story is omnipresent in all of his work. Infusing a modern electronic beat with the traditional sounds of his home country, Melt proved to be a rather cathartic process for Stevie. He arrived in London from his native Greece at the age of 21 to study music at Point Blank. Now a popular tutor at that very same school , Stevie’s musical career is about to explode. In the last year alone he has played alongside musical behemoths including Apparat, Fritz Kalkbrenner, John Talabot and Martin Buttrich. His live shows, which he’s taken to E1 London, Electric Brixton, Ministry of Sound, Sisyphos and ADE, are a multi-sensory journey - a theatrical experience, much like a concert with musicians and singers. In his productions, Stevie incorporates a broad spectrum of instruments such as traditional Greek tzouras and baglamas, a variety of guitars, acoustic and electric violins, field recordings and modular synthesisers. This ability to conjure emotion and weave a sonic tale is why his music is so perfect for Chapter 24. Launching in 2014, Chapter 24 pushes music with meaning. The name is taken from chapter 24 of the ancient Chinese divination book, The I Ching. Their goal is to release music that is a fusion of different sounds from all corners of the globe, music that tells a story and evokes deep-rooted emotions from within. Each release features the magical and mythical illustrations of Simon Vaeth. These transport you back to the days of your childhood, fantastical fairytales and dark fables. released March 15, 2019 Written by Stavros Potamitis. Mastered by RB Mastering Studios. Reprising the formidable partnership which has seen them release on the likes of Diynamic, Suara and Jeudi Records, the trio deliver yet more heat with the ‘Pangea' EP. Three big originals appear alongside a stellar Edition from Thodoris Triantifillou, who rejoins the label on remix duties for the first time. Our latest stories in sound begin with title track ‘Pangea', a hefty dose of mesmerising hypnotic synths and low end weight that culminate with a peak time break. ‘Pannotia' subsequently offers a darker follow up that is no less powerful or widescreen. Placing the emphasis on a hooky vocodered stab and a heavy snare pattern, it really hits home. Completing the trio, ‘Rodinia' is a hands in the air affair: dreamy pads envelop soaring synths over a trademark chunky groove. It is followed by Thodoris Triantifillou's glorious rework which picks out Pangea's synth line and laces it with organic drums and an irresistible sub. ‘Brigado' comes from the Word ‘obrigado', meaning ‘thank you' in Portuguese. Ed Begley - The Myth of Tarae (3:12) 10.Anton Dhouran - Odyssey (4:24) Chapter 24’s second album release comes from young Parisian composer Anton Dhouran. Born into a family of movie-makers and having grown up dreaming of writing music for film, the 23-year old has turned his hand to making cinematic dance tracks. His success so far has seen him sign to labels such as Diynamic, Jeudi and The Soundgarden. Dhouran’s first full-length LP, 'The Myth of Tarae', is typically epic in its breadth and narrative, effortlessly melding the combination of electronic, instrumental and cinematic styles for which he has become known. In keeping with the cinematographic thrust of the work, it is accompanied by a short film which matches the music in its scope and ambition. The film, which scores the album’s powerful title track, is a project overseen by Dhouran with the aim of raising awareness of the current plight of the environment. Both music and film share an apocalyptic, haunting but ultimately uplifting quality. True to Chapter 24’s ‘stories in sound’ ethos, the ten-track LP is fuelled by a desire to take listeners on a journey. Opener 'This Is Us' sets the tone, offering atmospheric electronica, acoustic guitar and live drums, before the moody synthesis of 'Valhalla Rising' picks up the pace into early standout 'Amenestra', featuring Etienne Girardin. 'Inception' channels Radiohead’s ‘Paranoid Android’ as haunting, psychedelic Spanish guitars are balanced with warm synth lines which tread the line between melancholy and optimism. 'Isle of Arava' and 'Praetorius' both continue the album’s motif of flute instrumentation, while the epic 'A Kind of Light' is a mythical voyage in its own right. The album closes with the more driving 'Lost in Charcot' and the outstanding title track featuring the transportive vocals of London-based singer Ed Begley. 'Odyssey' provides a dramatic finishing note, a summation of the atmosphere and emotion riven throughout the piece. All told, this is a combined album and film release that should fire the imagination of listeners and viewers, and marks the continued rise of the talented Anton Dhouran. A remixes album is forthcoming in 2018. released December 8, 2017 Mastered by S² Production House

Ed Begley (Konvex & the Shadow Celestial Edition) (7:27) In the aftermath of Chapter 24's second album release – The Myth of Tarae by young Parisian composer Anton Dhouran – comes the Editions package. Dhouran's debut full-length LP is typically epic in its breadth and narrative, effortlessly melding the combination of electronic, instrumental and cinematic styles for which he has become known through labels such as Diynamic, Family N.A.M.E. and The Soundgarden. Here the outstanding title track is reworked by three big hitters, each inspired by, and giving pride of place to, the transportive vocals of singer Ed Begley. First up is Third Son, who marks a return to Chapter 24 with a standout driving, techno cut. The microCastle, Last Night On Earth and Polymath star delivers a pulsating track with a huge, detuned orchestral payoff which has been destroying dancefloors worldwide for many months. Next is Olderic, the Venetian DJ and producer who has carved an enviable reputation for his productions on the likes of Connaisseur and Siamese as a solo artist, and on Get Physical and Innervisions in tandem with studio pioneer Andrea Doria as Stereocalypse. Olderic’s Edition hits his immaculate standards, being both innovative and forward-looking, heavily percussive and deeply trippy. AZZUR label bosses Konvex & The Shadow close things out with a double helping of goodness. Their Rodeo Edition* is furnished with a huge distorted arpeggiated bassline, swelling harmonies and excellent use of the original vocals. Meanwhile, their Celestial Edition offers soft chords and a more mellow, gently 80s-influenced dimension. These are stories in sound for the ages, re-telling The Myth of Tarae for all comers to hear. released May 18, 2018 Original artwork by Simon Vaeth.

We breathe, we eat, we sleep. We seek connection. These are our basic human needs. But there is one more need we all share, and it centres on stories. All across the world, stories are being recounted everywhere, in every imaginable way, at any given time. For telling stories is at the very essence of what it is to be human. The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun. Beginning with Overcoming The Monster, Chapter 24 has gathered artists from across the globe to bring these themes to life for its Seven Stories VA series. Up-and-coming Dutch producer and Paradigm resident Malbetrieb (SoHaSo, Selador) opens proceedings with ‘Epic’. Fiendish acid licks intertwine with soaring vocal pads and uplifting top lines in a driving, melodic track. One of the biggest producers in Ukraine, Stas Drive (Hope, Sudbeat) is up next with the titanic ‘Aphrodite’. A tribal tech groove pounds forth, underpinned by brooding and mysterious atmospheres. Enter Dragon Suplex, a twin-headed tune producing beast from Switzerland who deliver the third track with ‘Mystified’ feat. Samzing. Another behemoth, this one is equally dark and banging, bringing a good dose of tension to proceedings. As the compilation advances to its denouement, a little brightness starts to pierce through the storm clouds. Hailing from Peru, a breeding ground for young talent in the underground house scene, Frank Serin strikes a more hopeful tone with ‘La Sonrisa de la Mujer’. ‘Somnium’ by the London-based Chapter 24 boss Sam Pauli and label regular Reiver enhances the dreaminess on offer. A drifty, hypnotic and emotive cut unfolds into a tremendous, musical break. Finally, the compilation ends with a focus on French producer Anton Dhouran. Having already been signed by Diynamic and with music forthcoming on Jeudi Records, Anton deploys his considerable skills on ‘Meyah’, a deep, groove-laden number enhanced by ethereal pads. The real story, however, comes with ‘A Kind Of Light’ which closes the narrative with a heroic instrumental tale. They say that there are only seven basic plots but a thousand different stories. And so, as the storyteller utters that age old, magical formulation, "Once upon a time...", let yourself be carried away… released April 8, 2016

The universe of stories can be broken down into seven basic plots which underlie all stories ever told. Recognising these patterns is the gateway to unravelling the universal symbolic language from which all storytelling is spun. With Rags To Riches, Chapter 24 returns with seven stories in sound collected from artists across the world to bring these themes to life. The compilation begins with Oliver Schories, a titan of the scene who regularly bestrides labels such as Suara, Stil vor Talent and his own SOSO. ‘Eno’ is an arp-led driving track overlaid with a hooky cut up vocal that perfectly sets us on our way. Darin Epsilon (Renaissance, Sudbeat, Hope) brandishes his own thunderbolts with ‘Jenova’, an effortless and deep cut of musical techno that sparkles with hints of summer. JOBE (Connaisseur, Selador) is up next with ‘Aurora’, exemplifying his both timeless and forward-thinking approach to production. A killer sub line takes hold over cosmic atmospheres. The cornucopia of treats continues with the addition of newcomer Roundhead, a highly talented 22 year old Italian producer who delivers the massive ‘Durante il Viaggio’. Analogue synths are coupled with outstanding organic elements. Einmusika and Chapter 24 artist Christopher Ivor’s dreamy and emotional ‘Back Home’ retains the organic and instrumental features, coupling them with his signature grooves - before label regular KatrinKa adds her own wistful, evocative contribution with ‘Fragments’. Finally, Danny Oliveira makes his return to Chapter 24 in combination with his partner George Gomes with his new act, Shades of Light. ‘Sierra’ is a widescreen and ambitious piece: deep, dirty and beautiful music to rule the cosmos. Revisiting crossover hits such as Patlac's rework of Kurt Baggaley's 'Winterland' via lesser known gems including Danny Oliveira's 'Saikin Do', the selection also brings forth more recent, impactful work from the likes of JOBE and Manuel Tur's celestial Edition 2 of 'All I Want' by Kieran Apter. Masaya and Stevie R each feature twice, with their creations illuminated by the likes of Love over Entropy, Petar Dundov and Matthias Schober. Meanwhile, Amentia and Luis Leon offer their own standout moments. The tales spun here invite you to get lost in the narrative, to step into another world…to re-emerge from reveries with new insights and altered perspectives. A return to house and techno that you can believe in. released August 3, 2018 Original artwork by Simon Vaeth.

Edition) (10:03) In the first of Chapter 24's Editions compilations, the label has invited a select group of talented artists to reimagine some of the original tracks from its first five releases. First up are French duo Melokolektiv (Crosstown Rebels, OFF), whose edition of Crystals by QUARTZ is tense, bumping, full of groove…finally resolving in an emotive peak. A surefire winner in mixes, podcasts and on the dancefloor. Chapter 24 co-founders Sam Pauli and Paul Nolan are next up with their take on Stargazer by Danny Oliveira. A relentless, pounding techno groove takes hold before twice yielding to a sea of warm and hypnotic pads. Finally the groove takes over once more to carry us ashore. With previous releases receiving support from the likes of Dixon, Maceo Plex and Hernan Cattaneo, Cologne-based Marten Sundberg steps up. He takes The Owl by Twelve Minds into darker, techno territory via a breakdown of some epic proportion. Sunshine pierces through the clouds as perennial Beatport chart regulars Alec Milliner and Darren James aka Framewerk take us to altogether warmer climes, bringing their own brand of deep house to bear on the excellent Echo Gnomic by KatrinKa. London-based producer and good friend of Chapter 24 Darien J turns in a fantastic edition of Start Over by Sam Pauli and Paul Nolan, which retains the uplifting spirituality and 'take them to church' vibe of the original, while placing a greater emphasis on a powerful bassline. Finally, Editions One closes with another reinterpretation of KatrinKa's Echo Gnomic, this time by Berlin-based AFFECT! (Moodmusic, Save Us) who ends this first issue of the compilation by delivering a drifting, dreamy edition of the original. The Editions compilation brings the first phase of Chapter 24 releases to a close in what has been a fresh and promising crop, leaving us excited with what is to come. Kicking things off is Rafael Cerato's interpretation of KatrinKa's Beauty, featuring vocals by Billie Fountain. Cerato (Systematic, Stil vor Talent) puts a dark, techno spin on the original in a track guaranteed for maximum dancefloor impact. David Alexander is next up, and maintains the momentum with his rerub of Danny Oliveira's Stargazer. The Edition reflects DA's style perfectly, skirting the dark and driving side of Deep House, infused with signature basslines and haunting synths. Canada's Van Did (Herzblut, Sudbeat) then takes the reins with his take on Goodbye by THe WHite SHadow (FR). Showcasing the skills which have installed him as one of his country's brightest underground talents, he creates a tense, layered and atmospheric piece of melodic techno. Another Danny Oliveira Edition follows next, this time of the huge Saikin Do. Up-and-coming German producer Someone Outside (Tenampa, ARDOR) steps up to the plate with a huge and chugging techno cut, building to an entrancing melodic climax. New York-based Naveen G (Cityfox, Listed) picks things up with an epic reinterpretation of The Owl by Twelve Minds. Starting with widescreen soundscapes, the track narrows in on a pulsating groove, interspersed with moments of drama. The duty of closing out this second compilation falls to Anton Dhouran, a young emerging artist from Paris, who, by age 20, has already signed to various labels such as Diynamic and Manual Music. He doesn't fail to deliver: his Edition of Aspice by Sam Pauli & Reiver takes us to the skies, wondrous pads anchored by rolling 808 bass, percussion and guitar lines. released October 23, 2015

It was inspired by the story of Kajura, the name given by the Ingarda people to the Rainbow Serpent in the Aboriginal mythology of Australia. Legend has it that the Rainbow Serpent came from beneath the ground and created huge ridges, mountains and gorges as it pushed upward. It is understood to be of immense proportions and is in control of life's most precious resource, water. When a rainbow is seen in the sky, it is said to be the Rainbow Serpent moving from one waterhole to another and explains why some waterholes never dry up when drought strikes. On his trip, the artist was also inspired by natural phenomena such as the Desert Rose, a beautiful flower which blooms in the middle of the arid wilderness, and the Garden of Eden, a verdant oasis in a canyon close to Uluru Rock, the lush greenery of which casts a stark contrast against the orange rock formations. And so the story of Kajura, the Rainbow Serpent, reminds us that we can find life and beauty in the unlikeliest of places. released February 22, 2018
