The releases are short bursts of experimental sound art, which give listeners the opportunity to listen to a full conceptual work when time is of the essence. Audio Gourmet has also released the occasional full album in the form of compilations, limited edition CDrs and solo artist material. Tracklist:
01. Spheruleus - Rusting (6:09) 02. Spheruleus - Stalling (3:54) 03. Spheruleus - Brittle (4:56) The first release on the Audio Gourmet netlabel is from label owner Harry Towell under his Spheruleus guise. As Spheruleus, Harry has recently had a limited-run CD album released on Under The Spire (www.underthespire.co.uk) and has another forthcoming on Hibernate (www.hibernate-recs.co.uk). This fifteen minute ep showcases his typical production approach and sits somewhere in between the different styles of sound design to be heard on these two CD label releases. For the Rust E.P, Harry has fused treated instrument takes of zither, vibraphone, guitar, trumpet and harmonica with drones and field recordings. The mood of the ep is light and mellow; designed as an audio representation of the rust process. It would have been all too easy to portray this with a much darker approach to sound art, but instead the pieces sound as if content to 'rust' away slowly as time elapses. The process of rusting is a slow and subtle degradation of a building, vehicle or object as it gradually head towards uselessness. This ageing process sits in line with the ephemoral existence of the physical human being and in many ways, our metallic creations reflect our own temporary lifespan. The very nature of ephemorality can be a saddening and daunting fact but when accepted, the mere simplicity of existence can be truly savoured for what it is. Don't be bogged down with the unnecessary clutter that we humans weigh ourselves down with and enjoy one of life's most basic yet vital requirements - to draw breath and exist. released May 4, 2010 Music by Harry Towell Photography by Jonathan Lees ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Darren Harper - Fields and Glass (6:40) 02. Darren Harper - Leaves and Piano (8:14) For the second Audio Gourmet release, we welcome talented American ambient artist Darren Harper to our roster. Darren has had several albums out on the Earth Mantra netlabel (www.earthmantra.com). He's also got work out on and collaborates with Jacob Newman under the guise Frequent Sync. To assist his forthcoming full album release on Earth Mantra, he has treated us to this exceptional E.P of top drawer ambient music. First up, 'Fields and Glass' serves as the darker half of the E.P, fusing environmental field recordings from the far east with a complex and eerie drone. Darren used these open-source field recordings as part of an 'unconscious collaboration' with his unsuspecting studio partner to tap in to the recording environment, by adding his own atmospheric interpretation of the recorded events. There are a lot of open-source sounds available from around the world and it is fascinating to think that these recorded fragments of time can be used freely for artistic expression by artists that have never met the person behind the source. The second track on the E.P is entitled 'Leaves and Piano' and features a delicate looped piano composition with restful drone accents. This piece is incredibly beautiful and its flowing, subtle repetition of the piano loop guides the mind to a lulling meditative state. Darren Harper is a highly talented artist and a name to watch out for. His work continues to better itself with each release; Audio Gourmet is delighted to include this magnificent E.P to its catalog of releases. Enjoy... released May 11, 2010 Music: Darren Harper Photography: Jonathan Lees ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Damian Valles - Umbra (8:55) 02. Damian Valles - Penumbra (Nearly There) (6:05) For the next 15 minute E.P, we welcome Damian Valles to our catalog with a pair of gloomy electro-acoustic dronescapes.Damian has had releases out on Under The Spire, his own imprint Rural Route and more recently, the stunning 'Bow Echoes' which is available for free download on Resting Bell. Damian is a multi-instrumentalist from Canada and throughout his discography you will find that he is more than capable of producing various types of electro-acoustic/ambient music to a very high quality. A testament to this is the fact that 'Bow Echoes' has surpassed the 30,000 download count! For his E.P on Audio Gourmet 'In The Shadows Of The Occluding Body', Valles has explored darker territory than in previous releases. Throughout this atmospheric 2 track journey, the overall listening experience is riddled with a sense of doom as Damian explores an array of carefully sculpted guitar-based drone textures. This really is an excellent piece of work and we are extremely pleased to be able to bring it to your ears through Audio Gourmet. The fact that Damian Valles has released an E.P through the Audio Gourmet netlabel collection hints that we mean business as a label - long may we continue to present you work from artists of this calibre! released May 17, 2010 Music: Damian Valles Photography: Jonathan Lees ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Vincent Kühner - First (4:26) 02. Vincent Kühner - Second (2:16) 03. Vincent Kühner - Third (2:37) 04. Vincent Kühner - Fourth (4:36) Our next release is this four track E.P from a Greek artist called Vincent Kühner, who has lived in London for the last two years. He is also responsible for running the Felt Collective label, which served as the platform from which his first album, the lengthily titled 'No Minute Gone Comes Ever Back Again Take Heed And See Ye Nothing Do In Vain' was released in April earlier this year. Vincent Kühner has been experimenting with ambient music production over the last four years, honing his craft working towards releasing his debut and preparing a follow up for this. 'Hiatus' is the follow up to his first release as an artist and is now available for free download here on the Audio Gourmet netlabel. The E.P is comprised of four numbered pieces, chronologically ordered and each with its own unique character. These have been titled with numbers to withhold any obvious conceptual theme, thus allowing you as a listener to unfold your own thoughts and ideas as you listen. The first and last piece on this piece are epic drone soundscapes, drenched in effects and tiny detail. 'Two' is a short field recording and 'three' is the most experimental, fusing fuzzy undertones with quirky chord stabs. This is an excellent follow up to Vincent Kühner's debut release and serves as an example of the kind of high quality experimental ambient music we can expect to hear from him in the future. released May 27, 2010 Music: Vincent Kühner Photography: Vincent Kühner ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Foci's Left - Regurgitated Impulses (2:46) 02. Foci's Left - Eternal Sands (2:18) 03. Foci's Left - Regurgitated Impulses (David Tagg Remix) (2:01) 04. Foci's Left - Regurgitated Impulses (Darren Harper Remix) (3:30) 05. Foci's Left - Regurgitated Impulses (Spheruleus Remix) (4:22) The next artist to be welcomed to the Audio Gourmet netlabel roster is Foci's Left, the production pseudonym of Muttley who is renowned for his SubVersion blog. This E.P features an 'A' and 'B' side of ambient production works he has crafted over the last three years, with remixes from a selection of established artists. The SubVersion blog has amassed a huge amount of posts since May 2009 and throughout his catalog of well thought out and assembled mix tapes, he has made many an acquaintance in the ambient community. In addition to these mixes, the blog also brings views of science and politics. You can visit here to learn more: www.subvertcentral.com For his debut release as Foci's Left, the EP opens with 'Regurgitated Impulses', an arrangement of ambient synth chords that changes direction regularly over its short duration. The 'B' side is a spacey synth sample arrangement, further exploring textures that the artist assembled to invoke peace within its listeners. Both tracks arose from emotional storms, where a close family friend of the artist was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, self-harming, with suicide a nearby exit gate. Of course, this was a tough time but it renewed the closeness of his family as a strong unit. To help cement his debut EP together, Muttley has selected three established artists to remix the opening track 'Regurgitated Impulses'. First up, a two minute interpretation from the Install recordings label curator David Tagg. This piece spans a restful audio palette that says a lot in such a short space of time and is a testament to why David is so highly revered in the scene. The next artist to rework the opening piece is Darren Harper, who recently released the 'Momentary' EP on this very label. Darren has reworked sections of 'Regurgitated Impulses' into linear drone passages that are so typical of his talented approach to ambient music production. Finally, the EP draws to a close with a stormy drone remix from Spheruleus that adds an extra dimension with the use of some of his trademark field recordings. Audio Gourmet wish Foci's Left every success in whatever ventures he explores in the future. With extra thanks to the talented artists providing remix duties. released June 15, 2010 Photography by Jonathan Lees ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Alvari Lume - Inner Voice (7:05) 02. Alvari Lume - Night Poems 2 (3:27) 03. Alvari Lume - Water Song (5:09) As the Audio Gourmet netlabel catalog expands with the weeks and months that pass, I am delighted to push the label in a new direction with the inclusion of this stunning EP from Finnish guitarist Alvari Lume. Alvari Lume is the artist name for guitar experiments from Jaakko Saavolainen, who mostly performs live either solo or with other musicians. He also is responsible for running a successful experimental music club called TMK. 'Ennen' is part one of two EP releases for Audio Gourmet and showcases a selection of three experimental guitar pieces I selected from the artist's Reverb Nation account. All of these tracks are past productions and span the last few years of Alvari Lume's recordings. 'Ennen' means 'then' in Finnish and is an apt title given that the recordings are all selected previous works from his catalog. Fortcoming for the future will be the 'Nyt' EP, meaning 'now' in Finnish; this will feature a selection of pieces that Alvari Lume is working on specifically for the Audio Gourmet netlabel, to show where his music is at currently. Within the three experimental tracks on 'Ennen', your ears are in for a treat. This is crafted entirely from the recorded sound of his live and improvised guitar and the fact that there is no additional electronic manipulation is a testament to his outstanding talent as a performer. released June 20, 2010 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Michael Trommer - Icefield (6:59) 02. Michael Trommer - Sun Comm (8:47) Michael Trommer is a Toronto based producer and visual artist who has recorded for a variety of respected labels, including Transmat, Wave, Ultra-red, and/OAR, Audiobulb, Truffle, Stasisfield, Interchill, Monocromatica, Serein, Thinner and con-v. He records experimental material under his own name, as well beat-oriented music as 'sans soleil'. Michael's gallery-based audio installation work has been shown internationally. Exhibitions include Australia’s ‘Liquid Architecture’ exhibition, ‘from 0 to 1 and back again’ at Kunsthalle Schirn in Frankfurt. 'art:tech 2009' in Cordoba, Spain, Brazil's 'FILE' festival and 'soundLAB VI' in Köln, Germany. Most recently, his material has been included in Dodi Nash’s ‘Listening Shell’ installation, on exhibit at London’s Victoria and Albert museum. A site-specific audio installation is being exhibited in New York state’s upper Catskill forest (www.restlessculture.net/deepwoods ) from the end of May. The inspiration behind the recording process and EP title 'Greyfield' references greyfield land, a term used in the United States and Canada to describe economically obsolescent, outdated, failing, moribund and/or underutilized real estate assets or land. The term was coined in the early 2000s as a way to describe the sea of empty asphalt that often accompanied these sites, which may also be referred to as "dead malls" or "ghostboxes". 'Greyfield' is an ongoing project which investigates the acoustic trace of these spaces; its most recent incarnation is based on sounds recorded in Toronto's downtown underground pedestrian network. This network, known as the PATH system, is recognized as the world's largest underground shopping complex. It traverses the entire downtown core and interconnects many notable buildings, including Mies Van Der Rohe's Toronto-Dominion Centre complex and Santiago Calatrava's BCE Place galleria. Though the intent and sound of the pieces may reference sound art, the techniques employed in the creation of the pieces bear similarities to those of a live remix. Sounds are collected using a variety of dynamic and contact microphones, and immediately downloaded to a laptop where they are processed; the final pieces are then improvised on location as a soundtrack to the space's apocalyptically empty, surreal cinema... released June 22, 2010 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Ibreathefur - Waking In Sync (5:24) 02. Ibreathefur - A Curvature (4:17) 03. Ibreathefur - Tulip (5:10) Ibreathefur is the ambient/experimental project name of Chris Spearman, based in South East England. Earlier this year, he has had a split cassette release with He Can Jog on the Luvsound Records sublabel Wolf Interval and this Autumn, he is due an EP CD release on the brilliant Under The Spire label (www.underthespire.co.uk). Other on-going projects include composing for live art performances and independent film. Here for his EP Audio Gourmet, 'Phosphenes' is an example of the sort of finely-woven ambient drones that you can expect to hear from him. A few words from Chris on the concept behind this brief but highly compelling listen: "These three tracks are inspired by the sensation of light that can occur without light actually entering the eye; a phenomenon known as phosphenes. I tend to experience phosphenes when I am in a transitional state between wakefulness and sleep (especially on long train journeys), with abstract patterns manifesting themselves seemingly within my own eyes. Even though these light patterns seem random, my mind in its half-sleep state associates an equally-as-abstract sense of beauty and understanding to them. Occasionally these phosphenes cross over into actual dreams, and forms begin to emerge out of the light." We hope you enjoy this superb free E.P from Ibreathefur and support Chris's future output off the back of hearing this stunning piece of work. released June 28, 2010 Produced by Chris Spearman Artwork supplied by Chris Spearman ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Entia Non - Penultimate Teather (4:43) 02. Entia Non - When The Land Settles You (6:44) 03. Entia Non - Nicklin's Gate (3:33) Next on Audio Gourmet, we welcome talented Australian sound artist James McDougall, under his Entia Non guise. James lives in an elevated residence somewhere within Queensland, Australia and his work is typically focussed around his superb field recordings. His output has been nothing short of prolific, straddling between netlabel releases and physical CD packages. These excursions have included notable projects out on labels as diverse as Slow Flow, U-Cover, IOD, Duckbay, Ripples Recordings, Mystery Sea, Resting Bell, Test Tube...and that's just to name but a few! Although typically his recent work has been centered around his field recordings, James has himself recorded projects with additional 'ambient' sounds and collaborated with other artists such as Sylvie Walder to create gorgeous sonic experiments. In the future, a release is penned with talented Japanese ambient artist Hiroki Sasajima, due out on Unfathomless. For this short EP on Audio Gourmet, we're presented with a deep exploration of James's sound recordings through three beautifully paced tracks. 01. Mark Rushton - Bellsketch (3:20) 02. Mark Rushton - Fieldsketch (4:10) 03. Mark Rushton - Owlsketch (7:20) American artist Mark Rushton, based in Iowa City, Iowa has released four solo albums, two albums with bassist Jon Harnish and one album with the improv collective Ambient Matyk. Rushton has also presented original and live music in his semi-regular podcast at markrushton.com since 2004, and his music is the soundtrack for the interludes in the short fiction podcasts at Boundoff.com. He lives in Iowa City, Iowa, USA. Some words from Mark about his release: “The “Three Sketches” were created using a blend of field recordings, software, synths, and loops. They are what I call 'linear recordings' in that they don't have an arrangement, just a mix. They are like a straight line. You step on as the sounds are happening, and then you step off at the end. There may be minor variation throughout, but usually not enough to significantly divert the attention span. I listen to these sorts of pieces while concentrating on matters at work or enjoying a walking break outdoors. I have many hours of free music available for those who wish to further investigate my work.” released July 16, 2010 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Shaula - Gate Of Fulfil (7:31) 02. Shaula - Gate Of Ivory (7:39) Audio Gourmet is delighted to welcome Japanese artist Shaula to its ever expanding catalog, with these excellent two electro-acoustic ambient tracks. Shaula is best known for debut album 'Haze', released earlier this year on the excellent Under The Spire imprint (www.underthespire.co.uk) and this is her first excursion since. Haze was a limited CD release featuring some excellent electro-acoustic drone compositions with subtle underlying field recordings, reminiscent of works by the likes of Pillowdiver. I have heard that a follow up album is on its way later this year on Under The Spire; in the mean time, here we bring the free EP 'Oneiroi' from this superb artist. Biographically, little is known about Shaula as the artist prefers to let the music do the talking. With Oneiroi, we have two thoroughly well designed ambient pieces. 'Gate Of Fulfil' is chiefly composition based - looped electro-acoustic patterns merge into a sleepy meditative track. Then 'Gate Of Ivory' heads down the drone route, with its blurred electro-acoustic origin. This is a superb EP and an indication of the continued high calibre we intend to bring to this netlabel. I would like to thank Z at Play My Tape for arranging this release and to also promote Shaula's podcast on Play My Tape, which can be streamed or downloaded here: playmytape.net/page.php?id=87 released July 23, 2010 Photography by Jonathan Lees, who runs Hibernate Records and the Rural Colours netlabel ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Beginnings - Hazy Heat (9:45) 02. Beginnings - Common Cold (3:50) Beginnings returns with two tracks for Audio Gourmet that capture his experimental nature and melodic guitar style. Recorded in the same sessions as the 'Waiting On The Weather' EP, recently released on the Rural Colours label. 'Hazy Heat' is an improvised jam between guitarist Jon Frost and drummer Andrew Lennard where the two musicians coax each other into building an almighty crescendo. Layers of melody and waves of distortion rush past until the noise collapses and leaves 'Common Cold' to play out with schewed guitar loops and laid-back strums. Hope you all enjoy these excellent two tracks from this talented artist! released July 3, 2010 Recorded at Nick's shed in late 2009. Mastered by Christopher Leary at Melograf Mastering. 01. Spheruleus - Driftwood (6:39) 02. Spheruleus - Seafoam (8:15) For his second EP on his own Audio Gourmet netlabel, Harry Towell has put together this stormy and atmospheric two tracker under his Spheruleus guise. 'Driftwood/Seafoam' features the usual treatment of instrument recordings and accenting field noise: 'Driftwood' starts the EP off in a serene fashion, fusing sounds of a now broken zither, an old wind-chime instrument, hiss, drones and an oboe sample. 'Seafoam' explores stormier territory, with its array of guitar sounds warped and re-arranged into a wash of murky feedback. released August 3, 2010 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Philip Sulidae - Autumn In Town (4:25) 02. Philip Sulidae - Rotten Wood and Clothes (5:51) 03. Philip Sulidae - Forgettin What's Been Lost (4:44) Philip Sulidae is a sound artist from Sydney, Australia who is steadily increasing his profile within the scene, thanks to his magnificent sound design. His compositions typically comprise of densely layered dark drones, punctuated by an array of field recordings. He has previously released music on Audiotalaia, Ripples Recordings, Dontcaresulidae and now with 'Hidden and Tied', he provides us with 15 minutes of free music here on Audio Gourmet. 'Hidden and Tied' opens with 'Autumn In Town', a mysterious and stormy multi-layered drone piece that is so typical of Sulidae's work. 'Rotten Wood and Clothes' somehow manages to yet further build the tension of this gradual and eerie record. The EP closes with the slightly more tonal 'Forgetting What's Been Lost', an immersive and slowly unfurling closing piece that brings a shrill calm to this brooding 15 minute record. This is a stunning example of the kind of quality we intend to keep bringing to you via Audio Gourmet. Philip Sulidae is an artist of the highest calibre and we expect great things from him through the future as he further hones his craft. He has recently put together a mix of just over half an hour's music, as a transmission of murky drones for Play My Tape. It is a mix equally as exquisite as Philip's EP for Audio Gourmet and is the kind of mix that will have you going back for repeated listens: released August 7, 2010 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Model Citizen - I (7:51) 02. Model Citizen - II (5:24) 24Bit Model Citizen is the ambient/minimalist solo project of Adam Williams, based in Gwespyr, North Wales. Adam records everything himself at home, using a variety of instruments such as guitar, keys, circuit bent toys, field recordings and a computer. Here for this fifteen minute EP entitled 'The Duke Of Lancaster', Adam sculpts his sound-sources into two beautiful and eerie drone soundscapes designed to pay homage to this former passenger ship. The Duke Of Lancaster began service in 1956. In its heyday, the Duke was a busy passenger steam-ship and traveled between Britain, Belgium, the Scottish Islands, and as far as Denmark, Norway and Spain. After a spell as a car ferry, the Duke was moored in Llanerch-Y-Mor, North Wales and was briefly employed as a fun ship. Once this ended, the Duke of Lancaster was left alone and is now slowly rusting, unused in a dry dock. released August 18, 2010 Cover photo by Hannah Richards. foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Small Things On Sundays - The Crow Warns: You Should Not Be Here (4:59) After a brief pause on Audio Gourmet, we return with AGN016 'Recalling', by Danish duo Small Things On Sundays. The Small Things On Sundays project is spearheaded by the Copenhagen based Henrik Bagner and Claus Poulsen. This artist has several releases available, varying in style across each album and over several weeks, we've been in discussion about getting together an atmospheric ambient EP depicting the quintessential characteristics of this talented duo's work. Finally, here it is in all its glory: 'Recalling', three tracks of high quality otherworldly and cavernous ambient drones. This is a thoroughly atmospheric listen from start to finish and although it has the typical short timeframe that comes as standard with Audio Gourmet releases, this record seems to draw out time through this short duration. released August 31, 2010 Music by Henrik Bagner & Claus Poulsen Mastering by Claus Poulsen Cover by Artwerk cc 2010 For this EP, Henrik's daughter Sara chose the track titles for tracks two and three. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Specta Ciera - Hiding In The Low Lands (4:57) 02. Specta Ciera - Foot Bridge (6:13) 03. Specta Ciera - Disappearing (2:59) Specta Ciera is a project pseudonym of American experimental sound designer Devin Underwood. His work typically comprises of ambient drones, field recordings and avant garde electronics, although he is keen to experiment through different techniques as each release comes out. Throughout his discography, Devin has self released his material periodically and has albums signed to labels such as Distance Recordings, Project 168, Secret Station, Circles and Lines Recordings, Luxus-Arctica Records and most recently, Earth Mantra. His most recent production to date, is this 15 minute 3 track EP for Audio Gourmet, 'Meadow Returns'. It opens with the graceful yet quirky 'Hiding In The Lowlands', featuring gentle sprinklings of piano composition, sprawled with electronic synth manipulations. This piece sets the scene in a warm and light hearted fashion, before the following pieces 'Foot Bridge' and 'Disappearing' explore more minimal, field recordings based territory. This is a truly fantastic EP from Specta Ciera and we're delighted to bring this talented sound designer to your ears via Audio Gourmet. 01. Lexithimie - Flesh and Stones (8:42) 02. Lexithimie - Glass and Blood (6:08) 24Bit Next up on Audio Gourmet, we welcome French ambient sound designer Alexis Bechu, under his Lexithimie artist banner. Over the last year or so, he's had some excellent work released on Hibernate, Resting Bell and Rural Colours to name but a few, with his output spanning a wide range of dense drones and field recordings. Now for Audio Gourmet, Alexis has put together this two track EP that sees him head in a darker direction with the main concept being to try to get the listener to confront their deepest fears face on. The soundscapes here are dense, dark and murky but there is plenty of detail throughout these two pieces to get to grips with. Chimes, glitching electronic sound effects and field recordings serve to punctuate the atmospheric drones to be found within this EP, with interluding moments of suspense adding balance to the overall body of work. 01. Deep Into Perspectives - Abandoned Town (4:40) 02. Deep Into Perspectives - Morphing Dream (5:24) 03. Deep Into Perspectives - Lucid Glass (4:54) Deep Into Perspectives is ambient and experimental artist Kent Nymann, hailing from Oslo, Norway. Through ambient drones, melodic elements and field recordings, he intends to search for pure artistic expression. All sounds are handcrafted and layered gradually during the production process, eventually serving as dense, detailed soundscapes as each finished piece is completed. Deep Into Perspectives has served us this three track exploration of a more pure ambient sound, specifically trailored for Audio Gourmet. The basis of these were formed from past recordings Kent had in his 'vault' of sound, and then gradually built upon through several layers of newly recorded accent takes. Thus, 'The Lost Tapes' have been born, free for your enjoyment... 01. David Velez - Division 1 (6:12) 02. David Velez - Division 2 (7:51) 24Bit David Velez is a Colombian sound artist whose work focusses on the use of field recordings, dealing with textures, landscapes and objects. His work has been released on labels such as Test Tube, Ripples Recordings, Mandorla and Rain Music among others and he is also a staffer on the field-recordings based label Impulsive Habitat. Currently residing in Bogotá, David is taking a Master in Fine Arts where he is focusing on sound installations. Through this ongoing Master David developed the idea towards art that in some places rhetoric is more important than the actual work itself and this concept gave the title to this release. 'Vacío Retórico' is as good an example you're likely to hear of the kind of high quality field recordings based sound work that David Velez is renowned and respected for; it is a sheer pleasure to have an artist of his calibre grace our catalog. released September 25, 2010 Image photograph taken by David Velez, West Point NY With thanks to Harry Towell, Lina Velandia, Juan José Calarco, James McDougall, Pedro Leitâo, family and friends. foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

For this netlabel release, we haven't dropped the set in stone criteria of the classic 15 minute Audio Gourmet EP...we've kept it intact, with this 15 strong collection of minute long ambient pieces. I've approached a selection of artists who have either released on the netlabel before or who are new to Audio Gourmet yet notable for their work on other labels. The compilation flows through modern classical piano moments, ambient drone pieces to quieter interludes and field recordings. The concept of this body of work sits perfectly in line with that of the Audio Gourmet netlabel itself and is the perfect example of the fifteen minute coffee break EP. For each artist, I have written a very short introductory blurb highlighting selected areas of their discography and a brief description of their minute-long piece on Coffee Break Ambient (Volume One). Click 'Info' by each track, to read more... When all of the submissions were in, they were passed to Byron Felt who records as Vincent Kuhner, who mastered them. So a big thank you to Byron for his hard work! Enjoy... released October 5, 2010 Mastered by Byron Felt ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Hessien - Passing You-Bye (5:44) 02. Hessien - 500ml (4:55) 03. Hessien - Fly South For The Winter (4:00) The muffled voices in the walls and the murmurs behind doors of Hessien continue on "Broken" — the new release on Audio Gourmet. Something of a departure from recently released material, this outing sees a subdued and distant approach to the melancholic side of implied melody. The dirty windows display looped field recordings, sustained acoustic delay and the fragile vocals of Jane Sage; the dark hallways are layered, wide-open passages that create the impression of motion. The rotting staircase is flickering static and kaleidoscopic distortion, leaning into organic textures and echoing reverb; all affected with a layered, instrumental composition that gives the sense of coming from or going to a faraway place. The letters under the floorboards are the three tracks waiting to be uncovered —three compositions leaning towards organic textures and blissful drones. They remain disguised until they are eventually discovered, released from imagination. The rustling in the bushes indicate that Hessien are currently finalising their debut album, due out in Autumn/Winter 2010. The bones in the backyard mean that "Home Is Where The Ghost Is" is released on Handstitched*; an ultra—limited CD run of 100 copies, packaged in digipack CD wallets with artwork by zenbullets. released October 15, 2010 ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Alex Durlak - Lowing (Section 3) (6:07) Next up on Audio Gourmet, something a little different from Toronto based artist and musician Alex Durlak. Alex is responsible for running a printing company and record label, Standard Form. It is here where the 'Rural Route' 3" CD series is based, with the label's curation being managed by Damian Valles. The entire Rural Route catalog is manufactured in-house and it was here where Alex Durlak had his first release. So to the follow up to his work on Rural Route...a 15 minute EP of gritty bass guitar drones which will please fans of dark ambient, drone and experimental music. This EP entitled 'Lowing', was constructed entirely with a bass guitar which was ran through a self-written granular synthesis patch in real-time. There was no additional processing and editing was kept to a minimum as to preserve the integrity of the performance. Given the minimalist production techniques, this 3 track EP turns out to be surprisingly detailed as a whole. There is an air of mystery to the recordings that is underpinned throughout by a wealth of powerful gritty elements. As is often the case, a brief 15 minute excursion on the Audio Gourmet netlabel will usually serve as a warm up for something bigger lined up by the artist...and Alex has informed me that his next venture will be a one sided 12" record as the first part of a new series called 'Long Form'. This will be on Standard Form; curated by Alex himself. released October 26, 2010 Written, recorded and produced by Alex Durlak Photography by Alex Durlak ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Carl Sagan's Ghost - Before I Go (Part One) (7:41) 02. Carl Sagan's Ghost - Before I Go (Part Two) (7:38) For our 24th release, we are delighted to welcome Carl Sagan's Ghost to the Audio Gourmet netlabel catalog. Carl Sagan's Ghost is Daniel Davis from the USA who has had work released on Earth Mantra, Soft Phase, Circlesandlines and Luxus-Arctica Records International. Since the early nineties, Daniel has been heavily involved with music of varying styles from ska bands right through to the beautifully crafted ambient soundscapes he has built a reputation for recently. Although he possesses an immense talent with producing ambient, as an artist he feels that he shouldn't focus entirely on one style of music. So he has just a couple more ambient releases scheduled for release before he heads off in a different direction with other musical projects and ideas. 'Before I Go' is one of the last projects as Carl Sagan's Ghost for the time being and is an aptly titled ambient/drone EP in two parts. For Audio Gourmet it represents a slight change in style of ambient, after the recent dark and more vacant material. It is warm, refreshing and thoroughly well put together... released October 29, 2010 Carl Sagan's Ghost - Before I Go (parts one and two) Recorded August 2010 in Spokane, Washington Photography by Daniel Davis ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

The work is a continuation of the conceptual drone-based sounds of "Koom" and "Foel" that was released on the Handstitched* imprint in 2009. This continuation sees the recycled use of original source material, layers and processed sound created during the making of the pre-mentioned releases. Collectively, "Tintinnbulate" as a body of work travels and drifts through a distant rumble and sub-level murmur which force dense fragments of distorted melody from within the body of each piece - this content remains intentionally corroded and disjointed from the human ear - cascading into more a more audible, crystalline landscape. Each piece is framed within its own floating horizon; it appears visible close-up but subsequently out-of-focus at the furthest point. In the layering of sound there is the natural aspect of field recordings, continuous static and human-influence which surround the listener and create a vast expanse of experimental and applied sound. released November 12, 2010 Music written and recorded by Tim Diagram Photography by Tim Diagram. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Headaches - Itsoundslike (Part One) (7:55) 02. Headaches - Itsoundslike (Part Two) (5:35) 24Bit Next up on Audio Gourmet, we've this stunning 2 part drone EP from Headaches, called 'It sounds like' Landon Speers, the guy behind Headaches gives a few words on the creative process behind this body of work: "The track is one form of a semi-improvisational piece that can be played with many different outcomes. In an effort to utilize aleatory in my work, I put together 96 samples from a Casio keyboard. I arranged them into eight groups of twelve melodic elements ranging from lows to highs. Each group can be played/programmed separately or in unison with any other of the eight groups. Altering how samples are played, the piece can take on various forms; from slow and droning to fast and percussive, rendering the potential for as many ways to perform it as there are chances too." And describing the sound he creates, Landon says: "it sounds like the process of dying and my particles turning into light and they're shooting up to the sun- they keep going faster and faster until they reach space where things start to slow down; not because I'm actually moving slower but because the scale of everything is growing and I'm getting smaller along it- the track starts getting more distant and icey as it tails off and eventually I'm away from everything familiar and there's a sense of isolation and cold I've never known and then it all just sort of dissipates into…" released November 18, 2010 All music written and produced by Landon Speers. 01. Herzog - Small Loves (4:28) 02. Herzog - Aubade (5:21) 03. Herzog - Once They Know (5:03) Herzog is the solo artist project of Bill Bawden from South London, UK. Many will be familiar with his work on the likes of Resting Bell, Serein and 12Rec and we are fortunate to be able to bring his latest work to you through Audio Gourmet. 'Small Loves' is a short set of musical vignettes inspired from childhood. For example, the front cover is a photograph taken from the artist's bedroom window, reminding of watching rain droplets 'race each other' across a car window whilst on a long journey. In fact, it was the auditory memories of rain/car/radio/motorway that inspired Bill to craft this sonic portrait of that moment in time. The main musical influences for the work of Herzog are cited as being Fennesz, William Basinski and Colleen as well as bands such as Low, Mogwai and The Microphones. Bill's musical tastes are eclectic however and so influences can come from almost anywhere. These many musical influences bleed into the work of Herzog, as a melting pot of different tones and textures. The three tracks that make up 'Small Loves' were created from a simple acoustic loop, which was manipulated for a long time until something different and unexpected was coaxed out of it to form the backbone of each piece. Many of the clicks and pops that arise through the process of cutting up the various samples have been retained, making for subtle extra detail. Over-distortion and clipping effects have been put back into the mix, at a lower volume to further extend the textures you can hear in 'Small Loves' I am told that Herzog is slowly working on his first full length album, so much to look forward to! For the meantime, feel free to explore and enjoy this magnificent EP.... released November 30, 2010 Written and produced by Bill Bawden Photography/Artwork by Bill Bawden ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Gimu - Beluga 1 (8:06) 02. Gimu - Beluga 2 (6:10) For the final Audio Gourmet EP release of the year, we welcome a little-known sound designer from Brazil called Gimu. His earlier music career was based around a pop/electronic band called 'Terrorturbo', in which he was lead singer. As the members of the band went their separate ways over time, Gimu found himself left alone and unsure as to what would be his next move. It was at this time, that he'd grown very tired of lugging equipment around, endless wires, instruments and even of the sorts of chord progressions and conventional aspects of playing that had been the mainstay of the band. He had in fact grown tired of writing 'songs' altogether and began to seek new methods of artistic expression through sound. He decided to strip away all of the structure and rhythm of these 'songs' for his solo work, concentrating on ambient soundscapes with a focus on repetition. He began a fascination with how repetition can take you to a new level of consciousness to the point where you suddenly feel as if you are listening to things that may not even be present in the recording. For his debut EP here on Audio Gourmet, Gimu has assembled two beautiful tracks that are a perfect representation of the sort of soundscapes he has been inspired to produce in his quest as a solo sound artist. Through the two tracks on 'Beluga', Gimu tributes this work to close friend Patricia; a constant voice of encouragement and support to his music. This soundtrack is thematically based around the dead dreams of a biologist, the ocean and hope... We hope you enjoy this body of work and keep an eye out for future output from this emerging talent! released December 14, 2010 Written and produced by Gimu With special thanks to Patricia ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Paper Relics - Requiem For Home (4:41) Paper Relics are brothers Harry and Stuart Towell from a small town in Lincolnshire UK, called Bourne. As well as running the Audio Gourmet netlabel Harry is a sound designer recording as Spheruleus. Stuart is a self taught multi guitarist with several years' experience. As Paper Relics, the brothers manage to combine their differing musical backgrounds as a hybrid of Stuart's blues, jazz, rock and folk influence and Harry's involvement within the modern ambient music scene. Here we present their debut EP 'Recovered Artefacts', which should serve as a light introduction to their sound and nod towards the arrival of their first full album, which will be out later in the year. Thematically, this EP is based around a photograph of the Malvern Hills that was taken by Stuart on a weekend away. After treating the image to make it look antiquated, the pair agreed on the title 'Recovered Artefact' as with the addition of vintaging effects, it looked very much like an old and long forgotten photograph. After arranging the tracks into order, the duo began to think about what they felt the EP was trying to say as a package of music and treated photographic imagery. They got a vision of an elderly man discovering this old photograph of the tiny town he grew up in. Throughout the decades of his lifetime, the man had watched it change completely with constant industrial and commercial development turning the beautiful village it once was into a large and busy town. 'Recovered Artefact' tells the story of a man and his town as he reflects over the years of change and development that has turned this once picturesque village into something he no longer recognises... released January 11, 2011 Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar (Lead), Recording: Stuart Towell Acoustic Guitar, Violin, Field Recordings, Sound Design: Harry Towell Photography: Stuart Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Tone Color is Manchester based artist Andy Lomas, whose influences of Brian Eno, Harold Budd, Ulrich Schnauss, Raster Noton, Cocteau Twins, Ymo and 12k spill into his work which takes on a loosely ambient/electronica feel on the whole. He has had work featured on a compilation album on Earth Monkey back in 2007 and also, he contributed a minute-long piece for our Coffee Break Ambient compilation that was released last year. It is from the piece for the Coffee Break compilation 'Less Than Zero' that we began discussing the possibility of a full 15 minute Tone Color EP to come out on Audio Gourmet. Andy provided us with the full length original version of this and took the time to shape the fragments of sound on his computer into the soundscapes that make up this fantastic EP. released January 25, 2011 Photography Jonathan Lees, Cragg Vale Photography (www.craggvalephotography.co.uk) Mastered by Byron Felt, The Felt Collective (www.feltcollective.com) ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Jukka Vakkinen-Kannonen - Yksi (7:45) (24Bit) 02. Jukka Vakkinen-Kannonen - Kaksi (5:38) Jukka Vakkinen-Kannonen is a former TV documentary director who currently lives in Tampere, Finland. He now works as a computer technician assisting small architecture studios with IT services. Initially intrigued by the work of local heroes Pansonic and Mika Vainio and then later by the work of György Ligeti, Iannis Xenakis, Arne Nordheim and Bernard Günter, Jukka started to perform and record short improvisations using sine waves and field recordings that he originally captured for his documentaries. To accompany his work, he refers to the texts of German philosopher Martin Heidegger "...a place that the ideas and sensibility behind what I do seem to perceive as very familiar." After four years and many hours of archived sounds accumulated through improvised sessions, he decided to edit them into a two-piece sound release titled Improvisaatioita Kanssa Siniaanet which simply means 'Improvisations With Sine Waves' What is interesting with Jukka's work is that instead of the at times irritating and shrill sound that we often associated with sine waves, he has painstakingly carved out a pair of viscous soundscapes that manage to coax out a sense of calm and transition between his several years' worth of source material. Transition seems to be Vakkinen-Kannonen's main concern when working with sound as we can learn from his quotes below: "The notion of time is acquired in the passage from one moment to another not in the moment itself." 01. Coldstream - The Asleep (4:54) 02. Coldstream - Delivery (5:40) 03. Coldstream - 10, 11, 9 (4:22) Coldstream is the ambient-music project name of London based sound artist Dan Mumford. He has previously released his work through the likes of the marvellous Under The Spire and Rural Colours imprints and now for Audio Gourmet, he has turned his creative ears towards putting together this short EP called 'The Asleep'. As the title suggests, this body of work is themed closely around sleep and dreams - a much explored and familiar concept throughout the ambient music scenes. It is not something that you'd associate with the classic fifteen minute EP duration...all too often this topic is reserved for the longer, more explorative duration of the full CD-length album. In this short timeframe however, Dan has managed to weave in a wealth of dreamy mystery within three heady drones. They can be listened to late at low volume, inducing a lulling sleepy state or at a louder volume for a more conscious exploration of his thoroughly melodic work. To round this EP off, we have been allowed by a photographer and artist called Georgina Richardson to use an image for the front cover that really encapsulates the loosely defined conceptual intentions of 'The Asleep'... released February 1, 2011 Written and produced by Dan Mumford Cover artwork by Georgina Richardson: www.flickr.com/photos/georginarichardson/ Mastered by Byron Felt ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. The Inventors Of Aircraft - The Depths (Don't Be Scared) (2:43) 02. The Inventors Of Aircraft - The Arc Of Visibility (6:13) 03. The Inventors Of Aircraft - Back and Fill (6:28) 24Bit The Inventors of Aircraft is a London based music project helmed by Phil Tomsett and here with 'Lull' we are proud to present three tracks of fine ambient music, themed around the sea. With 2008 debut 'Unknown Language' out on the old Serein netlabel and then last year's follow up 'As It Is' on Resting Bell, the Inventors Of Aircfraft project is slowly gathering momentum. It is inching along further still with the inclusion of the three-track EP 'Lull', here on Audio Gourmet. 'Lull' was recorded during what turned out to be some fairly intense sessions in Phil's studio between December 2010 and January 2011. Through these sessions, around 15 pieces of music were collated at various states of completion and it then became an issue as to which he would choose to fit the bill for a fifteen minute Audio Gourmet EP. Throughout the recording process, Phil became unintentionally aware of some kind of sea voyage theme, with flickering imagery of giant ships hauling themselves away from the quayside and powering through the water running through his imagination. When the sessions were complete and the time came to chose the final three tracks for the EP, the sea voyage theme had remained. This prompted the overiding nautical theme to be written into the track titles and the cover artwork too. Phil would like to extend his gratitude to Ian Hawgood who showed amazing speed and dexterity with the mastering on 'Lull'. As with the Resting Bell album 'As It Is', Ian's mastering job really brings the EP alive... released February 10, 2011 Mastered by Ian Hawgood (www.homenormal.com) Cover Artwork by Phil Tomsett foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Simon Whetham - Cold Shoulder (Part 2) (6:45) Simon Whetham has been capturing and composing almost primarily with field recordings since taking part in a research trip to Iceland in 2005. Since then he has been gaining a steadily increasing profile: exhibiting in Iceland; recording in the Amazon Rainforest of Brazil; performing at a large number of festivals and events, both nationally and internationally, notably the recent Madeiradig 2010; having work accepted for release by labels such as Cronica, And/OAR, Dragon's Eye, Con-V, Trente Oiseaux, 1000fussler, Mystery Sea, Entr’acte, Install, Lens and Gruenrekorder; commissioned by Creative Labs to build a surround sound installation to demonstrate their equipment and software; commissioned by painter Kathryn Thomas to compose a surround soundtrack to accompany her ‘Lightyears’ series of exhibitions; producing radio works for Resonance FM, Overlap.org and Kunst Radio Austria; and invited to participate in two residencies at the Art Container in Tallinn, Estonia, the second to compose new work, collaborate with other artists using sound and run deep listening, field recording and compostion workshops. This residency has resulted in ‘Active Crossover’, a touring exhibition and exchange project which continues to tour through 2011 in four further exhibition spaces across the UK. Future events and projects also include a performance at Experimental Intermedia in New York, and running field recording workshops in Bogota, Columbia. Simon is based in Bristol, UK, where he has lived on and off for 14 years. Whilst much of his work is based around his travels, Simon took time out to record some sounds within his locality to make up an Audio Gourmet EP called 'Cold Shoulder'... For four months Simon lived facing an industrial area of Bristol called St. Philips, where on quiet evenings he would wander around the buildings, listening to the city, but from somewhere very still and lifeless compared to it's daytime activity. Of course, as we all know, these areas are never silent. These nocturnal sounds of an area, normally crashingly loud, are the raw materials of 'Cold Shoulder (Parts 1 and 2)' Simon has also put together a bonus track continuing from where he left off with this EP and it will be available to download as part of a forthcoming compilation album here on Audio Gourmet. released February 18, 2011 Recorded and produced by Simon Whetham Photography by Simon Whetham ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Their debut album then followed on Somehow Recordings later in 2010. Sadly for the duo, Kate has decided to call it a day as part of Listening Mirror for personal reasons, leaving Jeff to carry forward the project. For one last excursion as the Listening Mirror duo, Jeff and Kate have assembled a two track EP called 'Wet Roads' to commemorate their work. The pieces act as bookends, with 'Wet Roads' being the very first piece of music they recorded together and 'The Organist' being the last. To some of you, 'The Organist' in particular may feel quite familiar; this could be because a one minute edit was featured on the Audio Gourmet Coffee Break Ambient EP released last year. Whilst this EP will always serve as space to reflect on how their sound first started out, we can thankfully anticipate a bright future for Listening Mirror as Jeff fully intends to carry forward the project. The first solo excursion penned for release is to be a 3" cdr EP in an A3 folded poster, recorded as a tribute to the late Throbbing Gristle legend Peter Christopherson. This will be out very soon on Heat Death Records: www.heatdeathrecords.co.uk A final word from Jeff on this EP: "I'll miss Kate's input, the beauty and talent of which is evident in both of these tracks. 01. Julien Demoulin - Time Out (7:15) 02. Julien Demoulin - H&D (0:30) 03. Julien Demoulin - Thaw (7:10) A French sound artist who also records as Silencio, Julien Demoulin is welcomed into the Audio Gourmet fold with this short EP called Fanø. Recorded under his own name, Fanø is an EP that explores a variety of sounds through atmospheric textures and onto beautiful droning soundscapes. The concept for the EP was inspired by a particular visit to Fanø, an island off the west coast of Denmark on which he has close friends. Everytime Julien visits the island he feels more and more at peace with himself. Recently, he was feeling extremely sad and confused but couldn't understand why. Upon arriving at Fanø which at the time was coated with snow, he slowly started to make sense of this situation and understood what was required to improve his situation. As he walked along the beach, this realisation set in as the snow slowly started to melt away. As a homage to friends on the island and that particular trip, Julien's EP for Audio Gourmet intends to capture the essence of Fanø in the hope that its peace invoking aura transfers to all who listen. released March 8, 2011 Written and produced by Julien Demoulin Photography by Julien Demoulin ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

With a new set of tools and the cold and dark Norwegian winter came new inspiration for this follow up EP to last year's 'The Lost Tapes'... The result is 'Vintage Noir', a project inspired by movie-scores and the dark winter mood. The noise-textures are field-recordings from old media such as magnetic tapes, film, vinyl recording and noise from electric and mechanical devices. 01. Creation VI - Astrosole (5:01) 02. Creation VI - Hydrogen (9:24) 24Bit Creation VI is an ambient/drone project for Ukrainian sound artist Tim Six, started in 2006. The main aim of the project is to discover the properties of music as a tool for expressing nonverbal concepts. The first such notions arise in philosophy, mysticism and of course, in all kind of creativity. Power of ambience is practically inexhaustible, so every aspect in which there is a need of musical thinking, finds its particular expression. so the music of Cretion VI may vary from dark and ritual ambiences to weightless, transparent drones. 'Planetary Nebula' was recorded with guitar and some reduced voices, with delay and reverb used for creating a continuous flow of sound. This work explains the genesis of planetary nebulae in the form of sound. From astronomical observations, we know that these bizarre clouds of ionized gas are the remnants of a stellar atmosphere ejected by the explosion of giant star. We can express the numbers, we can capture the spectra and images but the actual feeling of being inside the nebula, experiencing its movement, display of colors and energy is difficult to capture. Throughout the passages within these two tracks, the Creation VI project intends to musically depict this atmosphere and allow the listener a further insight into experiencing planetary nebula... released March 22, 2011 Written and produced by Tim Six Cover artwork by Tim Six Mastered by Byron Felt foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Words and sounds have different meanings depending on the listener, but only if they take the time to delve into the complexity of their own stimuli. Contributing an EP that fully encapsulates this, Portuguese field recorder Luís Antero contributes 'Life' to our catalog. The recordings were taken in two locations: Arganil and Oliveira do Hospital in Portugal. These were then arranged as the four tracks that comprise this EP. Each piece represents an individual part of the natural world. Through two minutes and fifty seconds of gentle sound, this collection will instill a relaxed state amongst the listener and is best listened to through headphones. Aside from engaging in field recording activity himself, Luís Antero is actively running a netlabel of his own, called Green Field Recordings. The fascinating label centers on pure field recordings from artists and locations across the globe: greenfieldrecordings.yolasite.com released April 19, 2011 Luís Antero: pure field recordings Photos: Luís Antero / Artwork: Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Alex Tiuniaev - On The Elusive Nature Of Time (4:22) With a fragile and beautifully composed four track suite for piano, we welcome aboard Russian artist Alex Tiuniaev for the first time. He is a talented artist who some may recognise for his previous material available for free at the Earth Mantra netlabel. Alex has also had an earlier album released on CD, through Cold Spring. For those familiar with his work, this fifteen minute EP may come as a surprise to you as it showcases the artist's ability to compose a suite for a piano. 'On The Elusive Nature Of Time' is four pieces for solo piano - of which each piece started out as a predefined succession of simple chords on top of which various melodic structures were improvised. The fourth track is played in the so-called whole tone scale which creates a certain sonic ambiguity – as a result, the piece never reaches any type of resolution. Hence the title. As is the case through many of the best composers and musicians, Alex's ability to use silence and allowing the notes to linger from time to time makes his work stand out. Alex Tiuniaev has also completed an album that has been in the making for over two years. This will be out this summer on Audio Gourmet, through our 'Full Releases' section. In the meantime, please click 'play' and allow your mind to wander on in quiet contemplation as these audible delicacies filter through the air... released May 5, 2011 Music composed by Alex Tiuniaev. 01. Quinn Walker and Danny Clay - Of The Days And Shapes (7:10) 02. Quinn Walker and Danny Clay - Wavering Lines Rise And Fall (6:06) (24Bit) With a straight up 'a and b' side EP, we welcome Quinn Walker and Danny Clay to the Audio Gourmet netlabel. Their long distance collaborative effort through file-sharing and sample swapping has yielded these fifteen minutes of sound, constructed from various acoustic instrument treatments, drone textures and field recordings. Quinn is based in Daegu, South Korea and Danny is based in Ohio, US. Despite the far-flung locations in which these artists reside, their results sound remarkably coherent and restrained. Its parts mutate and evolve, gathering momentum slowly throughout these two tracks. 'Of The Days And Shapes' is a patiently building piece comprised of discernable instrument and chime sources that have been shaped into a kaleidoscopic soundscape. 'Wavering Lines Rise And Fall' closes the EP in a beautiful manner, with the building of organic drone sounds that rise and fall gracefully. A glance at their past discography and you'll see that both artists have released 3" cd-rs through the Heat Death imprint. Aside from this, they are relatively new to the scene with two releases each. Danny has had both of his released through Heat Death whilst Quinn's other EP 'The Weight Of Care' was put out on the Rural Colours label earlier this year. Their respective tallys now sit at three EPs each, with 'Track A/Track B' also serving as a highlight in the Audio Gourmet netlabel catalog...enjoy! released June 7, 2011 Produced by Quinn Walker and Danny Clay Artwork selected by Quinn Walker ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Kirill Platonkin - Dying Icicles (4:36) 02. Kirill Platonkin - Flowing Reflections (5:20) 03. Kirill Platonkin - Trails (4:31) Although Audio Gourmet is based in the relatively small isles of the United Kingdom, we like to think of ourselves as part of an international community. Our catalog has seen us release work from artists from all continents bar Africa so far! Yet it must be pointed out that with the rise of the internet, the geography of a record label is becoming increasingly irrelevant. So onto our latest 15 minute EP from afar, we welcome Kirill Platonkin to the fold. Kirill is from a town called Blagoveshchensk in far Eastern Russia. It lies at the point of confluence of two rivers, Amur and Zeva. Kirill was born in 1986 and began writing music in 2002, centering his early work around psychedelic rock. With Pink Floyd a huge influence since before he can remember, Kirill progressed onto playing in a thrash metal group for a while before eventually moving on to experiment with sound by himself. Through a couple of early pseudonyms such as Platon and GhostSonic and some releases under his belt, Kirill Platonkin became of age. He chose to drop his attempts at finding a name for his works and decided upon using his birthname for future output. This has led to releases on labels such as Dark Winter, Treetrunk, Circlesandlines and his own Tukuringra netlabel. Kirill's sound falls loosely into the dark ambient category and is made up from field recordings and sounds he captures from his instrument collection which includes guitar, flutes and ethnic instruments. Collecting instruments is very much an accompanying hobby for this artist and he is always searching for new objects to impact his music For Audio Gourmet, Kirill has put together 'Trails', a three track EP of dense and brooding ambient music. Dark ambient music is a saturated sub-genre in which only a select band of artists are able to come up with something challenging and well put together. Kirill Platonkin is one of these artists, as you will soon hear for yourelf... released June 16, 2011 Produced by Kirill Platonkin Artwork: Drawing by Kirill Platonkin ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Lauki - Invierno (2:09) 02. Lauki - Deconstrucción (4:59) 03. Lauki - Tesis (1:39) 04. Lauki - Domo (3:46) 05. Lauki - 69º54´S-135º12´E (3:20) Next up on Audio Gourmet, we present an EP of five tracks by Spanish artist Lauki. He was born in Pamplona and lives in Barcelona where he currently works as freelance sound technician and composer. Mikel Lauki has several other projects, including f.ex and Lupus where he blends ambient music and IDM. At the end of 2008 the netlabel 49manekinow published his album “Obertura”, a piece of sound experiments trapped within IDM, glitch and concrete music boundaries. He is also part of the collective Sci-Phi, where he explores through different audiovisual pieces, the connection between image, sound and the sensibility of the time we live. He has a particular weakness for contemporary classic music, generative art and the aesthetics of the digital error. With the juxtaposition of classical music set to fractured digital manipulation, 69º54´S-135º12´E is characterised by crystalline nets of microsound, glitch and computer sounds that break upon contact with the delicately analog melancholy of rubbed strings. The contrast of these two ingredients is stark, like ice melting in the hot summer sun. The ice is fragile and vulnerable, inevitably melting away quickly in the intensity of the heat. For this EP, the five short tracks reference this beautifully as the modern classical melodies are quickly melted into droplets by the electronic glitches, evaporating in just fifteen minutes. The beauty is in the collapse... Additional liner notes from the artist: "69º54´S-135º12´E - Coordinates scribbled on a map, lost, then recovered in the world of dreams. In the coldest region, the promise of breaking through the inner ice. The polar desert, another frontier of our planetary existence, a territory where only fools and heroes dare to go." released June 21, 2011 Produced by Lauki Collaboration - Track 2 "Deconstrucción". main violin - Heike Grafe. Jacob Newman - During The Bending Of Light (5:22) With 'Against A Quantized Sky', Colorado based artist Jacob Newman joins the Audio Gourmet Netlabel catalog. He has been in touch with the label back when it was first set up and has been slowly working on somthing for us ever since. He began experimenting with sound back in 2004. Previous work includes releases on Earth Mantra, Seedsound and Data Obscura. Jacob's music particularly draws influence from the balance of analog versus digital and this latest EP is no exception. It is produced mostly using piano and bass, with digital and analog synthesizers used minimally. It was the artist's intention that the eventual sounds heard within this EP continue along a similar line of his previous work - to be contemplative, relaxing and to inspire slow thinking. Against A Quantized Sky has been specifically designed to fit the Audio Gourmet brief of just fifteen minutes of sound and it is to offer the listener a short window in which to slow down and regenerate. Thematically, the EP title came about after Jacob had taken the cover photograph and uploaded it to the internet. His friend Marcos made the comment 'Against A Quantized Sky' and Jacob felt it was fitting as the title for his latest EP. The rest is left for us as a listener to disect and to search for any hidden meaning within this delicate and meditative collection of sounds... released June 29, 2011 Produced by Jacob Newman Artwork by Jacob Newman ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Widesky - Sungrazing (5:50) 02. Widesky - Radiosonde (8:05) Widesky is New Mexico, US based experimental artist Seth Chrisman. His only release before this was an acclaimed EP on Rural Colours earlier this year called 'Floating In Being'. His work is typically created through extended techniques using field recordings, radio static, found sound and instrument sources. These are then processed with software to create his eventual compositions. The two pieces that form 'Celestial Bodies' were recorded in 2010. They are both improvisations with guitar and laptop, recorded in one take without overdubs. 'Sungrazing' features a nylon string guitar adorned with a contact microphone whilst 'Radiosonde' is an electric guitar improvisation. Seth began experimenting with more complex DSP chains for these pieces, and in forming the title for the EP, he vaguely recalls having 'celestial bodies' on the mind when lost in improvisation, hence the names of tracks and the EP. released August 2, 2011 Recorded and produced by Seth Chrisman ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Wbaum - Spaces 6 (1:43) Wbaum is the solo project of musician and producer Claus Poulsen who works with laptop, turntables, guitars, field recordings and other sound sources. His output from this can sit anywhere within the blurred boundaries of electronica, ambient, noise and pop. Having played in many bands, most notably 8 years of noise improvisations with Alarm112, he decided to make music on his own under the Wbaum moniker(pronounced "wunderbaum"). So far it is just the CD/LP 'The Wonderful World Of...', released on Elektrolyt in January 2010 that comprises his discography. He now adds to it via Audio Gourmet, with this short set of guitar experiments called 'Spaces'. His journey as an artist is very much an on-going process and he prefers to experiment with sound and texture in an improvised fashion, with a loose goal of gradually honing his craft over the months and years that lie ahead. Claus is constantly pushing himself in different areas and experimenting with ideas in search of something new, unexpcted or accidental. After immersing yourself in these six short but atmospheric movements, it might strike you that Claus's sound is remarkably refined for someone who has only had one other solo release under his belt. It's perhaps largely attributed to the ten releases he has racked up alongside Henrik Bagner as Small Things On Sundays...(see AGN016). The duo have been going since 2008 and their sound is sculptured from dark and cavernous ambient drones and noise textures. Aside from music, Claus is keen on photography and intends to produce cover artwork under the name Artwerk. This is mostly for his own releases, although he would consider working with other artists on this as a sideproject if any interest were to arise released August 2, 2011 Produced by Claus Poulsen ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Savaran - The Jewelled Sea (4:02) 02. Savaran - Inside Out (3:22) 03. Savaran - Lost In Conversation (3:32) 04. Savaran - 1860 Redux (4:26) 24Bit Savaran is Mark Walters from Wales in the UK. He is an electronic musician, sound designer and sound artist working in the ambient, electronic, electro-acoustic and experimental genres from his small home studio on the Welsh border near Shrewsbury. Mark also works as a full-time archaeologist. His music is inspired by the random daily events that life throws at you, landscapes, environment, atmosphere, astronomy, geology, past cultures, or just the indefinable need to make music. His constantly evolving musical output has been released on a number of labels over the last year including Hofa Media, Wasamix, Gradient Audio, Ember Music, FeedbackLoop and Somehow Recordings. The Audio Gourmet EP Observations includes four tracks recorded between April and July 2011 which tend to explore a far more acoustic and organic sound than previous releases. Opening track The Jewelled Sea blends coastal field recordings made on holiday in Scotland with gentle ripples of processed and sequenced synthesizer sounds that provide a background swell for the minutiae of hydrophone derived flotsam and jetsam. Inside Out was inspired by a rainy Sunday morning in Islington, London observing umbrella clad passers-by from a cosy hostelry and soaking up the sights and sounds of the street scene. Lost in Conversation is a live improvised piece played over the complex crosstalk of multiple conversations in a busy restaurant. 1860 Redux revisits a phonautogram of the oldest song recording made by Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville in April 1860. The song Au Clair de la Lune was sung by an unknown performer and the original lasts just 10 seconds. The faint warbling voice on the original is lost in a fog of hiss and distortion which makes it quite a difficult listen. I stretched and processed the sound with reverbs to create a gentle wash that fades in and out of this ambient track as a small homage and remix of the original achievement. released September 1, 2011 foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

(3:14) Enter the dark and mysterious presence that is themuru, an audio/visual artist duo from London, UK. We never looked back... The EP is finally ready for release today and it is a seamless blend of dark territories with rare glimpses of light amongst a deluge of blackness. Now that summer is drawing to a close, it is perfect for the colder months that lie ahead. The EP titles are in a language that seems as unfamiliar as the bleak fifteen minutes that they represent. It seems that little is known about themuru and after attempting to conduct some research, I am at a complete loss. The stance of remaining inconspicuous has often been adopted by artists, particularly in the ambient field. It has been suggested by some that this is due to sheer laziness. This is certainly not the case with themuru... The ambiguously titled '....' EP is so intricately put together and so cleverly done, that it stands as a real testament to the quality of this artist's work. Coupled with a stunning set of bonus images (one for each track, included as a PDF in the download folder), it's clear that Themuru takes great pride in his work and allows it to be his sole representative, rather than a collection of words and clear conceptual ideas. '....' is saying 'take this EP, allow it the time and space to sink in. Apply to it your own concepts and thoughts.' It must be pointed out that whilst the fifteen minute EP has been split into separate tracks to suit our release guidelines, it is best enjoyed with gapless playback. themuru has composed the whole EP as a seamless blend of the four pieces and it works best when listened to in this fashion. released September 29, 2011 Written and produced by themuru Artwork and PDF booklet by themuru ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Dusk To Dawn - Good Night (1:35) After a hiatus stretching back to October, we thought it was about time we released something new on Audio Gourmet. I'm delighted to announce that industrious Polish sound designer Bartosz Dziadosz has teamed up with talented Japanese pianist Shintaro Aoki in a brief EP that breaks Audio Gourmet rules. Rather than being the required 15 minutes, it comes in at just over 10 instead but we felt that it says all that is needed to say in its timeframe and decided to release it as it is, with no further work required. A brief background check on these artists and for those that don't already know, Bartosz Dziadosz usually produces as Pleq. He has had a prolific 2011, collaborating with a list of artists too numerous to name and we feel very lucky to release what is possibly his final outing of the year. For this particular collaboration, he has teamed up with Shintaro Aoki, who provides the piano for this EP - which is the driving force of the music here. Shintaro's work this year has seen two excursions on Somehow Recordings new offshoot label Twisted Treeline. Delving through these, you'll soon learn that as well as being a skilled pianist, Shintaro is also at home as an electronic musician. In this pairing of artistic minds, the duo have opted for a new pseudonym for their combined creative output - Dusk To Dawn. They have also decided to self title their first release under this moniker and have drawn upon the photographic talent of Richard Outram to provide the front cover. The image is a stunning black and white landscape shot taken in Wales. It is quite imposing, which is in deliberate stark contrast to the beautiful music that it represents. Throughout this short set of light piano driven pieces, you'll be left feeling both refreshed and frustrated at the same time. It proves a great source of relaxation that curtails all too soon. But then, you could always play it again...and again...and again Since it's the season for giving, these artists have kindly allowed me to released 'Dusk To Dawn' for free. We hope you all enjoy it! released December 25, 2011 All tracks written and produced by Bartosz Dziadosz and Shintaro Aoki in 2011. After discovering each other's works online, the two quickly realized the potential for a cohesive musical collaboration, and set forth to see how such an experiment might unfold. Forever Itself Becomes is the result, and marks the beginning of many more such experiments. Both have featured on Audio Gourmet in the past - Darren's EP 'Momentary' was only our second release, back in May 2010 and Seth is responsible for this year's 'Celestial Bodies' EP, under his main artist alias Widesky. Aside from these two previous EPs, both artists have been working hard over the last couple of years towards expanding their discography. Darren's work has graced several labels, including Rural Colours, Twisted Treeline, Childrenplay Records and Earth Mantra. Seth's previous work as Widesky has emerged from labels such as Rural Colours and Pocket Fields. Together, these two artists have created a rich and enveloping wall of sound that is awash with subtle droning nuances. 01. Darwin Raymond - Rien/Rain I (7:06) 02. Darwin Raymond - Rien/Rain II (7:25) 24Bit After a brief new year break, we return with the first fiteen minutes of 2012, a debut label EP from Columbus, Ohio based artist Darwin Raymond. Darwin has been playing guitar and making music for over 20 years. It was only after his wife passed away that he felt a genuine need to make music again and actively share his work. Throughout his life, music has been extremely important and on reflection he felt the need to start giving something back by sharing his sound experiments. Rien/Rain is made from treated guitar and viola. It was recorded in the winter of 2010/2011, which was an incredibly lonely and forlorn time for the artist. Words cannot express the feelings felt at the time and so Darwin tried to take these feelings and translate them into sound. Rien/Rain is understandably dark overall, and its two pieces are best enjoyed using headphones in a quiet room. The dark and brooding nature of these pieces can be unsettling, but the brief fifteen minute duration ensures that it does not become maudlin. Instead, the sounds come across as a release, which somehow make it feel uplifting... released February 24, 2012 All sounds and images by Darwin Raymond foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. SALA - Jurmala Revisited (9:38) 02. SALA - Breath (5:38) Lithuania based artists SALA have been recording one way or another for well over a decade. Through several CD releases out on various labels, SALA as a collective have expanded and contracted its members over the years. Currently SALA is a one man recording operation, with Audrius Simkunas at the helm. Occasionally for live performances, other members are called upon to lend assistance. The most recent body of work that some of our listeners may be familiar with, is a four piece set called '4 Waters' for the Green Field Recordings netlabel collection. To supplement this, SALA present a fifteen minute EP of field recordings based material here on Audio Gourmet. 'Jurmala Revisited/Breath' was recorded on the beaches of Jurmala and Ventspilis in Latvia. The sea in Jurmala played a vital part in 4 Waters, in the recording undertaken for it during 2010, so Audrius decided to visit again in July 2011 for another session. On return, he noticed that the sea was not as calm as in the year previous and also, there was a live jazz band performing at a nearby cafe. Jurmala Revisited/Breath documents SALA's return to the shores of Latvia, as a sort of audio postcard. The cover photography was taken during the trip and has been treated to look like a fading memory. There are two images, one for each piece. The first is hazier and more feint, suggesting a distant recollection of events, whilst the second image is slightly clearer, as if the memory has been jogged during a listen to this EP. You may not have been present, but you too can feel a part of the events as the sounds unfold in your ears... SALA have recently set up a blog to offer further coverage into their work. 01. Giovanni Lami - Upper Cycle (4:00) 02. Giovanni Lami - Middle Cycle (7:00) 03. Giovanni Lami - Lower Cycle (4:00) 24Bit Giovanni Lami is a field recordist and musician from Ravenna in Italy, who works within the soundscape and sound ecology boundaries. He is also involved with the marvellous Zymogen label, working with artists such as Nicola Ratti, offthesky, Ten and Tracer, con_cetta, Letna and Marihiko Hara. Since 2009, he has founded several projects, attending many workshops and teaching others about soundscaping and field recording techniques. With his various projects, Giovanni has played in several venues including: Conservatorio B.Maderna (Cesena), DalVerme (Roma), Mu.Vi.Ment.S. Festival 2010 (Itri), Fondazione Giorgio Cini (Venezia), Festival C/off (Faenza), Schiume Festival (Venezia), Kernel Festival (Desio), Tagofest VI (Massa), Florence Live Looping Festival (Firenze), Flussi2011 (Avellino), Barbur Gallery (Jerusalem) and Rogatka (Tel Aviv). Giovanni graduated in Food Science and Technologies and in Photography. It was his photography qualification that first got him into the field of art, with numerous exhibitions in places such as Ravenna, Modena, Genova, Roma, Acireale, San Sebastian in Spain and Dhaka in Bangladesh. He also secured a couple of artistic residencies in Basque Country and Norway as well as had books published and working with companies from UNESCO in Ethiopia to Dead Meat clothing and also OnOff, a photo agency based in Rome. Presently working in the field of sound, Giovanni's influence as a photographer lends itself perfectly to composing his sonic explorations. The infinte universe of sound is as long and broad as the visual possibilities available in photography. His work with sound is based around this ethos as not only is there an infinite world of sound available to explore, there is also the wider capabilities unlocked through digital and realtime signal processing. He has released only a few works, on Palustre records in the past and in 2012 releases are planned for Fratto9 and Impulsive Habitat. WMfY stands for Weird Music For Yoga and whilst at first glance seeming conceptually odd, it is in fact quite simple. It is music composed for a yoga practice that Giovanni is performing in yoga schools. It's "weird" because it is not related in any way to the kind of music you would normally associated with yoga, such as "new age" or "ethnic" sounds. Instead, Giovanni's take on it treads a darker path than what you'd normally relate to yoga and meditation. It was performed using lots of sound sources and centered around a laptop. The sound pallette includes acoustic instruments such as a shruti box, two singing bowls, a kalimba processed through contact mics or dynamic mics, some "noise boxes" (hand made boxes made of different materials with a small speaker inside, placed around the room and controlled through DAW), analog effects and a mixer used to control each track. This small work is compiled specifically for Audio Gourmet and fits perfectly with our original concept of fifteen minute EPs; it's not a fraction over or under fifteen minutes. Normally when Giovanni performs this music for the practice of yoga, everything is longer and more relaxed in time, yet for WMfY, everything was recorded at his studio with the timeframe constraints Audio Gourmet releases apply specifically in mind. Almost immediately an idea came to mind: as you may notice from the names of each track, they are loops. You can listen to each of them in loop and they will not have any end, this is why the start could seem strong in some way. Perhaps they could be referred to mantras if you prefer although Giovanni prefers to distance himself from the word, instead calling them 'cycles'. The work is best listened to at mid/low volume without headphones if possible, as this is the intended setting that the artist recommends for the best response. So whilst this EP could be deemed too short for the practice of yoga itself, Giovanni Lami has cleverly woven in the capacity for them to be transformed into 'cycles' that are suitable for yoga sessions in the form of loops. Listened to in their standard form, as an Audio Gourmet EP, it is indeed weird music for yoga since the period of relaxation is over all too soon... released March 29, 2012 All tracks written and produced by Giovanni Lami in early 2012. 01. Honoré Feraille - Au Sud (11:20) 02. Honoré Feraille - Le Repos des Cructacés (5:14) Honoré Feraille is another new artist moniker for Geneva, Switzerland based experimental noise artist Laurent Peter. He records under a collection of different aliases and through several different projects including Diatribes, Heu{s-k}ach, Karst and perhaps the more familiar solo production pseudonym D'incise. His work was born out of the several years that he spent experimenting with various forms of electronic music techniques, before eventually happening upon more electro-acoustic based ideas. Early productions amongst this field were released through netlabels such as Test Tube and Zymogen as well as a self produced CD in 2004. Since then, his output has become prolific, spanning several different labels such as Resting Bell, SEM, Impulsive Habitat and his own Insubordinations. It was here where we were first shown a glimpse of his new project as Honoré Feraille in an untitled compilation album also featuring artists such as Herzog, Nicolas Bernier and Francisco Lopez. The first official excursion for this new project from an already well established artist is Au Sud, presented here on Audio Gourmet. Here, the work of Honoré Feraille delves through the sorts of deep, dark and dense drone tapestries that have won the artist so much acclaim via the likes of D'Incise and his other collaborative projects. As you would expect, the detail and sounds that comprise Au Sud, are meticulously constructed and unfurl carefully over the short duration of this two piece EP. Little more is specified as the artist allows the sounds to wander without purpose, free from order, structure and design released March 29, 2012 All sounds produced by Laurent Peter Cover artwork by Laurent Peter ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Specta Ciera - Who Woke Up The Birds (6:00) 02. Specta Ciera - Memories and Sleepy Thoughts (4:50) 03. Specta Ciera - Low Pressure (4:11) Returning to Audio Gourmet for a second time, we welcome back Specta Ciera with a new EP called 'The Tropical Air'. Specta Ciera is Cambridge, US based artist Devin Underwood who first released here on Audio Gourmet back in 2010 with 'Meadow Return'. Since then, Devin has branched out from netlabel and digital only material with CDr albums on labels such as I, Absentee and Secret Station. 'The Tropical Air' was born out of Devin's intentions to experiment with real-time improvisation. The result is comprised of a 90% live performance, in which Devin strived to become more comfortable with his studio gear, allowing him to get the most out of just a few elements. The sessions were recorded during springtime, when the warm weather was just beginning to return and everything was beginning to grow again outside. Windows were being opened for the first time in a while, allowing the returning bird song to filter through indoors. The temperature outside became pleasant thanks to the sun, which created a warm reflective mood. In the processing stage, Devin would usually spend a great deal of time overdubbing and layering additional detail. With 'The Tropical Air', he felt that these raw live recordings were very special to him in their original form. Even the field recordings underneath the warm drones are a live recording, with microphones being fed into his delay chains and picking up the sounds of outside , his breathing and any movements. Devin took the cover art photography just outside where the recordings were made, which features flowers just returning to bloom as spring began to set in. It was then edited to look like a painting here at Audio Gourmet HQ, so that hopefuly for long into the future both you and the artist will look back on this piece with a warm and nostalgic fondness. With around fifteen years of recording experimental music through many different genres, Devin's unrestricted approach to sound has allowed him to delve through IDM, ambient, techno, field recordings and various other influences. We hope that this stripped back, warm and honest EP serves as the perfect short soundtrack for the warmer seasons and that you'll return to it again and again Just to throw forward into the future, we're told that there is a collaboration between Specta Ciera and another artist previously featured on Audio Gourmet, Jacob Newman... released April 29, 2012 All music recorded and produced by Devin Underwood Photography by Devin Underwood Artwork by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Microvolt - Reformation 8 (4:15) 02. Microvolt - The Girl With The Musicbox (2:19) 03. Microvolt - I Am Slowly Dissolving (8:05) We're excited to announce a debut release from an artist we recently discovered through social networking called Microvolt. With this short three piece EP called 'Fadeout', Paul Randall from Kent, UK introduces his first release of any kind. The music of Microvolt was initially intended for Paul to enjoy for himself, both through the production process and in listening back. It was through social networking and Adam 'Finglebone' Varney that we discovered his music and we just had to work with him. His evocative video for 'Reformation 8' really grabbed us - you can see it for yourself here, on Paul's Youtube channel: www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4saSmxe7j8 Paul has always enjoyed and experimented with music; it has been his one and only passion since before he can remember and his influences are widespread as a result. Paul began to make music as a young teen having been inspired by his love of synthpop. Through his years of recording and experimenting, today we land at 'Fadeout' an EP conceptually themed around tuning into the past. With its overridingly lo-fi aesthetic which was applied by the use of vintage equipment and additional crackle and hiss, Fadeout intends to view the echoes of people and places from the days gone by. The EP consists of three tracks, each with an accompanying image. These were taken by the artist within his locality. For the cover, an old decaying barge is at rest in a dissolving formally busy wharf on Milton Creek. Additional editing techniques were applied by us to help accentuate the antique feel to the music and concept for this marvellous debut EP. released April 29, 2012 Recorded and produced by Paul Randall Photography by Paul Randall Artwork by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Good Weather For An Airstrike - Goodnight, Boogaloo (3:08) 02. Good Weather For An Airstrike - Lah (12:47) 03. Good Weather For An Airstrike - Blurred Lights (1:16) In a personal tributary EP to his new wife Lauren, Hampshire, UK based artist Tom Honey (Good Weather For An Airstrike) has put together this short but warm set of sounds to preserve what is to be a landmark year for the couple. Field recordings throughout were taken during a warm weekend's walking around Winchester and the individually assigned images for each track were taken by Lauren. Whilst Tom has laid out a special sentimental attachment to this EP, it is for us whatever we wish it to be. Perhaps some listeners will relate to this sentiment themselves whilst others may wish to draw light from its warmth as the summer months lie ahead. Some of you will recognise Good Weather For An Airstrike after the release of 'Underneath The Stars' on Hibernate, earlier this year. Others may be familiar with Tom's label Hawk Moon. Nevertheless, it is a project that has been active for three years, always developing whilst leaning on its post-rock and ambient influences. For those of you that are new to the Good Weather For An Airstrike sound, let this EP be your starting point, a special commemorative gift shared by the artist It's also worth pointing out, that Good Weather For An Airstrike T-shirts are available purchase at the above link! released May 23, 2012 For Lauren Sound by Tom Honey Additional guitars on Goodnight, Boogaloo by Rob Honey Photography by Lauren Honey ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Lights Dim - Under The Sun (5:05) 02. Lights Dim - Dust In The Air (5:01) 03. Lights Dim - Parades (4:19) 24Bit Next on Audio Gourmet, we welcome Krakow, Poland based artist Lights Dim. The man behind the project is Marek Kaminski, who has previously graced the Audio Gourmet label with his contribution to the Just A Moment compilation, released in 2011. Marek has also self-released an album, which has since been made available again through AZH Promo and Preserved Sound. Marek has been making music for around seven years both on his own and in numerous bands, such as New Century Classics - a post rock ensemble. His solo work as Lights Dim approaches layers of melody, still dervied from musical instruments as with a band, yet their respective parts are allowed only a small contribution to the overall soundscape. Together as a mass, these small elements make up the bold and emotive textured sounds that are on offer here in 'Deep Summer'. The idea behind this EP was to create a piece of work, that would take the listener on a one day journey to a dry and dusty city, where they would experience the heat and the dirt of an urban summer. This is represented within the first two tracks. After these are allowed to settle in for a few minutes, eventually some comfort and rest is brought in to close the set in the form of 'Parades', which is intended to represent night fall, when the heat would subside a relieving calm sets in. released May 23, 2012 Sounds by Marek Kaminski Photography by Richard Outram Photo editing by Marek Kaminski and Harry Towell foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Philippe Lamy - Trying To Tell A Story (7:00) 02. Philippe Lamy - Trying To Tell Another Story (8:00) Storytelling is a two track EP from Philippe Lamy, an artist that resides in the south of France. His previous work has been released on labels such as High Linear Music, Nephogram, Nowaki and La P'tite Maison and the sound that defines this artist's material is dense and murky, yet highly detailed. Philippe is a painter first and foremost, teaching at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Toulouse. He has exhibited his artwork across Europe. He began to work with sound too around ten years ago, feeling that his paintings and music resonate together. His careful attention to texture and detail is something he has carried over from his experience as a painter and has transferred into his work with sound. The sounds inside this EP are numerous, with field recordings being taken during walks around the city, of extractor fans, refridgerators, film dialogues. Philippe uses sounds from his previous material, giving them a new context and fuses new sounds from electric guitar, kora and samples. Through the two tracks that make up Storytelling, Philippe conveys the mild struggle he had when creating this EP. He had so much to get across and in such a short space of time, that he felt like there were two or more 'stories' being played simultaneously. This creates a listening environment that gives way to several different meanings that the listener participates in. As if, someone is trying to tell a story but not succeeding as intended but still managing to come across as beautiful. The meanings and the story itself becomes lost in translation, yet still you manage to make sense of it, somehow. released July 23, 2012 Sounds produced by Philippe Lamy Photography and artwork by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Monolyth & Cobalt - The North Train (Sarah Memories) (4:51) 24Bit except track 4 We are delighted to present for our next EP, the work of industrious French sound artist Monolyth & Cobalt. Mathias Van Eecloo, the man behind the project is a musician, photographer, plastic artist and performer born in 1977. He first began to work with music over five years ago when he was intending to create soundtracks to black and white photo slides that he had made. Not long after these initial experiments, Monolyth and Cobalt was born and he hasn't looked back. Since its inception, the project has seen his works released on Simon Scott's Kesh label, Feedback Loop as well as compilation appearances on Denovali, Progressive Form and Vintermusik. Perhaps the most ambitious project that he has achieved is The Clyde Parker Project. This began in 2009 and was completed in 2011 and including a massive collaboration with 100 artists from various countries and horizons with no musical borders boundaries. His music is composed mainly with various acoustic instruments (harmonium, piano, various strings, melodica, Clarinet, xylophone, Autoharp...) tape and fields recordings. Then, the layers, tones, and textures are recorded with electronic hardware. All the pieces of sounds were originally recorded in one shot improvisations, with no computer activity. We are pleased to make a small example of Mathias' work available for free, here on Audio Gourmet In 2012, he is working on some new collaborative releases, which will be available soon as well as working on a new solo project, under the name D.Rhöne released July 23, 2012 All sounds by Mathias Van Eecloo Cover photograph by Richard Outram Photography editing by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Pleq & Hakobune - Sleepless (19:59) Following the recent release of their album 'Adrift', out now on Nomadic Kids Republic, we're pleased to present this single track by Pleq & Hakobune on Audio Gourmet. Sleepless, with similar connotations to the word Adrift could easily be seen as a partner piece to this stunning collaborative album between two of the more ubiquitous artists in the scene. Both have carved out a career defined by quality despite the regularity of their output and we're at a stage now where most of you will be familiar with their work. Pleq is Polish experimental sound artist Bartosz Dziadosz, who many fans of Audio Gourmet will already know for his previous contributions in compilations and collaborations. On the topic of collaborations, it is this approach to working with sound that has helped steer him successfully to prolific status, with him preferring to work with others in recent years. The list is too numerous to recite in full but just a few names include the likes of Offthesky, Luup, Anna Rose Carter and now Hakobune. Hakobune on the other hand is relatively new to collaborations, yet prolific with his solo work. If you follow labels like Hibernate, Rural Colours, Somehow Recordings or U-Cover you'll have likely come across this artist before. Takahiro Yorifuji is the man behind the project, hailing from Japan and providing some of the most blissful guitar drones around over the last few years. Together, this far-flung duo have carefully adjoined two different approaches to sound design to breathtaking effect. Yorifuji's guitar drones unfurl majestically over a 20 minute duration, all the while punctuated by the fractured miniscule detail and texture that we associate with Pleq. The subject matter for this sonic construction is a lack of sleep; something many artists and listeners alike can relate to. From an artist's perspective when creating such lulling music you can get lost in the creativity and despite its trance-like effect, it is difficult to actually sleep when creating it. So whilst many will choose to create this music by day, those who choose to work by night may encounter lack of sleep. It is fascinating to think of the sacrifice of a good night's sleep for the sake of art. Essentially, despite the sleepless environment in which it was created, listeners are provided with a longform meditative piece which could easily have the opposite effect if consumed by night. released September 4, 2012 Sounds by Bartosz Dziadosz and Takahiro Yorifuji Photography by Peter Nejedly ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Felix Gebhard - Müder Vatter (6:47) 02. Felix Gebhard - Sleeping Bag (6:20) Felix Gebhard is an artist from Berlin, Germany. He works with both sound and photography and to date, his past music discography consists of various contributions of acoustic instruments and vocals. Whilst as a musician, Felix has lots of work available such as 'Exit Felix Gebhard EP' available on Bandcamp and the excellent forthcoming EP from his band Home Of The Lame, 'Early In The A.M' is his first solo release in the experimental scene and we are delighted to present his work to you via Audio Gourmet. If somehow you're familiar with Felix's work as a musician, then you may need some kind of sonic-sorbet to cleanse the pallette before clicking play here. His solo work adopts a completely different approach. "Müder Vatter" and "Sleeping Bag" are two recent pieces made whilst Felix suffered from sleep deprivation induced by what he describes as 'his childrens' crazy night time schedules'. The EP continues our double-bill of music inspired by a lack of sleep and conveys the artist's feeling of tiredness, recording in the kitchen at 2am, knowing that someone will wake him up before long. The resulting sound is centered around noise, which is presumably Felix trying to stay awake whilst he creates! The shards of noise are well arranged here, carefully detailed and always evolving. 'Mueder Vater' is a fine example of this - if you move the placer through the track every 20 seconds, you will hear something new with each move to the right. Yet, play the track continuously and it all flows together beautifully. 'Sleeping Bag' builds to a crescendo of noise before tapering off into a closing passage of light drone, as if he were nodding off to sleep as he loses the fight to stay awake... released September 4, 2012 Sounds by Felix Gebhard Photography by Baz Towell Artwork by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Small Things On Sundays - Maybe (5:04) 02. Small Things On Sundays - Light (8:05) The "Maybe Light EP" marks a welcome return from Danish duo Small Things On Sundays, who released their 'Recalling' EP on Audio Gourmet 2010. The Small Things On Sundays project is based in Copenhagen and headed up by Henrik Bagner and Claus Poulsen. After a reasonably quiet 2012, their second release for Audio Gourmet is a slightly different take on the ambience present on the first, but still bearing all the hallmarks of the STOS sound. Their sound usually always airs on the darker side of drone but their intention for 'Maybe' and 'Light' is to present a calmer, lighter take on their ambient drone world, transporting you to a state of calm in a static scape of beauty whilst still retaining a nod towards the dark side. It is hoped that as you listen, your ears will search and seek out the shards of light amongst the murk. Despite a short hiatus, the duo have informed me that much is planned for the future although no concrete plans have been laid down. In the meantime, 'Maybe Light' brings their sound to the fore again and provides a short reference to it, ahead of a possible long player in the future... released October 4, 2012 Music by Henrik Bagner & Claus Poulsen Mastering by Claus Poulsen Cover by CP ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Senna - Likely To Be Hidden (3:22) 02. Senna - Be Not Here (4:53) 03. Senna - Vagueness Evaporated Into The Atmosphere (5:08) 24Bit We are pleased to announce a debut release on Audio Gourmet in the form of this three-piece suite by Senna. The artist responsible for this project is Japanese sound designer Katsuya Takasaki. Katsuya's main intention when setting out to create ambient is to draw scenery, whether witnessed or imagined. His work is bursting with colourful emotion and the heightened volume adds an element of power to represent breathtaking scenery, his chosen subject. Senna's aural translation of scenery is not clear and discernible to the listener. In fact, it is intended to be vague as you try to scramble for imagined panoramas. The suggested imagery flickers inside your head as you focus on what it could be. 'Scenery In His Mind' is a mere suggestion to lead to contemplation and a yearning for remote outdoor spaces. released October 4, 2012 Sounds by Katsuya Takasaki Photography by Harry Towell foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Flavien Gillié - Along The Groelstbeek River, Sirens In The Background (3:58) We bid farewell to our third year of operation with the last two EPs to see out 2012. First up is Kinsendael, the work of field recordings artist Flavien Gillié, which comprises of five pieces. We do like to release field recordings on Audio Gourmet but we are very selective of what we put out. Every so often a pure field recordings based work catches our ears and this is no exception. Kinsendael is a nature reserve located near Brussels in Belgium and it provided a location for Flavien’s recording at the beginning of 2012. He spent many a wintry day just sitting and listening in the cold, trying to forget his frozen feet and looking for wildlife around the small river. Buildings are not far away, almost encroaching on the nature reserve yet remaining just far away enough for it to still feel tranquil and removed from society. Often there have been talks of construction projects and building investments in the Kinsendael nature reserve but fortunately it has been protected by the local community. A balance between the natural world and culture is maintained and this special place remains. The cover artwork was taken by the artist during the time when he was recording, as well as bonus imagery included with this free download. released December 13, 2012 Recording in winter 2012 by Flavien Gillié Photography by Flavien Gillié ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Ruhe - ...Memory (0:39) We have regularly been in touch with Bryan Ruhe, head of the Clothbound label, about releasing an EP of his own work on Audio Gourmet. Despite the required length being a mere tea-break, it took Bryan quite a while to turn in his work. Over the course of nearly twelve months, Bryan allowed ‘A Beautiful Weakness’ to develop into a highly personal document connected deeply to everything in his life throughout the time. This long-term emotional investment makes it quite likely that the meticulously crafted soundtrack will serve as a nostalgic reference point for Bryan for as long as he lives. For us, ‘A Beautiful Weakness’ allows us to somehow be a part of all this. It is more of an album than an EP, with more tracks than anyone has previously dared to include in an Audio Gourmet EP. Despite the variety of sounds within the work - delicate music box interludes, beautiful piano compositions, eroded strings - the collection of tracks feels whole and complete. The textures and melodies are so fragile and delicate that it seems as though they could fall apart at any moment. It is within this fragility - this weakness - that beauty can be found. released December 13, 2012 Written and recorded by Bryan Ruhe Photography by Bryan Ruhe ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Strom Noir - Morning (8:33) 02. Strom Noir - Levitation (4:29) 03. Spheruleus - Where Tall Trees End (5:26) 04. Spheruleus - Endless Pathways Won't Unfold (6:00) 05. Spheruleus - How Dwellings Shadowed (3:28) As we enter our third year of operation, we have decided to put together a special edition for the first Audio Gourmet EPs of 2013. ‘Morning’ is a split EP between Slovakian artist Strom Noir and UK based Spheruleus that originally started as two separate EPs. Both included the word ‘morning’ in the title, so we decided to present them on the same page as a split release. They work as stand-alone EPs, consistent with the 15 minute time constraints of Audio Gourmet or as a pair for continuous listening. Further down the line as we headed towards the release date, Emil (Strom Noir) offered to make the split EP into a 2 x 3” CDr physical limited edition. Naturally we jumped at the opportunity and it seems a nice way to celebrate our third year. There are just 70 copies available, which includes both EPs on two separate discs as well as a free digital version downloadable immediately. There are 10 available direct from the Audio Gourmet shop and the rest are available via Emil once these have sold out. If you miss out or prefer a digital copy, then hit ‘download’ in the usual place. Our sister label Tessellate Recordings is currently saving for its second physical release. So the proceeds from the 10 copies in our shop will go towards this project, as well as any money donated for the digital version. Strom Noir’s half of ‘Morning’ is a two piece set of warm drones made from acoustic instruments. Strom Noir is Emil Matko from Slovakia. The project has been active since 2007 and his work has graced labels such as Hibernate, Resting Bell and dataObscura. Here both of his tracks emit a hazy warmth that is the perfect companion to a reflective morning respite as the sun beams through the window. Spheruleus is UK artist Harry Towell, who has released work through the likes of Hibernate, Home Normal and Under The Spire. His contribution to this split EP is a set of three adaptations of unfinished work found in lost folders on his laptop. The pieces were transformed following an inspiring 6am walk in the fog in local woodland at the beginning of 2012. During the walk, photographs were taken which were edited and then used as the bonus imagery included with this release. The images inspired the track titles and the ambience of the various sound textures reflect the mood of the walk that morning. released February 4, 2013 Tracks 1 and 2 written and produced by Emil Matko Tracks 3, 4 and 5 written and produced by Harry Towell Cover artwork by Martina Jezova Bonus images for tracks 3, 4 and 5 by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Caught In The Wake Forever - We Deal With This In Different Ways (6:06) 02. Caught In The Wake Forever - Beneath Such Shadows (1:34) 03. Caught In The Wake Forever - Better Left Forgotten (7:20) Audio Gourmet has just hit its third birthday and we are pleased to mark the occasion by releasing an EP by Caught In The Wake Forever. ‘Cadder Falls’ is the follow up to the album ‘Against A Simple Wooden Cross’ released last year on Hibernate, although there are plenty of differences between the two records. Whilst ‘Against A Simple Wooden Cross’ documented Fraser McGowan’s struggles, Cadder Falls is a record born out of his subsequent recovery from them – inevitably adopting a different stance to that of its predecessor as optimism and hope begin to return. To start with, Fraser swapped the nylon guitars and plug-in synths for vintage synth hardware including the Waldorf PPG Wav 2.3 and a Roland SH101. Manipulated field recordings, guitar and piano were added to the mix and overall, Fraser strived to use the computer as little as possible. This has resulted in a short collection of layered drones, which serve as reflective meditations. Cadder Falls was born out of the inspiration gleaned from several walks along the Forth and Clyde Canal to a place called Cadder, which Fraser cites as the first activity he had enjoyed since he began the road to recovery from his illness. There was something about the peace and stillness in the area that captured a zest for life again. The resulting recordings that make up Cadder Falls are Fraser’s attempts to trace the landscape of the canals and to express the liberation he felt along the way. Fraser also began to enjoy taking photographs along the canal and he chose the cover artwork with the barbed wire referencing the slight abrasive feel to change amongst the gentle sun and landscape of acceptance. released May 20, 2013 Written and produced by Fraser McGowan Artwork by Fraser McGowan ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Sima Kim & Elintseeker - Day (6:48) 02. Sima Kim & Elintseeker - Reminisce (4:19) 03. Sima Kim & Elintseeker - Lullaby (6:06) Café Air EP is the result of a collaboration between Far Eastern artists Sima Kim and Fuzz Lee (Elintseeker) who hail from South Korea and Singapore respectively. Both artists have previously had material released via Somehow Recordings and Mu Nest and their differing approaches to sound art join as one in this EP. Both artists are used to performing live and this experience is not wasted on their combined studio effort, which uses the space sensitively. Café Air was recorded with Sima writing and arranging the piano melodies which were passed to Fuzz, who added guitar, field recordings and additional processing. A café is usually a meeting place, where conversation fills the room. Café Air strives to create an atmosphere familiar to anyone who has visited a small café alone to find it empty, as accidental sound fills the room and the vacated space gives way to empty thoughts. Throughout the three recordings, the delicate sound of the piano is gently cradled with atmospheric detail, allowing the mind to haze over into a day-dream state. The fifteen minute restriction imposed by an Audio Gourmet EP does little to force Café Air along its path at pace. Instead it lies unhurried; time stands on end, emptiness prevails released June 18, 2013 Written and produced by Sima Kim and Fuzz Lee Artwork by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Western Skies Motel - Reflections (3:43) 02. Western Skies Motel - Here and There (6:57) 03. Western Skies Motel - Homesick (4:07) 24Bit Western Skies Motel is an instrumental project helmed by Danish musician Rene Schelbeck, operating in the cross-field between Americana and post rock. Rene spent many years performing as part of obscure Danish punk and indie bands before he took several years out to concentrate on raising his family. Recently, he has found himself experimenting with sound again and the music has been oozing out and thus, the Western Skies Motel project was born. Western Skies Motel offers accommodation for the night to the traveller in a world where rain heavy clouds threaten to precipitate with dew fresh drops of melancholy. A resting place in the dark from where the blinding reappearance of light can be awaited from a safe distance. In a hazy blur, the music tries to evoke cinematic atmospheres of a dusty landscape sliced open by destination-less labyrinthine roads where the meretricious fluorescent light of twinkling neon signs is the only variation in the futility of repetition. Where the hypnotic flickering of the traffic interferes with the reflection of the blue hour and the wind is the restless messenger of solitude, reflecting the basic conditions of rootlessness in a fragmented time of constant change and perpetual search for authenticity With organic means like harmonium and acoustic guitar, Western Skies Motel explores sentiments of twilight and drought. The music has been created from a vision of an atmospheric, interwoven, textural sound ideal and the process characterised by improvisation and immediacy in the compositions. Noisy feedback blends into softer ambient timbres, harmonies evolve unnoticeably into dissonance, and the melancholy exudes equal parts of hope and despair. Reflections, the debut EP by Western Skies Motel is surely just the beginning… released September 15, 2013 Written and produced by René Schelbeck Artwork by Harry Towell foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

01. Ben Fleury-Steiner - Telemetry (4:19) 02. Ben Fleury-Steiner - Iridium (9:25) 03. Ben Fleury-Steiner - Apogee (4:39) 24Bit After a slow year at AG HQ we can at last announce that things are back on track after our web domain had expired and somebody else had kindly decided to buy it in our absence. Of course, our fault for letting things lapse and we've taken the opportunity to redesign the website which was in need of a refresh after 4 years. We're now busy planning our future schedule as we move into our fifth year of operation and first up we've got a new EP from Delaware, US based artist Ben Fleury-Steiner. Ben has been extremely patient over the last year and we're delighted to at last be able to present 'Passages' which features three pieces of what he describes as floaty, plangent Ambience. Passages is an ode to the enormous mystery that is our comparatively short time on this planet and draws inspiration from outer-space photography and the ancient pastime of stargazing. Clocking in slightly at slightly longer than our guide time of fifteen minutes, Ben's sounds explore these gigantic themes carefully despite the all too brief nature of the traditional Audio Gourmet EP. Ambient music has long been influenced by space, from which the term Space Music was coined - a genre which is often seen negatively these days as being a bit cheesy and tedious. This certainly isn't the case with Passages, which draws on all of Ben's 12 year experience in recording experimental music, full of detailed layers - from the micro-sound de-construted synth fragments crafted in AudioMulch to the old Russian radio recordings sampled in 'Telemetry' there's a maturity to this sound which will simply mesmerise. Over the years, Ben has amassed a discography which lists releases on the likes of Low Point, Rural Colours, Mystery Sea and Infraction as well as collaborations with Matt Borghi, Christopher McFall and not least Aidan Baker, who Ben cites as a mentor. Twincities - Harbor:hums (5:42) 24Bit Whilst we are unsure of the official start to Autumn, today we mark its arrival on this first October day, with an EP from Twincities. 'September Tapes' is a set of gentle, broken pieces which draws a line between the fading warmth of summer and the onset of winter as the leaves begin to turn. The four tracks that are included were put together by Fletcher McDermott and collaborative partner Jesse Asch. Both artists are from Long Island, New York and have recorded on and off together for the last three and a half years. Ordinarily the Twincities sound is Fletcher's solo project but for this EP, he has worked alongside Jesse who provided the guitar recordings that became the spine to this body of work. Typically, the Twincities sound is created using an original source sample or recording such as sounds from an acoustic or electronic instrument. This is then expanded by building and layering fragments of sound through loops, re-amping using outboard analog studio gear such as a 50 year old tube amp or electronic means such as loopers, pedals and laptop manipulation. Fletcher has released as Twincities on labels such as Eilean, Game Of Life label, Future Recordings and has an album forthcoming on Mark Kuykendall's Unknown Tone label at the end of 2014. released October 1, 2014 Music performed by: Fletcher McDermott - keys, electronics, production Jesse Asch - guitar, additional keys Recorded & mixed at home by Fletcher McDermott, September 2014 Cover artwork by Jesse Asch foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Lucho Ripley - Harold y Maude (4:41) 02. Lucho Ripley - Cascadas (6:18) 03. Lucho Ripley - Las Pianistas (3:45) At last we can get 2015 up and running for Audio Gourmet as we welcome a new artist to our catalog. Lucho Ripley is an artist residing in a small village by the sea in Asturias, North Spain. His debut album Megablast was released on US label Symmetrical Records. Lucho has been playing the guitar since he was 19 and over the years he has developed and honed his technique to what it has become today - a warm bed of reverb-drenched guitar layers. This technique is certainly not something new however in Lucho's work it is particularly well executed as you'll hear for yourself. Influences of The Cocteau Twins, Budd/Eno and Robert Fripp are evident but a keen interest in cinema also shapes the direction of Lucho Ripley's sound. 'Spirit Of Wonder' was created with the intention to 'polish' the recordings captured from a Les Paul Gibson and Epiphone Casino with simple effects in a home studio environment. This 3 track EP captures a spirit of wonder as you listen, the idea behind most Ambient music. There is no pretense or overriding concept behind - just beautiful guitar-led Ambient music executed to a very high standard. The accompanying artwork is an open-source water colour image to reflect the work of J.M.W Turner with the blue tones mirroring that of the sea and sky. released January 24, 2015 Written and produced by Lucho Gonzalez Suarez Cover artwork by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Polaroid Notes - Endless, Motionless (5:38) Polaroid Notes is a German artist who has lived near the Alps for the last 20 years. He has been playing experimental music since the eighties and since 2012 he began recording as Kraut Sounds. Already he has amassed a discography listing labels such as Adept, Spiel:feld and Büro für Erdrotation covering genres such as Dub Techno, Ambient and Kraut Electronic. Polaroid Notes is a fresh project heading into a new direction which lies somewhere between Ambient and Modern Classical. 'The Long Bright Dark' is Polaroid Notes' debut EP for Audio Gourmet, with four improvised piano-led tracks. The pieces traverse icy effects-drenched notes, subtle field recordings and swirling synth drones. The EP was recorded in a two day period just after Christmas 2014 and was inspired by a German book called 'Atlas der abgelegenen Inseln'. This translates to Atlas Of Remote Islands in English and the book features 50 short stories accompanied with 50 maps of remote islands. The blurb reads '50 islands, where I never was and never will be' and is a fitting picture for your mind as you listen to 'The Long Bright Dark'. Thoughts of vastness, despair transience and hope will flicker as you traverse this all too brief journey. . 'The Long Bright Dark' precedes the full album 'Sea Shores' which is due out this spring on our sister label Tessellate Recordings. 01. Slow Clinic - It's Not The Same Without You (6:45) 02. Slow Clinic - Abbee By The Ocean (1:11) 03. Slow Clinic - It Feels Like I'm Losing (7:17) Slow Clinic is a project which began in 2012, helmed by North East, United Kingdom based artist James Armstrong. James' previous work has appeared on labels such as Somehow and Vent as well as on our sister label Tessellate's compilation series Earthtones. The project began around a time when James was having difficulty sleeping and had taken to walking in the Cardiff Bay area of Wales where he was studying at the time. The walks were accompanied by the sounds of Ambient playlists and on one particularly striking occasion, the sun came up as Jonsi & Alex's 'Boy 1904' started to play and James suddenly became inspired to recreate the feeling of that moment into his own work. He walked home and recorded his first track 'Sirens at the Etap' which features on his debut EP 'First Works'. Here we are today, some three years later and James' sound has evolved somewhat. His work here for Audio Gourmet is a raw and honest account over three carefully traced tracks of drones and field recordings. The Things I Leave Behind is a short and restful meditation on long distance relationships, as James reflects on the 5000+ mile distance that lies between him and his fiancée. Whilst visiting during a summer break, the two captured many field recordings as James strived to preserve the memories into musical reflections that would provide comfort to the melancholy of his return home. Field recordings include outdoor decking in Seattle after July 4th celebrations, a party in Guildford and Gelt Woods, near the Lake District and then the sounds that make up the Interlude track, which is of a dog named Abbee walking around as a fisherman dragged an anchor across the rocks. released November 8, 2015 Written and produced by James Armstrong Mastered by Fraser McGowan Photography by James Armstrong Artwork by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

The seven tracks that make up Miniatures is the work of Leicester, UK based guitarist Sebastian Buccheri and is released to throw forward an album planned for release on our new sister label Whitelabrecs. Sebastian’s work begins with effects pedal-drenched guitar improvisations that are developed as tracks, however they retain their live feel as overdubs, other instruments and studio manipulation are limited. There is a familiar thread of melancholy running through the Jazzdefector sound, with late nights and relationships being of particular influence. For you the listener, ‘Miniatures’ is a small window into the Jazzdefector sound ahead of the album and a brief time and space to allow your mind to wander. released March 25, 2016 Written and produced by Sebastian Buccheri Photography by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Spheruleus - Case Closed (3:50) We have to trawl back as far as 2010 since Harry Towell (the man behind the Audio Gourmet Netlabel) last released a free 15 minute EP on his label. He has of course since graced labels such as Hibernate, Time Released Sound, Eilean and Home Normal and now is the perfect follow up to EPs 'Rust' and Driftwood/Seafoam', ahead of an album forthcoming on his new limited edition CDr label Whitelabrecs. 'Small Haunts' neatly fits into the trademark fifteen minute Audio Gourmet 'tea break' comprising four tracks. The pieces are inspired by watching many a crime drama film, with the tracks cloaked in a thick veil of noir as they trace a fictitious tale of death and mystery. Each piece was crafted using discarded acoustic instrument recordings and old vinyl samples, arranged using plenty of reverb and vintage cassette tape techniques. 01. Wil Bolton - Parchment (5:30) 02. Wil Bolton - Lichen (5:02) 03. Wil Bolton - Genmaicha (4:28) Wil Bolton is a British artist currently based in London who has been making music ever since he first picked up a guitar in his school years, before going onto a more electronic-based approach as a recording artist under the name of Cheju. This led to a more Ambient-based approach in recent years as Wil began to record under his own name and he has since released works on labels such as Hibernate, Fluid Audio, Home Normal, Time Released Sound, Dauw and Eilean to name but a few. Wil incorporates many elements into his sound design, using a variety of musical instruments that include electric and acoustic guitars, analogue synthesisers, chimes and bells; he usually records live improvisations through chains of guitar pedals and loopers, which are then later processed further on a laptop. Field recordings are another key ingredient and these often form the basis of the tracks adding a sense of space and atmosphere. Wil's sound is influenced by artists as diverse as Fennesz, Taylor Deupree and Janek Schaefer but he's also just as inspired by visual artists such as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Nam June Paik as well as architecture, nature and history. Lichen is a warm and crackly short record that sees Wil depart from his usual use of field recordings and these are replaced with sampled classical and exotica vinyl which plays out as a fuzzy, romantic listen. The vinyl loops were processed with granular and spectral laptop effects with additional effects-laden sounds of electric piano and Fender Bass VI. The overall sound sees Wil search for a slight departure in his approach to sound - with the work retaining Ambient feel but adopting the use of overdrive and distortion throughout adding a little light grit to the tracks. This was added with pedals, amp buzz, digital noise and vinyl crackle and threatens to disintegrate the acoustic and electronic tones on which they ride. These almost become a part of the wall of melody itself, as lichen would set into and become part of the branches of a tree. All in all the three tracks of Lichen are relatively free from a clear and concise concept but Wil cites forests and tea as being loose influences; this is particularly poignant as you'll be able to sit and drink a cup of your favourite loose leaf whilst listening to this EP in full, delving deeper into the forest that is Lichen. released July 10, 2016 Written, produced and mastered by Wil Bolton Artwork by Wil Bolton ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Spheruleus - Passo Longo (5:15) 02. Spheruleus - Lemon Groves (3:01) 03. Spheruleus - Lunarossa (6:11) Spheruleus has recently released a collaborative album 5 years in the making (Folded Distance) which is themed around travel. This is with Josco on French label Eilean Recs which emerged on the day that Harry Towell had landed on the Amalfi Coast, Italy for his annual holiday. Armed with just an iPhone Harry set about taking various recordings in and around the location as he familiarised himself with the area. Amongst many, these include the chimes of the various domes, cathedrals and churches along the coastline, holiday makers enjoying the sun by the shore and the buzz of restaurants in the evening. 'Trading Spaces' not only refers to the artist swapping the mundane British summer for the heat of Campania but is also a reference to the region itself, as the Amalfi coast has a long history of trading through the centuries. This three track EP begins with 'Passo Longo' which is a deep and lulling drone created from a dissected and barely recognisable recording of a guitar and mandolin duo performing 'My Way' by Frank Sinatra at a restaurant in Maiori. It is accompanied by sounds from the beach and waves crashing against the ferry. Named after the production plants for a local speciality, 'Lemon Groves' is the more musical piece on 'Trading Spaces' with brief and refreshing acoustic guitar and zither looped over lo-fi field recordings from Southern Italy, along with subtle electronic beeps. The EP draws to its close with the longer 'Lunarossa' which opens to applause to the aforementioned restaurant musicians. Ambience from the restaurant and elsewhere in the region quietly adorn this brooding guitar drone. The title for this piece refers to a particularly red, full moon that appeared one night on the trip. Spheruleus is busy working on a new album that's almost complete, but in the meantime you can enjoy 'Trading Spaces' and allow the essence of the artist's vacation to accompany your tea break. released July 11, 2017 Written and produced by Harry Towell Field Recordings made in Minori, Maiori, Ravello, Amalfi and Positano Instruments used include guitar, zither, harmonica and violin as well as various other found sounds. 01. Ed Cooke - Opening (2:03) 02. Ed Cooke - Sawyer Dub Blues (4:39) 03. Ed Cooke - The Lost Variables (5:12) 04. Ed Cooke - Bird of Paradise (5:35) 24Bit Ed Cooke is an artist from London, UK who is currently residing in Malaysia and Thailand with previous material released on Rural Colours (Spirit House) and a Vent Sounds compilation. His influences in terms of guitar playing would be Bert Jansch, John Fahey and Bruce Langhorne but his eventual work after time spent in the studio adopts a more contemporary aesthetic, perhaps recalling the work of Zelienople, Padang Food Tigers or Date Palms. Ed’s sound is usually centred around his acoustic and electric guitars which form the basis of tracks that are then adorned with further detail from other instruments and synths. In The Lost Variables we have a four track Dub, Blues and Shoegaze influenced EP that is in keeping with the Audio Gourmet catalog in its loosely Ambient nature, yet drawing influence from these styles. This is a temporary departure for Ed as he explored how to merge his myriad sonic influences. It was made using improvised and pre-recorded guitar loops which were then fed through gated plug-ins to create a mutated Blues sound. Layered organ, synth and dub rhythms join the mix with plenty of delay, a nod to 70s Dub producers such as King Tubby. The EP was mostly created late at night as Ed’s family were sleeping and so the overall presentation is set as a late night soundtrack for reflection, made all the easier with the accompanying artwork shot at a tropical location. Ed has completed a new album which is scheduled for release towards the latter months of 2017 but for now, you can enjoy this free 15 minute tea break EP released July 26, 2017 Written, produced and mastered by Ed Cooke Photography by Ed Cooke Artwork by Harry Towell foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Ben McElroy - those of us left behind (2:37) Ben McElroy is a musician and artist that resides in a big old house in Nottingham, UK, with wooden floors and noisy windows. Ben is getting ready to release a couple of albums on well-known labels but to date, he released his debut ‘Bird-stone’ on our limited edition sister imprint Whitelabrecs. Ben has been making music since his early teens and he cites Pauline Oliveros, Sharron Kraus and Ralph Vaughn Williams as some of his influences and he also works as part of Seas Of Mirth and The Four Fishermen. Bird-stone is a musical record, full of lovingly crafted folk detail but here in ‘Songs of Iceland’, Ben strived to create something more minimal. The work is coined from various leftovers on his hard-drive and the opening title track ‘Songs of Iceland’ was originally a piece he was unhappy but he worked relentlessly on it until it emerged as a good starting point for this EP. On the face of it, Songs of Iceland has a very clear concept, with its story-telling passages of music along with the stunning Icelandic site photography provided by Natasha Edmondson and one track in particular perhaps a reference to the volcanic eruption of Eyjafjallajökull in Iceland back in 2010. However, Ben says he hasn’t been to Iceland and he has not laid out a clear concept for this short EP. Instead, he’d prefer this to be open to interpretation as you draw your own conclusions. released August 1, 2017 Written, produced and mastered by Ben McElroy Photography by Natasha Edmondson ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Polaroid Notes - Days of Our Lives (7:10) For the next free 'tea break' EP, we're pleased to announce the return of Munich based artist Polaroid Notes, who specialises in Ambient, Dub Electronica and cinematic music and also recording as Kraut Sounds. The instrument at the centre of the Polaroid Notes project is the piano, which can be heard in 2015's 'The Long Bright Dark' on Audio Gourmet as well as 'Sea Shores' on Tessellate Recordings. Ahead of a forthcoming album on a certain limited edition imprint that will remain nameless for now, we present the EP 'Days Of Our Lives'. This is a set of four pieces produced over two hot nights in early July this year and features a piano, two digital synthesizer apps, rhodes samples and field recordings, drenched in effects. The EP is a short sound track, further exploring the artist's keenness for travel, with each piece serving as an individual aural postcard from a visit to the Piedmont Mountains and the Ligurian coast. The writing on the back of the postcards for each track would read something like the following, which have been added as lyrics to each track to provide some food for thought for those who may listen on their iPod: South Of Heaven: 'A reflection of the Italian way of life, everything’s easy under the warm Mediterranean sun…' Crooked Road To Monviso: 'Monviso, the highest mountain in the Cottian Alps is a pyramid-shaped mountain which can be seen from far away. Usually, but most of the time it’s a mountain cloaked in a cloudy disguise.' 01. Carter - The Summer Before the Summer (16:28) 24Bit Carter is an artist from Bristol, UK called Neil Carter, who has previously released on Somehow and Vent as well as some self-released material via his Bandcamp page. Neil has been experimenting with sound for the last 20 years but in recent times he has been refining his experiments into projects and releases. Neil ditched his previous laptop as a studio methods recently in favour of a modular system, focusing on generative and improvised recordings. He has become fascinated with exploring both repetition and randomness; the relationships between these two ideas. How the manipulation of time and chance events affects these things and creates evolving patterns. He has also working with more concrete, electro-acoustic based techniques involving found sound, field recordings and object, tape and mic manipulation. Neil’s musical influences are wide, including John Cage, Pierre Schafer and John Coltrane alongside contemporary ‘Ambient’ artists such as Marcus Fischer, Jefre Cantu-Ledesma and Orla Wren. Additionally, he finds the Bristol experimental scene deeply inspiring and exciting, with its wealth of very talented individuals and collectives that play and create a wonderful array of music, sound and art. Neil occasionally plays live himself and has recently been involved in organising an improvised/DIY/experimental music, sound and film weekender called The Bristol Hum. The Summer Before The Summer is a brief but sprawling arrangement of dusty, melancholy electro-acoustics created by blending a modular system with live radio signals, prepared electric motor, an acoustic spring reverb and found object manipulation. These were all collected via contact mics and electro-magnetic pickups, processed through the modular system, which was both triggering events with the motor and radio and being triggered itself (to produce it’s own sound) by the sounds being created. In its short duration, the all-improvised The Summer Before Summer is an unrepeatable moment in time, a perfect accompaniment for a brief pause or teabreak. released August 28, 2017 Written and produced by Neil Carter Mastered by James Armstrong foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Sea Trials - Love Is The Only Way Down (5:16) 24Bit Sea Trials is the work of an Irish artist named Ian W. McCarthy who currently resides in Hungary, a landlocked country. The self-titled debut Sea Trials album emerged on our sister label Whitelabrecs earlier this year, exploring a longing for the shore as Ian finds himself craving the scent of sea air. Both the album and his EP for Audio Gourmet 'The Weight Of Surfacing' were created by recording synth, piano and guitar to tape before the cassettes were weathered or manipulated and then recorded back into digital files for further exploration. Some of the material realised within this EP was crafted from longer compositions with 'Symphony For A Breach Part 2' in particular being part of something larger; a suite for strings and horns. Throughout this brief selection of material from the Sea Trials vault, Ian further explores themes of decay and regrowth, taking into account the effects time has on sound, both in the mind of the composer and in the physical world. This is all condensed into a bite-sized journey for our fifteen minute time constraint - if you're keen to explore further, why not check out the Sea Trials album? released September 10, 2017 Written, Produced and Mastered by Ian McCarthy Photography by Ian McCarthy Artwork by Harry Towell foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

His work focuses on an intimate relationship between sound, memory and place, seeking to explore the impact our sonic environments have on us. Previous releases have appeared on Shimmering Moods, Green Field Recordings and his own netlabel Elm Records which specialises in Ambient and Experimental music. Finn Kelvin is a sound artist and guitarist based in Bristol, United Kingdom. Much of his work is centred around collaboration with other artists. His other creative projects include Inemuri, Rookeries, Fifth Canto and The Elm Collective (an Improvised ambient ensemble where he and James first met). He has also had a series of single releases appear on Elm Records under his own name. Even If Only Temporarily was written after a time of intense travel. Whilst moving around allot James became interested in the idea that everything he was experiencing was only temporary; temporary jobs, temporary homes, temporary relationships. He discovered that understanding everything was only temporary intensified all the experiences that were happening. He began sending small snippets of his sonic experiences to Finn who would expand on the ideas. This back and forth would continue until something more permanent appeared from these ideas, in the form of the EP ‘Even If Only Temporary’. released October 11, 2017 Written and produced by James Osland and Finn Kelvin foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Under his own name, he has previous releases available via Somehow Recordings, Unknown Tone and Inner Ocean to name but a few. Mathieu has also collaborated alongside artists such as Emmanuel Toledo, Specta Ciera and Bluepulp. Mathieu has been influenced by a range of sounds and styles, with early inspiration coming from the IDM and Hip Hop genres, which play a bigger part in his work as Arbee. He is also influenced by the modern Ambient music scene and in 2012, decided to record under his own name after the emotionally driven ‘Calme Relatif’ demo was submitted to Tim David Brice, who made the suggestion to do so. Mathieu’s work for his short Audio Gourmet EP ‘Lieux Communs’ deals with broken melodies, field recordings and lulling drones which wash over you as you listen. The EP does not have a clear concept, although Lieux Communs translates from French as common places but also has a split meaning for something that is widely accepted or obvious. The soundscapes are anything but obvious and along with a blank white canvas of severe snow as the cover artwork, this will provide you with a vacant, unobtrusive space to sink into for a few minutes. released June 6, 2018 Written and produced by Mathieu Lamontagne Mastered by Tim Diagram Artwork by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

I had completed an album called ‘Decompose’ and rather than find a label to commission it, I decided to try self-releasing it through Audio Gourmet as I felt that it follows on naturally from the Rust EP. For Decompose, I experimented with acoustic instruments ran through granular synthesis to give a grainy, textured feel through all of the different layers. So the original musical recordings were fed into the software and spat back out randomly, in effect ‘decomposing’ my compositions. I wanted to portray the fraying particles of the decay process by allowing tiny fragments of sound to culminate as a whole. It is slightly less musical than Rust although there is plenty of melody throughout. In reviews, the first thing they picked up on was how light the sounds were, despite the dark themes of disintegration…This was because again, like in Rust, I was thinking of decay from the perspective of a soul-less inanimate object – perhaps a building or vehicle, with its splintering shards of matter recycling into the earth’s atmosphere. It documents the seasons and their events as they changed and freezes them forever, in a sort of audio vault. Since I knew it would be temporary given the nature of renting a property, I wanted to capture this experience somehow so that I could look back in years to come with fond nostalgia. I have succeeded, as the more that time goes by the more I grow sentimental towards this album. To start with, I have since moved several times! Listening back to the album now, I can hear the sounds of household objects that I no longer own, the tapping on drinking glasses that have since dropped to the ground and smashed, the shaking of rice that has been consumed, instruments that have broken and been thrown away and the melodies that transport me back to that period of time. The opening track ‘Vignette’ was recorded inside a skip at my old workplace, which has since been closed down and the skip removed from the site. As odd and amusing that it seemed at the time – especially to my former colleagues, the more fitting it has become now it is no longer there. To you the listener, this sentimentality will not mean much but it is my hope that you will listen and reflect nostalgically on your first home.”-Harry Towell (Spheruleus) Released on Under The Spire, March 2010. The eventual result has a saturated, reverb drenched woozy feel to it and ‘Debris’ was my first experiments with it. At the time, I was mesmerised with its capabilities and how it sounded and was eager to share it with the world. So I took a look through my hard-drive and found some tracks that I was struggling to finish or that just never materialised – Debris, if you will. I ran them through the effects and the result is a noisy chorus guitar sound, like a molten-liquid rendition of the Cocteau Twins.” released February 18, 2011 Written and produced by Harry Towell Photography by Stuart Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Alex Tiuniaev - Origins (11:57) 10. Alex Tiuniaev - The King (4:12) For the first full artist album on Audio Gourmet that isn't Spheruleus, we welcome back Alex Tiuniaev, a Russian composer who composed a four track EP for our netlabel section called 'On The Elusive Nature Of Time' back in May this year. He has been working on 'Blurred' on and off for the last couple of years and finally it is complete, ready for all to hear. It blends his piano compositions with field recordings, strings, drones and other sounds into an altogether majestic and arresting short album. Alex started composing some early pieces to what would eventually become Blurred in the summer of 2009. He had initially finished working on this project in late autumn of that year and abandoned it for quite some time. He finally picked it up again in the winter of 2011, remixed some of the tracks, completely reworked some of the earlier ideas and came up with this finished version in May. “Daylight” is the only track that features a live string section, recorded for Celeste Terrell’s song Angels back in 2009. He then edited each instrument’s part and randomly placed them, overlaying with beautiful sweeping pads. The result was so unlike the original composition and what’s more, Alex can scarcely remember having composed it at all! It was more like a dream channeled through his computer, occuring from nowhere. “We Were All Fishes Once” is influenced by Nyman’s film scores and Philip Glass’s solo piano compositions, while “Lost in Tokyo” is an attempt to create an atmosphere of overcrowded city filled with neon lights, similar to that you see in the film Lost in Translation. “Origins” is an attempt at creating a purely cosmic ambient piece and the only track that could have been at home on his previous release, “Somewhere in the Open Country”. “The Wild Winds Weep” and “The Human Abstract” are two simple piano pieces inspired by William Blake’s poetry, while the last track, “The King” is his own small tribute to Michael Jackson and his songs that were probably the main reason he grew to love music so much. It was composed on the sad day of 26 June, 2009 although the track itself is filled with both sorrow and hope, much like the singer’s life. So Bartosz Dziadosz (Pleq) and I (Harry Towell) decided that we would put together something special to be released through Audio Gourmet to raise money for the cause and donations will be sent via Ian Hawgood, who's wife is currently working directly with some of the people affected. There have already been some excellent compilations put together that have raised hundreds of pounds for Japan, including Kanshin, For Nihon and 31 Songs For Japan to name but a few. We wanted to try and do something too and between the two of us, we invited 60 artists to each put together a short track of roughly a minute in length. As a result, we've collected a global effort of short pieces spanning many of the sub-genres that make up what some might call ambient music. It fits perfectly in line with the Audio Gourmet aesthetic and is perhaps a shining example of the sorts of sounds we seek to release within our 15 minute EP section. Conceptually, the sixty 'moments' that make up this hour-long compilation album fit together neatly with the intention of stretching out your recess periods from 15 minutes to an hour. The netlabel section of Audio Gourmet is specifically for short 'working' tea breaks, when time is of the essence. The Just A Moment compilation has been put together for when you have the time to enjoy a longer tea break and the quick changes of the many tracks should see that your listening experience remains a conscious one throughout the hour... We are grateful to Gerry McDermott who provided the stunning cover art for this, taken whilst travelling in Luxembourg. The cafe shot perfectly captures the essence of the album and conveys a great example of a potential listening environment. We would like to offer a huge thanks to Byron from the Felt Collective who has kindly agreed to master this album, which I'm sure given the sheer amount of tracks was no easy task! We'd also like to thank all of the artists who have agreed to take part in this project. Without them, this project could not have taken place. And I personally would like to thank Bartosz (Pleq) for his invaluable help and patience in organising this with me. released July 29, 2011 Curated and compiled by Harry Towell (Spheruleus) and Bartosz Dziadosz (Pleq) Mastered by Byron Felt (Felt Collective) Artwork by Gerry McDermott A huge extended thanks to all of the artists who have agreed to be involved with this project ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

Paper Relics - Last Of The Grain (Listening Mirror Remix) (6:48) Paper Relics consists of brothers Harry and Stuart Towell. Stuart is a skilled guitarist and Harry is renowned for his solo work as Spheruleus and for running the Audio Gourmet netlabel. Almost a year before this digital release was made available, the brothers set about recording as Paper Relics. Their debut EP 'Recovered Artefact' was made available for free through Audio Gourmet and whilst this was out, worked continued on what would eventually become 'Over Exposure', released in the summer of 2011 on Time Released Sound. The album is inspired by the family history at Ketton in Rutland, UK and the childhood memories spent there that the Towell brothers so cherish. The farm itself is set for demise, with an approved housing development pending - soon all that will remain is the family memories and this tributary set of recordings. Stuart's languid pseudo-folk/blues guitar compositions are accompanied by field recordings and additional instrument sounds performed by elder sibling Harry. The album is deeply personal and this was reflected in the packaging of the CD versions available through Time Released Sound - with the hand-sewn booklet version including old rural photography, 100 year old botanical prints, collaged wallpaper pieces, handwritten naturalist notes all housed inside a special personalised envelope. They sold out very quickly, like much of Time Released Sound's special editions but there are still some beautiful digipak versions available which feature actual photography of the farm from the seventies, taken by their father Baz. You can purchase a copy here: timereleasedsound.com/shop/releases/paper-relics/ If you tend to prefer digital for whatever reason, you can do so here though the Audio Gourmet Bandcamp account. We have compiled a selection of bonus artwork assigned for each individual track - including some further examples of Baz's 70s farm-based photography. We have also arranged three remixes from talented friends: >Prolific sound artist Pleq, from Poland restructures 'Fading', dropping the guitar to explore the violin and harmonica textures further whilst adding some delicate chimes and light crackle/glitching. >Well travelled Greek artist Byron Felt has contributed a remix of 'Last Of The Grain' that he recorded for us in late 2010. It is barely reminiscant of the original but somehow fits beautifully with the overall feel to the album and really adds something with the use of field recordings and electric guitar. >Finally, Jeff Stonehouse, the man behind Listening Mirror turns in a deeper example of 'Last Of The Grain'. It is the longest track on the album, exploring a palette of beautifully droning textures in a fashion that has won Jeff so much deserved acclaim. released September 8, 2011 Guitar by Stuart Towell Other instruments and sounds by Harry Towell Mastered by Wil Bolton Cover art photography by Baz Towell Cover art botanical print design by Colin Herrick Additional 'bonus photography' by Baz, Harry and Stuart Towell Originally released as a highly artistic CD in 2 versions on Time Released Sound Additional remixes by our good friends Pleq, Byron Felt and Listening Mirror. ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:

One of which is 'In The Bleak Wilderness Of Sleep' available for purchase here as either a multi-format digital album or as a limited edition CDr. The compilation features 12 tracks from some of the globe's most talented sound-designers. It is a subtly rewarding headphone listen from start to finish; curated and ordered to purposefully induce a state of sleep. Starting off minimally, gradually gathering tone and atmosphere, the experience goes on without ever boiling over or reaching a crescendo. Parts of the album are light and restful whereas traces of it tread darker territory. All in all, the imagery that the album conjurs sits perfectly as a soundtrack to the dreams one experiences during a nights sleep. The artwork was put together by French artist Eric Lacombe (Monstror) who some may remember for his cover art collaborations for Spheruleus releases in the past. Here for 'In The Bleak Wilderness Of Sleep', his surreal imagery lends itself perfectly to this mysterious dream invoking soundtrack. The limited edition CDr release comes housed inside a recycled card case with the cover artwork slipped inside and printed to photographic paper. Along with a CDr copy of the album itself, the tracklist will be printed to high quality salmon coloured paper/card. On the front, the album title will be rubber stamped in brown ink and on the back, the Audio Gourmet logo will be cut out by lazers. It will be hand-numbered in brown pen and limited to 200 copies. *The first 50 copies will include a second bonus image, taken by select friends and photographers. These include: Gerry McDermott Harry Towell James McDougall Peter Nejedly Seth Chrisman Simon Whetham Stuart Towell Everyone who purchases the CD version will be entitled to a free and instant digital copy of the album. 01. Spheruleus - Retreat (21:31) 02. Spheruleus - Dissolve (20:20) In his first solo release since last year's 'Voyage' album on Hibernate, Spheruleus gets the year up and running with this pair of longform pieces called 'Dissolve'. Dissolve is currently a digital only release, presented as a vinyl or tape set with two 'sides'. Both pieces are continuous longform tracks, culled from a wide pool of instruments including guitar, violin, cello, harmonica, vibraphone, french horn, piano and voice. The instrument sounds are blurred into a swirling collage, accompanied by light shards of noise, radio static and field recordings. The cover artwork was provided by photographer Richard Outram, (who also did the artwork for Voyage) and then treated with a canvas effect to make it look like a painting of what would (at first) be the artist's ideal home. Harry Towell, the man behind the Spheruleus moniker has recently been residing in a living space for a short time, which has for some unknown reason been less than inspiring. He is due to move soon, which got him thinking about the time he has spent living in his current home and how his musical creativity has been hindered by it. He pondered upon what would be the most ideal place to live in terms of inspiring creativity and immediately recalled Richard Outram's beautiful photograph of an isolated house against a backdrop of mountains on the Llyn Peninsula in Wales. The area is very much untouched and the houses are scattered sparsely. Soon, thoughts turned to how such a place of isolation may eventually induce a despairing loneliness despite its obvious beauty. In turn, this gave Harry the inspiration to make the most of his current living space and overcome his hindered productivity with one last creative surge before he moves to pastures new. Aside from this, the rest is left wide open for individual interpretation and it is hoped that the imagery and titles evoke thoughts that each listener can relate to themselves. released February 24, 2012 Written and produced by Harry Towell Photography by Richard Outram Artwork by Harry Towell ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Tracklist:
01. Spheruleus - Revolving Fields (23:54) "Revolving Fields is a single long form piece composed with the idea of an imaginary time lapse film, focussing on active farm land. Over its duration, the sped-up video footage would document the changes in appearance to agricultural fields. Carefully prepared soil turns to slowly germinating seeds, which grow to larger crops before being harvested. Then back again, ready for the cycle to repeat itself. A shift in weather patterns and a clearly visible change of colour tones blend seamlessly into one. Browns to greens to gold and then back again. Revolving fields, never static. Always changing form." ** All proceeds from digital sales will go towards funding our new sister label, Tessellate Recordings. Audio Gourmet is predominantly a digital label but we do support the physical format. So we have put together a special mix tape which has been burnt to a CDr which looks like a vinyl record; all three popular physical formats, rolled into one package. The two 37 minute 'sides' to this mix cover our humble beginnings from 2010, with work included from Beginnings, Hessien and Ibreathefur right up to present day with tracks from Ben Fleury-Steiner, Western Skies Motel and La Petite Vague. There are only 50 copies available to the world, never to be repressed. We don't anticipate that these hand-made collector's editions will hang around for long, so act fast to secure your copy! The tracks have been blended with harmonic mixing techniques to provide a continuous uninterrupted listening environment. Modern Classical chamber music textures sit alongside electronic drones, field recordings and electro acoustic compositions to provide the perfect overview of the Audio Gourmet label. The Audio Gourmet netlabel began life in May 2010 when blogger Harry Towell became inspired by the various high quality netlabels at the time particularly in the blooming modern Ambient music scene. The label specialises in releasing free fifteen minute EPs which can be listened to during a standard working tea-break. The releases are short bursts of experimental sound art, which give listeners the opportunity to listen to a full conceptual work when time is of the essence. released October 26, 2014 Mixed by Harry Towell www.audiogourmet.net ----------------------- foobar2000 1.2.5 / Замер динамического диапазона (DR) 1.1.1 Для того, чтобы скачать .torrent Вам необходимо зарегистрироваться |
