An interview by Gerdi -
http://www.avadhuta.com/interviews.html In this interview, taped shortly after his auto accident, Papaji talks about poverty and wealth and the natural state of man. Also, he shares some of his stories about his experiences during World War II and discusses how to know compassion in the face of all this suffering, both past and present. He ends this discourse by talking about how to speak to God and how to reach enlightenment. The questions to which Papaji responds in this interview by Gerdi: \ For me, the Indian reality is, to a large extent, one of poor people and a whole lot of suffering. I am very much touched when I read City of Joy, by Dominique Lapierre. Is there anything to be done about this, or do you have to just look at it as a natural state? \ How to know compassion? Does it come from your inner child? \ What is the true, proper life, is it in seeking happiness in worldly affairs or rather, in seeking God? \ How is it possible to speak to God? \ Can I reach enlightment in this life?
