Thanks a lot Misantrop, you continuously give us food for thought.
This is my second DSD512 file, both upsampled, no native DSD512 yet, waiting for it. I also think that resampling in multiples of 44.1k is better than converting from 48k based files. Later, for comparison, can you post a native DSD256 rip of this vinyl? |

Did you like the octa regardless of its PCM origin? |

Hi. It's multiple of 44.1k. Both folders derived from one DXD source. So the fact I've made 88.2 PCM (and not 96) says it was a 352.8k DXD *wink*
Did you like the octa regardless of its PCM origin?
Thanks a lot to give us this chance to hear what DSD512 is up to. |

microtone,
Previously posted parts you're referring to were initially 384 so there was no choice. what DSD512 is up to
Also, if you are about to offer ADI-2 Pro with its 768k for converting to octa - I say no. 768k in ADI-2 Pro is kinda bogus. Read digilab's posts in this thread. |

microtone, Very curious about your opinion since you can also do octa natively. Thanks.

Listened in two diferent days, it sounds very good.
Good impulse response, good bass, good treble, good stage, separation of instruments, and 3d localization. But I think that a native DSD256 rip can sound better in my system. I think every other DSD256 SRV albuns that you rip, sound more vivid than this DXD/DSD512. "Little Wing" by SRV versus Hendrix Box- live in Royal Albert Hall, apart from that it IS HENDRIX, and a outstanding recording, it is unfair to compare. The Hendrix original is REAL MUSIC, SRV a very good reproduction, in my system. Thanks a lot, for giving me the chance to hear this files. |

The source. Playing it as-is via ASIO to 768k capable DAC (arrows to prove it). Would you buy an ADC like this? I definitely wouldn't. Okay, USB doesn't support 64-bit transmission. I doubt it's necessary but in order to completely exclude any probable dithering/truncation matters of Reaper let's render a part to original 768.64fp and then dither it down to 32 integer with TPDF with a 3rd party tool - I used JRiver SRC without altering the actual SR but applying the TPDF dithering. The same massive ultrasonic noise cloud. |

Will check the 768k source you linked, I have seen it before, but didnt´t downloaded because of the large file sizes.
Your spectrogram shows that the ADI-2Pro is probably sampling in multibit 256x48k low order Delta-Sigma, before decimating to 768k PCM (DS noise starts at 96k). For this rate PCM, the reasonable Delta-Sigma sampling would be 512x48k (32x768k) or even 1024x48k (64x768k), than you should not have that amount of noise in the decimated PCM file. |
